I LOVE booking an appointment here with Elizabeth for my pup Rex. She's extremely nice and sweet, she's thorough in her grooming with him and always gives me nice helpful tips on how to care for him if she finds something up with his skin or etc. I have yet to come across anyone in the grooming section to be grumpy or anything of that unkind nature. I'd recommend double checking your receipts to make sure they give you the right paper, I got the wrong one and had to pay $20 more than I should have :'( I still enjoy taking him to see Elizabeth though. I personally don't ever know what number to pick in regards of how much to shave off so I just tell her to make him really cute and he always comes out cute. He cries a lot so she does a great job getting the sticky furs near his eyes off, she cuts his tail hairs off well and doesn't miss a spot. I went to Petco once because he needed immediate grooming, it wasn't good at all so now I make sure to book early for Elizabeth. read more

Recently I took my dog for grooming, the grooming service refused to do the job because my dog doesn't have valid Rabies vaccine. I made an appointment with Banfield Pet Hospital to get the vaccine for my dog, I drove 10 miles and got there, then I was told by the front desk my appointment got cancelled because I didn't confirm the appointment within 2 hours window. Everything in the store is over priced and people are not kind and friendly. I will not waste my time and energy to go there again. read more

Worse groomers ever. If you have fluffy dog, don't go there. The lazy groomers there will want to shave down completely even if it's not matted( I guess more $$ for shave down, and they don't have to brush it). Before this weekend, I would've given this place 5 stars. Everytime I go in here, the staff is friendly and always offering to help. I always leave knowing I bought the best type of shampoo, treat or toy for my Bebe. This past weekend I brought my little 4lbs pomeranian for a monthly hair cut. I decided it's time to shave her down since her hair is getting a tad dry and it's not super cold in Irvine. When I left her, poor Bebe got a bit teary eyed, but in no way was she upset or depressed. When I picked her back up, she was shaking and scared. She's never been that scared after a hair cut before! It's been 3 days and still she is depressed and refuses to eat... she NEVER refused food before. I have purchased food, litter and pet toys from this PetSmart. I have also bought some furniture, carriers, beds and soft blankets for my cat. For its well-stocked inventory, I am awarding 5 stars to this PetSmart store. The customer service staff is professional and attentive to customer service. They are always happy to help me and always answer my questions. If I need to place a special order, they have also handled the special order details for me. For its excellent customer service, I am awarding 5 stars to the PetSmart customer staff. I enjoy looking at the cats and kittens in the Cat Adoption area of this PetSmart store (it is managed by a volunteer group called the Orange County Animal Rescue Coalition). The cat adoption area is spotlessly clean and well-maintained. The cats look healthy and well-tended; and definitely get lots of love and attention from their volunteer-care givers. For its dedication to animal rescue and pet adoption, I am awarding 5 stars to the Cat Adoption Volunteer Group at this PetSmart. I bought some neon Tetras from this place last week and all of them are dead except one and they have given my tank Ich. The reason for my review as I came in with my one alive tetra with Eric to show them and ask for a refund. Not only did they refuse to refund me my tetras (I didn't know I had to save dead fish to return, even with proof of an infected one), but didn't provide me any assistance with treating my affected tank. We usually grab dog food here and pricing is about the same as Chewy.com so if you are close, it's more convenient. The biggest reason to knock two stars off is that we've picked up multiple fish here (that died within hours of taking them home) and all the fish tanks (4 total) purchased were faulty. We just kept the last one and the light flickers like it's Halloween. Overall, a good place for pets. read more

Worst grooming salon I have ever been to. After being told to come back in about 4 hours, when we returned we were told my dog wasn't done yet and was still wet. That really annoyed me because they could've called and told me the dog was not going to be ready AND that my dog was sitting there soaking wet for hours. So they said come back in another hour. My husband and I proceeded to a nearby restaurant and had just ordered our food when I received a call that I could now pick up my dog, and oh by the way, the were unable to dry her because she got aggressive?!? That's Bull%^*#!! If you didn't want to finish the job, then you should've just given me my dog when I was there 15 mins ago. I immediately returned to get my dog and she was soaking wet like they had just hosed her down again and she was shaking and terrified of the groomers. What the hell did you people do to her?!? [[GROOMING]] Let me start by saying I used to be a groomer for Petsmart in Lake Elsinore, so I know how their job