tried this place for houston restaurant week! $39 for three courses and we enjoyed everything for the apps, the kerabu prawns were my favorite. the sweet and tangy mango papaya slaw was balanced out really nicely by the crunchy peanuts, which cut through some of the sweetness. the roti was flaky and nicely done, but nothing particularly memorable for the entrees, the beef rendang and malaysian chicken curry were similar in flavor profile, but i preferred the beef since the braising made it more tender whereas the chicken was pretty dry. i really really enjoyed the potatoes in both dishes! the chili prawns had some of the same sweet and tangy flavors as the kerabu prawns. the scrambled eggs were a great touch, adding a creamy, velvety element that mellowed out the dish. it felt like a more thoughtful take on the westernized asian sweet and sour stir fry. unfortunately, there was no spice at all, not even a hint of chili :( the cheesecake and tiramisu we chose for dessert were both yummy, although i wish they offered some malaysian sweets instead of more generic dessert options service was fantastic and attentive throughout the entire meal. that being said, while im glad i finally got to try phat eatery, the prices are a little steep for the portions. i also expected to be amazed considering their awards, but it was good at best, so i dont think id go out of my way to come back.
We stopped by Phat Eatery on our way back from San Antonio (we live in the loop so Katy is "far" for us ). Parking is challenging since there are so many stores near each other, but we found a spot at the back of the parking lot in front of the grocery store. Our server was great, very helpful with recommendations. Food was super tasty! Would definitely recommend the roti canai, Hainanese chicken, & beef rendang!

