This location always seems to be a bit short staffed. However, I knew exactly what I wanted and where it was located, so the lack of staff didn't impact me until I got to the register. There was a line at check-out with only one register open. The friendly salesperson was doing an excellent job of multi-tasking; juggling questions, returns and sales. I just picked up my dog from Pet Smart Grooming Service in this El Camino Real location-groomer: Marivel. Very disappointed. My dog's chest is very damp, so is the underbelly. Hair is VERY tangled in those areas. I always pay for the CHI package. I can tell they used VERY little of that product on my dog. I can't smell it at all on him. I usually take my dog to the PetSmart in FootHill Ranch- the whole grooming crew there do such an amazing/thorough job. When I pick him up from there, he smells SO good, and they make him so fluffy (I have a Sheepadoodle). Very disappointing service at PetSmart El Camino Real. $80 for nothing...I should've just groomed him myself. The only reason I brought him there was because Foothill Ranch was completely booked today. NEVER AGAIN. read more

I've been coming here since my Bella was 6 months old and ready for her first groom. The first few times were great. She always came back to me a happy dog and looked great. I always paid for a bath and brush and it came out to about $30-$40 depending on if she needed a haircut or not. This last time, they charged me for a bath, brush, haircut (I had her shaved for summer) and extra brushing time since she was matted. Bath and brush is quoted at 2 hours, haircut at 30 mins, and the extra brush time was 30 minutes. Ok what? I dropped her off at 6:30 and by 8:20 they were already calling me to come get her and from my house to the salon (about 10 mins) they called me again to make sure I was coming. If I was charged all that extra time, why was I getting her in less than 2 hours? When I went to pay, it was about $70! $70 to shave and bathe my 7lb Pom who has a thinner coat to start out! (she's not a triple coat Pom, her hair is no thicker than a long haired chihuahua) Also, she was completely shaken up from this experience. She used to love coming here and now when we pull into the parking lot, she starts shaking and crying. I'm not sure what happened, but I can't bring her back here now! The groomers have always been nice to me but I have no idea what happens behind closed doors. Two stars for customer service but not sure how they treat the furry customers :/ read more

I dropped my Bulldog off at The day camp facility in Pet Smart for the day a couple of weeks ago. It was my first time leaving him and I wanted to make sure I was comfortable with leaving him here. When I dropped him off it seemed like a great place, small but good for the day. When we picked him up, one of the girls brought him out with no info or knowledge of how he did while at day camp. We tried to see how he got along with the other dogs and if he was nervous or scared etc. She seemed "high" and out of the loop. We were left with so many question marks and no comforting that it even went well other than he did not poop, that was all she told us. I will not be taking my dog here ever again. read more

Went here last night and almost stepped in pee a few times. Noticed at least 5 spots that had pee. Told one of the employees and she asked me if I knew who's dog did it. This review is for the PetsHotel only. Muffy & Ginger crash here when we are out of town. This place tends to have spaces open, even during last minute situations. The staff seems nice... they remember muffy when I bring her in. The prices are good, and the dogs always have someone on site. You can buy extra perks like treats and extra playtime. There is a discount for booking our dogs in the same room/kennel. The kennel cages are the best price, but you can book larger kennel cage rooms, and they even have a room in the front with a glass door. You can pay extra to have your dogs watch movies, and you can even call their "bone booth" to talk with your dogs. Basically, the prices are good, the staff is nice & I know they are checking on my pooch, the facilities are clean, and it is convenient. read more

My dog Shadow always looks great after his trips to the petsmart dog salon. His groomer Kenedi always does a great job! He is a little anxious when he comes, but they can calm him down enough to make him clean and fluffy! I recommend this place to anyone who has a dog of any size or coat type. First of all, I always take my fur baby to clinics to get bath. However, I was so disappointed from those clinics. One of the clinic we went told us they couldn't trim my fur baby's nails because he is too sensitive. This sounds like an excuse and not a reason. So we decided to give petsmart a try. First time here great experience!!! They provide a check in report on what they did and how he behaves and also expressed my dog's gland. And they gave him this really cute bandana~ they did a good job on trimming his nails. We already booked his next months appointment. Grooming department sucks. Took my dog in for grooming and she came back out looking how i took her in. I'm like did y'all even groom her? She stinks still hair is not blow dry, they cut her nails, her nails was so sharp where she ripped my shirt.! A pet smart employee seen my struggling to not get scratched and told me to go back to the grooming department and have them to file her nails with a Machine. I want to give them 0 if I can. They did a bath service for my cat. They called me at 5pm asking me to pick up, and said they would be close at 6pm( which their business hour on yelp indicates 7pm on Sunday) I arrived at 5:40 and by the time I arrived, there was no one there except a front desk lady saying that she had allergy to cat, and she asked me to go to the back with her to pick up the cat myself. Why would petsmart put a person at grooming service if she has allergy to pets? The worst thing was that my cat was very wet when I picked her up. When I asked her if she could dry my cat, she said she could not use the dryer because the one who could already left. I hope my cat won't catch a cold and I won't suggest any others to come to this store! read more

