Favorite happy hour Wings spot! Phebes have a great HH special. 1/2 price on appetizers 5-8PM and on mondays & wednesdays it's 25 cent wings with a purchase of a pitcher of beer. I love coming here with my friends, the food here is really good. Every time we come, we get the spinach & artichoke dip, wings, sliders, chicken tenders, tator tots, calamari and nachos. Basically everything on the menu ! We can't resist. Sounds like everything is perfect huh ? But I couldn't give it 5 stars because they waitresses can be rude and unreasonable. There was one time where my girlfriends and I got seated at 740 right before 8'oclock when happy hour ends. The waitress finally decides to come over to serve us at 8. We placed our order and she told us that we will not be getting the happy hour special for half off because it's already 8. I heart Phebe's. We had a cute little table by the window in a corner which, believe it or not, was romantic at 9 on a Saturday night. I had the french onion soup, he had the Cajun chicken. We were "those guys" and ordered a bottle of wine. Stephanie & Jill were fantastic amidst the chaos, checking on us and relighting our candle when I accidentally blew it out trying to eat my soup. We met with friends after at the bar and stayed until 2. Bartender of the backroom was OK, fast but not my favorite. Food pricing was very reasonable, drinks a little steep. What to say about phebes? Went there on Sunday to check out the Spain v Netherlands wc final. Good fun crowd, three dollar bud light drafts, lots of space. Overall a good time and a good venue. Stay away from this poorly run establishment. They are RUDE and AGGRESSIVE. Read the 1 star reviews! This establishment refuses to serve people that don't look like them. They use full force to throw people out based on reviews. I'm appalled at the treatment I received at this restaurant/bar. I have never sat down for dinner and drinks with family and friends to then be harassed, yelled at, accused of being intoxicated, told what we can and cannot order and told "we could not be served and if we don't like it we could leave." The waitress was extremely rude and seemly being as nasty as she could be so she did not have to serve us. When I spoke to the manager he was dismissive and admittedly reported coaching the waitress. After speaking with him (over the phone) it was apparent that he has ZERO customer service skills. He even said he witnessed the entire exchange and that I should have approached HIM. Pretty chill place. The thing that brought us here was the happy hour special; half-off appetizers and all drinks. Half price is a great deal for food and liquor drinks but not so much for the beer. Examples: boneless chicken wings - $3.95 - tasty and spicy grey goose dirty martini - $6 - well made, deal of the century abita amber draft - $4 - tasty, but $8 originally....really?!? I went here last nite (Friday nite) and realized that this place is the worst...Now i've been here before, and on a friday nite, so i knew what to expect upon entering, but i still hated it! Now I knew it would be packed, and it lived up to my expectations...however, i was not expecting it to be packed with about 100 of NYC's most blakkout drunken college kids...I mean, i've never in my life seen such a wide assortment of stumbling drunken morons...it was a new world record for people crashing into me, bumping into me, or spilling things on me, destroying the previous record by almost a gallon of cranberry & vodka!! I learned that nite, that the only thing worst that watching your favorite basketball team get eliminated from the playoffs in the first round, is watching your team get eliminated AT Phebe's! Really great happy hour specials, and they even have half off select appetizers! I recommend you come in on a Wednesday as they have 10 cent wings starting at 8PM if you buy a pitcher of beer for $10. 10 cent wings, spacious, cheap place to hang out w/ friends This place has re-opened (or been opened) when I visited in Oct '07 and 2 more times in November. My friends introduced me to this placed back in October when they found a place that has 10 cent wings. Well, its not really 10 cent wings. Its 10 cent wings Monday and Wednesday after 9PM if you order a pitcher of beer. This is not a foodie place as the wings are average, so its more about quality than quantity. It was nice sized place, definitly had some room to dance and it has a decent back area where there is another smaller bar in addition to the long one in the front. I'm not really sure why some people call Phebe's generic but for me, it was a good place to have some wings, burger, and a drink on a lazy Thursday night. Went here with a few friends and although we didn't go on the right day for specials (10 cent wings sounded awesome), the happy hour