I wish I could give Phat Eatery a 10/10 because that's truly what they deserve. The food here is phenomenal and some of the most authentic Malaysian food I've had. Every time I come here, I'm reminded how special it is when a restaurant truly cares about quality and flavor. My absolute favorite dish is the pineapple fried rice with shrimp, it's packed with flavor and perfectly cooked every time. I also love the honey basil wings, which are seriously addictive. Another must-order for me is the roti with chicken curry. The roti is soft and flaky, and the curry is incredibly rich and comforting without being overly spicy, which I really appreciate. It's my fave!! The drinks are great, the prices are very reasonable, and everything on the menu feels thoughtfully prepared. It's honestly getting harder these days to find restaurants that consistently serve food with this much care and authenticity, but Phat Eatery absolutely delivers. I could probably eat here every day, that's how much I love their food. If you're in Houston "Katy" and love Malaysian cuisine (or just amazing food in general), this place is a must. Highly recommend.
We had a great experience from start to finish. The food was delicious, so many options, and they had a great lunch menu for Monday-Fridays. Last but not least, our waitress was so sweet and nice! We ordered the following: Roti Canai - The roti is soooo good! Thin and flakey, but still pillowy and soft. Served with a curry like sauce but light on the curry flavor, just very savory. The sauce wasn't curry like though.. it was kinda gloopy. Didn't love the gelatinous texture of the sauce, but the roti itself, fire. Char Kway Teow (lunch portion) - Lunch portion is perfect for one if this is all you're eating. Perfect for 2-3 if you have other dishes to share. It's basically a dry chow fun, except they add in sweet Chinese sausage. They had like 3 shrimps in this lunch dish too, so not stingy at all with the protein. I liked the smokiness but I do wish they had sriracha or a spice rack as I like my foods a little spicy. I didn't ask for it though, so it's possible they do have spicy condiments. Sizzling Beef (lunch portion) - Portion size same as above. This is a very savory dish, border line a little salty for me. The presentation is real cute. They bring out a hot cast iron plate, with red onions on it, and then they spoon the beef entree from a metal container onto the cast iron so that it starts to sizzle. A little extra for sure, but it adds to the ambiance so I appreciate that effort. The bell peppers and onions were so sweet and helped to balance the sauce. The beef was nice and tender! Beef Rendang - This dish is the main reason why I chose to visit. This is only on the main dinner menu and yes it's a bit pricey, but it's a large portion and the dish is cooked well. It's basically a dry curry stew, as the curry notes are fairly strong. This is typically cooked with coconut milk but the coconut notes were very mild. While I did call it a stew, its not saucy. The beef was nice and tender but a little dry on some piece, and the potatoes in the dish held their shape nicely. They left some fat on the beef (I get it, fat is flavor) but I personally don't like that squishy texture in my meat. This is a dish worth ordering, especially if you've never had it, as it's flavor profile is quite unique. Idk if a pot of rice comes automatically or if it's because we ordered the beef rendang which is a dinner dish or what. But everyone had a pot of rice on the table from the looks of it, so it may be safe to say it comes with all entrees. They give you a real hefty serving of rice too, which is appreciated cause my BF eats hella rice lol When we packed our food to go, the server asked if wanted to pack the rice and I let her know we actually finished it. She was kind enough to give me a whole to go box of rice as well. Sooooo sweet! I made sure we ate all our leftovers too! I'm from the Bay (California) and tbh Malaysian/Indonesian food is kinda hard to find and the places that do serve it are super far from me. I was so stoked to find such a nice restaurant that not only served some of my favorites but served them WELL. Would highly recommend a visit if you're in the area and wanting something different from your usual Asian eats.
A restaurant that's a James Beard finalist should blow me away and although Phat Eatery was good, it didn't necessarily wow me. The beef rendang was recommended online, but I wouldn't get it here. The meat was in large chunks and very tough, not ideal for a dish that's supposed to be cooking for hours until tender. The roti canai was standard and the chicken flat noodles was the best dish of the meal (could taste the wok hei as Cantonese people would say). The milk tea was similar to a HK milk tea. There were three open tables yet my party of two was told to wait and we waited for 20 minutes. Will try again in the future and choose different dishes.
Phat Eatery in Katy has become my go‑to spot, especially since it's so close to work. The food is consistently amazing, and the Hainanese chicken is my absolute favorite: perfectly tender, deboned, and served with three great sauces. They're especially generous with the ginger, which I love. The roti canai is always soft and comforting, perfect for dipping. Reliable, delicious, and super convenient, I can't ask for more!
Really nice dining experience here at Phat Eatery. This was my first time having Malaysian food and how server was great at explaining the menu and giving recommendations. The Roti Canai with Curry Chicken Dip appetizer was amazing. Our absolute favorite of our dining experience. The Hainanese Chicken I was told is a signature dish here. It was good but I wasn't blown away by it and it wasn't bad enough to take a point away. The restaurant itself was very clean and is really cute and it has a very street vendor vibe. I definitely recommend.
I wanted to treat myself to a great weekend meal and stopped by Phat Eatery, which did not disappoint! It admittedly started off a bit oddly. I entered around 3pm on a Sunday and the hostess was reluctant to give me a table and insisted on the bar, despite my visibly seeing at least 3 tables open just from where I was standing. I'm understanding of smaller venues with limited tables, I mean I lived in NYC, but when you have a paying customer in front of you, there are open tables and a request for one, and it's not a peak time, I mean come on where's the hospitality! After they called the manager, I did get a table (the one in front of me never filled up either, not exactly a busy time). Luckily, the food did make up for it. My server was friendly too and made good recommendations, although sadly the Beef Rendang wasn't nearly ready to serve. I suppose I'd have to come back for dinner sometime. I got a Lychee Sunrise to start, which was fantastic. It was too early for me to start drinking alcohol, so this worked fine. The Roti Canai with chicken curry for dipping was tasty, with the former being super flaky and delicious. The chicken in the curry was boneless, but they could've done a better job removing the skin and tendons. The curry was on the sweeter side, which worked well as a dipping sauce. The Har Gau (soft shrimp dumplings) were made fresh and delicate. It came with mustard for dipping, which was new to me, but worked very well. Now I was getting a bit overwhelmed, as like in many Asian restaurants, food tends to come out as they're made rather than timed as courses, oop. My Sizzling Tofu entree came with a generous portion of rice, with an amazing garlicy brown sauce (has minced chicken & shrimp, but they do have a vegetarian version) poured table side for that sizzling action. It was so flavorful, lots of depth and very filling. I got mine a bit spicy, which has 5 levels of spice of your choosing. Like a lot of the trendier restaurants and shops here, they do use one of those digital payment systems like Toast which some super high suggested default tips. I thought it was a bit funny as you refill your own water with the bottle they give you, but my server was friendly and gave me a show, so a generous tip was well earned.
The chili prawn reminded me a lot of Singapore chili crab style sauce at Jumbo Seafood. Really well made. Roti is excellent - crispy hot and flaky. I would maybe eat it with the Beef Randang over the chicken curry they give. But all in all, excellent lunch experience.
This time, we ordered off their usual menu with some out of town friends. We ordered sizzing tofu, roti with two curries (beef was off menu), Hokkien noodles, beef rendang. I ordered a pandan colada for myself. I would get this drink again. It's amazing. Back to the food. This was all good for four people near closing time. Everything amazing. I would order this set again. The beef rendang does have a slight kick to it. No shrimps in this menu set because one of us has a shrimp allergy which they great accommodated for us. Tofu is a favorite! Roti was super stuff and tasty. Our server was very sweet and was actually the one who told us about the beef curry that was off menu to try with the roti. The place was clean and easy on the eyes. Parking is free and out front.
Award winning restaurant for a good reasons. Service and atmosphere: Outstanding service from get go. Our server was polite, friendly and very knowledgeable about food on a menu. She helped us decide on our dishes selection by recommendations. The restaurant was clean, structured, very modern and comfortable. Open bar area in the middle is very nice. Food and drinks: Delicious and well thought through dishes. Traditional selections with fragrant ingredients and seasonings. All of that gave the food authenticity test. The portions were generous. Big selection of various beverages to choose from. Pricing: $$ - super worth it and we will be coming back to dine in here again.
Service was great. The roti canai, beef, sizzling tofu, and the stir fried rice noodle were yummy and came out with timeliness. Love their attention to detail and easy seating for lunch on a weekday. The restaurant was clean and friendly.