It's too bad that a store/chain of this magnitude is just too corporate to provide good customer service/satisfaction. PetSmart's "policies" get in the way treating customers right or they don't allow their employees to use their brain and think. The employees are like robots and have to relay these stupid policies trying to fit everyone into one box. What I am referring to is my last and final visit to their store, pet hotel, day camp and grooming. I booked my newly adopted, 8 month old, neutered, in perfect health, whippet puppy a day of "Doggie Daycare". When I got there I was told that unfortunately because his vaccination record didn't look like the vaccination records they normally see, they couldn't accept him. Umm.. open your eyes, use your brain and read the vaccination record. All the information was there just the same as any other record. Personally I think the girl was intimidated by the fact that there was spanish/english on the paperwork. She said "it has to be in english". I pointed out that all of the paperwork was in both eniglish and spanish. I personally don't speak spanish so how was I able to look at the documents see the whole thing translated in english but she wasn't? She continued to scan the documents and saw some pen writing and pointed out that nothing could be hand written.To me she took one look and decided it didn't fit their policy. She didn't call a manager, didn't ask a fellow associate, just said "yeah sorry we can't accept these". We asked for a manager and she tells us he won't be in until tomorrow and that she's the one in charge. We adopted our dog from an american ran shelter in san miguel, mexico. He has all of the records from the vet that treated him at the shelter...the vet even made a copy of her veterinary license and included it. The record was on their letter head, etc...all the things the girl claimed it needed to have in order for them to deem it valid. She just didn't like the look of the documents...it was unfamiliar for her. I asked if she could call the vet and verify what she was uncomfortable about. (the telephone/address, everything was on there) She said they couldn't dial out of the country. We left and called their corporate call center to see if they could help in verifying our dog's vaccination record by calling the shelter/vet in mexico. They couldn't help. Said they were only allowed to call canada but not mexico. Sadly I feel we were discriminated against and were not given any options from the in store associate to the corporate call center. I find it hard to believe we are the only people that brought a dog with paperwork from another place to them. They don't have a "policy" for that? Ridiculous. I have asked them to cancel my account as we have had our other dog go to the day camp and boarded here in the past. We found a place down the street called "Wagly" pet campus that happily took our dog's vaccination record and both of our dogs just finished their first day camp with them. This place is great! So much cleaner, friendlier and they understand customer service. Wish we had found them sooner. We already feel like family here :) As for PetSmart, at the end of the day, what should I have expected from a place that is a retail store first and services like boarding, grooming and daycare is secondary? They left a bad taste with me and I'll only be going to Petco for shopping from now on. read more

I normally don't say anything on yelp but I had to this time. Today I came in to get an entire set of new items for a new puppy I'm getting. Linda (I believe her name is Linda) was helping me for almost an hour in trying to guide me through step by step everything that I needed. She was so patient and kind, and literally kept helping me even as it was getting long. And to top it all off, the cashier was so incredibly sweet and helpful as well. I love Banfield vet don't get me wrong. And the store part of this petsmart. The reason I am taking my time to write a review of this petsmart is the pet hotel/day care. I have a very very sweet 8month old bull terrier mix puppy. I wanted her to have a fun day of day care for 6 hours while I was at an event. Because of my puppy's mix I was told that she wasn't allowed to play with any of the other dogs during her stay here. She would be confined all day to herself. ALONE. Oh but she could have someone come and play with her. If I wanted to keep my dog alone all day I could do it for free at home. So, puppy is going to Top Dog down in Huntington Beach instead. They love dogs of all breeds. No racism.... nicely done Top dog. And shame on the petsmart rules. read more