didn't disappoint with half price beers and wings. Ordered a few burgers after the apps and although they weren't out of this world, they were pretty darn good. I ordered a medium Jack Daniel's burger, which came out on giant buns with a good slab of ground beef...probably close to 1/3 lb worth. Smashed together with all the fixings, I could barely fit the whole sandwich in my mouth. Fortunately, I was able to finish it all without resorting to embarrassing myself with a knife and fork. Came with a bunch of fries and pickle for $10...not a bad deal at all. It was real quiet around 6PM but the noise level steadily rose as the night wore on and the football game began. Although it got busy real quickly, our waitress kept checking in on us to make sure everything was okay and was real friendly to our table. I've only been here twice - first time on a Saturday night for drinks and food with friends and the second time yesterday for the 10 cent wing night. To get the 10 cent wings, you have to order a pitcher of beer. You are also limited to 30 wings per round. The wings are nothing special, but good enough since I'm only paying 10 cents for one. We also ordered the calamari and fries which were both delicious. The reason why I'm giving it only a 3-star is because the service here is really horrible. Our waitress messed up our order, and we were not rude to her when we brought it up, but after we did, she did not come by our table for the entire duration of our meal until my boyfriend had to call her over. She walked past our table at least 10-12 times to check on other tables, but never stopped at ours to see how we were doing. This is completely unacceptable. It's not like we were the ones who messed up our orders so I don't know why she was being so rude to us. We usually go to phebe for wings on Wednesdays. The appetizers are the best and I would recommend the nacho and tarter tots before the wing special starts at 8. The wings are a miss at times. Sometimes it come out cold but most of the time its hot and juicy. The beer selection is not big but enough to satisfy everyone's taste buds. Stopped in here last night for a beer and a quick bite, was just roaming around and couldn't say no to some bar food. I got a Magic Hat and the Fish and Chips, which was tasty. Not the best I've ever had, but being an all-fried meal, it's pretty hard to go wrong. The waitress was extremely flustered for no reason, I wanted to tell her to take a chill pill. Saw this spot on Yelp so I decided to drag the hubby with me after seeing that they have a Wednesday special - 10 cent Wings after 8pm with the purchase of a pitcher of beer... I'm a whiskey girl but I'll change for some wings!... The wings were good, they came in Hot, Mild, and BBQ, so we did 30 wings - two hot and one BBQ with some seasonal Sam Adams. I don't drink beer all the time but Sam was tasting pretty good! The hostess that seated us was nice and gave us a good table, and our waitress after she realized she accidently overlooked us was on her game - she was really nice, informative and attentive to our needs. Granted we waited about 10 -15 minutes before she waited on us but the place was busy and it was evident it was a simple oversight given all the tables that were going and coming in... So, good food, good beer, great service, yet 2 Stars... Well the thing that really changed my opinion about this place was the security guard posted towards the front of the bar. SOOOO my husband and I entered Phebe's and as soon as we get in we're asked for our ID so I brush it off like okay its a bar they do that stuff... but while I'm digging in my wallet for my ID I see a couple just walk-in from behind us and go about they're business. Then when I finally find my ID, two guys just walk in past us without being checked at all... Then while we're seated I noticed the security guy is no longer by the door and when we're getting ready to leave we saw him start moving back towards the door and stays there until we leave... That right there left an extremely bad taste in my mouth no matter the positives - I don't like places that seem to go the extra mile to make me feel uncomfortable or different and their security right there took the cake... I don't know where he did his training but last time I checked at the very least you're supposed to make a paying customer feel welcomed!!! So this place was kind of awesome maybe 2 years ago during the world cup simply because no one went there and they were playing the matches. I thought: "GEE! THIS IS REAL SWELL! Phebes is a pretty solid Irish bar. It's spacious with a lot of seating. They have a full bar and a good selection of food in their menu--all of which are fairly priced and affordable. It's a great place to drink especially on Mondays and Wednesday because of their 