Amazing flavors all around! My husband and I came on a Holiday Monday for lunch before heading back to Austin. The restaurant is decorated with cool signs from Malaysia and red lanterns in honor of the Lunar New Year. There's lot of seating inside and service was fantatic. For two people, we ordered the Roti Canai, Hainanese Chicken and Sizzling Tofu. WOOOW!! All had fantastic flavor. The Roti was flaky and buttery. The curry dipping was creamy, with just enough spice. The skin of the Hainanese Chicken melted in my mouth and the meat was very juice. The Sizzling Tofu, is homemade egg tofu and reminded of a very well made egg foo young. Overall, all of the flavors pair very well together. We had to get a to go box and were were very excited to eat it all again for dinner. Will definitely come back to try the curry next time. read more

So far I've found it to be the best Malaysian restaurant in town! Their food have a very balanced taste, which I loved about it. I'm a hard core non-veg and I seldom order any veg dishes when eating out. To my surprise, here my favorite dish turned out to be their sizzling tofu! It has the right kick with nice and crispy tofu topped with the sizzling delicious gravy. This dish has got to be in my order every time I return. Also, loved their roti canay with chicken dip. Roti is soft and fluffy. Chicken dip is mild and felt very homely. So does their Malaysian chicken, its so fresh and felt homely. Sweet basil chicken has a hint of sweetness to it but good balance of sweet and savory dish. Their freshly made juices are worth trying. They have some really interesting mix of ingredients. Those are not just another sweet drink of juice. I won't say that those juices tasted the best however they seemed to be so healthy and refreshing. They are so unique and must try. read more

