I always have a craving for Banh Canh, and so far, this is personally the best option I've found. I order the Banh Canh Cua. The both has a nice thickness to it, the ingredients are perfect for my palette, and the noodles are cooked perfectly. There are normally two sizes for their souls (regular and large). Beware of how big the large is! Even the regular is pretty filling. As for other orders, their pho and com tam are pretty good too. As for service, however, I have mixed feelings. The servers are nice and answer questions. But they don't seem too knowledgeable or attentive. We constantly had to ask for one thing after another because they'd forget or just didn't think to bring some things out. Parking has never been an issue with the decent sized lot with plenty of spaces. And the size and seating of this place can be described the same. Overall cleanliness is decent as well. read more

This is my favorite pho place in the area. Great prices and flavorful dishes. I usually order their B4, which is always flavorful and has the best meat in my opinion, it has pork, pork hock, and pork blood. It also comes with Thai chili peppers on the side. I usually dump the whole small side dish in my hot bowl of soup and it just adds the perfect amount spice for me. Today, since it was such a warm day, I figured I shouldn't order something hot. So, I ordered a vermicelli bowl. I ordered the one with the pork and egg roll. Pork had a nice char to it and it had your typical sweet marinade. Overall, it was a good bowl. I haven't tasted anything in the menu that I didn't like. The pho is excellent, their satay beef and chicken, too. The fried rice is tasty (and I usually don't order this anywhere, but my friend ordered it and I enjoyed it very much). Their quarter leg of chicken is flavorful. Service is attentive and if you smile, you get a smile back from the owner's daughter. A family ran restaurant, nothing fancy inside, just good tasting food and good service. I will be back! It's Pho. To be honest, I can never really rate pho restaurants well because they all taste the same to me. Everyone tells me there's a difference in broth, but I can't tell. So why am I giving Pho 36 five stars? Well simple; I love pho. How can you not?! It's the cure to drunkeness and the reliever of colds. Anyways, the restaurant is nothing spectacular. Omgg the softest, freshest paper rolls I've everrr had at a restaurant!! So soft and everything was well portioned. I've been here a handful of times, had the pho dac biet, egg rolls, spring rolls, and the bun bo hue. Everything is pretty so so. I'd say this place is more of a 2.5 star kind of place. The pho isn't offensive, the egg rolls were ok but a little greasy, the spring rolls had way too much lettuce and the wrapper was thick and chewy. I was happy to see bun bo hue on the menu and it had just about all the real fixins (lettuce instead of cabbage though). Sadly I have to say that the bun bo hue wasn't that great. The broth seemed like it was recycled pho broth with some extra stuff added. The broth wasn't spicy or bold and the pig trotter seemed old. You can definitely get much better in just about any place in the ID. I prob won't drive out of my way to go here again, but if I was in the area and wanted viet food, I'd make sure not to order the bun bo hue again. read more

This pho place is essentially in my backyard. They're adjacent to my townhouse complex by the El Rinconsito. They're food is spot on every time, and I never have to wait very long to get it. Because I eat it so frequently (during the rainy months anyway), I've become somewhat picky about the flavor of the broth. This pho was good, but the broth was clearly lacking something. There was plenty of cilantro and that's a big plus, but to me it seemed to be missing something. There was a generous helping of meat, but only 2 slices of jalapeño. My northend go to place for Pho place was closed so I found this place with my Yelp app. I was hungover and hungry as f*** during my lunch break from class. I sat at an empty table. I finally made eye contact and wave over the skinny asian kid with glasses to get some help with a menu. I ask for glass of ice water. Waited. Notice right away the menu was limited on Pho and not much selection on broken steam rice dishes. The prices are higher than I am use to for similar items in Seattle with better options of meat and variety. I wave the kid over again. I didn't see anything I like so I order a special order of Pho with meatballs, beef flanks, and tendon. I like that they accommodate me on my request. I finally got the glass of iced water from the owner with only one napkin. LOL. I guess you need to order first before you get some iced water? All the pho is beef broth but the bland and salty. It should be more savory with touches of sweetness. The broth should be so good that I don't need to add anything to it but I needed to add the basil, sriracha, another hotsauce, jalapeno, hoisin, lime, and pepper. Large is about $7.15 but charge me more for my special order....so I expected more flavor to the broth and more meat. If you are going to have the same prices or more than I Love Pho in Bellevue it shouldn't just be two meatballs cut in half to make it look more, small pieces of tendon, and more meat. I was also disappointed that the bean sprouts was old with discoloring on it. Also, they charge you a dollar extra for using your credit card/debit card if the total is $10 or less so yeah, they charge me another buck for my lunch. Pho 36 doesn't have the worst but it is still over price Pho for average tasting bland Pho. Right before my half marathon, the weather wasn't warm. Therefore, I felt like having Pho. I always drove by here but I've never tried. I saw the reviews, it wasn't too bad and I decided to give it a shot. I walked in and the seated me right next to the fish tank. It wasn't weird until I started eating. Those fish were staring at me! Anyhow, I had a regular size pho with all meat and fresh rolls with peanut sauce. I really enjoyed the fresh rolls and their peanut sauce. I thought it was really good. I wish there were more sauce thou. My pho was just ok. There's enough meat for me. However, I feel the broth was a bit lack of flavor. The staff was friendly. The lady came by a couple times and ensured I was ok. Overall, it wasn't too bad of the experience. I saw people ordered something that I've never had before. I was bummed when Kirirom, the Cambodian/Indochinese place that was here before, went away. You usually have a hard time forgiving a restaurant, even a good restaurant, for taking over when a favorite goes away. But in this case I'd be crazy not to. Actually, the fact that they kep the furniture and the place looks substantially similar to Kirirom in many ways probably makes it simultaneously a bit easier AND a bit tougher to forgive 36 for taking over for Kirirom. They do appear to have repainted the place, though, and that's one big reason why 36 rules the Lynnwood pho roost. For about a dollar more per dish, you feel like you're eating in an actual restaurant, instead of being surrounded by linoleum and flourescent tubes like you are in so many pho (and teriyaki) places. Service here is awesome. So friendly, so affable. I love people who are relaxed and having fun at work, all other things being equal. Great soup, great broth, great vegetables, great meat, great condiments, great appetizers. Great bubble tea. It ends up costing me a dollar or two more for a bowl of soup and a glass of tea here, and I am super loyal to the lady who owns Pho Ta Chau 'cause she's always so sweet to me. But 36 makes it effectively impossible for me to stay completely phonogamous. read more

