I gave a 2 star rating due to the grooming services. I just paid $100 for my dogs hair cut. I asked them to cut his tail hair short and his ears short and when I picked he just looked so silly. His tail hair was left still long and his head just had this silly poof on top. I paid to get his nails cut and when I looked, they didn't look even, they had a few cracks in them making them scratchy if that makes sense. Located as a stand-alone store in The District At Tustin Legacy on the corner of Park & Tustin Ranch Rd. I decided to take my dawg there to walk him around. We met Joann while walking the toy aisle. Joann is very friendly & helpful, always with a smile, and a real professional (no, we are not related, HA). I've been in about 3-4 times and she has always been so helpful. The space inside this point is somewhat small for the amount of merchandise PetSmart offers, along with vet services from Banfield, so it seems very confined at times, however, the selection of merchandise and staff friendliness actually took away any anxiety I had while walking my dawg inside through all the aisles. I've been to 2 PetSmart locations (Market Place was the other, no-go for me) and THIS location is by far the best, most friendliest one. Took my dog to the groomer here 4 years ago and I haven't been back since. This place likes to shave dogs down to the bone. They don't care if you cry/can't even recognize your dog after their "grooming". These groomers are so inadequate that they don't know how to manage a couple mats and instead choose to shave down any and all dogs (check other peoples' reviews - all PetSmarts at all locations shave dogs down). Hey groomers - there are ways to trim a dog without shaving it down to the bone like a goat. I have a fluffy maltipoo/havanese boi and they made him look like an AIDS-ridden hyena. In addition to shaving my dog bald, they shaved his full, fluffy face down to the bone and his face was so gaunt and thin and unrecognizable. I cried. Please, if you have a dog with a long coat, cut the mats off yourself at home and take it to a good local groomer who cares - like Paw Sweet Paw or The Spaw. Sometimes I like my dog to be shaved for the summer, but local groomers have the decency and common sense to leave the face full and fluffy and cute so that you don't get a goat back in return. Also, this place takes 5-6 hours to groom your dog because they overbook and don't have room. Unlike local places that finish up in 2 hours max. When I picked my boi up, they told me he had an ear infection. Likely because they let him sit damp for several hours before they could blowdry him. Big yikes. Never go here for grooming. It was our first time and our last. I asked my mom to take the dog here because it seemed to be convenient and had good enough reviews. The people must be friends with the groomers. Cassandra was the groomer and she upcharged for everything and the end result was a bald dog. The dog literally was shaved to the skin but we were charged for all sorts of fur treatments. What fur? It was all shaved off. Terrible service as well. They were rude and just kept saying how they had to charge for this and that...it came up to almost $80 for a dog less than 12 pounds. They shaved him so bald that they even shaved his whiskers off!!! Store has removed the option of using a hand basket to shop. Instead, shopping carts are only option. Since Petsmart is a pet supply store that encourages people to bring their pets, this is ridiculous. Not everyone's dog is a purse sized pup or can easily fit in a cart to be pushed around. For those of us with medium to large sized dogs, a large cart is a hinderance and stress to shop with. Holding a leash with a larger size dog with one hand and trying to navigate the aisles with other hand is challenging and stressful. Sure owners can leave dog at home, but this is supposed to be a store where pets are welcome and should be a positive experience, it was not for me. I did not finish my entire shopping due to the difficulty i was experiencing handling my dog and the cart at the same time. Ended up dumping cart in discust and buying 2 small items i could hand carry. The geniuses who came up with this stupid sales maiming idea should have test drove the dog and cart idea first. I went into simple get my does nails trimmed.. up selling and everything they said pedicini or something for the dog.. now my dogs can't stop licking his paw because they have scraped a layer of skin trying to shave the hair in his paw.. and no they didn't do a good job when I saw the day off, but seeing my fur baby uncomfortable walking and sits down to lick his wound all the time makes me wanna go to the store and yell at everyone!! I've read some really distressing reviews about other PetSmart Grooming salons, and am heartbroken for anyone's bad experience... our fur babies are our family! I have had excellent experiences with the PetSmart Grooming Salon at The District in Irvine. In fact, Yadira saved my dog's life!! She let