Once you go Malaysian that isshhhh amazing! This was my first time eating this type of food and WOW. Truthfully if this place was next to me, I'd get PHAT AF. I loved it. When you first walk in, you feel like you're in a different town! They have signs up as if you were in the streets to get street food. The bread (a special name for it but I forgot) with the curry was bussin. I honestly never had a better bread and soup combo. We definitely ordered round 2. We also got salt and pepper squid and other dishes my uncle ordered but I forgot the name. All I'm saying is none of the menu items disappointed. Service was great. read more
We used to live in Katy last Century and wow what a change. We were happy to see an Asian Town so we popped in and Malaysian sounded good. We have had it a few times here in Las Vegas and really enjoyed. Everything about Phat was great. The atmosphere, the service and of course the food. Highly recommend read more

Beyond excited to have a restaurant like Phat Eatery in the woodlands. There aren't many Asian restaurants with the type of cocktails and menu like Phat on the north side that we've found. They're still in a soft opening phase so menu wasn't as vast as Katy location but still - the food was awesome and the service was really good. DEFINITELY a restaurant not to be missed read more

The decor and street signs make you feel like you're eating in a side-street somewhere in Southeast Asia. If you go here hungry, don't worry the food comes out fast. Make sure there's an order of their excellent curry laksa... or even 2 orders! Seriously addictive. read more

Some amazing Malaysian food with casual ambiance and friendly staff. We ordered the roti and chicken curry appetizer, veg dumplings and flat rice noodles. Roti and chicken curry was the best of all and the roti was crisp and flaky and tasted really fresh! Rice noodles were good with the right flavors and not too spicy and had the right amount of veggies and was not heavy at all . The veggie dumpling was not upto the mark and was oily so would not really recommend it . The juices were outstanding - we had the guava with camu camu and passion+dragon fruit drinks and worth getting them ! Overall great experience with good food and ambiance . read more

I've been raving about wanpo to my friend for months now and they have never really gone to Katy to explore it since they live so far. I took them to one of the few Malaysian restaurants in the Houston area. There was a 20-30 minute wait but we spent that time looking at Yeppo a few doors down. The inside of the restaurant is decorated in a way where you feel like you have transported to a night market overseas. I got the hainanese chicken with fragrant pandan rice, they got the . The chicken is poached with a flight of sauces (green onion and ginger, spicy sauce, and soy sauce. My friend got the char kway teow which includes shrimp calamari, Chinese sausage, bean sprout, egg, and chives. We also got a roti canai as an appetizer. The roti came out first, it is an Indian flatbread with a curry dip. I really loved the flakiness of the roti, it went well with the curry sauce. The Hainanese chicken was so good. The chicken is perfectly soft and the bed of sauce it sits in was really delicious. My favorite dipping sauce was the spicy one. The pandan fragrant rice was a little dry but I still liked it. The char kway teow looked small but it is actually a really big portion. It had the wok flavor in it as well. Just a really solid bowl of noodles. We had so much leftovers afterwards. read more

Amazing ambience within Katy Asian Town and great servers. Cold water are served at each table and gave adequate time to look through their menu. Phat (adjective) - pretty hot and tempting Anyways, to my first date out during pandemic food experience. I have been craving for delicious roti canai ever since a friend of a friend's family sold Penang. Roti canai was almost perfect but not as flavorful as I would have liked. The texture is there though. Maybe I came in too early of the day. The main dishes I ordered are Hainanese chicken-half (served with pandan fragrant rice) and "CK Teow" Char Kway Teow. Char Kway Teow is stir fry flat noodle with seafood. Delicious with flavor. Overall, for being located in Katy Asian Town, not bad. Fun question - do you know which highway they adopted? read more

The atmosphere is a night city vibe. We ordered off their weekday lunch menu and the portion size is good enough for two people. The staff is very friendly. I would recommend the snow pea leaves with garlic. Another favorite off the lunch menu is their mee goreng. Price is average. read more

