    CITRUS PANCAKES

Came here after a team outing nearby to grab some brunch. I haven't been here yet and was excited to finally put a check next to this spot on my list. The space was inviting with lots of seating as expected since it's such a popular establishment. The server was fast and friendly and open to offering us suggestions. I ordered a seasonal cocktail which was ok. I also ordered the citrus pancakes which were pretty yummy. I ordered grits as well but they were forgotten so I just said never mind on those as I tried someone else's and wasn't a huge fan. The food was solid but did not blow me away. I would come here again if asked but wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Initially came on Sunday for brunch and the wait was only 15 minutes. After we got seated I got the crab cake Benedict ($22) and that came out in about 20 minutes. The eggs were cooked perfectly and that hollandaise sauce was amazing! It had just the right amount of citrus to cream ratio. Crabs cakes were solid, not the best but still good! Staff/service was a bit slow at times, may have been understaffed. Overall I had a good time here! Food(50%): 8.0 Staff/service(25%): 6.0 Value(25%): 7.0 Overall: 7.3/10

    SPINACH FETA OMELETTE with Bacon

My family and I went to Citrus for brunch. There was a 10 minute wait to be seated, and the restaurant texts you when they're ready to seat you. The restaurant is spacious and even with a party seated next to us, we weren't crowded and could have a conversation. Once seated, our friendly server took our drink order and gave us plenty of time to decide on our meal choices. I ordered the Spinach and Feta omelette with egg whites and added bacon, with Rosemary Parmesan Home Fries and wheat toast. My son ordered the Spanish omelette with grits and a biscuit. My husband ordered The Beckner with home fries. The food was excellent! The vegetables in the omelettes were fresh, the potatoes were nicely seasoned and not overdone, the breads were nicely toasted and crisp, and the biscuit was perfectly crumbly. Service was friendly and attentive and taking care of the check was easy with the ability to tap to pay. One of the best local restaurants in Va Beach!

We went on a Saturday morning after sporting event and quickly were able to put our name down and was seating within 10 minutes. All our food turned out amazing and was more than enough for our family of five. The staff was very friendly and were greeted and sent off with a smile by the workers. Highly recommend!

Atmosphere is amazing! Worth every penny. Ask for signature Bloody Mary and the she crab soup is to die for! Service is very attentive and wholesome. Fantastic! Guess we got "unofficially cut off" after two Bloody Mary drinks. We have a designated driver of course. Still... Good to know if you come here... All in all, Thank you very much

It was okay, just okay. The food is so so basic, nothing spectacular at all. Service takes a LONG time. The restaurant itself isn't that clean or organized.

Stopped by on a Sunday morning, and even though the place was buzzing with energy, we were seated right away, always a great start! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, though not the most recent décor the place is nice and clean. The menu has all the brunch classics you could want--fluffy pancakes, hearty omelets, rich eggs Benedict, and, of course, an impressive selection of mimosas and other brunch cocktails. I decided on the citrus pancakes, and they were absolutely delicious. The sauce was bursting with flavor, and the combination of pineapple and banana worked perfectly. The portion was so generous I couldn't even finish my plate (which says a lot!). I paired it with a classic mimosa, and it was just right, refreshing, crisp, and the perfect brunch companion. Beyond the food, the service was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. It's always nice to be in a place where you feel genuinely taken care of. Another plus- the kids' menu had great options, making it a fantastic spot for families as well. Overall, this place checks all the boxes for a great brunch experience: delicious food, great drinks, welcoming atmosphere, and top-notch service. Can't wait to come back and try more from the menu!

Great food and great service! Wonderful way to start the day with great food, great service, and a wonderful atmosphere. After being seated, we were seen too quickly for drink orders. After that, ordering was quick and easy. The menu gave great breakfast options and everything was prepared well. As a plus for our kids, the food looked just like all the pictures we looked up on Yelp so presentation was on point. All in all, a wonderful eating experience that I would whole heartedly recommend to anyone.

Our waitress was great! Super patient! ND accommodating! Offer some suggestions/options and helped us navigate all the good eats! Lol A nice open and welcoming atmosphere accompanied by good more cocktail and coffee options... With quick serve, you are sure altogether walk out with a desire to return!!!

We came to citrus on a Tuesday afternoon No wait and the food is outstanding! The grapefruit mimosa is the best I've tried in the area. The service is great, too! Prices really aren't bad especially compared to places like ihop now, you get better tasting food for about the same price. Excellent breakfast

We were seated quickly a large booth for just the two of us. I had a large latte with a cute design and a regular coffee that came with what seemed like unlimited refills! Ordered chicken and waffles that was a large piece of chicken breast. The waffle had a good flavor crispsy on outside and soft on the inside. that came with 2 any style eggs and a side of crispy parmesean rosemary tater tots. Also ordered eggs Benedict which were perfectly cooked. Our server was very sweet and checked on us the perfect amount.

The Citrus is one of the breakfast places in the area that are open early (6 am for N Great Neck and 7 am for W Great Neck). It's perfect for us when we want to skip our usual breakfast routines (aka breakfast chains or eating at home). The best part is that they serve Eggs Benedict. Food: * The Citrus Reuben is delicious, and the portion is just right for breakfast/brunch. * Lump Crab Benedict has a good amount of crab on the patty, plus how can I say no to "on the house" onions and peppers to top the hashbrowns? I just wish that the patty and the hash brown is crispier and not too soggy. Ambiance: This restaurant is bright and welcoming. Price: With suitable serving sizes, their food is affordable. Service: Maybe we came in too early during the day, and our server was barely present, but she was accommodating. If you want an early breakfast, you should put Citrus on your list.