10-cent wings special. Place has a nice ambiance: sports bar but not divey, decently nice place playing music and such which was a pleasant surprise given what the deal sounded like. When Your house beer is barely dark, completely watered down, and a waitress can't add a salad dressing to a salad, or bring a condiment to a burger, and slams the dishes- you know nyc has lost its standards. There wasn't a large beer selection, but the cross section to select from was really pretty decent. The food was definitely not your pub fare type menu. I had the salmon burger bacon. This place doesn't deserve a 1 star rating! It literally deserves a a big fat 0. Lets start with the waitress my friends and I had: Kayla! Why did my friends and I have to track her down multiple times when we were in the back of the restaurant near where they put in the food orders in the system and she was standing right there while my friend was calling her. Completely ignoring us. We order the Nachos which I do not ever recommend we could not taste the cheese nor was the cheese on top of the meat. She was telling us "Oh its underneath the meat" but there was barely any cheese. So we wanted it on top to be melted like you know if you were going to go an actually Mexican restaurant and order nachos or a freaking chipotle and they put cheese not just on the bottom but also on the top! Seems as she went to get her manager, who wasn't any nicer at all or understanding that we wanted some cheese on top of the nachos. He seemed annoyed that it had to be remade. We got the Nachos back remade and it still had cheese on the bottom so we ate some of it because we agreed "Well they added more cheese so we will just take it" Mean while some blonde girl with a green crop top came and ask if everything was okay but then she was looking at us like we didn't belong there, I don't want to make this race based but thats what the vibes were giving. Then after the blonde girl checks on us we never hear from Kayla in a long while. We are waiting for her to come back so we can ask for the check. Behind us is a group of people and my friend is trying to get her attention but she is busy seating people down who belong to the group so we wait till she is in our direction. She literally sits down next a lady who is apart of that group and she sits there and talks to her while my friend is calling for her attention so we can pay and leave. She finally hands us the bill and she walks away again. We decide to split the bill and then my other friend gets up to get her so we can split. She seemed annoyed multiple times and keeps walking away to go chit chat. Clearly we did not tip her because the service was horrible including the manager. read more

A friend and I went to see a play at the New York Theater Workshop (Okay, it was Othello with Daniel (freakin' James Bond) Craig, David Oyelowo, Dandy from AHS and more!). The play was awesome, but even more awesome was the meal we had before the show. While schmying around East Village and visiting hipster places like Enchantments and the dog park (neither of us owns a dog), we had worked up an appetite. The play wasn't going to begin for a few hours, but we had to pick up our tickets a mere two hours before the show. Enter Phebe's! This was a cool little bar that we hung out in before the show. We had a very tasty Pilsner- because I had recently visited the Czech Republic and had a hankering for the beer I tried there. The menu had a lot to offer two hungry NYC tourists- truly something for everyone. I got the Phebe's Blackjack Burger, which was out of this world. I don't love burgers, but I do crave one every once in a while and this burger sounded great. It was delicious- I would order a burger more often if they were all as terrific as this one. The sauce was pure perfection. I also got to order a side of salad instead of carby fries, which made this a great option for a dinner before a show. My friend got the bacon mac and cheese, which was also yummy. Our server was delightful and made sure we had everything we needed. When in the East Village, which unfortunately isn't very often, I plan to make Phebe's my go-to stop for a delicious meal. read more

