AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING I'm one of those people who only drink black coffee with added shots on a daily basis, but I wanted to go out of my comfort zone for once and try something new. I was craving some Vietnamese coffee and since I was in the area for work, I decided to stop by this cafe after seeing the reviews on yelp that were raving about their Vietnamese iced coffee. Since it was my first time at this store, I told the barista to to work his magic. And he literally did. Where have I been all my life?!! He was so sweet and insisted that I try a sip of the coffee before paying to make sure I liked it. I'm actually a barista myself and at that moment, I felt so much gratitude and respect towards that man. I've never had anyone care so much about how something tasted. He waited for me to try it before taking my money. Wow. This world needs more baristas like him who hold so much pride and value towards their creation. I had the best experience at this cute, little store. I can't wait to bring my family and come back. If you haven't been to this place, you've been missing out. I didn't realize it until I had my first sip of their Vietnamese iced coffee. I didn't even check how much the coffee was because I was so shocked by how amazing it tasted. Stopping by Phin Smith was the BEST idea before our drive back to the Bay Area. After a resisting getting coffee during lunch at Pho 79 to save room for Phin Smith, I was SO SATISFIED. The atmosphere here s great. Very lively for a Sunday afternoon. Probably the busiest place on Main Street despite the Farmer's Market going on. What was most satisfying was the service. Hands down the most patient baristas. They were genuinely happy, and not that fake stuff. The coffee of course is amazing quality. Made to order, and they make sure you enjoy your drink and will help fix what you'd like done. WOW! I just found my new favorite coffee place. At first I was skeptical to try, I thought it was just another coffee shop, but exceeds my expectations! I tried COCONUT COFFEE, JAVACADO and BANANA COFFEE, and all of them are sooo good! Calvin (not sure if I got his name right) was so nice and the cashier. They will let you try the coffee before paying if you want any adjustment. The only downside in my opinion is the store hours which is 8 am to 4 pm. Easily the best boutique coffee shop in Orange County. Everything about this coffee shop is a perfect smash up of the Vietnamese and American culture. The owner certainly paid homage to his culture through design, decor, and drinks. Using the Vietnamese Scooter as the logo and having an actual scooter in its store is such a brilliant touch. The seating area inside is modern and welcoming. The shared back patio offers a more relaxed atmosphere with the shrubs overhead and and other greens all around. Aside from the design, the drinks are a perfect take on traditional coffee shop drinks with a modern flare. One of the most unique drink here is the Coconut Coffee. It contains Coconut slushy. The other coffee drinks are nice and strong, just like what you expect from a coffee shop. Service is always great. Workers are always friendly, patient, and helpful. I first tried this place out due to a recommendation from a friend. Since then, I've been here at least twice a week! SO GOOD The Coconut Coffee and Banana Coffee are amazing here! Quite literally the perfect blend of flavors in each cup! Also, each member of the staff is shows such genuine kindness. This little coffeehouse is in a killer downtown area. The coffees are not standard. I went in asking for a cappuccino and they said they don't make that. Ended up getting the Dustin, which was phenomenal, although very sweet hazelnut finish and overall fantastic. I would definitely be back to try the other coffees. read more

Ok such a cute cafe, first of all. Second, they have SUCH a cool concept for ordering. Instead of paying upfront, you order first, they call you when your drink is ready, then you try it and if you like, you pay! If not, I think they'll make adjustment until you're satisfied! Got a seasonal special: their lunar blossom latte (?) it's got super floral notes, kinda sweet and creamy. I personally really liked it. One thing I would say is that I came on a Saturday afternoon and seats fill pretty quickly and it's a little loud, so that's just some things to keep in mind. Was in California again this summer and I came here every single day I was in Garden Grove. It's just that good. The banana coffee has to have some dark magic to make it so delicious. I think there might be spices in there because it tastes like so much more than just banana milk and coffee, truly phenomenal. I wish I could get it as an IV drip. My sister has been obsessed with their javacado for over a year and demanded we stop to get it as soon as we landed. My mom is a strict americano drinker, but she did enjoy their blueberry matcha and said it wasn't too sweet. Service was impeccable as always, and just like last year, they ask if you have had the drink before and if you'd like to try it before paying. Tip those baristas! They work so hard. There was one time I had a drink that I actually didn't like (a first for me), the peanut coffee, and even though I had said with confidence that it was okay and paid before I got the drink, I ended up coming up to the barista counter and asking for a new one and they were so accommodating. Seriously five star service!! Ambiance is just as I remember it -- bustling, many people doing work or chatting with friends and family, and often I would see nursing students drop by. I do wish they would replace or fix one of the tables, or get some comfier chairs for the seating tables that are closer to the entrance. One of the tables isn't secure and tips over when you lean a bit on it (embarrassing for me lol). There is only one bathroom and I'm not sure if the employees get a separate one, so sometimes you have to wait to use it. I hope that the space isn't too cramped for the employees. I saw that on the corner nearby, Phin Smith is opening a brunch spot (?) and I'm very excited for it and hope that I can visit when I come back to CA. Most everything on the menu I've had before, but I did have the Taiwanese sea salt coffee for the first time, and that was very delicious! A new favorite. read more