me know that she had trouble expressing one of his anal glands, and suggested that I have the Vet check it out. Turns out, it was cancer!! Highly aggressive anal gland adenocarcinoma, to be specific, but thanks to Yadira's attentiveness and communication with me, it was caught early. The vet said this usually isn't diagnosed until much more advanced stages, but when it is caught early - usually by an attentive groomer - it can be treated with positive results. Aside from saving our dear Buddy's life, she has done a wonderful job with his grooming. She asks detailed questions about what I want, takes great notes to reference on future visits, and is so warm and caring. I love that I can book an Express Grooming session, where Buddy is her one-and-only focus, start to finish, so that he is done in 90 Min or so, and doesn't have to stress out being there for hours. Been a Pet Smart since the Tustin store opened 2009? I have a uncommon breed Westie/Cairn type and each time they groom my dog(s) it's always inconsistent they clip my dogs like a spaniel??? I always the groomer it's a westie cit without the skirt and the ears and tail are cut short. When I pick them up it's always an adventure because leave the tail and ears long! The first time, I took my dog for bath and I told the front dest girl and the actual person who was bathing my dog that my dog has a history of ear infection and there is medicine in his ear so make sure to put a cotton ball in the ears so water doesn't get in there, but when I went back to pick up my dog I realized they didn't even bother with what I said and washed my dog's ear because they thought the ears were dirty!!! I thought maybe it was an honest mistake and decided to give them another chance so today I took my dog there for a TRIM and bath. I told them 2 times that I don't want a full body haircut and all I want is a trim and bath, but when I picked up my dog I again realized that the people who work there DON'T CARE about what the customers want and they just do whatever that goes through their mind. Grooming review- April 14, 2022 Worst place ever!!! I would give this place zero rating if it allowed me. First time grooming for my 10 month mini Aussie, but NEVER AGAIN! I took my dog for a bath and brush and remove the matting behind one of her ears, which was the main reason as I bathe her at home but didn't want to use scissors near her face for fear of hurting her. As things go, they lure you into clipping/grinding nails or teeth cleaning, etc. I agreed to add these on, sort of treat my dog to a first time spa, not that it was anything like a doggie spa. I asked if she could do a little trim on the rear, not a cut, but a trim. Lauren, the girl who served me said she could. I went on to ask if she would use scissors or shears as I did not want it cut, just trimmed in the same curved shape all aussies have. She said both but knew what I meant and just wanted it trimmed to look neater. When I went back to pick my dog, I almost died of shock and was so upset (still am!) because she shaved all the hair on her rear end and shaved her anal area right down to the skin!! I was fuming mad and of course Lauren was on lunch break. Amber stepped in apologizing saying it must have been a miscommunication and it wasn't done maliciously!! Miscommunication really?? As I went on to repeat the whole conversation I had had with Lauren. Amber said she wouldn't charge me as they have a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee, but that does not undo the damage they did to my dog. She looks like a hyena from the back!! On my way out, I bump into Lauren and I asked which part of "trimming the hair on her rear" did she not understand and why did she shave it all? All she could say is she was sorry. Huh?? This review is strictly for the grooming service. My goldendoodle pup had the worst grooming session ever here. We showed the groomer a picture of what we wanted and described it explicitly and they said that oh yea I can do that. It was nothing crazy, just a doodle cut. None of the instruction was followed and instead they ended up butchering his haircut. His hair was shaved off to as short as possible which is not what was requested. It seems like they used a different blade size than what was discussed, and his face was no where close to what we requested. He doesn't even look like a goldendoodle anymore. She is an Australian Shepard and just needed the butt and belly trimmed. We got her back and found a bunch of cuts from a razer. She couldn't stop licking it so we had to bring her to the vet resulting in an additional 100 dollars. Pet parents, avoid the grooming service at this location. It's not busy for a reason. My dog just had a bath there a few days ago. 1. She as dropped off at 7pm. The bather called to say she as done at 7:26pm. 2. Paw pads were not shaved. feet were not scissored. 3. Sanitary area was not shaved. 