Came on a Saturday night and they were pretty packed inside. Since they rebranded from Bowl'd, it seems like they cut down the menu a lot. The spicy pork bulgogi was more sweet than spicy -almost like a Chinese sweet and sour pork and overly saucey. Husband liked the combo tang (season to taste). Soon Dubu was standard fare. Tdeokkbokki was probably the best dish. There's tablets on the table for ordering and requesting your check-which I can see saves extra staffing-but it left us waiting awhile for our check and for water. Otherwise 4 stars due to lack of other Korean options in Alameda. Would probably come back to try a lunch special.

My cousin and I ordered japchae, tteokbokki w/ cheese, and the soy chicken wings and everything was amazing. My favorite was the japchae and tteokbokki with cheese Service was quick and servers were friendly. The restaurant played k-pop which I enjoyed as well and the music wasn't overpowering.

Tang Jip is where my companion took me for my birthday lunch. I've always told him I regretted not trying spicy raw marinated crab when I was in South Korea. He wanted to take me here to try it since he knew I was curious. We came to this location of Tang Jip on a weekday afternoon. I can't speak much for the inside since we sat outside with my pup. But the inside seemed pretty spacious and modern. The outside was breezy and decent amount of space between tables. They took good care of my pup but had limited interactions with us in terms of checking on us. The food came out staggered. We shared the Kimchi Pancake, Pork Bulgogi, and Yangnyeom Gejang. The kimchi pancake was good, tasted typical to others. The bulgogi was also tasty, flavorful, spiced, and well cooked. Now for what I was most excited about, the crab! It was so spicy and well flavored. The texture was super soft almost like jelly. It was hard to wrap my head around but it tasted great with rice. Companion and I both agreed we were fans of the portion size and left stuffed! Tang Jip took over Bowl'd and is a great spot for Korean food in Alameda. Located in South Shore there's plenty of parking. Happy I got to try a new food and celebrate with my companion here.

I am happy they opened one of this Korean restaurant in this plaza! I quite enjoyed their food and the comfortable seating. The servers were kind and patient. The food arrived hot and delicious. I ordered the Galbitang, Kimchi Fried Rice, Combination Soon Tofu, Korean Fried Chicken (soy) and Bossam (small). My favorite dish was the Bossam. I made a lettuce wrap with the pork belly, veggies, sauces and kimchi banchan and it was A-mazingg!! I liked the soy garlic flavor of the fried chicken but I thought the chicken was a tad bland on the inside. Perhaps more sauce was needed on the chicken. I loved the complimentary banchans! The pickled cucumber and eggplant were my fav! Highly recommend! Great selection of food! Great service! There is plenty of parking. It's a great place to sit down to eat after shopping.

Ordered Dolsot Bibimbop via DoorDash. I was pleased with the presentation and how it arrived. The beef was savory and the egg was cooked perfectly and I love they packed banshan. My only feedback is that the rice did lack a bit of seasoning and was a bit too overcooked. I think this is something I should have ordered at the restaurant vs takeout. Overall I thought this was tasty and a good value!

I've been to Tang Jip a few times since their change of ownership. Employees have turned over but the food and service has been maintained and improved upon. We always get the Bossam, the Spicy Tofu Soup and the Spicy Pork. Occasionally we'll get the Cheese Corn and The Banchan has also improved with the addition of Eggplant! Also a free fountain soda with Yelp Check-In. My goTo place in Alameda for Korean food...actually there's only two place in Alameda.....

I grew up in Alameda and this has always been one of my staples in South Shore. I've always defaulted to getting the bibimbap with beef...and it never misses! Really solid portions and I loved how fresh all the ingredients tasted (bean sprouts, sliced cucumber, mushrooms, carrots, pickled veggies, etc). We also got the seafood pancake (with real pieces of squid) which was also so incredibly delicious (and may have become my favorite), but it was a little more oily than I'd have liked. Make sure you eat some of the bonchon as well (my fav was the fish cake + kimchi) The staff was so nice + the ambiance of the restaurant felt very modern. Definitely will be back!!

