t was my first time at Pho 85, and I'm so glad I tried it! The food was delicious. The broth in the combo with fresh noodles had so much flavor, and the portion was very generous. The restaurant is clean, cute, and welcoming. The service was excellent and very fast, which made the experience even better. I definitely recommend Pho 85 to my friends, and I'll be coming back to try some of the other dishes. Can't wait!

Grilled pork and egg roll vermicelli

Good pho and solid vermicelli bowls. Service is quick and parking is easy. We had filet mignon pho - dark broth, heavy clove scent and flavor, lean delicious beef. Good portion of rice noodles. The clove flavor was a little heavy but we got used to it. The broth excelled after adding some heat from the jalapeños and sriracha, along with some hoisin. The vermicelli bowl was a large portion and had all the typical fixings except mint, which I missed. The egg rolls were crisp and savory. The pork was a little smoky flavored but not as good as other places. It seems like the pork was breaded and/or deep fried. The nuoc cham (fish sauce) is a little too sweet and needs a bit more lime juice. The Thai iced tea is excellent. You can get it with or without boba. Strong on tea flavor... great if you like that. Single, all-gender bathroom.

I visited Pho 85 on August 7, 2026, and had a fantastic experience. I ordered the vegetable pho with fresh noodles, and it was absolutely delicious. The broth was incredibly flavorful, the noodles had the perfect consistency, and the tofu was perfectly crispy. Everything came together for a comforting and satisfying meal. I honestly have no criticisms--everything about my visit was spot on. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed, making it a great place to enjoy a warm bowl of pho. I highly recommend Pho 85 if you're looking for top-notch pho with fresh ingredients.

New modern Vietnamese restaurant that opened a few months ago but their service and operations is horrendous. Came right at the beginning of a lunch rush and they only had 2 people working the outside. Store was starting to fill with orders and requests being forgotten or wrong. A group of people came in and cleaned their own table. Also no official waitlist as a customer that came earlier lost their seat to someone who just came in because he was waiting outside. The food was solid. I got the pho special #1 and the broth was clear and had a nice beef broth flavor. The fresh noodles were also good. The bun thit nuong had charred pork but it was dry and on the sweeter side. Veggies were fresh. They did get the order wrong and forgot the egg roll. Had to remind them and a hot egg roll came out later. Spring roll was decent sauce can be better. Service definitely needs to be improved. Waited long for food and drinks. Female server was sweet but they don't seem to be trained or have experience. She had trouble using the handheld machine while taking our order. Reviews here seem to be inflated due to them offering a free Thai tea for leaving Yelp review.

We were all pretty hungry and decided to stop by Pho 85 and highly Yelp recommended. It turned out to be exactly what we needed! We ordered the #1 Combination Pho with oxtail, and wow--it was absolutely delicious. The broth was rich, flavorful, and clearly simmered for hours, with deep beef flavor and fragrant spices. The oxtail was incredibly tender, and every bite was comforting and satisfying. We also ordered the avocado smoothie, and it was fantastic--creamy, fresh, and the perfect complement to the hot bowl of pho. The service was excellent from start to finish. Everyone was welcoming and attentive, and the restaurant has a modern, hip atmosphere that makes it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. Pho is one of Vietnam's most iconic dishes, traditionally made with a long-simmered broth, rice noodles, fresh herbs, and quality cuts of beef. Restaurants like Pho 85 continue that tradition by serving authentic Vietnamese comfort food in a warm, inviting setting. If you're looking for outstanding pho with a rich, flavorful broth, tender meats, excellent service, and a great atmosphere, I highly recommend Pho 85. We'll definitely be back. Cheers!

If I could give this place five extra stars, I absolutely would. We arrived around 2:00 PM for a late lunch, and the restaurant was packed. Despite how busy it was, the young waitress and young waiter did an incredible job running the show. They greeted us right away, took our order immediately and our food arrived surprisingly fast. While we were there, a difficult situation unfolded with another customer. He insisted on taking an entire table for four by himself. When the waitress politely suggested that he use a table for two instead, he became very aggressive. She handled the situation with remarkable professionalism, stayed calm, spoke respectfully and never let it turn into a scene. The young waiter was right there supporting her and together they handled the situation calmly and professionally. Watching them made me realize how challenging it can be to work in customer service. Not every customer is easy, but they both handled a stressful situation with grace, skill and professionalism. Extra stars to both of them for the outstanding service. They were an incredible team.

Very clean. The service was fast and friendly. We ordered the combination noodle salad and the combination pho soup. The chicken was very juicy. I'm not from the area, but definitely recommend. Everyone in my party was placed with their food.