4. Nails were rough (it was purportedly grinded - upsold without notifying my husband of the extra cost - the manager graciously refunded) 5. Couldn't tell all of this at first since she was not dry when picked up (bather said she couldn't dry the legs - which I said was fine, but my pup was wet all over when picked up. this has never happened before) 6. She was not brushed out at all (a bath is supposed to include 15 minutes of brush out and they usually come out looking fluffy - not the case here) My dog has been bathed at many groomers (petsmart and elsewhere) and I never leave bad reviews for groomers because I feel like it's such a hard job. However, for this location, I feel the need to warn other pet parents. The vibe you get is, the employee doesn't care, want to do as little as they can get away with. I have the same service every month since 4 years ago, bath brush with FURminator and a package of conditioner. Some times they did NOT do the FURminator cuz my dog's hair veryveryvery messy after the bath, the service just made it even worse.... and I can see if they did the conditioner through smell&touch his hair, unfortunately, most times they did not do full service. I had a dog food to return and buy the same one sometimes wellness core has a bad batch. Been a customer for years. Also returned instinct fish toppers. Girl at register, in which I asked her name said she didn't need to talk to me says she couldn't find the receipt I just bought it weeks ago. I have a long list of the exact purchases from years she tells me she can't find it. Then she says the fish toppers were not on there finally the manager which wasn't nice at all said just exchange. The people that work in the actual grooming salon are nice but the store is very mismanaged as far as I am concerned. I write this after giving them a second chance. Most recently, I waited outside the salon with several others for more than 25 min past my appt while the dogs that we walk-ins for nail clips were prioritized. My 13-yr old with arthritis laid on the hard floor while we waited. When I asked a manager, he said he would expedite check-in. Ten min later I found him distracted somewhere else. He said "we are really busy." Again - this is not my first time. I do not hold it against PetSmart overall but highly recommend anyone reading this consider going somewhere else besides here. Let me first clarify and say that this review is solely in reference to the grooming salon - I take my pet here for training classes every week with Ariel and she is wonderful, but if I could've given the grooming department zero stars I would. I took my 6 month old German Shepherd here by appointment to get a bath, hair brush, nail clipping, and teeth cleaning. My appointment was at noon so I dropped her off a little early. I let the groomers know that she becomes anxious around water and recommended they trim her nails first. Up until now, I've bathed Flo at home, but she's too heavy for me to lift into the tub so I needed to take her elsewhere. The groomers said she would be finished between 2-3 hours and I was on my way. I received a call a little after 2PM and the woman who called notified me that they attempted to bathe Flo but she got too scared and they were unable to complete the requested service. Nor were they able to brush her or trim her nails. With that being said, I completely understand if she was too anxious to handle and they didn't want to force her to do anything that would make her more scared or cause her to scratch or bite. But what took them over two hours to call me to come pick her up? When I came to get her she was still soaking wet. At this point I just wanted to take my pup home and dry her off and get her comfortable again. When they brought her out, they forgot her leash and took her back to go get it and decided to attempt to dry her again while I was waiting - I didn't ask them to do this, I just wanted to leave. She was uncooperative so they brought her back out and we left. My biggest complaint is that my poor dog was locked in a crate soaking wet for who knows how long, scared and anxious. If the groomers started their job on time, I could have been notified much earlier to come pick up my pet and dry her off myself. I will not be returning to PetSmart for any grooming services, and if you have a pet who is anxious at bath time I suggest you go to a professional groomer and steer clear of this location. read more