This is a focus review on just one item: Bun Bo Hue (menu listing: B-1) If you are in search of the West Coast's number one bowl of BBH, you will find it here. That's a heady statement, considering I have been consuming all types of Vietnamese noodle soups for over twenty years, mostly in Seattle's International District and lately on Bolsa Ave. and Brookhurst St. in Westminster, CA. Here's why-- liquorous and savory broth bathing thick noodles and a variety of meaty cuts, including beef, pork meatballs, pie cuts of bloodcake, and the centerpiece cross-section cut of pork knuckle that sometimes includes a jammy pearl of marrow that is ALWAYS worth a forceful kiss to remove. I have never been to the ancient capital of Hue but, through the complex, evolving flavors, I can lustily imagine strolling through the many neighborhoods as I devour my way through this hypnotic bowl of goodness. Condiments include shaved banana blossom and a few other exotic herbs that are not part of the standard pho experience. I am no herbologist but I can say the plate of sides is colorful to look at and delicious to eat. This is exotic stuff, people. Fire up the bowl by requesting "extremely spicy" and, in addition to extra chili oil in the soup, you will also receive an accompanying side of orange-hot chili flakes. I would recommend a glass of Thai iced tea for rescue operations. You could order other dishes, but WHY would you pass on what is, after over a thousand bowls of fine Vietnamese cuisine, the finest soup noodle experience EVER? Follow this recipe and you will discover for yourself how good soup noodles can be once you depart the realm of basic pho. I used to go there when it was still "Kirirom Bakery" and was sad to see them go. Little did I know that such a wonderful restaurant would come to replace them! The food is legit Vietnamese cuisine. The owner and cook both hail from Vietnam (moved here about a year ago I think) and are really passionate about serving authentic food from their country. There Pho (which I actually haven't had yet since they moved in here because I'm always distracted by all the other delicious dishes!) is supposedly very close, if not exact, to the soup they've had back home. Pho not your thing? No problem!! Go have a Vietnamese sandwich. I think it's some of the best sandwiches I've had (including Seattle area). I recommend the Lemon grass Beef sandwich. So good!! Next, I recommend (as did the previous reviewer) the Bun dish. Its the perfect dish on a hot day and leaves your belly feeling light and happy. Omg! Don't let me forget the Calamari!! The owner personally recommended the Calamari appetizer the first time I went in after they opened. Ok. So, picture the shape of an onion ring--you are thinking a giant breaded ring of goodness...mmmm.....fried onion...breading...goooood...--still with me? Ok. Now, replace said onion with Calamari. The item you must try is ultimately the "bun bo hue". Slightly spicy, the broth is fragrant with its abundance of lemongrass. The ratio of meat that you get in this dish, as well as the variety of different cuts & textures cannot be beat anywhere else. International District included.From the brisket, the ground pork patties, to the pork knuckle; were all well cooked and tender to the bite. Perfect for the carnivorous, the chilly rainy days, the crappy bad days, or any other day of the year. Even my picky parents have given this bowl of soup their golden seal of approval. It's obvious the Bun Bo Hue here is the owner's family specialty. Definitely a mainstay for sure! I also tried the Bamboo Duck Noodle Soup, which I couldn't help since it was a "new menu item". I like to live on the edge. This dish customarily always comes with a side of duck salad, garnished with fried shallots, some pickled radishes & carrots, and a side of fish sauce/ginger vinaigrette sauce you dip the duck; as well as season the salad with. The salad was my favorite part, because the main component of the salad is finely shredded or sliced crunchy cabbage. The broth was perfect, mildly sweet and savory with back notes of bamboo. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough bamboo shoots, and the duck was overcooked. Since this is a new menu item, there is always room for trial and error. I'm sure if they remove the duck from the boiling broth like 10 minutes ago, it would've been a home run! Service was quick and prompt. Bathrooms were tidy.
