PhiloÇoffee is basically my Cheers. I've written a book within these walls while sipping my weight in their teeny macchiatos. I've kind of been putting off reviewing it because I love the atmosphere so much that I'll be bummed if it gets overcrowded. But there's usually plenty of room to spread out, and everyone deserves to know how great they are. It's equal parts coffee shop and lunch spot, with slightly upscale sandwiches and salads. I must admit that, due to their lack of gluten-free options (other than the occasional GF chocolate muffin and one of their salads), I rarely eat here. I do, however, keep coming back for the coffee because it's well-made, the service is excellent, and the ambiance is just plain beautiful. I love all of the light that comes into this older building. It almost feels like you're in a greenhouse. It's set up beautifully, with all different kinds of seating. You could just as easily meet a couple of friends here as you could read a book. They feature affordable local art on rotation, and it's of surprisingly good quality. I wish I had the space for all of the photos and paintings from PhiloÇoffee that I've wanted to buy! The backyard area is under this huge gorgeous shady tree--great for cooler days. I also can't stress enough how much better their music rotation is than just about any other coffee house. I think it's because they just let their employees pick what they want to hear, and they hire cool people. There's no rhyme or reason to what's on, but it never feels intrusive, annoying, or weird (and it's the perfect volume). Seriously, I'd let anyone in PhiloÇoffee make me a mix tape. Whether it's the Pixies or J-Lo playing, it's always what I want to hear that day! I'm a fan of good coffee, beautiful spaces, and nice people. PhiloÇoffee has it all. I love this place a lot. Recently I discovered this little jewel of a coffee shop with a friend of mine. The staff was very nice and the place very quaint. We ordered two cafe lattes, which came out skillfully executed and some wonderful breakfast sandwich that we shared. I will definitely come back, but perhaps when it's not sizzling hot outside. read more

Great local coffee shop in the Tobin Hill neighborhood. Friendly staff with great coffee and breakfast sandwiches. I had a great oat milk cortado and a very tasty ham, egg, and cheese croissant. Only complaint- If you don't want a runny egg dripping out of your sandwich you'll need to request the eggs be cooked hard. I'll definitely be back. read more

Very cute and quaint coffee shop. The space inside is pretty limited but there's a good amount of space in their patio. This coffee shop is great bc they offer a variety of options. Coffee, tea, juice, breakfast and lunch items. I got the lox and bagel which was good. The only thing I would suggest is tasting the bagel. I think they put it in a panini press and it doesn't have the same end result. My friend ordered the breakfast croissant, which she said was deciles. My other friend ordered the avocado toast which was a special item. Although their menu is limited, they do have hot and cold items for food and drinks which is what I am always looking for. Parking is on the street. Staff is super friendly and helpful. read more

So far a very big fan of this place! Lovely interior, chill environment, and overall a great place to relax or work. Parking is super easy, and there's tons of seating. There's only one 'normal' table though, so if you're counting on that for your workspace, you'll have to get lucky. There is plenty of bar seating though, and the bar stools have little lower back supports to them that make a world of a difference in this coffee shop nerd's opinion. The majority of seating here are armchairs, couches, and then random smaller chairs. All of these have at least one small table for drinks, and I imagine that if you're going to read or chat with a friend, they're perfect! The Coffee is pretty good, but not the best I've had in town. The vanilla cappuccino is absolutely fantastic, and I imagine other sweetened drinks/lattes are wonderful. The espresso on its own and the drip coffee aren't very impressive though! Really really tame--more of a 'enjoy it without the taste getting in your way' kind of profile than a bold or striking 'espresso/coffee' flavor. I'm sure that's perfect for some folks, but not for me. Still extremely enjoyable though, and I'll surely be coming back in the future! read more

So based off previous named explanations, it is similar to Philosophy (Phi-lo-so-ff-ee). Clever indeed, but all else is lacking. French theme is nowhere but the logo. It is located down the street which is why I loved having PRESS Coffee there. The personality of this place was very awkward tho. The coffee was meh. Decor lacking, furniture comfortable. Everything else just needs to follow. It has some things going for it, but it is like watching a sequel to a movie. Just not worth it, at least for rn. read more

What a cute ambiance! Very relaxed atmosphere and there are people who have laptops out and working. Think of a less congested Starbucks with a really artsy setting. Even the bathroom is petite and artsy in it's layout. I ordered the Winter Special: Praline White Mocha and it's super rich and delicious. I placed an online order for takeout. They recently added the online ordering, and it was convenient and easy to use. It still has a few little glitches, and I accidentally ordered a bagel and cream cheese side that was not part of my meal. They gave me the bagel and cream cheese for free and were very gracious about the whole thing. Staff was polite and wearing masks. Customer service was great. Will definitely use again for online ordering take out. And whenever Summer is over, I can't wait to actually dine outside on their lovely patio. read more

This was my first (and will be last) time here. I usually stick to Starbucks, but figured I'd try out a local biz. They have decent prices, BUT waiting nearly 30 minutes for an iced americano is unacceptable. I'm a pretty patient person and didn't have anything pressing going on, so, at first, I didn't mind waiting a little longer. I figured the drink was getting a lot of love and attention. After a while, I even glanced at the bar to see if my drink was up there and maybe I just didn't hear my name-NOPE, no drink. Then, I noticed 2 other customers who arrived way after me get their drinks within a "normal" amount of time. I inquired about my drink and the gentleman remembered I'd ordered an americano. So, FINALLY, MY DRINK WAS READY!!! But, I immediately noticed that it was WRONG- he made it hot. Now, by this time (again, nearly 30 minutes later) I really needed to head out to my next appointment and didn't have time to waste waiting for the correct order. I sweetened it (not too impressed) and left. FOR HAVING TO WAIT THAT LONG, I'M EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED. Kinda wish zero or even 1/2 a star was available...half star for the price. read more

This place is for sure the best coffee shop in town. Their coffee is fresh from well established local roasters, their staff is super friendly, and the food is amazing. The turkey pesto and the egg veggie croissant are my top two sandwiches. The espresso shots are extracted carefully to a great flavor that goes with any style of drink you like.
