I originally ordered the Saltburn Matcha, but it was a little too sweet for my liking. I asked if they could remake it into just an agave matcha with oat milk, and they did without hesitation. Very cute, but very much a touristy coffee shop - I mean, that's to be expected given its location. The decor is very millennial gray with marble and warm toned accents. Oh, to be a resident living above a coffee shop. What a dream... Anyway, Thirty Grind was the next coffee shop to cross off my list to try and rate their cortado. In addition to that, I ordered an Italian Cake Latte (iced, at the barista's recommendation) and a coffee cake (heated up, also at the barista's recommendation). The cortado was not my favorite. It had a bit of a burnt taste to it and finishing it was a little bit of a struggle. The Italian Cake Latte's foam tasted literally like Italian Cake! The desiccated coconut was a little weird to suck up through my straw, though. But after I mixed the drink the flavors were very, very good. In hindsight, I probably should have ordered it hot. The coffee cake was sweet with a nice crispy crumble topping. The layer in the middle tasted luxurious, like straight up creamed sugar and butter with a hit of cinnamon. Incidentally, it paired well with the cortado and made it more palatable. Staff was incredibly friendly and warm. I arrived to the shop rather early and by the time I left the shop was beginning to fill up, so I'm happy to see this spot seems to have its regulars who like to park and work on their laptops and just meet up for a catch-up. I can see folks shopping in the area taking a break here to duck in for a quiet moment, and I can also see the folks living here dropping in on the regular. This spot was a little tricky to find but once I did, it was worth it. My GPS had difficulty getting me there but it's in the shopping area by Eilan. The vibe is cozy and elevated, with patio seating and more refined coffee selection than your average SATX coffeeshop. Interestingly, their website makes it seem more like a restaurant, with plated meals and a dinner menu, plus dessert. My experience was just walking in to a coffee counter to place an order. I got one of their featured drinks, the nightcap - a bourbon cold brew with cinnamon cold foam. It is very bold and strong but tasty. When I got home, I did add a splash of milk so maybe taste before you leave just in case. Service was prompt and professional. Location was quiet and several people were sitting and working. Reason why I'm giving this place a two star and not higher is because when we ordered our sandwiches and I noticed the white part of the egg was a little runny and not fully cooked, I took it back to the front to request it be remade, the manager and cook ensured me it was. Despite me SHOWING them where the egg was NOT FULLY COOKED THROUGH. I cook eggs for myself everyday. And being pregnant the egg must fully be cooked through. They were telling me it's bc of the cheese melted on top. Which has nothing to do with the egg. You could see the clear distinction between the cheese and egg. I wish I had taken a photo to share. They would not take it back to be remade. So I just said forget it and we ate them anyway. Since I'm in my third trimester I figured I should be fine. However a great manager would have made sure they were remade. I use to work in the restaurant biz and the customer is always right. And I was showing them their error and they were working to convince me it was cooked all the way, again when you could clearly see it wasn't. Also my hubs strawberry lemonade was not even filled up all the way in the cup. I would expect if we are paying for something that doesn't have a refill, at least fill it up all the way. Oh and my BIGGEST disappointment is that there is NO BURRITO!! We actually came here for that specifically, only to find out that it has not been on the menu for over a year, yet that is the one review and promotion that pops up when you look at this establishment. So it's false advertising and should be taken down since they no longer make the burrito. Also if you're coming here to work, it's super small and cramped. I did see a ton of people sitting with laptops and having meetings. However I wouldn't come to this place to work, unless it's the only option in your area. Overall, next time I'm in town, we won't coming back here, primarily bc it's close to the Eilan hotel we stayed at and we definitely won't be staying there again. Went for their holiday menu and was surprised at the Tiramisu and Creme Brûlée lattes! They were delicious but the one thing thing is that it tasted more like a sweet drink than coffee but I didn't mind I loved it. The one thing I didn't like was their matcha because it was very water down and did not taste like matcha to me. They also have some bakery items that look good but I did not try any. The place is small and it seems to be doing well because the two times I've gone it's been full! The staff if super kind and very attentive. The wait time was not bad at all for how busy it was. Such a great little coffee shop at the Elian! I stopped by on a Wednesday morning and it was pretty busy but I was able to find a spot to do some work. They have a pretty extensive coffee menu but I decided on the churro latte ($6.25) and was more than happy with my choice! It was sooo good. They also have a pretty good breakfast menu with a variety of options. I got the breakfast bagel ($8.50?) and throughly enjoyed it! The food did take a while to come out but they did let me know that before I ordered which was much appreciated. However if you're looking for a place to study I would not recommend , maybe at least for a weekends it gets very crowded and drinks can take a super long time. I don't drink, so it's perfect for me! Even the drinks and food are all prepared with the utmost attention. This place is a vibe and the matcha is top tier. Former coffee shop and specialty tea shop barista here! I'm so sad I was short on time and couldn't stay as long because this café was so cool. I was super impressed by the newer barista in training because he made our drinks so well, and both baristas were so kind and helpful. It may have taken slightly longer for our drinks to come out, but we were able to enjoy the higher end, urban contemporary feel of the place while we waited. We ordered two matcha beverages, the Cozy Lavender Matcha with Almond Milk and the Clouded Matcha with Whole Milk. The matcha drinks at this shop are made with ceremonial grade matcha, are made traditionally (something I was super excited about), and come unsweetened unless ordered otherwise. My Cozy Lavender had the perfect lavender and honey balance to complement the matcha. The lavender extract had good sweet but earthy notes that balanced with the almond milk, and the honey gave the drink a smooth added sweetness. My fiancé's Clouded Matcha had a fantastic cloud top that was incredibly creamy and foamy, and was rich without overpowering the rest of the drink. The sea salt gave an excellent savoriness to the drink while balancing out with the sweetness of the caramel, and the white chocolate gave a deep but subtle richness to the drink. Despite the all of strong flavors they didn't overpower one another or the matcha itself, but created a harmonious drink packed full of flavor. Both beverages were crafted excellently, were silky smooth, and didn't have too much ice. I will absolutely return as this café has become a top five on our Favorite Coffee Shop Matcha list.