I wish I read reviews before taking my dog here for a bath. The bath includes nail grinding, pad trim, sanitary trim, etc. which is all I needed because my dog was fully groomed last month and I like his length right now. I figured since it wasn't a full haircut PetSmart could handle it. Boy was I wrong! First of all, they said it would take 2-3hrs I dropped him off at 11 and at 2:30 I still had not received a phone call. I decided to go in and see what was going on. The guy said "Oh, he's done the groomer was just on his lunch and letting my dogs ears air dry." Uhm ok. So he brings him out and my dog is still super damp and does not smell like he had a bath at all. I looked at his paws and was positive they were never trimmed. I ask the guy about it and he said he would take him back again. So 20min later he comes back and my dog is still damp but his paws are trimmed. It had gotten really busy at that time so I took my dog and left. Once I got home I noticed the sanitary trim was never done and his nails were the same. So basically all my dog got was a bath and a half ass blow dry. I was so annoyed because I have a poodle mix and the sanitary trim is super necessary between grooming so this was a total waste of money. Save your money and go to a legit groomer. read more

Perhaps not my best bet for grooming, if you have a dog. But that is just from talking to other customers there. They have however, an adoption program which we feel is a very good thing. My sis in law lives in Tustin and tskes her pup here so when my wife visits she takes our dog to get groomed here. He saw Natalie today who is great. She knows him well and genuinely seems to like him even though he can be difficult. We took him to another groomer in town but the price was almost doubled and he was always full of hair whenever we picked him up. He also goes to Banfield here and we like them. Other than 1 visit where a lady vet didn't seem to know what she was doing all other visits have been good. Definitely worth a try instead of paying extra at a puppy spa! read more

So let me say I am a first time dog owner of a bull terrier, he's a few months now and we've been here several times here for all his vaccinations and food etc. . I'm so pleased with the staff everyone is so sweet and helpful the moment you walk in! forget the negative comments. The staff always answer all of our questions thoroughly! And trust me we had plenty. The hospital knows us well we've been in here several times and I feel confident my dog is always being taken care of. The morning staff is as rude and snotty as it gets although the afternoon staff are pleasant and love the dogs. Just lost us a groomer customers thanks to Ilse A. Made an appointment for my dog to get groomed for the first time at this location, though she has gotten groomed at the Petsmart at The District a few times. Ilse A. helped me when I came in and asked about my dogs to temperament with grooming, I have not heard much negative feedback so said I think she's fine to which Ilse responded "Well the notes in our system say she's really difficult." Okay...so why did you ask then? Were you trying to set me up? Then proceeds to tell me I need to book two appointment slots due to how terrible my dog is and I need to pay $10 extra and that she may not even be able to do it today. First I am hearing about any of this and hearing it from a rude employee who shouldn't be customer facing. When my husband came to pick her up Ilse A. said she was able to groom her but not the mouth and we need to work on it. Actually, we'll just work on finding a new groomer! Maybe one with a better attitude since dogs can sense auras and our dog clearly didn't like hers. Ilse A. decided to charge us the extra $10 even though she didn't need anyone's help AND didn't even clean up her muzzle and eyes as we requested. I want a manager to call me and I want my $10 back. If Ilse A. is somehow a manager, then I want a District Manager to call me. read more

