I wanted to like this place and ordered food to go. The Bahn MI sandwiches were hard as a rock and barely any meat. The meat was also so salty. The vermicelli bowl I got without noodles and extra veggies, there were barely any greens on it and 3 tiny overcooked shrimp along with shredded mostly fatty beef. Since I been doing vegan it's hard to find places in small towns that offer vegan on their menú. I had researched noodles in Salinas because I know soup would be easy to find. The first place I found was ph0#1 . I looked online at they menu, saw right away there was a vegetarian section. Already I was excited. Saw things o want to try . For whatever reason my boyfriend to me to another pho place . We sat and the menu gav no vegan options. We left and went to pho#1. Right away to confirm they do have vegetarian options. They have at least 5 vegetarian options . We ordered vegetarian spring rolls, vegetarian noodle soup,vegetarian fried rice and stir fried vegetables over vimercelli noodles. The spring rolls were delicious of course I had theim with the peanut sauce , which surprisingly I liked. (Usually I i never eat it). The soup was the best part vegetable broth and veggies. There is place that don't offer a vegetable broth. But this place is amazing for having veggie broth. Fried rice was interesting and delicious. Interesting in that the rice was a little sticky, which I loved. Veggies in the rice were cooked to perfection. I tried the stir fry with the vimercelli noodles just for the review, because there a fish sauce with it. Even though I only tried one noddle, it had a very good flavor. The service was friendly . I would have loved it if my boyfriend didn't have to get up couple of times. He had to get up to add an appetizer, to get a to go box and to pay. This I didn't like . Also, you will be charge 15% if you want to eat in the parking lot and you will not be told that at the time you let them know. (there is a small sign at the cash register)! I love supporting these places and I'm always on the lookout for a good Tofu Banh Mi sandwich. Unfortunately, this one was, well, a 3 out of 5. The bread was excelling, the tofu was deep fried and plain (not my favorite), and there wasn't much else on the sandwich. One thin slice of cucumber and I think I tasted a tiny piece of a spicy pepper. So overall pretty dry, flavorless, and with little nutritional value. But with good fresh bread like that, it wouldn't be too hard to pile on the vegetables and sauce and end up with a real winner. read more

I've been waiting for this place to open for quite a while and was happy to see that they finally did. Food: we ordered the pork & shrimp spring rolls and #2 pho option. We wanted to order the fried chicken wings and lemonades but they informed us that they ran out for the day :( kind of a disappointment but understandable for a business that doesn't yet know on how many ingredients to have stocked up. Service: waited a few minutes to sit down which isn't too bad. They took our order and brought us what we needed when we asked but after receiving our order they didn't bother checking up on us and trying to capture their attention to ask something was nearly impossible. Hopefully the employees will get better at customer service. Overall food was decent and service can definitely be improved on. Won't be coming back for a while, maybe a few months, until they've had time to establish better service and have knowledge on what menu items to keep up on. read more

I ordered the vermicelli noodles with tofu and vegetables. It literally had ZERO flavor. No trace of any seasoning or spices, not even soy sauce! Just vegetables fried in flavorless oil and noodles straight from the boiling water. I have never tasted something so bland. Horrible! Their vegetarian egg rolls were mushy inside and contained ZERO vegetables just some mushy noodles with no sauce to dip them in. I strongly recommend you spend your money elsewhere. read more

Second week of opening. The food was good. Service was poor. We have been waiting for this place to open for the longest time. Figured we wouldn't go on the first opening day or so. The place was full, so we waited for a table, no problem. The table they gave us was just cleared, and still a little sticky. Even after the water dried there were really sticky spots, but couldn't catch the attention of a server. When they finally came and took our drink order we ordered fresh lemonaide and a soda. That took a while, and I watched the drink maker open a dry packet and mix-up the lemonade for us (so much for fresh, ok fresh mixed). The soda was so warm it melted the ice in the glass right away. We finally had our order taken 45mins after being seated. My wife ordered seafood Pho noodle soup, I ordered spicey noodle combo, my son ordered fried rice. The rice was served, 10 mins later my noodles were served. Then a couple tables that came in after us were served noodles, then the cook came out and told us they ran out of noodles, would my wife want something else. WHAT! YOU SERVED OTHER CUSTOMERS OUR NOODLES? So much for order priority. They didn't even offer to reduce one meal or comp. For the food I would give it 3 1/2 stars. For the Service 1/2 a star or 1 star. We will try it again, but maybe after the holidays. Hopefully it is just a learning curve... we will see... read more

