I go to this place a lot. The mechanics are great. I showed up today to get the brakes and rotors done for my car. I showed up in within minutes they started working on my car it took them about 40 min to install new brakes and rotors. They only charged me 70$ for installation. Highly recommended. read more

Wow, the reviews were not kidding when the ones I read said that they are friendly and obliging! I usually don't write a review after the first visit, but this place merits an exception. Drove up and parked in the driveway of Phan's Smog Station. A gentleman came out and saw I had my registration for a smog check. He asked me for the keys and I asked for cost. Was reasonably priced. He drove it to the back driveway and connected the computer and ran the test. I was out of there in maybe 15 minutes at most with a passing smog certificate. Would definitely return there and would recommend them. read more

I came out to a flat tire at 3:30pm on Sunday, and found that it had a screw in it. Most places were closed, but I gave them a call. They would be able to fix it before closing! I pumped the tire up and drove down there. I thought I would have to wait a while while they patched it, but the guy fixed it in like five minutes and I was able to get home in time to not disrupt my family's plans. Just 15 bucks! read more

This is the first time I needed to get a STAR smog check, so I couldn't go to my usual place, Automotive Service and Repair. Chris from Automotive Service referred me to his friend next door at Phan's Smog Station. It wasn't the prettiest shop (the waiting area is just a few chairs outside in the driveway) but they got the job done quickly and efficiently. They were working on another car when I arrived, but they told me I'd be next. 5 minutes later my car was being tested. About 15 minutes later, my car was done! They charged me $51.70 plus $8.25 for the electronic transfer fee = $59.95 total for a STAR smog check. Nice, polite, efficient. Thank you! read more

This is the best place in Newark and the tri city area. The guys there are very nice, professional and know what they are doing. They are very fast and convenient but sometimes are busy on the weekends. I've been coming here for years I bring all my family's cars here for smog and used tires, tire balancing and install and for the awful occasion of a nail in the tire. read more

Called really close to closing time to find a used tire. The guy I talked to was super patient and didn't rush me and offered all the help he could. Needed a change of tire since mine was becoming bald. Luckily they were open on Sunday. They had the tire in stock at an awesome price. After getting home I noticed that they did not balance the tire. That all the weights inside were gone in the inner rim. Please also keep in mind that I am about 45 minutes away. So in all be sure to double check before you leave. read more

Phan's done every smog check I needed in the last eight years. He moved into his current location when California started requiring smog tests on a dynamometer; before that he worked out of a couple of service stations in Fremont. You can get a smog test done anywhere, but I defy you to find someone else who works this hard to make sure you don't have to wait any longer than is absolutely necessary. read more

they charged $10 just to check the tire if there was any hole or crack that might have caused leaking. i've never been charged to have someone just taking a look at my tire before. i usually pay $10 for adding in a patch on the tire... and my tire didn't need a patch or whatnot. i now truly appreciate the tire stations/shops way more that who are authentic/honest not those just looking for making the money/profit off the customers. read more

Everyone was friendly and service for a smog check was very quick on a Saturday morning (15 minutes). Paid $60 out the door.