This was the worst grooming experience I have ever dealt with. Zero hostility, zero communication, zero accountability. Outright lies! Yesterday I brought my senior baby in for her last trim. Literally, her end of life beauty day. What a mistake that was, it turned into a disaster. First, the gentleman who checked me in was not even the groomer who I booked with. Which wasn't a big deal, maybe the one I picked was busy, but it was a big deal that there was zero communication from this man of what I wanted to what actually happened! He grabbed a piece of paper, barely even said anything to me, and was just going to take my baby from me. Like he was pressed for time. I had to say to him, "well, so this is what I want..." I then proceeded to tell him that all I wanted was a sanitary trim and her ears trimmed. He then asked me if I wanted her body hair cut, to which I said no! More than once! He said ok, wrote some things down on that piece of paper and then took her away. To my shock, when I came to pick her up, her entire body was shaved!!! Not even a little cut, her beautiful deep red wavy hair was gone!!! All of it!!! Oh, but at least they left her tail hair...what a joke!!! I was speechless and shaking and couldn't say anything, so I just grabbed my baby and walked out. That was my second mistake. I fell apart in the car, called my wife and went home. This was not the first time that this place did the complete opposite of what I asked and she told me not to go here, but I like to give second chances. That was another mistake. Well she was upset as well so she decided to go there herself and confront them. And of course because I was not there, with her, she could only go by what I had relayed. The salon manager was understanding but the gentleman who checked me in just told a bunch of lies!!! And again, because I was not there I could not refute him then. He said he showed me that infamous piece of paper that he wrote on and confirmed that I wanted what I had done "last time" but this is false!!! Last time they also didn't do what I wanted so I never would have said that!! He didn't say anything to me, I had to tell him what I wanted!! He NEVER showed me any paper!!! You sir, are a liar!! Oh!! And that piece of paper is apparently from the very first time I brought her there, before the pandemic, when the summer was hot and I did have her shaved. They save that information and use that every time! But how have I not known this?! Because no one ever communicated anything to me!! This saved information is also no where when you book on the website! Or I would have changed it myself. They also said that I can choose a trim when I book the appointment but there is no "trim" option. I have rechecked 4 times, and each time there is only 4 full hair cut choices with optional add on packages. The managers were understanding and accommodating, we got a full refund but that doesn't change anything. My babies long beautiful hair is gone, and it's not going to grow back this time. Because she doesn't have time. I know it's just hair but how do you rectify something that is gone forever now, something that so easily could have been avoided. If that gentleman had just cared enough about my baby to not think of her a just another dog. We are entrusting our children to these groomers and expect them to treat them and us with care and respect, and instead my baby was butchered. This was a lack of communication of epic proportions. And not on my part, I was firm in my convictions of what I wanted and he just dismissed me. I hope that they choose to let him go so that he doesn't have the chance to lie about anyone else's pet. This Petsmart does not properly care for their Beta fish. When I complained about the condition of their water, an employee told me that their water is cleaned out every Tuesday and Friday. Today is Sunday, which means their water should have been cleaned 2 days ago, but it looks like they haven't cleaned it in weeks. Some fish looked like we're fighting to stay alive. Honestly, I normally don't have a bad experience at this Petsmart- the groomers are usually either friendly (like Amber) or helpful since my boy gets anxious at the groomers. I gave it an extra star for those experiences. But I just felt SO put off today by the groomer Mark, who was incessantly criticizing my care for my dog. My dog was jumping on me a few times, I do I what usually do and move him off me and give attention when he's off of me, and Mark recommends I get training. I explain my dog is normally very well behaved, just not when he's anxious (like... who would expect perfect behavior when YOU'RE upset either?) He then goes on to compare HIS dog jumping when excited to mine when anxious, which makes me uncomfortable. I don't expect perfection from my dog, especially when he's upset. I explain to him, AGAIN, that he is wonderful outside of this environment, and he continues!! to push that I should get him trained! I know he and I aren't perfect, but I've been told he is great by even random strangers at this same Petsmart, and he is anxious. Also, I said no to your unsolicited advice to begin with! I also was joking about him being so stinky and he asks me if I'm sure it's not his breath. I joke back and say no, he's starting to get that Frito smell dogs get when stinky. After, he checks his teeth and questions my dental regime with my dog, asks how old he is, and says that I could do more. Which... uhh what the heck? He isn't his vet, doesn't know what I do and plan for his dental care, doesn't know ANYTHING about me or my dog, just said I need to do more for his daily routine. It was just so off-putting to have someone