Dined in around 11:30am on a Saturday in a party of four. It wasn't too busy quite yet so no wait, but the lunch crowd quickly trickled in afterwards. We ordered a variety of foods and drinks. They (strategically?) labeled some items award-winning so how can we not order those? They certainly lived up to the standard- the kerabu prawns were so refreshing, topped with the tastiest papaya/mango salad...great pair. The beef rendang is also a must, so tender and delectable. We also really enjoyed the roti, particularly paired with the chicken curry dip. The roti was perfectly flaky and paired so well with the dip. CK Teow also SO delicious. Honestly was quite the challenge just picking a few dishes, everything turned out amazing and so tasty. Highly recommend for Malaysian food in Katy. It is located in a plaza with plenty of parking and the noise level is low. read more

Absolutely stellar restaurant. The service was amazing and the food was delicious+incredible. The cocktail menu was great too. I got the Roti canai w/satay skewers, omg fantastic. The roti is so fluffy and light, the curry sauce is herbal and savory. Skewers were super tender and tasty. The entire table loved both. My cousin and his girlfriend had the Beef Rendang and Mango chicken. Both were also great, beautiful flavors and spice is not overpowering. Will definitely be coming here again. The juice menu is freaking fresh amazing too!! read more

Why 3 stars? Because pretty much everything was bland. --- --- --- This is one of those reviews I really hate to write. I was incredibly excited to come here. It was arguably in the top-5 on my list of places I wanted to try in Greater Houston. But I'm so sad. The food was almost all very disappointing. And our server was super nice/helpful, which bums me out even more. But if I am being very honest, 3-stars is generous for the food we received. The appetizers ended up being the best part: we really enjoyed the roti canai and while the pork belly buns were kind of different, we would have ordered them again. As for the entrees, we went with the CK Teow, Sizzling Beef Black Pepper and Pineapple Fried Rice. Again, this is painful to say, but we were so underwhelmed. All three were incredibly bland. We did ask for them not to be spicy, so it's possible that the chef would say that the lack of spice led to the lack of flavor, but there are certainly a million ways to create flavor without heat. We just kept eating everything, hoping we'd find some hint of zest. But sadly, it never came. And if anything, as time went on and the food slowly became less hot, the taste was worsening. Our server did come by and asked how everything was. I lied and said it was fine. I felt bad about that, but you feel like such a jerk to say, "we don't really like anything on this table." I didn't have the heart to do it because I don't know that there is anyway to do so with tact. When we lived in Tampa Bay, there was a place very similar to this that we loved. I was hoping that Phat Eatery would be the Texas-version of Hawkers. But that is not how it worked out for us. read more

We're rarely in the area, but we decided to drive out to Katy to check out the manga store and wanted to grab lunch first. We chose Phat Eatery based on Yelp reviews and a friend's recommendation. Upon entering the restaurant, I immediately felt like I was on a street, in a trendy area, somewhere in Asia. It's a super cute concept and set up, and the atmosphere felt hip and vibrant. We tried the soft shell crab salad which was my fave, the sizzling tofu which I thought needed to be softer/more tender, the beef Rendang which is basically a curry i prefer chicken), and a flat noodle dish that we substituted the seafood with beef. Overall the service was good, the staff was friendly, and the place was clean, but don't expect Bellaire/"Chinatown" prices. read more

