Super friendly staff. Enjoyed my Philly's best cheesesteaks and got them fast. Always dependable place for delicious, fast steak sandwiches!

I've been wanting to come here for a long time, because I crave a good Philly's steak cheese sandwich. Well today, I finally went. I read the Yelp reviews, which were "UP IN THE AIR WITH GOOD AND BAD REVIEWS " I went in, there were 2 guys working..I was really up beat, said, MAKE ME PROUD, Its my 1st time here and there have been mixed reviews here. The one young kid took my order, just smiled (didnt care) I paid 10.01,for a philly's best. I told the older guy, who cooked it, please make sure it's really toasted. He said I am. The kid who took my order sat down and was on his cell and chowing down! I tried to make pleasant conversation and he was not interested! Both were unfriendly! I got home, the sandwich was plain tasting at one bite! Nothing great! For 10.00 bucks?? I put mayonnaise on the buns, put lots of cheddar cheese on it and roasted again in oven till cheese melted gooey and bun was toasted right! Now it tasted good!!! I'm not coming back here again! Damn, I can make a hell of a lot better steak sandwich CHEAPER TOO than this place!!! read more

Came here with my mom had seen this place on Isra and wow had the philly cheese steak it's beyond good there steak fries and delicious did not disappoint!!! Definitely recommend if your in the area or just for a lunch date super low key out side cute seating can't wait to go back!!!! read more

I've now been plenty of times. The first time I got the American Hoagie and took a bite it was like being transported right back to my childhood in Pennsylvania. They got the flavor right on that - although I skip the chili sauce and only have them use light vinegar and oil. It's great, it's all I ever get. The complimentary pickles at the pickle bar - half sours and full sours - are a nice touch. Somehow Tasty Kakes don't taste the same, alas. I don't need them anyway. read more

I understand that this is during the COVID time but some thing do not change. And that one thing is Philly's Best customers service. The last time I went to Philly's Best was about 8years ago. I would go two to three time a week. And then some thing change and they wanted me to pay extra for BBQ sauce. I wanted a normal plain cheese stake no cheese with BBQ sauce. They told me I had to pay extra. I asked well do I get a discount for no Cheese. Nope they said. I walked out called corporate and have not been back. Well today was my brothers bday. He has been on a diet lost 50lb and he really wanted Philly's Best. I asked if I could substitute the cheese for BBQ sauce and still the same answer. I paid for my brother meal. And I sat out side with nothing while he ate. I did not make a fuss with the cashier she was just doing here job. I called corporate and share my store to a nice lady how want hang up the phone and investigate the issue more then she wanted to talk to me. Here is my issue. Now I'm going back to COVID, it the time to put your best show forward. And that should be customer service. In this case I was removing cheese and what to add BBQ. I was not asking for anything that would cause them extra. And I was not asking for a discount on not having cheese. The amount of BBQ sauce coast to them is what $0.05 to put on my philly stake. No the coast not to but it on still a customer that will not go back and will tell his story 100 time to his friends in hopes they will not support the company. PS I hop you investigation into this matter goes great and come to a conclusion that you don't care for your customers and things need to change. read more

I just tried their philly pepper cheesesteak and it was pretty good. My only complain was that the meat itself was kind of flavorless. The peppers were great (sweet flavored) and the cheese was good. I'm not a huge fan of cheese wiz and its competitors but it wasn't bad on this sandwich. Service was very fast and the cashier was friendly enough. Overall I would recommend this place, though I'll probably try the chicken next time and see if that has more flavor. read more

I really wanted this place to be good. Unfortunately, the sandwich was dry and bland. I won't spend my money here again.

Lived in Maryland for years. This may not be as good as being in Philly, but it is just as good as a Maryland Philly Cheesesteak. Which is good too. Now if I can just find some crabs in Cali there will be nothing about the east coast food that I will miss. Oh BTW, the onion rings had more bread than onions. Good spot though. read more

I love Philly's Best... without a doubt the absolute best cheese steak sandwiches. This location makes them well and normally has good service - in the store. However don't try calling to order at this location. There are way too many times I have called and line was busy only to get to the store to see the phone off the hook. I know they get busy, but they need to consider customer service first!!! read more

I want to start out by saying that I love Philly's Best and have now tried every location in my area. My experience at this location in Lake Forest was not good. On Tuesday, 2/27 at around 6:20-6:30 pm my son and I walked in and there were two guys behind the counter, typical. It was evening time, and could tell that the main guy did not want to be there. He didn't even say hi, just said with a straight face "Can I get your order?". Ok. We ordered our two sandwiches, and got our drinks and sat down. Oh, this one doesn't have the Pike's Iced Tea, was bummed about that. Anyways, we sat down to wait for our food. 2 other people in the restaurant, that's all. When he told us our food was ready, went and got it and noticed that mine was incorrect. Told him and he made the changes and eventually called me back up and I got my sandwich. Only 2 things I wanted different, and one of them was wrong. Ok, not a big deal, it happens. Go sit down and start eating. Instantly notice that there was a minuscule amount of steak on my Cheese Steak sandwich. There was 3 or 4 more times the amount of onions on the sandwich. Now, I started out this review by saying that I've eaten at all of the other locations in my area, and they are all about the same when it comes to service and portion size, quality, etc. Quick shout out to the guys at the Aliso Viejo location, "They Rock!!!" Always an Excellent sandwich every time and they are cool and funny. So, this sandwich in comparison was horrible. it tasted good, with what little meat I got on my sandwich. Had to pull off a ton of onions, which left me with this little, pathetic, want-to-be Cheese Steak. My son's sandwich didn't have as much as his usually has either, but it had a lot more than mine did. Now I was extremely disappointed and wondered do I say something or not. I chose not to, since I didn't want anything worse to happen to my sandwich, if you know what I mean. Not implying that they would do that here, but I just didn't want to chance it. So, needless to say, i was hungry soon afterwards and was not satisfied with this whole experience. Oh, and after he was done with what he was doing and waiting for the cook to finish up making the food, he would go over and sit at one of the tables with his laptop and a bunch of other stuff out and do whatever until the cook said the food was done. This whole experience from customer interaction, food prep, portion size, etc. was horrible and they can definitely learn from some of the other locations, especially Aliso Viejo. That's our favorite location and expect to only give them our business from now on. read more

