I was ecstatic when I saw Philz Coffee opening up right next to my house! We already have Starbucks and Peet's Coffee kiddie-corner in opposite complexes, but honestly... they just don't compare. My go-to is the Philtered Soul. It never disappoints. I also love that they use heavy cream, which adds such a rich, smooth depth to the coffee that you just don't get everywhere else. Ordering through the app is super easy and convenient, and the staff here have always been friendly and welcoming. The only downside is the parking, It can get pretty packed in this complex, especially during peak times. But aside from that, I absolutely love having Philz so close to home. Location of this Philz is great, service is amazing too and inside is very clean. But, I've tried this location enough times to feel confident to say that every time I order my go-to (and I literally only order this one) it literally tastes different each time. I only order a creamy cream + sweet Estatic, and each time, the flavor fluctuates (depending on all the baristas I guess). One day it'll taste super yummy, spot-on to when I order at their downtown or Sunnyvale location. The next day I order, it'll have literally no sugar or hardly any cream. Very odd that they don't have a consistent formula down for this one drink. Also, if I get a large, it'll feel watery, too. SUCH a hit or miss and very disappointing to be so inconsistent!!! First time coming to this Philz Coffee. Shocker, since I typically frequent this area quite a bit. Our party of 3 arrived for a much needed mid day pick me up and a nice place for some kinder homework to get done. What could be a better spot?? Ordered: *Salted Butterscotch [hot] *Gingersnap Coffee [iced] [[both creamy & both sweet]] The drinks took a bit of time but that's to be expected. The baristas take their time when crafting your beverage. Both drinks were really good but I found the gingersnap to be extra sweet. So sweet that I ended up with the salted butterscotch- go figure!! 5/5 stars. My toddler really enjoyed her trip and her homework sesh here made her feel like such a big girl! the interior of the establishment is clean and spacious and has that bustling cafe vibe, and the baristas are nice and focused, but as i am someone who orders online to grab and go and not loiter, these aspects aren't super important to me. what i pay attention to is the quality of the drink, which unfortunately is always inconsistent and not always great. i usually get sweet sugar bc i like a sweet treat. if sweet sugar at other philz location is 100% sugar, this location feels like 150%, sometimes even 200%. it is way too sweet, even for me. i've tried getting medium sugar, but the taste wasn't to my usual philz standard either. out of the ~20 times that i've been to this location in the 1-2 years that it's been open, i think ive been completely satisfied with my drink less than 5 times. and yet, i still come back in hopes that my mint mojito will taste the way it tastes downtown :') read more

This review is long overdue. I've given this location chance after chance because I used to mobile order here frequently in the mornings, but the quality has been consistently disappointing compared to other Philz locations. The coffee is almost always bland, watery, and bitter. When my drink is made correctly at other locations, it's rich, creamy, and has a nice frothy texture. This drink looked and tasted completely different, watery, lacking creaminess, and with barely any milk. The photo speaks for itself. My most recent order was the final straw. We ordered six drinks, and every single one tasted watered down and poorly made. To make matters worse, none of the drinks were labeled. We had six different drinks and were left standing there trying to figure out which drink belonged to whom. How do you send out an order of six drinks without labeling a single one? What's even more frustrating is that I've heard the same complaints from multiple friends and have seen similar reviews from other customers. It seems like incorrect orders and inconsistent drink quality are common issues at this location. Unfortunately, this location consistently falls below the standard set by other Philz stores. Management seriously needs to address the quality control and training issues here. I won't be returning to this location. read more

So excited to have a Philz location in the South Bay. It was overdue! My go to for delicious coffee, you can't go wrong with the mint mojito and with the rosé on top, that's the cherry on top! I really enjoyed both drinks but when you can't decide I just combine the two and Wha-Lah!, the birth of a new fav coffee is born! I'm so glad that the barista is so kind and they won't stop until they perfected your fav coffee. You really can't go wrong with any drinks there and Philz is pretty strong coffee! When we heard there was going to be a Philz near our house, I was quite pleased! Finally, I would be able to order there enough to find my jam. I've had the mint mojito drink and other ginger snap, and neither of them were my 'go to'. I finally discovered my everyday coffee in the iced Tesoro with a small amount of cream, no sugar! It's delicious and it keeps me awake for the whole day with one large cup. I've always had my coffee to go, but this location has great spots to post up with a computer and study/work. Lots of young folk occupying the seats. It's a relaxed, and clean location. I love the feature of ordering ahead and picking up, Philz has this great option to delay the pick up time or make it 'ASAP'! Ok busy mornings, 7:45-9am, it's not a good idea to expect your stop to be 5 minutes. I would recommend ordering ahead of time. I LOVE that there's a Philz in this location now! It's super convenient and allows for more coffee options in this area. Yay!! While I generally love the coffee at Philz, this particular location has not been my favorite in terms of consistency in modification requests compared to other stores': I ordered a Sweet Harmony here on 6/9/25 for a pick up order with medium sugar, but the sugar was way too sweet (and not mellow like how I had it at another store - ordered the exact same way) it tasted like sweet sugar. I didn't like it and didn't finish my drink. Today, 6/20/25, I had my husband pick up an order. While I don't put the blame entirely on the barista (or whoever was sticking on the sticker for the cups), my husband should have checked the drinks rather than just the name itself. I ordered a large and received a medium. I'm not sure why the barista didn't double check (the size) upon making the drink to order so I'm a bit confused about that. Of course, because of the convenient location, I will be back. But after 2 "mess ups" each different time, I can't expect my drink order to be made correctly on the first try. read more