This is my sister's and I go to spot for a Sunday morning coffee. We get our coffee and then stroll through the farmer's market. The service is usually pretty quick even on a busy day. I like how the barista ask if it's our first time when ordering drinks since they provide a bit more insight of what we order. People are usually in here doing homework since there is plenty of space. read more

I have taken so many people here and they love it. They've said it's the best coffee they've ever had. We are literally there almost every week. Located in old town garden grove . Cute spot. The coconut coffee is a must! Ice blending yummy goodness. Perfect balance of the sweetness of the coconut and coffee flavors. Also tried their melon bar matcha. You get more of the matcha flavor with a hint of melon bar. Will def be back to try their other coffees and teas! Probably one of the best coffee that's not Vietnamese branded! I'm personally not a fan of Starbucks, so I have always been skeptical to try something other than cafe sua da. The workers here are extremely diligent and helpful. They really care to make sure you are completely satisfied with your drink. I came by on a Saturday and met one of the owners working at that time, Xuan. She is also very helpful and knows her coffee beans. I was at Phin Smith yesterday and ordered a Lavender Latte. At first the person helping me was very nice. He said he will mix it first for me and will let me try it. He can adjust it to my liking if needed. I asked for an extra shot of expresso right off so he made it w/ an extra shot. When I tasted it, I asked if he can make it sweeter? He said ok and told me to wait. When I came back, he told me he made it w/out an extra shot of expresso so it will bw sweeter. I told him I wanted the extra shot but sweeter. He then told me he cannot do that. I asked do they have sugar? He said no, they only use honey. He told me to go ahead and just taste it. I tasted it and said I wanted the extra shot, I had requested that initially and only wanted him to make it more sweet. He then got very irritated w/ me and gave me an attitude and a look that made me feel I was not welcomed there. I asked if he has any sugar I can just put it in myself. He pointed to the counter across the cashier and said sugar is over there and handed me my drink and walked away annoyed. The coffee is good but thr customer service experience was horrible. Please do not say you can adjust it to my liking and then go do something else and give me an irritated and annoyed attitude. I come and purchase my coffee. You offer to adjust it for me so please don't turn around and treat me like I am asking too much. And you do have sugar, so don't go lying to me at first that you guys do not and then telling me at the end it's across the room. read more

Came here for the first time and the service was amazing. The staff that was taking my order asked if it was our first time and i said yes and told us that they would prepare our drinks and we can taste it first to see if we would want to make any adjustments or change the drinks. When we got our drinks, I took the first sip of my banana ice coffee and i have to say its the best coffee I've ever tried! My hubby ordered the blue berry matcha ice latte and I tried his as well it was bomb! My husband was like how did they make the drinks so perfect lol! We will be coming here more often and won't let the long lines intimidate us. The lines go fairly fast and they make the drinks fast! So worth coming here read more

Located in downtown Garden Grove (whoever thought they had a downtown?!) on Main Street. I parked in the large parking lot in the back and entered through the patio. It's a huge modern space that's connected to a food place next door that I saw people bringing sandwiches in from. It was really busy with students studying and people meeting up on a Sunday. The service was 5/5. They copied Phil style service where they do the pour over in front of you and then you pay at the end. They were willing to change your drink if you don't like it. The employees are really nice! The drinks are bad. The quality of the coffee is bad. I had an americano that wasn't great. The matcha was way too sugary and not matcha-y enough. Thai green milk tea tasted like half and half and not enough tea flavor. You can't adjust the sugar flavor. read more

I've been meaning to try this place, and finally had the chance to do so. Loved the decor, and the outdoor seating was quite nice. Although, this place does get packed so it's not as quiet as I would like. As to ordering the drinks here, I assumed they were like a regular coffee spot. I am lactose and intolerant, therefore I need my drinks to have a milk substitute. Good news they offer soy, and almond. Bad news, only a few selection they are able to do that customization for you. I wanted to order my lavender latte with a milk substitute, but they said they could not bc it they don't want it to have a taste I dislike? So on the left hand side of the menu which was cafe sua da, and like cold brew they could offer that? I know cafe sua da usually is prepared with a heavier milk and is traditional? I was a bit confused on why it was so set like that. Bottom line is, it didn't make much sense to me on their menu, and I can't do the milk, and they cant offer the customization. Nice workers, and nice place though. Anyway, I'll just stick to my lavender lattes at the cafes in Huntington Beach then. Thank you. read more