When I walked in, I was transported back to my college days in Boston... except a pub that looks like this in Boston is likely to actually have good quality food. Not so at Phebe's. While the waitress was nice enough (it was her first night and she appeared to have been dropped off a plane from Minnesota... give her a few weeks...), the food was crap. And expensive. Do not under any circumstances believe that the mac and cheese is "homemade" unless if "homemade" means opening a box of velveeta mac and cheese and throwing a handful of shredded cheese from a bag and some anemic chopped tomatoes on top. ew. A word to Phebe's: On mac and cheese see Nolita House in SoHo, or Anam Cara in Boston for a few tips. What you are serving is crap. The boyfriend got the Shepard's pie. This review only applies for Wednesday nights after 9pm. That is the only time that I ever go to Phebe's. The reason being that they have a deal where for every pitcher of beer, you get (I believe) 40 wings for ten cents each. I just have never had the opportunity to visit Phebe's at any other time because this is the only time my friends ever want to go here. The wings here are delicious. It's hard to describe wings, but if you know wings, I would say these wings are better than Croxley's, Hooters, and most other bars as well. The wings are not small either so eating 10-20 will leave you stuffed. There is a good selection of beers that you can choose from as well. There are also an ample amount of televisions and seating. Fratastic is a great word to describe phebes. If you're looking to find a strangers who think overly high of themselves then this is the place for you. Drinks are standard prices and watered down so no need to worry about getting too drunk here. It's always packed to the brim, attractiveness of the crowd is a hit or miss. If you're a semi attractive girl be warned the guys here can get aggressive. Make sure to have a handy guy friend around. I've come here for the bar before but never had dinner. Last night I came with one of my friends and wanted just a bite to eat so I tried the French Onion Soup. It was amazing!! Okay I've been here plenty of times & there are 2 types Phebe's experiences: There's the pretty cool 1/2 priced drinks/appetizers, 25 cent buffalo wings Happy Hour nights & the awful 30+ crowd who are desperately trying to relive their college years. Let's begin with the bad. This place is awful & deserves a 1 star on late Friday & Saturday nights. Sure there's no cover but the DJ or music sucks and let's face it the drinks are not bad but no one wants to pay full price for them. Then the crowd is this typical desperate post college crowd are just trying too hard to get laid & so drunk that they're stumbling on to ppl nearby, etc ,etc The good time to really enjoy the drinks & food at Phebe's is during the week for the great happy hour specials. The drinks are half off so you get your fave beer & a fave shot for about $11 or go crazy with $5 magaritas. And all appetizers are half off which usually = $5 each. I prob speak for myself here but appetizers are usually more than enough for me so I easily get a full stomach & nice buzz for $20. During the happy hour time, yes it's a bit packed esp on wings night ( order a pitcher of beer & get 25 cent wings of your choice) but if you come a bit early you can grab a table & have some good drinks & food with friends. Btw, the music is not too loud on these nights either so you can actually hold conversations. And Thursday night is best if you do not like crowds. read more

Phebe's is my favorite spot for happy hour; especially in the spring. Back in the days, I used to come here almost every other week on wing night with my girlfriends and order a pitcher and get 10c buffalo wings. Yum! I went on a 2 year hiatus and finally returned again last night. My friends and I pretty much ordered almost every appetizer on the menu: 1. Spinach & Artichoke Dip - they make the best dip; however, I was sad to see the portion downsize compared to 2 years ago. Now, it also comes with slices of pita bread. They also used to top the nacho chips with melted cheese and sour cream...where did all that goodness go? 2. Bacon Tempura - is this something new to the menu? I couldn't remember but it was scrumptious. The bacon was crispy and juicy. You can never go wrong with anything that has bacon in it. Bacon!! 3. Buffalo Wings - ah, my old time favorite but their wings look like they have gotten smaller. If you don't like really spicy, medium spice is good enough to add a little kick to it. 4. Mac n Cheese - um, can I say this dish is food for the gods? I went to cloud 9 when I got my first bite into this. Or maybe I haven't had mac n cheese in a really long time. ... 5. Phebe's Appetizer Sampler - we made a mistake for ordering this towards the end of the night just because there were so much food on this platter. There's calamari, mozzerella sticks, potato skins, bbq wings, and chicken tenders. I loved every single one of them except for the mozzerella sticks....was never a fan of it anyway. Half-priced appetizers.$4 pints, Wednesday nights are wing nights at 25 cent per wing, well worth the extra money over Croxley Ales. Also no need to travel as far East either. For some strange reason there are an awful amount of Asians on Wednesday nights for the Wings. I'm not sure what the correlation is, I don't mind since I am Asian after all.