Apparently Philz Coffee is the coffee chain to go to in the Bay Area, and I'm glad that they finally have a location in east San Jose. So far, I've stuck with a philtered soul coffee base because I love hazelnut. My go-to drink is Honey Haze, but Philz always has seasonal drinks so I try to explore the menu whenever something new intrigues me. The baristas are always nice and offer to adjust the drinks if they aren't to taste. I think they're pretty consistent of the times I've gone in the morning. The only one-off was when I went during the afternoon on a weekend, and my Honey Haze was not as sweet as it usually was. I've been several times since it's near my workplace. Definitely put in a mobile order ahead of time if you can because they can take quite a while if there is a morning rush. Sometimes my drink isn't even ready until 5 or 10 minutes after my scheduled pick-up time. I've been to a few other Philz Coffee locations and one thing that I hate is how small the other parking lots are. They are jam-packed. This one is located in a plaza so there's plenty of parking. It might be a little busy during peak lunch hour, but you don't really need to stress about lack of parking compared to other locations. In addition to parking, the store itself is pretty large too. It's a good place to sit down and work with a cup of coffee. I only wish that there were shades on the windows for when the afternoon lights shines directly straight in. It limits seating if you don't want to sit facing the sun or with your back behind it since it still reflects against the computer screen. I pre-ordered my drinks ahead of time on the app for early morning pick up. Unfortunately, drinks were made incorrectly. One drink I requested for hot was made into iced. I was hoping that pre-ordering online could avoid the wait time. I ended up having to wait for my drinks and was running late. Then I left and tried the new drink, realizing that the sugar level was incorrect as compared to my rest of drinks. I think the barista remade it quickly for the hot version(making the default regular sugar sweetness), without reading that I specified light sugar on my order. In the end, I was late and also ended up with the wrong sugar level drinks. Way too sweet. I couldn't even finish my coffee. read more

The store is pretty large as it takes over the space where Five Guys Burger used to be. The ambiance lively, with colorful bright decor. One men and women restroom each with door code. Iced Coffee Rose: smooth and sweet topped with subtle rose cream (4/5). The barista asked, "if I needed it adjusted, just let her know." It had the perfect sweetness for me. This is an excellent Philz location. It's located inside a busy plaza which makes it a prime area. This is by far the largest Philz coffee I've been to aside from the old spot in Berkeley (from back in the day). The baristas aren't as enthusiastic here, but my coffee drinks have been consistently delicious the last few times I've been here. I really like the spacious seating and high ceiling look. It provides a big space for people studying, chatting with friends, relaxing, etc. There is a lot of ventilation which is nice because you don't leave the coffee shop smelling like beans. However once the spot was found and stopped by, this Philz has the same expected vibe you'd expect for any Philz. Staff are friendly, space is spacious and plenty of spots to sit to enjoy your coffee + work, and quality of the drinks here were perfect. I decided to try this new Caramel Cardamom Karma drink and it was spectacular! Sweet and creamy for me and it was made just right without any need for further adjustments. Wait time was slightly longer than expected but I came around the last hour of operation so it might be expected for last minute drinks. My visit here was not disappointed as I expected, enjoying a great cup of Philz coffee here and definitely knowing this will not be my last. Amazing!!!! So great to have a Philz on this side of the bay. Excellent location in the Brokaw strip mall. The coffee shop has ample seating and an area to wait. Very clean and great lighting. Love the decor supercool vibes. Everyone is super inviting. Helpful and courteous. Monica the manager came out to greet customers and Mark the shift manager very welcoming. The coffee was amazing made just like I like. I love that they ask how it tastes to make sure not to too sweet or enough sweetness. I got the new Nutty Carmel Nirvana. It has a slight chai taste but is delicious. I'm not a total chai lover so it was not too strong. I taste more cinnamon than Caramel. I hope they keep this on the menu. read more

I wanted to share some feedback about my recent experiences at Philz Coffee. Overall, we really enjoy coming here-every other barista we've had has made our drinks perfectly, and that's why we keep coming back. However, we've had multiple occasions where Justin prepared our drinks, and unfortunately, each time the drinks have tasted very diluted-more like flavored water than coffee. The first time, we thought it might just be an off day, but it has been consistent across several visits. At this point, we find ourselves hoping we don't get Justin when we order, especially with mobile orders where we can't request a different barista. We also usually don't have time to wait for a remake, so it's been a bit frustrating. We're sharing this not to complain, but because we genuinely like Philz and want every experience to match the usual quality. It might be helpful for Justin to receive some additional training or guidance to ensure consistency with the rest of the team. This Philz location is such a welcome addition to north San Jose! Happy to see a location besides the downtown SJ location open up. It's located in a plaza with ample parking, but it can be packed and hectic with very little spots available depending on what time you go. This location is also cashless, so all payments are by card. Compared to the downtown location, this one is much more spacious with a lot more seating. If you're a blueberry fan, I strongly recommend the blueberry breeze. I'm not a biggest fan of coffee, and you don't taste the coffee flavor too much in this drink. The blueberry taste is really strong. I've also tried their mint mojito and iced rose coffee, and both were good as well! read more

I'm glad there's a Philz in SJ that doesn't require driving to downtown. I had a great first visit at this location! I ordered through the mobile app and my two drinks (iced green tea and mint mojito) were ready a few minutes earlier than the pick up time. Drinks were well made! Very good sized space and cleanliness! I stopped by around 10:30am on a Thursday and it looked full in the table seating area. Smooth process for mobile pick up. It's in the plaza with city sports and a number of food businesses - parking can be limited when it gets full but I was lucky enough to snag a parking spot in front.