So I called & asked the girl who answered if she could keep it open for another 15 minutes cuz I just need dog food really quick & I'm 5 minutes away. Don't ever let these people interact with your pets. They are unprofessional, rude and worst of all they are cruel to animals.?This Petsmart Grooming Salon abused my dog. I have an 8 year old 12 pound Shih-Tzu named Bill. I took him to this groomer because they are close to where I live and they had same day availability. I dropped Bill off at 11am. At 1pm I got a call from the salon saying they would not perform the service because (my 12lb, 8yr old dog) was being too aggressive. I drove out to pick him up and when I got there the staff was extremely rude. They hadn't even begun grooming him. He had just been sitting in a cage for 2 hours before they even tried to start grooming him. When I picked him up he was shaking. He is still shaking now and is hiding in my closet. He has never reacted this way before. I called the store manager and he said that his staff has the choice to deny service to anyone they want. He was extremely rude and said that it's not his problem. I then asked to speak to the salon manager and without saying anything he put me on hold for 7 minutes. Finally the grooming salon manager picked up the phone. I asked her what happened. She said that they were busy so they kept Bill in a cage for a couple hours until they could get caught up. I asked why they didn't schedule us for a later appointment time instead of keeping him in a cage for 2+ hours. She said it didn't matter that he had been a cage because when they took him out he was being too difficult and it wasn't her fault that Bill was scared & upset. I asked if anything else happened and she said that nothing happened. Bill just started attacking her & the groomer. (So apparently for the first time in 8 years my tiny Shih-Tzu, unprovoked , just started "attacking" people.) I asked why they didn't disclose to me that Bill might be left in a cage for long periods of time. At this point she hung up on me. I've been getting Bill groomed every 4-6 weeks for 8 years. He has never been denied service. To my knowledge he's never been left in a cage for hours waiting. If Bill did act aggressively towards anyone, I can only assume that its because he felt like he needed to protect himself. Either they did something to him or he was scared after being left in a cage for 2 hours. It's been 2 hours since we got home and Bill is still hiding in my closet. He is still shaking and whimpers every time I try to get close to him. read more

Brought my 2 Labs in for nail trims and one was to get an ear clean as well. My black lab has leg issues on all 4 legs. I let them know of this. When the groomer tried to take her back behind the register she just sat down. Instead of petting her or trying to calm her, she actually just started pulling her by the leash backwards. In the middle of all that my dog then hit her face on the metal pole on one of the grooming stations. We then demanded for the groomer to let her go and to not touch our dogs and that we wanted someone else to handle our pets. When I came back to get her after her nail trim I had asked if they cleaned her ears as well (like I asked for), of course they didn't so they had to do that while I waited again. If this is how the employees handle the pets in front of their owners, I can't imagine how they handle them when we are not around! Very disappointed and I will NEVER come back to this PetSmart again! I even went straight to a manager and he did nothing except tell me he was going to talk to the staff! read more

Came here for the grand opening on Saturday, October 13th. PetsHotel/daycare isn't opened until mid-November, so they say. It was pretty cool that day with free giveaways and pet adoptions everywhere. We only opted for a photo pin because my dog is far too small to use a one-size-fits-all bandanna or a frisbee. My boyfriends noted that all the animal cages/tanks are smaller than other PetSmarts but with less stock too. Emma and I have been back twice since then. Once to redeem our $5 off coupon that came in the mail and another time to pick up some new toys. Pros: -Closest to my home -Very clean, like most other newer PetSmarts -Has a PetsHotel, training and doggie daycare (not that I would ever think of leaving Emma at this company's PetsHotel or daycare, but that's another story) -Has Banfield (not that I would go there) Cons: -If they ask me one more time if my dog has been in training, I'm going to throw a fit. They don't even beat around the bush here. It's like, "What's her name? How old is she? Oh, have you thought about puppy classes?" I'm about to get her a shirt that says, "I already finish puppy class at FV's PetSmart." -Which leads me to peeve #2, which is then they'll ask if I've thought about intermediate/advance classses. Yes, I know. No, we're not signing up today. At the other stores, like The District, I don't get everyone from regular sales associates to cashiers to trainers asking me that. After a while, it gets annoying. -Customer service here needs a little help, maybe because they just opened. I asked one person for help regarding a toy and its chew factor, and she points me to some other ones which I already mentioned that we owned 2 of. I would rather her just say "I'm not sure" instead of bs-ing me around for 3 minutes. -Peeve #4 about customer service: The second time we came, we bought the giant heavy bag of bedding for the rabbits. Granted, I didn't need help out or a cart but this was the first PetSmart that didn't ask. They literally let me drag it out to my car myself. Just because I didn't need help doesn't mean the next person in my situation won't either. Would've been a 4 star for all the facilities available, but then the annoying amounts of people asking about her puppy class status kinda killed it. read more

As a former Petco employee, I sometimes feel guilty for going to Petsmart. But I don't work for that company anymore, so eff 'em. If I had to do a comparison, Petsmart is like the Nordie's and Petco is like Big Lots. It's nice and bright, clean, and the employees are generally friendly. I think more than buying my pet supplies, I go to Petsmart because I like walking by the Petshotel. It' so much fun to watch the doggies interacting. I don't have a dog myself, so I kinda get my doggy fix here. Also, I try to donate whenever I buy stuff.