Pho tai with beef balls & regular noodles
    Jenny Y.

One visit and it's already up there on my list. Ordered #3 pho tai (rare steak pho) and a side of beef balls with regular noodles. There's an option to get fresh noodles. Good broth - tasted clean and wasn't bland, salty or that oily. For the vegetable plate, they automatically cook the bean sprouts. It was 8:15pm and it's about 15 minutes away, so we were hesitant to go since they close at 9pm. Called to check and they said not a problem at all. A few others came in after us and got seated, and we saw others get turned away (because it was already past closing time). We didn't feel rushed at all - good customer service! Good space and well lit. Easy parking in the plaza. Totally satisfied with the pho and would definitely get again. They have other items on the menu that look good to try next time!

I really loved my experience at Pho 85! I came here with my partner for the first time, and the food was just so delicious! The chicken pho was flavorful, comforting, and tasted really fresh. The egg rolls were also crispy and so good! Everything came out hot and fresh, and we both really enjoyed our meal. Definitely a place I'd come back to. I'm already looking forward to having that chicken pho again!

2nd time here with my 9 yr old son and he absolutely loves pho. We get a large and share a bowl with him, he eats everything up. His regular will be a ube smoothie with boba everytime he visits. Will most likely be getting him his own bowl soon. They do have a child bowl option. Thank you for opening up a pho place closer to home that we don't need to travel so far for. Great location

$13.15 for a super dry and tasteless Vietnamese sandwich.
    Cyprus N.

I gave 2 stars for the nice waiter who took my To-go order but the food was not for me. I ordered a Vietnamese sandwich (Bánh mì thịt nguội) which tasted like a white sandwich that could be found at airport stores. It was $5 more expensive than Đức Hương và Thiên Hương sandwich. The French bread also was super hard and dry since it had no other fillings as traditional Vietnamese sandwich with pate, hot chili pepper, cilantro, or pickle daikon and carrot. I've not tried their "Phở" but I won't coming back any time soon with this bad experience.

Came here around 7:55 pm on a Friday with my girlfriend! PARKING: this restaurant is in a plaza so there was plenty of parking. PLACE: used to be where mochinut was so it is pretty small and there are a few booth tables and it isn't hugely spacious so it could get crowded quick if it is busy. SERVICE: only one or two servers on the floor so could take a little bit for your order to be taken but they were pretty accommodating and fast! FOOD & DRINK: Thai tea & mocha smoothie - Thai tea had very good flavor, my girlfriend wanted boba but they didn't have any at the moment; mocha smoothie tasted more like coffee but watered down. Special grilled shrimp, grilled pork, and egg roll - portions weren't huge as I expected but since a lot of meat came into the bowl I understand and also since it is for one person as well. Definitely could have used some more sauce than just a grilled flavor but overall solid, could have a choice between salad, vermicelli, or rice. Filet mignon rare steak pho - meat kind of tasted like every other pho but overall really good broth and I love to dip my meat in a variety of sauces but overall not bad for quality. A great pho place, 5 stars for good service but since it is their grand opening they had a raffle which was nice for every $20 spent you get a ticket.

Checked the new Pho spot in the South Bay. More and more spots keep popping up, so the competition in the area is getting tough. The pho here tasted great. I didn't feel heavy or bloated after. Everything was fresh. I wish they gave you more hoisin and sriracha sauce. The restaurant is small, so it may not be the best place for a large group. I will definitely be coming back soon.

There are other places I can go as backups, but when I want the complete bánh cuốn meal, this is the place to go. Food (5 stars) + The Đặc Biệt is still the #1 order here. It's a huge plate and you get a little bit of everything: the plain rice rolls with shrimp sprinkled on top, bánh cuốn stuffed with meat, pork roll, egg roll, and their crispy fried shrimp cake. Everything complements each other perfectly. + The rice rolls are soft and fresh, and I especially like the ones stuffed with meat. Pour their sweet and savory fish sauce all over it and add some of the red chili peppers if you want some heat. Excellent! + Their fried items are also what separates this place from some of the others. The egg roll is crispy and the fried shrimp cake actually has a nice big shrimp on there. Even the slightly steamed bean sprouts and herbs work perfectly with everything else on the plate. + This time I ordered the smaller plate with just the meat-filled bánh cuốn instead of the Đặc Biệt. It's around $15 and is actually the perfect amount for me where I'm full but not overly stuffed. However, for only a couple bucks more, I'd still recommend the Đặc Biệt. You just get so much more food! Service/Ambiance (3.5-4 stars) + Service is pretty standard for a Vietnamese restaurant. They're not constantly coming around to refill your water, but if you raise your hand or flag someone down, they'll come over and help you. Nobody is looking the other way pretending they didn't see you! + The restaurant itself is pretty small inside, but they have a much larger outdoor seating area. We came during lunch and didn't have to wait long. + I brought my dog Marley so we sat outside. It was a warm day but there was enough airflow that it was actually pretty comfortable. - One strange thing I've noticed during my last two visits: the water has a slight soapy taste. Maybe that's proof they do an excellent job washing their cups, but they could probably use an extra rinse! This time I just brought my own water. 4 years after my original 5-star review, nothing has really changed for me. I've had plenty of bánh cuốn around the Bay Area and this is still the place I compare everyone else to. The service and ambiance might only be around 3.5-4 stars, but I'm not coming here for fancy service. I'm coming for bánh cuốn, and the food is still 5 stars!