so unqualified to make judgments on my dog's health absolutely interrogate me and provide unwanted advice on how to take care of my baby. I understand he's grooming him, and these are normal questions about his teeth, but the bit about getting him trained (when other groomers have said he's fine once he's in the bath) and the passive-aggressive comment about me "doing more" was so unnecessary and unprofessional. Overall, I do NOT recommend this groomer. I've been going to this Petsmart for years now, but honestly I'm going to take my money elsewhere. It's prices aren't even competitive anymore and I know my dog will have a better experience elsewhere. I m so disappointed at the grooming service at petsmart. I brought my silky for a haircut and bath yesterday! After I picked her up and brought her home, I noticed there's a cut on her paw. Although I was unhappy about it, I understood sometimes accidents like this happened, so I didn't call them or do anything. But then the next morning, I also noticed there are two really red rashes on her skin, I dunno if she was alleged to the products they used or these r not rashes, these are actually bruises! I notice there's another person saying that her dog drank a lot of water after she brought the dog home from the salon. My dog was like this too! She drank so much water that made me wonder if they had provide any water for the pets in the salon! I will never bring my dog to this place ever again. We are also members of the Banfield vet services and love the 17th st location in Santa Ana. I've always loved petsmart. However my experience at the District location went from a bad phone call to schedule to a worse one when we went in person last week. I was able to get my puppy in (5 months old) for a bath and nail/hair trim and anal extraction. When my husband and I came in to our appt the gentleman with arm tattoos and gages seemed slightly annoyed in general. Choosing to ignore the attitude we were given (as we all have bad days) I confirmed that the package we were getting included nail trimming and anal extraction as that was our primary need in addition to asking where they trim the hair to see if facial har was included. Hoping it was simple enough just to verify for my own security and knowledge, the gentleman interrupted me saying her hair was too short despite the dog being groomed behind him whos hair was 2x shorter then my long hair chihuahua (my dogs hair measures at 1.1 inches currently so i know it wasn't too short to cut) Seeing he was seemingly now more annoyed with me I tried to ask him to look behind him to see the length I was talking about he refused so I chose to ignore it since he said they couldn't. Ok awesome. No worries. We got a call about an hour later that she was ready. Smelled great. Nails perfect teeth brushed. All good till we got the bill to pay. We were charged for a totally different package that was not discussed and was $15 more expensive. They decided to give her the Chi brand bath. However if they were to ask I would've told them that brand of shampoo gives my dog severe itching which is why I specified oatmeal non Chi brand. She was itchy for 2 days till I took her into the vet for allergy pills. The anal extraction was NEVER done I would've even been ok with them charging me for it obviously. No communication whatsoever. Costed me an additional $50 for the vet. The rest of the staff seemed fine. The gal who worked on my dog did apologize as she wasn't aware, she only say what the guy put into the system. We will not be going back and urge others to not use this location for grooming services. The whole environment was uncomfortable and my gut told me in the first place to not use them once I experienced the short but aggressive gentleman who chose to ignore what I needed for my dog and felt the need to do what HE felt was good. As my husband picked our dog up I wasn't there to see what the guy charged us for till I got home from work a few hours earlier. And to that male employee please know in the dog realm most people know what their pets need. I'm thankful my dogs allergic reaction wasn't too sever. Please listen to the owners, if you don't things could've been way worse and you would be help personally liable. Aggression is not appropriate in any situation but especially when you are physical handling a persons pet. read more

This review is for the grooming salon I just picked up my yorkie up from the grooming salon and after I got into the car and pet her, I noticed a HUGE scab on her side that was not there when I dropped her off. So the groomer must have nicked her really bad and use a coagulant to make it stop bleeding. I'm pissed that they don't even tell me about it and the groomer didn't even write her name on the report card! Take ownership for what you did and apologize. I understand things like this happens but at least NOTIFY me. Never returning to this petsmart again. PS: why is my dog always so thirsty and drinks so much water when we get home?
