Phillips has a great selection of fine autos. I bought a 2007 911S from them. Before I took delivery I complained about the slow starter turnover and they ignored me. I had to get the battery replaced. About 10 miles from my buying it the TPMS light came on. I called them and they said they had been replaced. I took the car to my local tire shop where I was told all four sensors were original! $600 to fix and no help from Phillips. I was toiling with buying a cabriolet six speed vs the S with tiptronic. They told me the S is a great choice. A year later I decided to sell and talked to a Phillips about a buy back. I was told the tiptronic is not desirable! Huh? I'd give them some leeway but if you buy get the car get it checked out before you buy. I don't think I'd buy another car from them. read more

We bought a car from this place, but it's been a disappointment. The tires, supposedly new, started causing problems within a month. Even after replacing one, the issues persisted. Just last week, a piece of one of these "new" tires came off, putting my father in a dangerous situation on the freeway. This car has only been driven 9,000 miles since we got it. These tires can't be new--they're falling apart. Thankfully, we're okay, but Philips won't take responsibility and cover the cost of new tires. I had a great experience purchasing a car from Phillips Auto. I inquired about the car on Carfax and received a quick response from Olivia. From that point on, it was all Jerry. During my slow car-buying process, which included a couple of visits to the dealership to tiptoe around the car for at least an hour each time, Jerry didn't push or pressure me in any way. He seemed to understand that people process things differently, and this was my way. Sure, at times, I did push on the price, but that's what you have to do. When I decided to move forward, I called Jerry to let him know, and I was able to start the process over the phone and email to cover as much as possible to avoid spending hours in a chair at the dealership. I've left rave reviews for a Jeep/Ram dealership a state away I go out of my way, with extra expense, to only deal with when I get a new Jeep or Ram every year or two because there is such a top notch, amazing owner and team there. Then, I forget...when looking at other new and used dealerships how mediocre is now the norm for so many of them. Good grief. Especially when the economy for cars is good. I have a car collection of new and classics. I'm often swapping vehicles in and out. When I call about a vehicle at a dealership, it's likely not the only vehicle I have interest in at that dealership. Now, enter Phillips Auto. Recently found them online. WOW, love so many cars in here I may have interest in buying. How have I missed this place being a So Cal resident? I email about a vehicle on a Sunday, not expecting to hear back until the next day as they are closed. OH, great...they responded by email. Now, I'm thinking it must have been a spam bot for them. I mention which vehicle I'm asking about, leave my email. Next day, I email again and I also text my info and questions. A few emails back and forward asking me for my number and if I have WhatsApp even though I've already supplied this info to them by email...all good, maybe my replies are going to their spam file. So, I share the info again. I'm emailed that someone will be calling me soon. I hear nothing. I then call, a guy answers. Nice enough, says he's busy with other customers at the moment. I get it, must be a one person operation going on. That's ok. I love doing business with "mom and pop" style places, prefer it actually. Refer back to the Jeep dealership I Yelp/always rave about, send people to from various states to buy from them and I buy from them every year or two. Anyway, he says he will call me back. Great as I'm planning out the next day in which I'll be driving in from about 2 hours away and am going to get to this dealership first thing in the morning to see the initial car I asked about. OH, this is where I need to add he gave me the, "You better act fast if you want this car as we are getting a ton of requests about it." No need to hard sell me. I ordered this same F-Type to the same specs new in 14. I sold it after a year. Thought it might be fun to have one like it back in the collection as a cars and coffee day vehicle. Plus, I wanted to see the orange C8 Vette they have and a 991 Porsche there as well. Well, here it is hours later and no one ever got back to me. Maybe they are thinking they just have so many people for this F-Type that why bother getting back to me regarding my questions about it. Who knows. It's now about 9 pm and instead of heading to this place first thing in the morning, I'll be going into L.A. to spend some money elsewhere replenishing fun cars I recently sold. If this is the service you get before you spend your money at Phillips Auto, I can only imagine what it's like if you have any follow up needs, questions or concerns once they have your cash. Such a shame as I was so excited to go see this place being the car collecting, buying, selling, trading person that I worked myself up to the level of being able to do so at this point in my life. I happen to go to Wells Fargo with him to pickup the check and everyone in the branch knew him (staff and, surprisingly, customers). Nice to know the guy you are doing business with gets along elsewhere in the community. Tried to sell him a couple cars in the past month or so and but couldn't come together on price this time.