is. I brought in my 7mo old German shepherd for a bath (no one greeted me) I told them just to cut the dew claws and pinkie toes on the front and not to wash her head because last time she got an ear infection from the water going in. Anyways, 4 hrs later no call, I show up because it's a rule to have them out in four hours. The guy didn't know if she was done. He brings her out and she's still damp after four hours and I know she's good with the dryer so Alexis, her bather, was probably just in a hurry to go home. Whatever. Got home, and notice one of the FOUR nails I asked to be cut is quicked, BAD. She's bleeding everywhere so I'm almost about to cry and I call the store to ask when I can come back to have quickstop put on and her foot washed. The MANAGER says she doesn't know if they can do that... excuse me? Finally, tells me I can come back to have it fixed. Wow, thanks. They really don't care about their customers. Get back into the salon and a guy (no name tag, helpful) tried and repeatedly failed to get her nail to stop bleeding, that's how bad it was. Not only that, but she was so scared to be back there she popped her anal glands (which clearly weren't expressed during the bath). Finally, they took her to the vet to have better stuff put on it to make it stop. But I had to carry her (65lbs!) to the car so it wouldn't open up again. I leave bawling, with my terrified puppy who now smells like a mixture of quickstop, wet dog, and anal glands. No apology from the manager, no nothing. If I could give a zero to this place I would. My roommate was working at the grooming salon. He was the only Male worker, brown and Hispanic and a room full of females. Everyday coking home he would tell me how the salon manager would be giving him a hard time. He mention numerous times how he felt discriminated for the manager mistreating him for being a male and Hispanic. He got fired for accusing him of having COVID-19 with not proof from this racist and sexism company. Technically we both live together and neither one had COVID. Technically the salon manager was finding an excuse to get him fired, on top of that he was blamed for a minor incident with a dog. No proofs from the company or the dog owner were created to show a severe injury. The incident happened a month before the salon manager fired him. The salon manager is pathetic and has no knowledge that in company's theirs process for firing someone depending on how big an issue is. I personally witness certain sex preferences the times I walked in the salon. I really hope PetSmart gets sued for this type of discrimination, favoritism, sexism, and wrongful job termination. We had to get our pups nails grinded down last minute for a lake trip. I saw they had curbside so I assumed I could do that; but since it was our first time I had to go in to show our pups vaccines records. Since I was unprepared I had my newborn with me.. trying to juggle a car seat and an over friendly Aussie pup was a lot but the second I walked in a employee asked if she could help. I told her I was there for a quick nail grind and she graciously offered to take my pup and walk us back to the grooming area. She stayed with us then walked me back up to the front to ring me up. Super impressed and super thankful for the extra help!! I have worked in customer service/restaurant industry all my life and always notice appreciate when employees go above and beyond. They brought my dog back out to the car after the nail grind and gave me an update since it was her first time; the employees there truly care about the animals and making it the best experience. Poor management and a lack of leadership and man power. This place used to be great. There was a gal that worked here whose name unfortunately escapes me but 40s, blonde, short hair, thin and just a joy to be around. She helped us on many occasions find what we needed and would even call other locations if they didn't carry what we wanted. Clearly she was promoted or moved onto bigger and better things. Different story today. I took my lunch hour to pick up my kitty food for the babies and forgot my prescription card so I had to get that at the hospital inside. That poor girl was buried with customers and phone calls and the only one working that area. She gave me the card and I went to get the food which they did not have. I went up front to ask Ariel and bless her heart she tried her best as she was the only cashier and couldn't leave her post. She called over the intercom to send someone back there to help me. I waited 10 minutes and no one ever showed. I walked back up front to tell her and she apologized profusely and asked Christine next to her who was doing nothing but rambling on about goldfish food at the time to help me and she said she couldn't but would let Brenda know and then proceeded to exit the store after letting Brenda know in the office. Ariel apologized again and said it would only be a minute before someone would either come out of that office or the gal in the fish department who had a group of customers waiting on her as well would come help me. I waited another 10 minutes and just gave up burning close to 30 minutes of my lunch hour here with nothing to show for it but a prescription card. Ariel had a line by this point