Always a great sandwich, and quick service. While the standard steak is what most come for, I humbly suggest you try the chicken with Cheese Whiz for something different. The fries are not bad, but the onion rings are my favorite. read more

Genuine Philly cheesesteaks, with everything down to the bread imported from Philly. This is a small chain, but there's nothing to criticize about the concept nor the cheese oozing out of the sandwich. read more

Had philly's best for dinner today. we ordered a philly's best and a chicken bbq and cheese. the cashier was really easy going and friendly and the place was empty when we got there. the sandwiches were sooo good, very tasty and they don't skimp you on the goods. my philly best had tons of beef and cheese, and the peppers were really tasty. the chicken bbq and cheese was good too, but i was diggin the grilled veggies from the philly's best. place is clean, and there are two tv's in the small establishment. the location is right on lake forest, but the strip mall doesnt get too much business. would def go back to this location. read more

It has been a while since I have gone here but today I went with my brother that was in town from the start they had pretty bad service. After they took our order they waiting about 15 minutes to start cooking it up. They were talking super loud and cussing so we couldn't even talk without hearing them. After that the employee was using his hands with no gloves to touch the food it was very unappealing and defiantly did not want to eat the food. While we were the shop a dad and young son came in and they had to step out so the young kid didn't have to hear the employees cussing and using words like drugs and using the f word multiple times a sentence. we defiantly won't be coming back and I hope they employees are taken care of. read more

The only problem I have is deciding between the Philly cheesesteak and the Chicken and Cheese...loaded up with grilled onions and that oozy, gooey white cheese- my god, it's a little taste of heaven. I went to the Irvine location for years, but the Lake Forest location is better if for no other reason that they take credit cards. Great Place! read more

Nice surprise with some great taste! My wife was craving cheese steak and wanted to try this place for lunch. I thought she was nuts for even thinking we could find a good cheese steak in the area. We did a quick check on Yelp and it looked good to try so we came is and ordered the mushroom cheese steak and some loaded frys with cheese and beef. Really good and a nice surprise. Good food and very tasty. They are quick and cheese steaks are hot. The loss of one star is due to price and on occasion when they put multiple cheese steaks on the grill, combine them for cooking, then divide them unevenly. One day, I had tons of meat on my sandwich while the next day, I had half the meat. Location has good parking. read more

Well I have always loved the cheese steak here..went in the other day and left disappointed. 22-23 bucks for two Philly steaks and a drink. I never had a problem with the price when they made them the right way but now it's not worth it.. They used to put more on them.. Now they put about half the meat and cheese on them so it's a big bun with a skimpy amout of meat and cheese in the middle.. So not impressed..this was my spot for a good cheese steak would pick one up on the way to work once and awhile. If they are going to do the skimpy think they really don't have anything else going for them..hope you guys get it together.. If your going to charge about 10 bucks for a sandwich you need to make it a great sandwich. At this point subway is out doing you.. That's sad. read more

The sandwiches here are the best. They use the right bread and they make them east coast style. I recommend you come here.

Cooks do not wear gloves. Cross contamination happening for sure in front of your eyes with raw chicken and a raw beef. Wanna get sick? Come here! read more

A very average Philly cheesesteak that consistently lacks flavor. I usually have to add ketchup and/or old bay to make it taste like anything. It is what it is, this definitely isn't philly after all. read more

Glad this place is here. Only complaint is that way way way too much wiz was used on steak. Fell apart. Next time, I'll just mention it. Also a bit weird that pizza fries would have wiz and sauce. Not what I'd expect in my home town of Philly. read more

The service is fast, the staff is very friendly. But, i must admit, the meat tasted cheap.

We've been here plenty of times only because it's local. This location has never been as good as the original Irvine location. It's gotten worse over the years. The last few steaks I've had there were stringy, fatty and even a bit of gristle. The one time I tried a hoagie, they screwed it up and loaded it down with onion, which per the description on their website, should not have had onions. Tonight I tried a cheeseburger instead. The burger was okay... too bad whoever made it couldn't even slice a bun. It was sliced part way through, then torn the rest. Ketchup and mayo were oozing through the top of the bun. What a mess!! I really like the cheesesteaks here. Believe me I would much rather spend my 5 or so bucks on a sub with flavor unlike the pressed meats from Subway, I go bonkers for the cheesesteak wit whiz, mushrooms, onions and peppers!!! YUMMM. The food is fresh, flavorful and really satisfying. read more
