The only reason why I'm giving this place two stars is because the service was pretty quick. But I wouldn't ever return for the food. I don't know what kind of pho the positive reviewers were served, but what we got served was something you'd get from a cheap powder packet that they have in the back of any viet stores lol. It tasted like they over poured the MSG packets. It wasn't a pleasant experience. My cousins who came from Orlando and I are used to good viet restaurants since we basically lived in Orlando's little Vietnam. We haven't tasted pho this bad a long time. But what I would recommend is to go to Saigon Noodle! Their broth was clear and dark, didn't taste like they made their soup in 5 minutes, and it tasted like what we would make at home. I was in the Salinas area for the weekend for a racing event held at Laguna Seca. My friend and I craving for some Vietnamese food and stumbled upon Pho #1 Noodle House. He had ordered the Beef and Meatball Pho, and I had the Spicy Noodle Back Rib soup. (Bun Bo Hue) We were both pleasantly surprised with the depth of flavors in both broths, and my rib was fall-off-the-bone tender. Our appetizers, the fried chicken wings and egg rolls, were freshly fried, and the egg roll filling was super fresh. The server, Stacy, had recommended us the Thai iced tea, which she said the restaurant freshly brews every day. It was the perfect accompaniment to our soups and appetizers. I would definitely come back for the food and service, as it's not necessary to drive all the way up to San Jose for quality Vietnamese food. read more

I was pleasantly greeted by the owner and promptly offered the menu. The options are many and I asked if they had Ox Tail Pho. Owner replied that she'd be having it start on Tuesday (1/22/19). She also is considering adding fresh noodles as an option soon. So I ordered the combo Pho while next Tuesday comes by. The Pho broth was delicious and tasty, not to salty. The meatballs, steak and tendons were tender and savory. The usual sides like sprouts,jalapeño were present but the cilantro was added. I asked why? as other places don't offer it but she says that she listens to her customers and they were requesting it so she added. Their Vietnamese coffee was great too. Second time here. Everything we ordered was delicious and prices were reasonable: The shrimp fried rice and the fried chicken were so good! Rice was tasty yet not oily at all, and the fried chicken was very crispy. Both 5/5 Spring rolls were excellent as well. I really enjoyed the warm rice paper. 5/5 Beef with rice had a really good favor to it though I wish it was not so well done. 4/5 Avocado shake was really good...not too sweet with chewy boba. I love Vietnamese food, I will say I have eaten at quite a few Vietnamese restaraunts in California, Washington, Hawaii and Arizona. I am a creature of habit and will order the same dish. The Spring Rolls were by far the worst I have tasted. They were extremely sticky and rubbery and pretty small for the price and not a fan of their peanut sauce. The number 20 is a vermicelli salad. This dish is over priced the amount is small. The deal breaker for me was the fish sauce. It was bland usually the fish sauce is fragrant and brings the salad together not this dish. The Pho I tasted the broth because it was unusual for me to see a dark broth for Pho. Again was not a fan. I was truly hoping this spot would have been a hit. It gets 2 star because the service was good. However. I ordered the dry rice beef bowl. What I got was a bowl FULL of vermicelli with a half handful of greens and 11 very small pieces of meat. It was NOT filling at all. The meat was flavorful but everything else was very bland. I ordered the vietnamese iced coffee as I have had it in other places and it was amazing. This was just a dark roast coffee with a splash of regular milk for color. Vietnamese coffee typically uses a condensed milk for flavor. Oh that coffee was $4 for about 6 ounces of drink. Let me tell you a story. I love Pho and I love eating at different places to get the flavor of different broths. This place did not disappoint. Layout: It is small and if you come during a busy time, lunch or dinner, you will not likely find a table. We had to sit at the bar but it wasn't bad and was served pretty fast. Food: I had the chicken soup and it was very tasty. The typical PHO tradition of giving you tons of noodles and small amounts of chicken. I could use more CHICKEN!! We also tried the fried egg rolls. Food- I came with my mom who ordered the basic rare beef pho and she said her meat was a little chewy and the broth itself was average and that there is better. I had ordered the veggie pho and while I was happy with it, I still found it pretty average. The kind of tofu they use is very soft and I personally prefer the firmer kind especially for pan frying and adding the to soup. We also ordered the tofu spring rolls and they were also just okay. The sauce was a little different than what we usually get (on the saltier side) but it was probably to add more flavor to the roll itself. Fresh but plain; could have used some mint leaves in there as well. Service- We were greeted immediately and sat down and service throughout was prompt. We even got checked on twice by the servers to make sure everything was good and to see if we needed anything else! Overall, this place has potential and I do hope it grows. It's so good that my boyfriend and I would come here 1-2 times every week, it was to the point where they remembered our order, lol it's a bit embarrassing but it shows that these people actually do pay attention and care for their customers. Salinas is growing! this restaurant opened shortly after another pho restaurant. This place is tucked away in the Walmart parking lot. I ordered their special to go. I think the food is okay, with so many other options there is no wow factor, when it comes to the broth. I do appreciate the quality of the meat, and also the portion of rare beef they give! I will try it again, dining in to see if my experience changes. I was skeptical about this place because I was sooo used to my old Pho place but decided to give this one a chance and let me know tell you when this place is AMAZING. The service is fast and the waiter that was helping us was very friendly. The portion size was perfect and the ambiance of the place felt very homey and comforting and I didn't feel like I was being rushed to eat my food I felt I couldn't actually sit there and enjoy my meal. The only thing they don't have that the other place does is Banh Mi sandwiches but other than that I think I just found my new Pho spot. read more

My granddaughter And I went to have a dinner my granddaughter had number 26 and I had number 27. The 27 was the vermicelli with shrimp and there was only about 8 small shrimp and the noodles on 26 & 27 were clumped together. They need to heat the noodles in hot water to soften them up.