Great korean food, this is our go to spot for tofu soup and korean food cravings. Located in the south shore center making parking easy. Service is great and the ambiance is family friendly. Great for a casual hang out spot

The food here was great! Julie was our sever and was super fast with the orders. She took care of me and my two friends. The restaurant itself was clean, neat and played some easy going Korean music. I'll be sure to bring my friends and family to check out Tang Jip.

Really good Korean food in Alameda Had a great meal at Tang Jip! Everything we ordered was flavorful and satisfying, and the portions were generous enough to share. The food had that comforting, authentic Korean feel that makes you want to come back and try more of the menu. The service was also friendly and attentive, and the restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and easy to get to with plenty of parking at South Shore Center. Big shout out to Julie, YOU'RE THE BEST!! Definitely a great addition to the Alameda food scene. I'll be back to work my way through more of the menu!

This place was so good and the dried dumplings were bigger than other restaurants I go to and I would say the service here was AWSOME!

The survive and the good were AWSOME! The fried dumplings where bigger and the same price of any other restaurants, and their soy sauce where so good the service here where on point!

The food here doesn't seem to coming out pipping hot. The Soon Tofu was decent but not boiling hot enough to cook the raw egg. I simmered the egg and broke up the yolk so it got cooked. The kalbi was pretty good. We also ordered the seafood pancake which was pretty good. My cousin got the marinated raw crab. She said it was good. Service was a little slow and basically just 1 guy running around serving us. He said the other server had an accident so it was a little unexpected. The place got pretty busy after 6pm. Our dinner reservation was at 5:30 pm.

Overall I think this place is decent but the price is a little higher than it should be for the quality. There was no one in the restaurant on a Thursday around 7pm. One other party sat down a little after us. It's a trendy place with a large bar area with a large tv that was playing kpop videos. We ordered Galbi, chicken wings, and raw marinated crab. The raw marinated crab was good, that's the main reason we came. I've been craving it awhile. I wish they also offered soy marinated crab. Galbi was decent, it was slightly dry in my opinion but I liked the flavor. The chicken wings were good and there was a decent portion. What we thought was strange was that when we asked for a second round of ban Chan, they all seemed a little old. The potato salad seemed dried out and the radish weren't crunchy like the first round. I think there are quite a few other Korean restaurants I'd pick for dinner but I would object if a friend wanted to come try it out.

Unfortunately, they ran out of the gnocchi soup option, which was the draw for me to come here. I was disappointed with that. Got kimchi stew with beef and mixed-grain rice instead. Banchan is great! There was only one waiter working, and while he seated us quickly, we were ready to order but he kept cleaning tables instead. Since there were no other customers, I kind of wish he took our order first because cleaning could have waited. There were two people sitting in the back who looked like managers going over numbers or something, which felt a little awkward too. When the server finally came over, we both ordered the bento and asked what kind of soup came with it. He seemed caught off guard that it even came with soup, so we had to point it out on the menu. He said it was seaweed soup. Food came out pretty fast and looked great. Everything tasted really good overall. My only complaint is the soup. It had a strong fishy flavor, probably from the dashi. It gave it more of a Japanese taste, which felt a little off for a Korean restaurant. I would have preferred something like tofu, bean paste, or daikon soup instead. The banchan was tasty and there was plenty of food. I also liked that they offer multigrain rice since not all Korean spots do that. I think this place is slow mostly because it is right across from Ohgane, which is all you can eat Korean BBQ. If they had more lunch specials or promos, it might help bring in more people. The food is solid but the vibe and service could use a little more energy.

I was violently craving seolleongtang and did some research to find a spot in Oakland. The menu is pretty big with a lot of enticing options--I love bossam and blood sausage--but because I had tunnel vision, I stuck with the soup. The broth itself was good, and they had salt and pepper on the table so you could season it to your liking. Unfortunately, the noodles were way too soft and almost mushy, and the meat was extremely tough and hard to chew. I couldn't finish it. If seolleongtang is one of your favorite dishes, I'd probably skip it here. My husband got the kimchi fried rice, which was huge and great for sharing between 2-4 people. Based on the portion size, I do think it could use an extra egg, more Spam and some nori on top. It leaned more oily and buttery than other versions I've had, but it was still good--just nothing too special. The vibe and service were solid, so I'd come back to try other dishes and update my rating accordingly.
