SACHKOR ANG : Beef charbroiled on skewers served w/ pickled vegetable & house sauce. The beef chunks on these skewers were tender, juicy, and very flavorsome. Absolutely phenomenal and delicious. I'd get this again for sure. It was our absolute fave of all we ordered. 534. MOARN ANG KREUN : Chicken charbroiled w/ lemongrass spice served w/ pickled vegetable in Cambodian style. This dish was also delicious, although I would think the flavor would be much more elevated if the chicken meat was a bit more charred. 528. SLAAP MOARN BORG : Boneless chicken wings stuffed w/ lemongrass spice, bean thread, meat, black mushroom, onion & served w/ pickled cabbage & house sauce. This dish was so unique to me cause I would typically not order it, but I'm glad I did. This dish was perfect as an appetizer or as a main. The skin on the chicken was shiny and crispy, while the inside was hearty. Service: I would say just standard and could be better (no offer for water refill), but at least the service was fast. Ambiance: The restaurant looked awesome on the inside. I don't know much about Cambodian culture, so I don't know if what I saw was embodiment of that or not, but it looked nice. We came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. This is our second time dining here. We loved the food we got last time so we came back for more. The place is clean and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. We got seated right away with menus and water. I love that they have a good amount of vegetarian options. We ordered the curry tofu w/ steamed rice and Singapore noodles. The curry tofu had galangal which I've never had before. It's such a unique flavor, it gives this dish a distinct taste. It was very good and would order again. We also ordered the Singapore noodles w/ shrimp. It was tasty, love the yellow curry, but the shrimp was overcooked. The food was good overall and would come back again to try other dishes. I love that it's just down the street from us. It's a little pricy, but the portions were very generous. As a fellow khmer, the food was AMAZING! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because of the pricing. The beef sticks were 5/5 for flavor but you only get 4 for $19. This is the most expensive I have seen beef sticks. The quality was incredible though. The service was fast and friendly. I decided to come back for the first time in a while, and ordered ahead for takeout via the phone. I ordered the spicy tofu with lemongrass, asked for them to make it as mild possible, and the sweet basil fried rice with tofu. They said it would be ready in 20 minutes, and it was indeed ready when I got there. The lemongrass tofu was very flavorful, still a bit spicy - unsurprising since that's usually how lemongrass dishes I've tried have been. It was so juicy and delicious, I highly recommend it. The basil fried rice is savory and can hold up on its own, though I did feel like it was great to mix the lemongrass tofu dish with the basil fried rice as well. In both dishes, the tofu was nicely fried and a satisfying level of firm. Although the prices on the menu might not look too cheap, they give you a pretty generous and filling amount of food, so I feel it's well worth it, and they have a decent array of vegetarian options. read more

Flavorful sauce that has the right balance of salty and sweet Stuffed wings 5/5 - these wings are really stuffed, really flavorful but some parts weren't as crispy as others from what seemed like uneven frying. Duck curry 4/5 - generous duck portion, tender and seasoned well. This curry has a lot of turmeric which is overpowering for me and really salty from the shrimp paste. The charbroiled chicken was hot off the grill and really tasty. You can taste the lemongrass marinade. They use all thigh meat so the chicken is really juicy. The cha kathiw was not so great. I'm not familiar with Cambodian food so I asked our server (older Mr. Clean) for recommendations. The beef stick had strong fragrant lemongrass and sugar marinade. So good! You can see the thin slivers of lemongrass still on the meat. The fried promfret hidden under the pork was excellent too. They even deboned it. Made a return visit to Phnom Pehn House for lunch and, while it was still delicious, it didn't have the wow factor that it had the first time; maybe it was the dishes we ordered that didn't tickle my tastebuds the way the other dishes did. We ordered two dishes again; this time it was the Cha Kathiw with Chicken (Pan-fried noodles with beansprouts, egg, green onions, and chili sauce) and the Cha Bangkea Pka-Kana (Stir-fried combination of seafood with broccoli florets). Both were good, but very much like Chinese dishes. The noodles seemed somewhat like tomato beef chow mein with chicken instead and no tomatoes or onions; so it wasn't what I was expecting. The stir-fried seafood had a combination of calamari,prawns, and scallops, but it also resembled a Chinese stir-fry without any Khmer spiciness or deeper flavors. Still would recommend Phnom Penh House, but maybe order other dishes. Service as good and friendly, so that counts for a lot. I would definitely return to try other dishes. read more

We got seats right away, and was lucky to find parking a block away. The servers were nice, and I normally like the dishes here. But today was a bit off and disappointing. This new dish we tried taste like a lot of ketchup was just thrown on it, and not much other flavor to it. The angle wings, fried fish, grill meat was delicious tho. read more

