I don't think I can keep giving this location a chance. Something is always wrong with our order, but today was really bad. I know what it's like working as a barista in a fast-paced environment on a busy weekend, but I don't understand how you can mess up so bad lol... Today we ordered one mocha tesora and one iced coffee rosé, and as we both took our first sip, our first reaction was that it was super watered-down. It's always been watered-down for months as we keep giving them a chance. Then we realized they mixed up our drinks, so the drinks did not match the labels. Waiting 15 minutes for our drinks was long enough, so I didn't want to wait for them to remake it as it seemed they were really stacked already. This is also the only Philz I've been to where they don't say, "Let us know if you need any adjustments", as well. And wow, I didn't know Philz was so generous as to garnish their drinks with coffee beans now.... I love Philz, but just not this location. read more

Ordered a hot chocolate and then a family behind me order a variety of complicated orders and I was surprised to see they received their order first. It's cool, didn't mind waiting as I didn't have time sensitive plans. I saw another order handed out and I politely went up to check in after 20 mins from my initial order. Barista rudely stated that it'll take some time. Ten minutes I'm handed a cold "hot chocolate". At this point, I had it and returned to the cashiers counter to request a refund and handed her back the beverage. I'm aware this could just be an isolated experience, but the amount of time I lost and poor service I experienced.. I will not be returning to this location.. ever. read more

Hmmmm....my worst experience at a Philz location, ever. I ordered ahead for my wife, thinking that she would enjoy the Winter Bliss knowing her flavor profile for coffee. I've had it, myself, and liken the Winter Bliss to a cup of hot cocoa because I don't taste any coffee in it, which is perfect for my wife. When I arrived at this Philz, it was easy to find parking in the Hillsdale Mall parking structure, especially with marked spaces if you were just picking up a food order. However, the coffee was the worst. This tasted like lukewarm, watery hot cocoa. Wow, like not good at all. I only know this because I told my wife to stir the coffee first, then retry it. She did and said that it tasted the same. When she asked me to try this, I was thoroughly disappointed. Yes, every location can differ, even the same one based upon the server of the day. However, this drink did not resemble anything other than "Watery, diluted, hot cocoa" at lukewarm room temperature. I live a short 5 minutes from Hillsdale Mall and love how close I am to Philz; however, every time I've gone, my Philtered Soul Cold Brew is watered down with that particular sour note of improperly brewed coffee. I came into this new Philz location ready to take on a long work day and was exploring the new renovations going on at Hillsdale mall. There were about 3 female baristas that were moderately friendly. I was not greeted when I came in and was rung up by a male Caucasian worker. What I didn't understand was why that male worker was in such a miserable mood. It was only 20 mins after 7AM during their opening hours, it's too early to be that upset. He looked like he dreaded ringing me up after he was completing a mobile order. Shortly after I was waiting for my coffee, I heard him saying something about swinging on someone??? Like if someone did him wrong, ok, all the more power to you. It's not wrong to vent your frustrations and his female coworkers tried to calm him down. Inevitably I think he should have just waited to comment such things when there aren't any customers in the store like myself and others. I think he needs a personal day off or a vacation. I was even more confused because the Philz mission statement was clearly displayed right next to the register so I was dumbfounded that those values weren't upheld at that moment. Please send help! The chai is pretty inconsistent (sometimes no mint, sometimes a whole bush of mint, medium milk means various things etc).