so I wasn't going to ask her a 3rd time and just said deuces PetSmart. Between Ariel trying her best, Fish gal buried with her own customers, too good to help me Christine and invisible Brenda thats 4 employees I saw the entire time working the entire store, two of which that seemed competent. Lisa groomed Bella my Maltese today. I showed her pictures and pacifically told her absolutely do not cut the hair on her face or her eyelashes. When I picked Bella up she no longer has her long eyelashes nor does she have that sweet face with long hair. She shaved her face and cut her lashes to nothing! I am so upset I would highly recommend that you DO NOT use Lisa. I even showed her pictures. Clearly she did not listen to me or look at the pictures. Very upsetting! Puppy Training!! We just finished our 6 week beginner class with Ariel and had such wonderful results! She is super talented and has a great ability to train not only the pups but humans. If I could give 0 stars I would. This place absolutely sucks and I'm done bringing my dogs here. A few past experiences: 1) Booked bath and groom (haircut), the same service as always. When I got there they told me they didn't have time to groom them, only bath. I walked out the door without so much as an apology. 2) I made an appointment two weeks ago and rushed around to get them there on time. When I arrived they told me the groomer called in sick and they called in the morning and left me a voicemail. I only have one phone # (the one they always call me on) and I had no voicemail or even a call. Apologized this time, but didn't do anything to offset the inconvenience and the fact that someone lied about calling me. 3) Appointment made online for 1:30 today. They called this morning and told me "the reservation system was messed up and they weren't able to keep the appointment". After expressing my frustration they told me to go ahead and come in. 10 minutes after leaving they called and told me one of the dogs was nervous and "foaming at the mouth" and they couldn't groom her. Not the case at all - she does get nervous and drools when you put her in a crate and I remind them of this every time and ask them to let me know 30 minutes before they're done so I can get her right away. This review is for Ariel in Pet Training. Just wanted to give a shoutout--she is awesome and such a asset to PetSmart. The classes are fun, she provides so much useful information, especially for new dog owners. Her level of customer service is unmatched--if you have to leave a message for her at the store, your call will be returned promptly. She is also flexible if you need to miss a class, she will work with you to make it up another day. Not to mention, my baby Cookie loves her! You can tell she is very passionate about her job and loves what she does. It's rare to work with someone who you can tell cares about you and your puppy's success. Also, she presents the information in an easy to follow form, and has great tips and tricks for getting our puppies to learn what we're teaching them. I recommend going for puppy training! PetSmart? More like PetSHART. I purchased a few betta fish from Petsmart and after several months decided I would rather not have them. Called up the Petsmart phone number for this location, and I believe the line for fish specifically, and some guy told they don't accept fish back at all. I tried to ask if he knew of any facilities that accept unwanted fish and this half-wit told me I should "Google" it. Talk about an ignorant and unhelpful staff member. If your job is to provide information about fish care and ownership, you should at least know of a few places to bring unwanted fish, or have a few names on hand to refer pet owners to. Imagine if I got lazy or frustrated and just killed my fish because I couldn't think of any other ways to get rid of them and the staff couldn't provide useful insight. Petsmart - please fire this guy or demote him to being on the janitorial staff. Luckily, this story has a good ending - I called PETCO in Irvine and they immediately told me they were willing to accept any unwanted fish. I brought them in and they put them up for adoption. Because guess what, PETCO is a real professional pet store that doesn't operate strictly on making profits and actually cares about your pets and giving people a humane option for getting rid of your fish. PetSmart thinks they are above that. Oh and another note - a few of the other staff members come across like they belong more in a Hot Topic than a pet store. [grooming] Adolfo took the easy way out and shaved my maltipoo when he could've been dematted. I would've even paid extra for that but nope. To add, I had to bring him back for anal cleansing and ear cleaning because he forgot to do them. Odd because Poo's ears were full of fur and wax (hence I wanted to take him to the groomers). They were so bad that when I brought him back to get them cleaned, the girl who took my dog in told me they could only get so much hair out because it was so full. I took him to the vet asap rocky to find that he had an ear infection. I took him to get groomed in hopes of cleaning everything and his biggest health issue was completely avoided in this location. read more