It was a long drive to check out Phat Eatery in Katy. The experience was okay. We may have ordered the wrong things. Roti canoi was the bomb but the Malaysian chicken curry was very oily and the CK Teow wasn't memorable. Service at the bar was good. Their alcoholic specialities were delicious. We'll have to give it another try if we are in the area. read more
This is one of those restaurants where you want to make your way through the entire menu. The restaurant is too small for how popular/good it is lol it's a good problem for them to have, but not for customers at peak hours. Service is always phenomenal, even when packed. Food is delicious and comes out in a timely manner. Only improvements that can be made are more napkins and more tables lol KERABU PRAWN SALAD W/ TRUFFLE AIOLI: The truffle only comes with the HRW option, and I didn't really notice it. Aside from that, it's just the normal Kerabu Prawn on the regular menu, which is tasty and light. Each piece is so big, you should definitely bite it instead of trying to scarf it down in one go. TRUFFLE HAR GAU: The truffle option is only available on the HRW menu, but this was so delicious and had amazing texture! It was so fresh, soft, and perfectly steamed! The truffle flavor wasn't strong, so it was basically the regular har gau on the normal menu, but it was the best har gau I've had and made me want to come back for more! CHILI LOBSTER TAIL: This was only available on the HRW menu, but the dish is essentially the same as the chili prawn, just with lobster tail instead and added sweet bao buns. It had good flavor overall. The lobster was surprisingly soft, maybe a little too soft for my taste. The dish started off mild, but the spice builds as you keep eating. And the fried bao was mildly sweet, complimenting the spiciness of the dish. DURIAN PANDAN ICE CREAM: This flavor combo was only on the HRW menu, but at one point, these two flavors were available separately on the regular menu. The flavors were delicious! They tasted mild, but were somehow very flavorful and complimented each other so well! The ice cream itself was super rich and creamy in texture, and definitely worth trying! ROTI CANAI: Everybody loves it for a reason. I don't even need to say anything, but I will lol the bread resembles the flaky, delicate texture and flavor of a croissant, definitely good enough to eat alone, while the curry dip tastes light, but still flavorful, as to not overpower the hero of the dish that is the bread. SALT AND PEPPER CALAMARI: This could definitely be an entree, but it's so good, the rest of your party will keep picking off of your plate, so they had to make it an appetizer lol lightly fried and seasoned perfectly, it's an easy choice to make...get it! SIZZLING TOFU: My whole party liked it, it had good flavor, but I'm not a fan of wrinkly skin tofu, so it wasn't for me. BEEF RENDANG: This was delicious!! It had a really tasty, curry flavor and the meat was super tender with some chewy tendon-y parts I really enjoyed! HOKKIEN MEE: This was alright, definitely not my favorite dish I've gotten here. I usually like thick noodles, but something about it didn't click for me, maybe the flavor was too heavy along with the thickness of the noodle. I definitely wanted something light to offset the heaviness of the dish. My bf liked it though, so it depends on your preference. SOFTSHELL CRAB SALAD: The two crabs had good flavor and were a nice size, but we only ate the crabs and left the salad (oops!), so idk if it was worth the price if you're not gonna eat the whole dish like us lol MALAYSIAN CHICKEN CURRY: This was the same curry the ROTI W/ CURRY CHICKEN DIP came with, if you're thinking about getting both. It's a generous portion and has great curry flavor, but, beware, I got tricked a few times by pieces of potato that looked like chicken lol CK TEOW: I feel like I must've gotten unlucky with this one because it was pretty bland, but considering the great flavor in all of the other dishes, I feel like it must've been a fluke. read more
More than a four, but not quite a five. Delicious food and interesting dishes. Some were a bit heavily sauced but ok. Menu was a bit limited in choices, especially the apps. Veggies on all dishes were fresh and delish. Wine list was "ok". I think biggest complaint considering portion size and quality was price. Worth trying again tho! read more

