The pho here is very well done. I am really picky about pho and hadn't found anywhere I liked in North County until I tried this place. It comes out piping hot as most like it, but I always add some ice. Although the businesses in the area look rough on the outside. This restaurant is very nice, clean and comfortable inside. I frequent here often for lunch and appreciate the really fast service. Like many other Asian run businesses, the service can feel rushed and very direct. But I appreciate the style as it is really efficient and I get what I want quickly without all the pointless chit-chat. Don't get me wrong though everyone is very nice and the service is great. It's just a little different style than many Americans are used to. If you do have a question they are more than happy to help and will not rush you out of your table if you come with a large group and want to enjoy each other's company for a while. Located right next to a 99 cent store and in a part of San Marcos I've never been too before...previous reviews are accurate, the outside looks a bit rough but once you step inside it's very clean and pretty standard (decorating-wise) to other pho places I've dined at. I came here after work on a Wednesday to curb my pho craving and get rid of a cold. I was greeted immediately by a male employee and he told me I could sit wherever I want. It's pretty big inside, there are plenty of booths and chairs to choose from. I opted for the #33 vegetarian tofu pho. I was happy to hear that it was a true vegetarian dish, made with actual vegetable broth (YAY!!!) and not fish or beef stock. Granted the restaurant wasn't extremely busy, but my order was cooked and brought out swiftly. For a "small", the bowl is HUGE and a bargain for $7 - I couldn't even finish the whole thing. The broth was hot, but honestly a bit on the bland side compared to other vegetarian pho I've eated. Nothing sriracha couldn't fix though. And they don't skimp out on the garnishes! I'm giving 4 stars but should probably give 5, I just had one of the best lunches I can remember for a long time! I usually get the pho noodle soup but today I overheard some other customers order the rice dish with porch chop so I said what the heck, I'll make it easy on whoever is preparing the food and ill order the same. To my delight came out one of the best tasting porch chops I've ever eaten...pure heaven! I was thinking about licking my plate. I think it's like #44 or #48 on the menu, not 100% sure. Also this restaurant is really clean, even the men's room seemed unusually clean and I love that because it means the kitchen is likely clean, too. My water even came with a lime in it, hard to beat this place. I will always stop to eat here when passing by on a work day. Omg so so good read more

I think it should be "Pho 4 a Queen," but I think they had difficulties with the English language when they were setting this up (sorry for sounding politically incorrect. I'm Asian, if that makes you guys feel better.) I've ordered a lot off their menu and it's all so good. One item I keep ordering off their menu is the "Bánh xèo" (Vietnamese crepe). It's true. Great pho, great price. I usually get pho tai or pho ga. Recently, been getting pho ga more frequently. Both are great here. After trying several Pho places, this one is definitely worth driving to! The soup is always consistent, fresh and so tasty! The broth itself is really good. While searching for a new place to eat around the area, we found Pho 4 Queen on yelp. It's located in a not-so-great looking shopping plaza, but when you walk in the decor is really nice (open, spacious and CLEAN! - must be fairly new). It was empty other than another couple dining, but we were promptly greeted seconds after walking in. Looking through the menu, the prices seemed a bit cheaper (yay) than the other Viet place the bf and I usually go to. I noticed they also had a section for different kinds of banh xeo (something that I don't see often in other Viet restaurants or I just never noticed before). We both ordered a Bun (his came with egg rolls and grilled pork and mine had chicken, pork and shrimp). Portions were quite large and quality was good, so we definitely got our money's worth. Good food and fast efficient service! We walked in and there was only one server with several tables but he sat us right away and kindly cleaned a booth without us asking and promptly moved us there! I came in for lunch a little bit before 11am. It was just one other customer besides me. Restaurant was clean and service was prompt. I ordered spring rolls and the house special pho. I don't like certain veggies and asked them to be omitted. My food came out as I ordered. And I was busy doing stuff on my phone and keeping to myself, so the waiter left me alone. But he was always within hearing distance so I could easily ask for anything. Thank goodness, cause when waiters keep stopping by my table, it makes me feel rushed and I don't like that. The spring rolls were freshly made. Not like some places where the vermicelli noodles sit for who knows how long and becomes all hard and chewy. The peanut sauce was delicious! The house special pho- it was almost as good as my mom's home cooked pho! The broth was perfect. The pho was slightly undercooked. They probably thought it would get too soggy in the hot broth so they undercooked it to have it finish cooking when it was sitting to wait to be brought out to me. Overall, good service, good food. Monday, 3/7/16, around 6 pm on a cold stormy night. Stormy is an exaggeration, but you get my drift. I'd also like to add that I've been sick with a cold. This hit the spot for the weather and to help ail my cold, at least it felt like it. Started with crispy egg rolls. Standard with side of lettuce and pickled veggies and fresh herbs. I am biased when it comes to Vietnamese restaurants because I have my favorite spring rolls on Convoy, but these met my need at the time. Hubby and I both ordered small bowls of #11 which is "everything", but I requested no tripe. The sriracha, chilli sauce, and hoisin on table as needed and plate of the herbs, jalepeno, sprouts, and lime were served per usual. I had to separate the noodles as they were one big clump at the bottom of the bowl. I was surprised at how rare the rare steak was because typically the steak slices are semi-cooked by the time I get my bowl at other places. These stayed nice and pink while I started eating and eventually cooked as the meal progressed (which I originally imagined should occur when offered "rare steak"). I think the difference was that these pieces were a bit thicker than usual pho places. I approved. The restaurant is kind of a "hole in the wall" spot in a strip mall on Rancho Santa Fe next to our favorite philly cheese steak place. Booths along both walls and tables in the middle. It was dark to start, but the one lady server apologized and turned more lights on. She was very sweet and apologetic. We honestly didn't realize it was that dark, but she pointed it out. With that said, it was just her taking orders. I believe one lady from the back came to bring our bowls of soup. Other yelpers mentioned a cranky man server and I was ready to deal with it for the pho, but we didn't get to meet him.. I don't come to pho places for the service. Come on now. read more

This place makes some of the most authentic Vietnamese food I've had outside of Vietnam. The pho is incredibly flavorful and the rice/noodle dishes never disappoint. Don't be afraid to explore the menu. They have some really unique dishes that other local spots don't think non-Vietnamese people would enjoy, but they'd be wrong! Wouldn't suggest. I go to pho San Marcos on a regular basis, without any issues there. After seeing decent reviews about Pho 4 Queen, I thought I'd give it a try. Place was empty and it took the person working a few minutes to even realize I was there since he was on his phone. Soup wasn't horrible, but what was horrible was the big disgusting fly I found in it. I asked them to replace my bowl with an order of egg rolls(which I was charged full price for) and they did and apologized about the fly. The egg were extremely greasy with a foul odor coming from them, very foul. I felt as if I should've gotten my "meal" for free. Wasn't impressed at all.