We've probably eaten here 50+ times with family and friends, and one thing I can say is that they are 100% consistent. We've never had a bad meal here. There's a great variety of Vietnamese dishes, so everyone can usually find something they like. The chả cá (fish) is one of their popular dishes and a favorite. They also have good chicken phở, broken rice, vermicelli noodles, spring rolls, roll-your-own options, and plenty of soups beyond phở. You can order individual dishes or share family-style, which makes it especially easy when coming with a group. It's very casual, family-friendly, quick, and straightforward--nothing fancy and probably not where I'd choose for a date night. But for a dependable meal with family or friends, it's a great spot. Kids like it, parents like it, and my mom likes it--which says a lot coming from an older Vietnamese person who knows her Vietnamese food! The staff is always efficient and nice, and after all these years, the food remains consistently good. The biggest downside is parking. The entire shopping center has become so busy with restaurants that finding a spot can be overwhelming, especially during peak hours. Also, keep in mind they do not take credit cards. Bring cash, or you can pay electronically through options such as Zelle/Venmo. Menu has a lot of items as well (e.g. pho, rice plates, etc), so there's something for everyone if you come with a big group! Our server was also really attentive and sweet -- he came by and asked if we wanted additional dishes/bowls since we were sharing food!

I promise... I'm not a hater. I'm really just telling it how it is. The quality has gone down over…read morethe years, while the prices keep going up. But I'll let y'all be the judge. Let's get into it. B1. Bánh Cuốn Tây Hô Đặc Biệt The only solid item on this combination plate was the ground pork floursheet. Soft texture, flavorful pork, and a good balance with the black fungus. The yam tempura and mung bean tempura, however, were pretty below average. No crunch, little to no flavor, and they tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. The ground shrimp floursheet was disappointing. There was barely any shrimp and mostly just flour sheet. I was sitting there wondering, "Where's the shrimp?!" The fermented pork roll was cool. It was definitely fermented because it had a strong, sour pork aftertaste. Not bad, though. T2. Cha Giờ Thịt Nướng This vermicelli bowl was not it. The pork had the classic lemongrass aftertaste, but it was very light. The texture was also dry, and the portion was pretty sad. It was essentially a salad with noodles, five pieces of pork, and 2 small egg rolls. Egg rolls were skip-worthy.. they barely had any filling. And don't even dare try their pho here either. Sources: Trust me. Yelpers, where are all the great Vietnamese restaurants at in SJ?!

It's not outstanding, but it's definitely enjoyable. Unfortunately, the service ruined the experience. As soon as I sat down, I hadn't even had a chance to look through the whole menu before the server kept touching my shoulder and repeatedly pressured me to order. I found it very rude and uncomfortable because I really don't like strangers touching me. The older lady did it to everyone in our table, and she didn't seem to realize she was making our entire group uncomfortable, and it affected our whole dining experience. So, would I come back? Absolutely not. One visit was more than enough. I'm not willing to deal with that kind of pushy service again.

The standout dish was the egg rolls. They arrived hot, golden brown, and perfectly crisp, with a satisfying crunch and a flavorful filling that made them the best part of the meal. The food, however, wasn't the reason for my rating. The restaurant's cleanliness left me concerned. I noticed cobwebs that appeared to have been hanging in place for a long time, along with dirt and grime collecting in corners throughout the dining room. Even the menus felt sticky, with a visible film of grease and small food particles still clinging to them. The faded print and worn condition made them look as though they hadn't been replaced in years. Those details created an impression of neglect that made it difficult to relax and enjoy the meal. With a thorough deep cleaning and some updated menus, this restaurant could create a much more welcoming dining experience. Until then, the cleanliness issues overshadow what was otherwise an average meal.