I call the store back and another girl answers, they can no longer find me on file. I called 5 min ago and I no longer exist? She gave up on looking for me and also tells me that they can only call the vet on the day of the appointment. Not many vets are open on Sunday so she said they can just fax it over and they'll look at it Sunday. My appointment is now and the guy said he didn't receive any faxes. So I've wasted my time coming here when they could have simply told me whether or not they received the fax or better yet, if the girl bothered to look when the vet said he faxed the information. read more

Well, if they aren't even that, that's another story. But have no fear! This PetSmart delivers. Came in for a drop off of a grooming appointment and everything went fine. We were gone all day and told them we'd be late picking them up but assured them we'd be back before closing. They proceeded to give us a reminder call as well, which was nice. Otherwise, the store was well stocked, well lit and organized. The manager reminded us that with a grooming appointment a free squeaky toy was available to us which was a fun freebie. Been taking my dog here for baths every month for the past year. The groomers have usually been friendly and happy to see my dog etc. Today I went to drop him off and SHELBY the bather was upset because she claimed I was 1 hour late (they wrote me down at 9a Sun but I know I had changed my appt from Sat 9a to Sun at 10a earlier in the week... I know it wasn't my mistake!) She claimed that there would be no way to take my dog today since "I was late". She didn't offer to take him later in the day or anything. They didn't even call if they saw that I was running "late"; I probably would have been able to make it earlier if i knew I was "late"! Very cold and unprofessional! Will never go back since SHELBY was so rude. Basically you've lost my business for your grooming and probably for your store because of your rude grooming staff, especially SHELBY. Today we took our 8 week old puppy to the Banfield hospital inside of PetSmart. This was our very first visit to the vet and it will be our last visit to the Vet running the show here. The Vet entered the room without introducing himself to me, my husband, or our puppy Willow. He immediately began his physically rough evaluation of her without minding how nervous and upset she was becoming. Willow is incredibly social, we live on a college campus and she has already met a lot of people and generally loves everyone she meets right away. I have never seen her respond to a person the way she reacted to the Vet. She began shaking and vomited before he was done with his evaluation. We had a lot of questions (being new puppy parents and all) and the appointment was very rushed and I didn't feel like we could ask what we needed to. At the end of the very abrupt, impersonal appointment, the Vet kept trying to force feed our puppy treats, which she was fighting. I tried explaining that she didn't want anything and that she was upset and the vet replied, "this is a very normal reaction." He then left the room quickly and came back with a corn syrup like substance on a tongue depressor and was trying to force it into her mouth. I kept asking what it was and he said "something sweet for her." He then wiped it all over the outside of her mouth stating that most dogs would lick it off. Was is medicine? Did she need it? I left with a terrified puppy, my questions not answered, and a sticky gross substance all over her mouth (which she refused to lick and it dried and matted her hair). The only positive was that I did not have to pay the $48 for the exam because I had a coupon. New dog owners, beware! read more

When it comes to stock and cleanliness of the store, this Petsmart is no different from others -- they have everything you'd need, friendly and knowledgeable personnel (for the most part), and everything is pretty easy to find. However, the GROOMING SALON is a disappointment. I've taken my 8lb "schnoodle" here twice and both times have been a disaster! First of all, he's a mini poodle/schnauzer mix... so he's ADORABLE with his hair fluffy. He's not meant to look purely poodle, or purely schnauzer. That's the whole point of the mix concept, isn't it? Apparently, the groomers here don't really care to understand what you're asking for in a haircut. How hard is it to understand "puppy cut", "even ALL AROUND" or "teddy bear cut"? I swear, they must have been taught something completely different because lambo came back both times looking like a sickly awkward little poodle mutt. I had asked specifically if they could keep his same look, and just make it shorter, and I received a blank stare that told me I must have been speaking another language. The first time we went, he came back with fleas. And on the "progress report" that they give you, they marked that everything was perfect. BULLSHIT. But I gave them a second chance, months later, and it's definitely not worth the $45. Both times I was treated rudely by the groomer (different each time) -- they may be dog people, but they definitely don't care too much about the owners. And both times, I was unhappy with the haircut... but they've already made it so short it's unfixable anyway. somebody send me to a new groomer, please!! read more