The star dish here is the half Hainanese Chicken. It was absolutely delicious!! Craving it as I'm writing this review. I can imagine the strong sesame oil smell with the juicy chicken and ginger dipping sauce. Honestly, the three side dipping sauces that's provided are not even needed since the sauce that the chicken sits in is already flavorful. It was so good, I had to return another day for it togo. We also had the shrimp siu mai, roti canai, satay skewers, and I think the Hokkien mee noodles. Yes, they offer a few dim sum plates here but it'll take a little longer to prepare. So for those of you who crave it on a random day and time, there you go. The satay were tasty as well, with the dipping sauce and all. I think the least favorite was the noodles dish. The prices here are a bit high but it's worth the try. As for the service, our waitress was attentive. read more
Favorite Malaysian restaurant I've had in the houston area! It can get very busy at times but it's well worth the drive and wait. The server recommended so many great dishes so here are some of my favorites. Roti canai was amazing and is a must have! So flakey, buttery and slightly chewy. It comes in either with a plain curry dip or a curry dip with boneless chicken and chicken oil/fat. I liked the chicken version better as it gave it a slight "oomph" and savoriness to it but both were still great. Sizzling tofu comes out on a sizzling plate and the gravy like sauce is poured over the tofu at the table. It's so packed with flavor but what makes it so special is the texture of the tofu. The inside is so soft while the outside is fried is slightly chewy. Pairs amazingly with the complimentary rice. Beef rendang was super tender and literally falls apart when just touching it with a fork. Ck teow also was wonderful and very similar to Chinese/Thai flat noodle dishes. It's not too oily or heavy which was why it was so hard for me to stop eating this. read more
What's not to like about Phat Eatery? After my first time, I did not find any. Located off Colonial Parkway in Katy's Asia Town Phat Eatery offers Malaysian cuisine at it's finest. A native of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Chef Alex imparts his culinary expertise for your benefit. A James Beard Foundation Semi Finalist in 2022, Phat Eatery has garnered quite a following. With no outside seating and located in an outdoor shopping mall (Asia Town), Phat Eatery has an eclectic contemporary interior that would impress most. There are brightly colored neon signage placed tastefully all around the restaurant's insterior with booths and tables scattered throughout. There's a large neon sign on one wall defining the word Phat (adjective) to mean highly attractive or gratifying. But on the opposite wall they offer the other definition of Phat (nount) to mean pretty hot and tempting! Pretty clever. There's a bar area situated centrally in the restaurant with a limited offering of fine wines and beverages. Our party of 6 were seated quickly and our server appeared soon after with our drink orders. Our ice water was served in a pre-chilled labelless wine bottle to serve ourselves. Stephanie and Valerie wanted hot water so they brought us a cute little porcelin teapot. She offered appertizers and suggestions, but we knew what we wanted. After our server placed our order electronically using a small ipad device, food started arriving very quickly! The traditional yellow colored Hainanese pandang flavored rice arrived in an old style alumnimun "pot". Our plate of hainanese chicken was nicely plated. The succulent slices of chicken were placed on a light sauce of soy sauce with sesame oil. Garnished with slices of cucumber and accompanied with a wonderful chili sauce and fresh ginger condiment, the poached chicken was cooked to perfection. Yom Yom Yom. Next up was our Sizzling Tofu with chicken and shrimp. The kids were most impressed as our server "presented" the dish by pouring the hot toppings onto the tofu and hot plate. The flavors of this dish are difficult to describe. The lightly fried pieces of tofu just melted in your mouth and the chopped shrimp and minced chicken were on point. Yom Yom Yom. A rather small portion, the famous Char Kway Teow was served in a small bowl. Flat rice noodles stir fried in a little sriracha, soy sauce, calamari, shrimp, chinese sausage, egg, bean sprouts and finaly granished with chives, this one of my favorite dishes and it did not disappoint. Yom Yom Yom Yom. We were in a noodle mood so we also tried the Hor Fun. Again, flat rice noodles but this time stir fried in a famous sambal belacan, with yu-choy veggies, chicken, tomatores, egg, onions, dried shrimp and bean sprouts. Also excellent. Yom Yom Yom. The Mee Goreng is made with thin egg noodles stir fried with chicken, shrimp, tomatoes, onions, egg, pieces of tofu, with a smattering of peanutes and flavored with a little of lemon. A traditional Malaysian street food, mee goreng has different variations and this one with a little bit of heat also did not disappoint. Yom Yom Yom. Finally our Nasi Lemak arrived. It was a tiny buffet served on a banana leaf. The fragrant coconut flavored rice was perfect. A nice portion of their chicken curry (also served with their roti) was delicious. You get a fried egg and some ikan bilis (peanuts with fried anchovies) and finally beautiful slices of fresh cucumber. Tastes just like home! Yom Yom Yom Yom! From her friendliness to attentiveness, our server, Nathalia, was outstanding. She was very knowledgeable about the dishes and explained their interesting Feed Me experience for the more adventurous foodie. Your server askes a few poignant questions, then "surprises" your party with a 6 course meal of appertizers, entrees and desserts. Not to worry, if you really don't like a dish, you can try another. My bestest? All of them! My least favorite? The prices and that I can only eat so much at one sitting. Chef Alex's skills are legit. I would love to try more of his menu with the ren dang and laksa at the top of my list. So now I have another reason to visit Houston in addition to visiting family! I have no concerns that Phat Eatery won't be around. Keep creating this kind of food and they'll be opening another location soon. read more

