Not the worse Philly cheesesteak, but certainly not the best either. In fact, I'd recommend hitting up Westshore or Jersey Mike's. Their sandwiches are not only bigger, but they're loaded with meat that's heavily coated in cheese. Philly Phlava advertises those Amoroso rolls, but personally, I think they suck. Good menu items but it depends on which location you visit. The way the food is put together at this location could be better. It's very inconsistent. My husband loves the Philly with fries. Sometimes the fries are good and sometimes they aren't. The employees don't seem to care much about their job. If the food was more consistent I may have given more stars. Wings are pretty darn cheap! 24 wings go for 16.95. But I split flavors so I had to pay for 12/12 which was 21.29 total, which was still good. The buffalo was great but the garlic Parmesan could've used more garlic powder but all in all it was a great deal. I recommend having the ranch dip with the wings! read more

Called to place an order, and all they said was "hold on". I waited about 5 minutes, then started driving to the store. When I got there, they'd had me on hold for 14 minutes and never picked up. Went in, one woman ahead of me, and the guy and girl behind the counter were laughing, both saying they didn't know how to use the cash register and IGNORING the woman who'd been patiently waiting! OMG!! No other workers were visible. I asked the woman how long she'd been waiting, and she told me about 4 minutes and they hadn't even acknowledged her. I turned around and walked out. I feel very bad for the owner, and if they worked for me, I'd fire them on the spot. PITIFUL... We've been to Philly Phlava Carrollwood before - a few times. I'd rate the cheese steaks 3 to 3.5 on a 5-point scale. Not memorable, but Tampa lacks a REAL cheese steak presence. Pinellas has 3 or 4 really good places. This is a house of sin. It is food porn with the 80's daw-wah-wah music. We got phillys that are the real damn deal, with Hank's Creme Soda that will leave you completely satisfied. Don't tell the staff how good their food is. They really don't care, and they'll make it obvious. Just buy it, eat, tell everyone else. They also have this sign that says if you attend the Bolts/Bucs/Bulls/Rays game and bring your ticket stub within 7 days, they'll give you a buy one get another half off. I am a Philly native and have eaten and many cheesesteaks places in my life. I think I have tried most all of the best ones in Philly area. Here is my rating of this one in Fla.- Rolls- claim they are Amoroso, but Amaroso are just okay in Philly. They aren't great. If you get them fresh the same day they are baked then they are fairly good, but not here in Fla or anywhere that claims to use them in Fla. The meat is mediocre here. It is well chopped and tastes okay but nothing special. Good Cheesesteak shops actually cut the meat every day on a slicer and use very good meat. This isn't it. This is typical frozen meat. Overall I would rate the place mediocre with one caveat. It looks filthy all the time. I wouldn't be surprised if they got inspected and found rodents but haven't seen any when going there. Just know it looks gross when you really look closely around the place. read more

After surfing through YELP I decided on something easy and not far from my home. Philly Phlava Cheese Steaks was that special spot for this evening. I selected the onion rings - $ 3.75 - BTW there were plenty more of these beauties. But, nothing like driving home and having to have a look at them. Before I even placed the key in the ignition​. Just did not open the special sauce that came with them. Felt so tempted​ that I placed one in my mouth...Nothing like the whole onion dipped in just the right batter​. Just right not sweet but like a corndog breading. Finally, I found the onion ring that fit my fancy. I also ordered the Cheesesteak sandwich​ with onions, mushrooms and black olives. With cheese wiz --which was at the bottom of the role. Now with the cheesesteak,​ you could choose either steak or chicken. You were also given a selection of cheeses. Along, with a variety of vegetables. To​ me,​ the sandwich was very good along with a thumbs up for the onion rings. read more

Just ordered from this place for the first time ever. I was looking for delivery that didn't require an absurd delivery minimum or charge an absurd delivery charge (that wasn't pizza), and this place is the only one I could find that fit the bill. I'm so glad I chose to order. I got a breakfast burrito and chili cheese fries (it's my diet cheat day, don't judge me). The burrito is waaaay larger than I expected for the price, and the fries came in their own to-go box. For the value I paid (especially had I saved myself tip + delivery charge by going to the store for pick-up), it was way more than I had ever expected, and everything is really hot and delicious. The only thing that could have made it 5 stars was a quicker delivery; took about an hour from the time I placed the order to when it arrived, but it's definitely not something that I can complain much about - they state a 35-55 minute delivery time, so it's not like I expected it to be here in 15 minutes. And, based on the quality of the food and the fact that it was all still warm upon delivery, it was worth the wait. I will DEFINITELY order again! read more

I'm a sucker for mounds of steak, cheese, and onions piled on to a hoagie. This place is located in a strip mall. We went Sunday morning as they were opening so we were the only ones there. It was HOT inside. Staff was friendly and made a couple suggestions. Food came out quickly and was fantastic. We will be making more trips here. read more

I have been here once or twice over the course of the past couple years, usually when I'm driving by and need to get a bite to eat. This was the first time I made a trip to come over here specifically. The staff seemed exceptionally friendly, in that local eatery where they know everybody kinda way, I placed an order for a chicken cheese steak and some onion rings and sat down at the window seats to watch the tv till it was ready. The food came out pretty quick, I thanked the gentleman and head home to devour it. I took down some of the onion rings on the way home. They were really good and tasted really fresh. The cheesesteak was quite good, but could use some more cheese, maybe thats just cause I'm a cheese fanatic, but I do remember there was an option for ordering double cheese, which I will have to remember for next time. read more

