This is a great place to get a nice bowl of pho. There menu is extensive with lots of other choices as well. The pho ga has all white meat chicken and the pho tom has high quality, deveined shrimp. The restaurant itself is clean and modern. Do be fooled by the strip mall location. Hubby had the deep fried squid which was accompanied by steam rice. How have I missed coming here for the last 3 years?! This place is in my neighborhood and I always shop for great deals in this shopping center, but have totally passed up this Vietnamese gem for too long. Never again! I decided to get some pho here for the first time after my shopping and what an amazing discovery! Don't let this small space fool you! I ordered the small, house special and a second dish of their carmelized pork ribs and rice to taste and take home for lunch the next day. I have to say, the pho and the rib plate was more than DELICIOUS and gave me the warm and fuzzies! Portion of meat was generous, broth was especially tasty and all veggies were crisp and fresh. The ribs tasted like they were braised for several hours, so tender and so yummy and bursted with flavor! Even the white rice was better than most places. The restaurant however, was empty for a Saturday evening and surprisingly, inexpensive. The nice, young gentleman who took my order was cheerful, polite and answered all of my questions about their exotic menu (frog legs, snail, quail, deer and wild boar dishes). Can't wait to try some of the other dishes they offer! I read some of the other reviews and feel that maybe they got a bad rap for their customer service? I don't care! The food is so worth it and I was treated just fine. No complaints. I normally go to the other pho and bahn mi place up the street, pay more $ and TOTALLY lack the flavor I had been hoping to get with Vietnamese food. We actually travel farther to come here for Vietnamese food. There is another Vietnamese restaurant closer to our home but the food is not as good as Pho 4 Queen. The soup is usually delicious and the fried rice prepared with good flavor. The issue that we had was we walked into the restaurant & only one other table was occupied. We picked a table where we could watch one of the TV's but it was not clean. The waiter was cleaning a near by table and we asked "could clean our table please", he already had a cleaning cloth in his hand because he just cleaned another table. He responded "You can choose another table" and walked away! Was I asking too much? Or could the service have been more courteous? Well then he brings my wife the incorrect order but he eventually gets it correct. read more

The food here has always been pretty good, the service has always been okay. I'm not sure if they changed their management recently, but today the service was horrible. 1. No welcome hello upon entering. We assumed we needed to seat ourselves. 2. When I ordered the hot Vietnamese Coffee, he said they didn't have anymore even though it was still on the menu. It should've been mentioned somewhere. He insisted I get the cold Vietnamese Coffee instead. 3. He did not come by our table one time, not even to refill our water. 4. After walking to the counter to pay, he just gave me the receipt to sign and immediately walked away to get himself a glass of water. I didn't even have a chance to get my own copy of the receipt. The one good experience my family and I had coming today was the friendly server from the back who delivered our food. Anyways, if I want good Vietnamese food, I'd rather much take the drive to Rancho Bernardo or Mira Mesa for delicious food and better service. read more

Ambiance: Spacious, roomy, expansive. The dining area is one big open room. The shrine altar thing with dragon fruit offerings was some fetching glamor. Friendliness of service: No Queen's English here at Pho 4 Queen. I think the server must have misunderstood what I said while ordering because one of the items was wrong. Time to get order: Standard for carry out. About 10-15 minutes. Was given a water with lime while waiting. A nice change from lemon. Quality of food: While tasteful and enjoyable, it ended up literally making me sick. I remember I had been out and about running errands for 3 hours when I stopped here for lunch. I thought maybe I just caught something from somewhere. But I exhibited symptoms IMMEDIATELY after I finished eating. The pork could've been undercooked. I recall I ended up being sick for a full 2 weeks because I really hadn't been sick like that in years. Whether it was the food or a virus going around, I won't be giving this place a second chance anytime soon. The Queen won't rule this subject. Side note: The rice paper that came with the meal looked and felt like plastic sheets. I didn't know at the time that you have to dip them in water in order to get them to turn into the rubbery stuff spring rolls are wrapped in. read more

I liked it and my mom's very first experience with pho. This day we ordered the meatball pho and the chicken and rice plate to split. I loved the broth but won't get meatballs next time. No seasoning to them, and been boiled to cook. The chicken was grilled thigh and phenomenal. The service was 4 stars because he never checked on us again after serving but since we were the only ones in there I would just holler out to him when a refill or the bill. My go to Pho. This little place is a hidden gem in a run down shopping mall. I've been going here for o we 10 years. Always fresh and delish. Their pho has a great flavor. These past couple of weeks of just gloomy rainy days was perfect for Pho. So while in San Marcos looked it up on Yelp and I was impressed. I ordered rate steak Pho. It was very tasty and pipping hot which is a contradiction to what I read on some of their past reviews. The ratio of noodles to meat was perfect! My husband's beef plate was surprisingly a larger entree serving than the average Vietnamese restaurant. Grilled beef was seasoned well and very tender. That right there alone-we were sold! Customer service was friendly and attentive. Pricing is average. They serve traditional dishes and some exotic too like quail and deer. Not sure if I'd ever venture in that part of the menu but hoping one day if I'm brave enough I just might have to try it :) for now I'll stick to to just Pho at Pho 4 Queen. Their Bánh xèo (Vietnamese savory fried pancake made of rice flour, water, turmeric powder, stuffed with slivers of fatty pork, shrimp, diced green onion, and bean sprouts) is as good as it gets. I usually order that and have my friend order their Ph because going there without having some of that delicious broth is a travesty. I am definitely a fan! Hope they stay in business! Don't let the location fool you! Food was good and cheap (something like $6 per dish). Place was super clean and nice! Service was excellent! The waitress spoke good English! (that was a first!). Bathroom was immaculate! The egg rolls we got for everybody were excellent - one of the best ones I've had. My little one and I got chicken pho.We got a small one for my daughter and a large one for me. The woman brought one of them and I thought that was the large one. That thing was huge! But she sure put it in front of our little one and said "here is the small one". Ummm... you've got to be kidding me?! This was the small one!? Now you got me curious! Then she brought a bowl that could feed a family and put it in front of me "Here ma'am, this is the large one". Mamma Mia! That thing was HUMONGOUS!!! Who can even eat that?! It was good though. I've had better but it was definitely good! I put a dent in it. My husband got the beef pho and swore it was "the best ever". I guess he really liked it because he inhaled that whole humongous portion! I guess it was doable! I was going to recommend getting the small ones since they were huge but after my bigger half devoured that thing - I better keep my mouth shut. Overall the place is a winner!