We traveled from Los Angeles where we can find Michelin Malaysian food just around the corner of our house, but Phat Eatery has exceeded our expectations. Char Kwey Tiau- 10/10, very well flavored, has that smoky fragrance (iykyk) and the shrimp sauce that goes with it reminds me of Malaysian food stands Hainan chicken rice 7/10 - chicken very juicy, rice was just too bland and flaky, sauces can definitely be improved. Roti canai - 5/10 - is roti canai, hard to mess this up. Curry dipping sauce was flavorful. Overall we think it's a solid 4/5 star for us. Presentation was great, service excellent, and ambience reminds us of being in Malaysia Will be a place to come back to! read more
Really good and fresh Roti Canai! It was only 5 dollars and the Roti with Curry Chicken Dip was also really good. My friends and I ordered 1 for each person because we loved it so much. Phat Eatery had plenty of seating, plus a central bar area. Our waitress was attentive and came over to check on us often. We ordered the Tumeric Defense juice and the Pandan Colada mocktail. Both were DELICIOUS and refreshing af. Got the Phat Dim Sum Platter to share - this was made to order so very fresh and flavorful, but wished we had gotten the Roti or Satay instead in hindsight. Then we split the CK Teow noodles (spicy, medium) and it was the bomb! Wonderfully seasoned, perfect amount of spice, and had plenty of squid, shrimp, and Chinese sausage and they bean sprouts were still crunchy. Highly recommend this spot! We came at a pretty busy time but the restaurant is spacious and we were seated very quickly. Here are things we ordered: - Salt and Pepper Calamari - "CK Teow" Char Kway Teow - Truffle Bone Marrow Fried Rice - Hainese Chicken - Half (Served w/ Pandan Fragrant Rice) - Award-Winning Beef Rendang Everything tasted great but the dishes that impressed us the most were the "CK Teow" Char Kway Teow, Award-Winning Beef Rendang, and the Hainese Chicken. CK Teow's noodles were cooked perfectly with a savory sauce and the meats/veggies that came with made this dish a must order. The award-winning beef randang was also packed with flavor and the beef was very tender. It also went perfectly with the rice that came with the Haiense Chicken. Speaking of the Hainese Chicken, this dish came with 3 sauces and even though the chicken was already delicious by itself, the fragrant rice and sauce made it even better. As for the salt and pepper calamari, this was also great as an appetizer. The one dish that was a little overhyped was the truffle bone marrow fried rice. The presentation is exciting since the staff comes and shaves the truffle in front of you but in terms of the actual dish itself, it was pretty underwhelming and lacked salt. Overall, the staff/service was amazing and with all of this food, it came to about $25 per person which wasn't bad at all for the variety and amount of food we all ate. I've been here several times and have loved the food every time. It's in Katy asiantown so a bit of a drive if you live in town but worth it!! Lots of parking available. It does seem to get busy at times so make a rez. It's a chill vibe so no need to be dressed up. Good for groups and kids too. When it's just my husband and me, we do the chef's special (I think that's what it's called and I'm not 100% sure they still do this) which is letting the waiter pick your foods for you. I've liked all the dishes from Phat Eatery so I'd recommend doing this if the menu seems overwhelming cuz everything looks good. The wait staff are friendly and the food comes out quick. Be sure to do family style vs getting your own dish. read more