I tried this place twice, and was not impressed. Regardless of the size of the sandwich, I still had no meat and bread left over at the end of the sandwich. Probbbbbably the furthest thing from Philly... We ordered two Philly cheesesteaks, one with peppers and onions, one plain with NO peppers or onions. We also ordered their cheesesteak sliders. When the order was delivered, the plain cheesesteak was drowning in onions. Also the cheesesteak sliders are NOT sliders at all, they are like cheesesteak corn dogs. Cheesesteak rolls? I'm not sure how you'd label them on the menu, but they are NOT sliders. When we called about the order, the lady on the line gave us attitude. No apology, and she refused to refund the sliders because it wasn't what we wanted. We tried explaining to her what a slider is (seriously just google it) and she said she didn't know what a slider was, but we got what we ordered and she wouldn't refund it. She offered to remake or refund our incorrect cheesesteak. When we asked for a manager (hopefully someone with less of an attitude problem?) we were told there were no managers there that day. She had to hang up, call her boss to authorize a refund on an item that was less than $6, and then call us back after he gave the OK. Absolutely unacceptably poor customer service, incorrect orders, and a menu with no descriptions of things. Sad because we've ordered from them plenty of times in the past but thanks to this woman on the phone, they've lost our business forever. read more

Hands down best hoagie I've ever had. The menu is so long , you have soooo much to choose from. They were super friendly and helpful, got our food super fast and it was delicious. The hoagie was huge, I didn't even finish the whole thing because I got full, but it was such a big portion and it was super affordable. Plus they deliver! I ordered an Italian sub but wanted it toasted. The bread was nasty and you couldn't tell if it was toasted or not. Sure they give you a lot of meat but it was sloppy and not well cut up. This sounds like quantity over quality. The owner Ben represents Philly teams like the Flyers and Phillies with all of that memorabilia but doesn't follow them. That's kinda oxymoronic. He's got hundreds of dollars in team stuff but doesn't know what's going on. Haha haha haha! You can get a better sub at Publix especially when he's(Ben) not cheaper than they are! Amazing as always. They ran out of flour tortillas so I had to use a wheat tortilla for my philly phryer BUT it was better than the flour which shocked me! Service was great and location was clean. I would recommend the buffalo chicken fries for sure! Staff is very nice and even offered to bring my food to my car while they were busy!

"Amoroso" rolls that can be found at every pizza place on Dale Mabry, every meat you receive is frozen and bought in bulk, EVERY ingredient is sub par (just ask to see the brands), cleanliness isn't a focus. You would think with everything wrong it would at least be affordable. Go anywhere else and you'll have a much better experience. read more

This was my second trip to this little slice of Philly in Carrollwood. They did not disappoint. For me there are several factors in a good cheesesteak: perfect (amarosssa) bread, moist beef, nicely melted cheese and a nice steamy presentation. This was a home run on all of those points. For me it was even better as they have Herrs chips and birch beer on the fountain. I held back from using my typical Philly order of "provalone without", but I bet they would have handles that just fine. I am sure I will be back soon for another experience like the one I had today. They had courteous and fast service and reasonable prices. They have Detz and Watson deli meats and they are also open for breakfast. I neglected to take a photo of the fabulous cheese steak, my motivation to eat it took over for my dedication as a Yelper. It's true that it's not like eating a steak right there at Pats or Geno's in South Philly, but for Tampa Bay, I only know of one other place in the Clearwater area that might be better, but that will have to be another review. read more

I called at 12:20 which made it over an hour since I had placed it and they told me another 15-20, also whoever answered the phone seemed annoyed that I was checking on my order. I would give this place zero stars if I could! My father ordered a fountain drink for the both of us. The cups we received were new and clean. Looking at the options for drinks wasn't much. Wanting to try something new, he tasted some sort of fizzy beer drink and guess what? There were ants IN his cup! Not one ant, there were at least five in his cup after getting that soda from the fountain! After, he warned the owner about the ants, but the owner barely did a thing. No "Out Of Order" sign, nothing! My father told other customers to not get any soda from the fountain, but a woman employee wanted to get an attitude and argue with him after telling others about the ants, instead of being apologizing about the situation and wanting to fix it. Ants love sugar, and of course if you clean/check the soda fountain or nozzles everyday (like you should), there would be no ants there! This was the most disgusting thing I've seen in my life. It may cost more to grab a bottled drink, but it will save you from drinking ants! read more

I am super picky about cheesesteaks. I can't stand the meat having too many fatty or gristly bits and the cheesesteaks here are always excellent! I have never dined in, as the restaurant is a little small and not super inviting, but I've always received hot, delicious food for takeout. I love the option to add onions, peppers and even sautéed mushrooms to the subs. Haven't tried much other than the cheesesteaks but when you are hungry for a great cheesesteak, nothing else will do. read more

Called for delivery recently and the person the answered was very rude and not helpful whatsoever. I order over 30 dollars of food and expected so much more. That said the food was decent. I had the philly cheese steak and it was good. The cheese fries was very disappointed with the actually quality. The most disappointing thing however was the calamari. I would recommend no one ever get the calamari. Not only not worth the money but tasted terribly bland. Might order again but only if there's no other delivery options aside from pizza. read more