This is my third time dining here, and every time is just as satisfying. I love their food selection and menu, it's always delicious and the service is great. Our server was so attentive to even small details. It's a quiet breakfast place for friends gathering and doing our ladies group.

They apologized. We were waiting to receive a steak knife to cut our fried chicken they forgot to bring that. Our server was very informative when asked about the restaurant concept and menu. She and the person she was training were very friendly. Food: we applaud the concept and the risk to infuse various cultures into the menu. Portion size for a $5 side of home fries was disappointing we are thinking it was maybe a half of a potato. The menu is diverse and the price point isn't bad. Ambiance: ok, we sat outside. We liked the diversity of customers coming in. Unfortunately this is a one and done for us and not because we are visiting just because we are food critics and know what we like.

I was also a fan of her raspy voice. Whoever did their website did a great job...at deceiving the public. The pictures look much better than how the food tasted. Maybe I should've ordered differently? I ended up getting the veggie omelet (without peppers and tomatoes). One plus was that they didn't pre-butter the toast. I liked that. Most places put gobs of butter on, that I end up wiping off with a napkin. This is also one of the few places that sell creamed chip beef (which isn't my jam but might be yours)!

I already knew this was my destination as I had been following them since they opened in VB. Upon our arrival we found the Cafe about a 1/4th of the way full so I had hopes for breakfast in a quiet setting. Even though there was a steady flow of traffic, we were able to dine in a relaxed setting without feeling rushed. I mention this because with it being a holiday weekend full of Jeepers, I fully expected them to be packed. The wait to order was too long as it left me staring at the pastry window so long I almost ordered one of everything however; I refrained from doing so but still bought 4 pastries, French toast & seasoned potatoes. Yes yes, alot of food for 1 person but I still had 2 days left in my visit and well, I have a thing for pastries. The pastries were: mango & passion fruit eclair, a pineapple muffin, lemon raspberry cake & profiteroles. I loved everything with the exception of the eclair. It wasn't anything against the eclair, it's just the mango/passionfruit mixture was just too passionate for my tastes. The muffin reminded me of my own homemade upside pineapple cake without all the brown sugar. It was light and buttery. The Lemon raspberry slice was delightful & not the least bit tart or too sweet. A mixture of both flavors without either one overpowering the other. The cake was super moist, perfect. The profiteroles were my favorite. They reminded me of that feeling I had the 1st time I tasted them while living in Italy. The choux perfectly baked and so delightfully light. The French toast was good enough without the side of syrup. The star for me of the breakfast items were the potatoes. I LOVED them. They were served HOT, seasoned just right with their insides softer that a baby bottom. I coulda just ordered 2 servings of those & bypassed the toast. All in all, well worth the wait. Besides the drink mentioned above, some of our favorites included the cajun shrimp & crawfish omelette, the apple crunch French toast, and the shrimp and grits. We had two mishaps. The Hendricks Hurricane drink was not mixed appropriately; there were clumps of coconut floating around in it giving the appearance of spoiled milk, and it also did not taste good, so we had to return it. Our first table ended up being under a spotlight that was directly in our line of sight (it looked like it was meant for the specials board), so we asked to move. Staff was accommodating and got us to a better table quickly. The space itself is really nice. It was clean, rustically decorated, and the live plants in liquor bottles on the tables are a nice touch. Our server was friendly from the start and took drink orders right away. My daughter and I had sodas, and my husband ordered the Southern Charm Old Fashioned off the specials menu, which he enjoyed. The menu is on the smaller side, which we actually like. One unique detail was the option to "buy a round for the kitchen," which we thought was a really nice touch and decided to add it when we ordered our appetizer. We started with the fried deviled eggs after a friend recommended them. They were creative with three styles (classic with pickle, togarashi ginger, and crispy prosciutto), but overall a bit on the dry side and not as flavorful as we expected. We asked for Dijon, but they don't have it. Our server suggested and brought out the Baja dipping sauce instead, which did pair well and kind of improved them. My husband had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. He said the fish was flaky and well cooked. I ordered the Union grilled cheese, which unfortunately seemed like it had been sitting a bit before being served, as the bottom was soggy. It was just okay overall and not particularly memorable for the price. The sweet potato fries on the side were the clear standout. They were crispy, the perfect balance of sweet and salty and honestly the best part of the dish. Our daughter had the kid's smashburger. It was exactly that. Service throughout the meal was good. She was friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and there when needed. The main disappointment came at the end. When our meals were served, the server actually offered sauces at the table (ketchup, mayo, ranch, etc.), and specifically suggested items like the baja sauce for the eggs and ranch to us. Because of that, we were surprised to see several charges for the sauces on the bill, especially since they were offered and recommended at the table with no mention of any additional cost. We were also charged a credit card fee, with no signage anywhere (entrance, hostess stand, or menu) indicating that paying with a card would include an extra charge. It just left an unnecessary sour note on an otherwise solid, casual meal. Nothing was bad, and nothing really stood out as exceptional, but the lack of transparency around those final charges really impacted the overall experience for us.