Don't waste your time going here. We went here seeing 4 star. It turned out to be horrible. There smoothies are made out of powder and they are awfull. There serving size is small and don't even taste good. The chicken sandwich barely had any chicken and was dry. The egg noodles were slimy and had soy sauce as its gravey. Food was just so-so, not really authentic Vietnamese flavors. We ordered shaken beef, but we had to ask for the lime and salt and pepper dipping sauce that should come with it. Also, there was a sauce on the beef that made it taste very sweet, not at all what bo luc lac should taste like. We asked for some fish sauce to dip the meat into before dipping into the lime sauce, and that did the trick! But we shouldn't have to doctor the food ourselves; the food should be cooked properly to begin with. As for value, the food is overpriced for what you receive; for example, an order of 3 very small (about 3.5 inches long and the circumference of a man's thumb) egg rolls costs $6.75--that's $2.25 per roll and sooooo not worth it! Also, they weren't very good--tasted pre-made. Condiment bottles and jars on the table were coated with grease and were sticky; it seems like they have never, ever been washed off. I would not touch them. Although I spoke to the server about this, I don't think he appreciated my comment. He seemed to take on a detached attitude as if he resented a tactfully stated suggestion, and I doubt the items will be cleaned anytime soon. Would we go back? No. read more

I have been eagerly anticipating the Grand Opening of this place for many months now and I am so grateful it finally opened! Let me tell you, this place was so worth the wait! It is impeccably delicious! Me and the hubby got the Vermicelli Chicken Noodles, Spring Rolls, and I also got the #2- Medium Rare Beef Pho and everything was delectable! Every time I get Pho, I tend to always make sure the broth is savory, full of flavor, and compliments the noodles well and this place does just that. Let's face it, the broth is what MAKES the soup and in this case everything was on point! The addition of this establishment makes this the fifth Pho Restaurant in Salinas now and it is remarkable how much this one stands out compared to the rest now. From the interior, the versatile menu, and so on. I am proud to say this is officially the best place in Salinas to get your Vietnamese fix with Thanh Loi being a very close second. The best Pho broth ive tried so far! Had the combination pho and the oxtail combination pho on a different day. I usually never eat the broth but at this place I could drink it. I wonder what special ingredient they put in it because it tastes different then others. I looove the extra amounts of cilantro too. The downfalls would be that the service is quick and efficent but waitress looked pissed off about something and was staring at me like she didnt want to help me. Instead of limes they give you lemons to go with your pho. Id rather have lime. And I ordered a Taro Boba, the smoothie part was good but the boba tasted old. So first of all this is NOT good Pho!!! The other high star reviews have obviously never really had decent Pho to think this is good. Where do I begin? Well first of all the portions are a huge disappointment ordered a large and if what I got was a large I would hate to see what a regular is, I paid 11.25 for what is equivalent of a top ramen soup amount of noodles. The soup was just an all around sad showing for something people are considering to be Pho. Also ordered meatballs as an add on for the Pho did not get them so paid for something I didn't even get adds to the disappointment of this experience. The dry noodles my fiancé ordered also came as a equally huge disappointment paid for pork got pieces of diced tasteless meat the whole plate was tasteless not something you would expect from a Vietnamese restaurant. Made the mistake of ordering the spring rolls with shrimp and pork, let's consider this the third strike for this restaurant. The rolls were another tasteless part of this disaster of a order. The shrimp was cut in half and the paper thin piece of pork in no way helped these sad rolls. And whoever is making what they are calling peanut sauce needs to reevaluate there career, because hoisin sauce with a couple piece of real peanut IS NOT peanut sauce, seriously it was just a packet of hoisin sauce with some peanuts sprinkled on top. Was really just a very disappointing experience, it was the first and more than likely last time I would try this styrofoam and I say styrofoam because no real restaurant would serve this kind of tasteless food to its customers. read more

The pho is delicious, my wife and I both got #5 soft tendon and we loved them! Very clean and nice, the only thing we didn't like was the coconut water seemed to be very sweet and tasted canned even though we were told it was fresh out of a coconut. We will be back soon! read more

So i have visited this new noodle house 2 times now since it opened. Its got its pros and cons like any place. I've decided that i really like it. Pho broth is pretty good and flavorful. I order pho #10 w/ meatballs. Meatballs are full of flavor and very tender. Another i like to order is their grilled pork spring roll, a little chewy on the outside but very fresh tasting. The fried rice was super salty and very oily, i won't order that again. Also the smoothies/freezes are good but so small for the price they ask. Hopefully they drop the price or increase the size a little. But I'll be back great new spot. read more
