Griller Mince Pork and Pork Slices

I stopped by Pho 68 recently feeling the need to get my fill of Vietnamese food. Located next to King Georgr Station, it's in quite a convenient location along with plenty of space for customers. The menu is your standard fare of pho and rice/vermicelli dishes. I tried the grilled meat and meat slices vermicelli dish. The meat was decent and flavoured well. I didn't think the vermicelli and salad was great. It felt like it was underflavoured. I'm not sure if that was the intent and if I needed to add more fish sauce. I thought combined the dish was fine. Service was okay. There were only 2 servers when I visited but it wasn't so busy that they couldn't handle things. I didn't think there was anything bad about my visit. I would probably come back if I was in the area.

My new favourite vietnamese spot in Surrey Central/King George area. The ambience is very nice and the place is very clean. Service is also prompt and staff are very friendly. highly recommend the satay pho and rice plates especially the grilled pork chops!

    Deep fried squid

I really wanted to like it here since it's so close to me, but the food was just okay. I got a beef brisket pho and deep fried squid to share with my partner. The deep fried squid made me feel really sad. The batter was bland and the squid wasn't tender enough for my soft mouth. I almost gave up on eating this dish. The pho wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. There are better pho restaurants in Surrey you could go to instead. One pro to this pho is that they give you lots of meat, which is very welcome. However, the broth had no depth and lacked a lot of the nuance in flavour I like in my pho. Service was great though and the inside is very modern, clean, and casual. Con of the menu it's only in English.

Large #1 Special Pho with Salad Roll

Came on a Sunday with large group of friends. I've been to this location a few times now. Usually I order the house special pho and it's pretty good and worth it. I ordered the special beef rib pho this and a taro slush this time. The beef rib pho was ok. The tarp slush was something I'm never ordering again. It literally tasted like melted vanilla ice cream. The straw it comes with is pretty horrible too. I wasn't even finished half the drink and it already was turning into mush; making it harder to drink. My friend ordered a lemongrass chicken vermicelli dish. It was pretty big. The thing that he didn't enjoy was that it tasted and resembled tandoori chicken, it was bright red/orange; something you wouldn't regularly find at a typical Vietnamese restaurant. The other thing I noticed was it was quite limited on the menu. Rice and vermicelli dishes don't really have a combo/variety of meats to mix and match like you usually get at a normal Vietnamese restaurant. Not sure what it was about this time, maybe it was the large group we were with (~18 people), but the service was almost nonexistent. Half the table got to order there food, and the other half was ignored. It was almost like the tables were split in half, which they weren't. It was just annoying how they didn't even bother to check on us once, despite us sitting right in front of their drink booth. We had to wait a bit to even get a single refill of water; in which case they just left a pitcher with us. The customer service here definitely needs work. Menu wise, they could use a bit more variety, and the drinks should resemble and taste like what they are labelled as. This place is definitely hit or miss depending on the day you go. The times I've sat on the left side of the room were great. Sitting in front of the drink counter (right side) and you're big table is completely ignored.

a black plate with a roll and a bowl of noodles

We were excited to try a new Vietnamese restaurant in the area. This is definitely one of the more fancy looking restaurants we have been to recently for Vietnamese food. Ambiance is nice with a reasonably priced menu. We ordered a house special pho, a kids pho meal and a vermicelli bowl. Food arrived fairly quickly. Portion size was good. I could not finish my vermicelli bowl. The chicken was nicely marinated. The spring rolls had a flavourful filling although I prefer spring rolls made with rice paper over the wheat wrapper. It seems like a lost art these days as very few restaurants use the rice wrapper. The veggies were fresh and plentiful. Lastly, there was a decent amount of noodles. I took a sip of the pho broth and it was alright. Both the house special and the kids pho meals had a decent amount of noodles and meat cuts. The iced Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk was solid and made just how I expect it. The service was great. Staff checked up on us regularly to refill water. The only downside is the parking situation. This restaurant is located at King George Hub and parking is starting at $4.25 for two hours. The parking management had recently removed the free one hour option unfortunately.

Then you get sick after and life kinda sucks. The question then becomes where do you eat next to recover. My instant thought to try and remedy my situation was a nice hot bowl of pho. There's the whole warm soupy factor that helps people recover. Then there's also the part where it's a sizable meal to make up for the situation. On a recommendation, I found my way to Pho Tam as a result. Right off the bat, I don't think it's the best bowl of pho I've ever had. It was a very good one that helped satisfy my craving of pho. It didn't feel heavy or too overly seasoned at all. It felt like the exact baseline taste you would expect from pho and it did that well. It was also quite plentiful when you go for the large size. Lots of noodles and protein in the order, along with a generous serving of bean sprouts to throw in. I ordered a salad roll as an extra add on and it was quite satisfactory as well. Overall, I was quite happy to satisfy my pho craving at Pho Tam. It was a satisfying and filling meal, and it met my rough expectations as a recommendation from a friend. I will do the same now and recommend Pho Tam to others in search of a nice warm bowl of pho.

It's nice to order while I'm there, as the people are so friendly and it's nice to chat while my food or drinks are being prepared. They have excellent juice and smoothie options as well as Vietnamese coffee. They bake their bread and Kouign Amann pastries fresh every day which makes all the difference. I'm glad to have this place as a lunch option when I go to the office. In fact, my company will also order sandwiches from Minh when we have a special event or something at the office. As an avid coffee person, I really appreciated that. I'll definitely revisit to try some other items. The shop was also really clean with lots of seating.