My first time trying Cambodian food! I found this spot on Yelp and had never heard about it, but was looking for a casual but nice restaurant for a group of 4. We arrived pretty late around 8pm and there were still a few groups of people inside, but they were definitely nearing the end of dinner. Their menu has quite a wide variety of options and we decided to get a few dishes to share. We opted for the basil fried rice with chicken, papaya salad, lemongrass pork ribs, and shackor cha kyei (beef with veggies. All the food came out super fast which was a pleasant surprise. Upon first bite I was hooked -- everything was so delicious in such a unique way! The papaya salad was really fresh yet flavorful, the fried rice had the perfect level of seasoning, the beef was tender with a yummy sauce, and the pork was probably the most surprisingly delicious dish of the night. The ribs were really long and seasoned with what seemed like a fish sauce, and they were so flavorful and fragrant that I kept wanting more :") Service was nice and friendly, and the efficiency was a great plus. It was my first time trying this place but my partner highly recommended it. We ordered three dishes for takeout on a late Saturday afternoon. The food was quickly prepared (in about 20 minutes). 213. SAMLAW MACHHOU PHNOM-PENH - This soup was my favorite dish of the night. The soup was well balanced between flavors of sweet and sour. None of the individual ingredients tasted over-powering. I would 100% order this again. 528. SLAAP MOARN BORG - I am always a big fan of stuffed chicken wings. You can get so many different textures in a single bite! I also appreciated that the staff cut a hole in the container to prevent the order from getting soggy. Unfortunately, the skin was no longer crunchy by the time it got home. I would recommend eating this at the restaurant. 953. MINTY NOODLE - I liked the use of thicker noodles, as well as the flavor BBQ chicken that we ordered. I would also recommend eating this at the restaurant because the noddles felt a little bit mushy being stuck inside a box. The egg roll was also completely soggy and inedible. We ordered: Peanut sauce beef: 3/5 the beef was drowning in the peanut sauce would have been much better if the sauce was served as a dipping sauce. Served on top of a bed of spinach. Wow. Can't believe we haven't been here before. Went for lunch on a weekday and weren't sure what to order as there are a lot of options. We decided to try a few different things and share them. We started with the spicy fish soup. It was delicious! The broth was bright, lightly spicy, and so comforting. We slurped it up. The portions here are huge so bring containers and plan to take food home! We also ordered shrimp fried rice. Again, a huge portion. It was delicious. The food has always been amazing and they really kept their touch because they never phase to not make me leave in a food coma! What a treat! We generally don't see many Khmer restaurants in the first place. This is one of the few -- and it's really good. As a Southeast Asian person, I feel particularly qualified to judge the flavors :) They make some of the best angel wings I've had. The meat was tender and juicy throughout, the stuffed noodles were cooked just right (and not dry), and the flavors were lifted by lemongrass. Recommended. The chicken and mushroom soup hit the spot, particularly on a chilly evening. I enjoyed sipping the wonderful broth, infused with flavors of chicken, lemongrass, and green onions. The pork in eggplant was recommended by the gentleman employee (perhaps an owner?). Glad I asked. It was a novel dish for me, and it was delicious. Flavorful, sweet, and savory. Interesting combination of pork, eggplant, shrimp paste, and spices. A delight to eat the leftovers warmed up the next day too! Friendly staff! Seems like a family-run business. A colleague of mine recommended this place to me as she knows I go to Berkeley every now and then. Tonight, we went there for dinner. We got there close to 8pm on Friday night and it's a full house. We waited in the cold for about 15 mins. The owner came out and said he will try to "signal" one of the paid table to leave instead of kept on chatting. Good vibe!! Love this place, been here twice now and everytime the food is great. I love their eggplant dish. Its got flavor and feels refreshing. Their noodles are pretty bomb too. A must try if you're in the area. There is another location in Oakland and its delicious as well. Parking is relatively easy as well. You can always go right into the neighborhoods. Good food, good service. It was my first time going to a Cambodian restaurant so I didn't know what to expect. The restaurant is a little smaller so be prepared to wait! We got an assortment of food and enjoyed them all. My favorites were the traop ang which is the eggplant with pork and shrimp, the sweet basil fried rice and the sachkor cha kyei which is the beef sautéed with mushrooms and onion. The tofu with peanut sauce was good, but didn't seem like a new dish to me since we use peanut sauce a lot as well in our cooking. I was underwhelmed with this place. I was really looking forward to their angel wings, that's what I call stuffed chicken wings but the curry and dried chicken made this a miss for me. It's basically a dry flavorless chicken wing with a lot of curry noodles stuffed inside. The flavor balance was definitely off. The peanut beef was chewy and the spinach was soooo soggy and wet. There's nothing like watery limp spinach with chewy beef to male me reconsider why I chose this place.
