t was my first time at Pho 85, and I'm so glad I tried it! The food was delicious. The broth in the combo with fresh noodles had so much flavor, and the portion was very generous. The restaurant is clean, cute, and welcoming. The service was excellent and very fast, which made the experience even better. I definitely recommend Pho 85 to my friends, and I'll be coming back to try some of the other dishes. Can't wait!
Uniqueness: Pretty standard for your typical Pho place that also serves dry dishes such as vermicelli with egg roll for example. Wait Time: [x][x][x][ ][ ] Food Quality: [x][x][x][x][ ] Service: [x][x][x][x][ ] Setting: [x][x][x][x][ ] Cost: [x][x][x][ ][ ] Recommendation? Any of the pho is good for Pho standards. Maybe just a little salty (or MSG?) as I got pretty thirsty afterwards. I know this place existed for a while, located in a somewhat empty outlet on Cottle Road so I finally decided to give Pho 85 a try. The place was moderately packed with people on a Sunday and they have plenty to offer from their menu. Pho, vermicelli noodles, rice dishes, all your standard Vietnamese dishes you'd see at a Vietnamese restaurant. I ordered one of the pho dishes but maybe it was a busy day but the wait time was pretty long at around 15-20 min. Once it finally arrived, the Pho was good and for ranking Pho compared to other pho spots you'd typically see in East side SJ, I'd give this a 4 out of 5 because if they put more anise in it, it would've been excellent. Cost of coming here was average to slightly high at around 14-15 dollars but if you want the Pho Dac Biet, it comes up to $20 which is pretty steep. I also noticed afterwards eating here, I was pretty thirsty afterwards. Overall, I'd have to say this place was alright. Nothing too spectacular that makes it stand out but if I had no other choice but to stick around this neighborhood for Pho, I would maybe come back here to try some more.
Good pho and solid vermicelli bowls. Service is quick and parking is easy. We had filet mignon pho - dark broth, heavy clove scent and flavor, lean delicious beef. Good portion of rice noodles. The clove flavor was a little heavy but we got used to it. The broth excelled after adding some heat from the jalapeños and sriracha, along with some hoisin. The vermicelli bowl was a large portion and had all the typical fixings except mint, which I missed. The egg rolls were crisp and savory. The pork was a little smoky flavored but not as good as other places. It seems like the pork was breaded and/or deep fried. The nuoc cham (fish sauce) is a little too sweet and needs a bit more lime juice. The Thai iced tea is excellent. You can get it with or without boba. Strong on tea flavor... great if you like that. Single, all-gender bathroom.
I visited Pho 85 on August 7, 2026, and had a fantastic experience. I ordered the vegetable pho with fresh noodles, and it was absolutely delicious. The broth was incredibly flavorful, the noodles had the perfect consistency, and the tofu was perfectly crispy. Everything came together for a comforting and satisfying meal. I honestly have no criticisms--everything about my visit was spot on. The service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxed, making it a great place to enjoy a warm bowl of pho. I highly recommend Pho 85 if you're looking for top-notch pho with fresh ingredients.
We were all pretty hungry and decided to stop by Pho 85 and highly Yelp recommended. It turned out to be exactly what we needed! We ordered the #1 Combination Pho with oxtail, and wow--it was absolutely delicious. The broth was rich, flavorful, and clearly simmered for hours, with deep beef flavor and fragrant spices. The oxtail was incredibly tender, and every bite was comforting and satisfying. We also ordered the avocado smoothie, and it was fantastic--creamy, fresh, and the perfect complement to the hot bowl of pho. The service was excellent from start to finish. Everyone was welcoming and attentive, and the restaurant has a modern, hip atmosphere that makes it a great place to relax and enjoy a meal. Pho is one of Vietnam's most iconic dishes, traditionally made with a long-simmered broth, rice noodles, fresh herbs, and quality cuts of beef. Restaurants like Pho 85 continue that tradition by serving authentic Vietnamese comfort food in a warm, inviting setting. New modern Vietnamese restaurant that opened a few months ago but their service and operations is horrendous. Came right at the beginning of a lunch rush and they only had 2 people working the outside. Store was starting to fill with orders and requests being forgotten or wrong. A group of people came in and cleaned their own table. Also no official waitlist as a customer that came earlier lost their seat to someone who just came in because he was waiting outside. The food was solid. I got the pho special #1 and the broth was clear and had a nice beef broth flavor. The fresh noodles were also good. The bun thit nuong had charred pork but it was dry and on the sweeter side. Veggies were fresh. They did get the order wrong and forgot the egg roll. Had to remind them and a hot egg roll came out later. Spring roll was decent sauce can be better. Service definitely needs to be improved. Waited long for food and drinks. Female server was sweet but they don't seem to be trained or have experience. She had trouble using the handheld machine while taking our order. Reviews here seem to be inflated due to them offering a free Thai tea for leaving Yelp review.
If I could give this place five extra stars, I absolutely would. We arrived around 2:00 PM for a late lunch, and the restaurant was packed. Despite how busy it was, the young waitress and young waiter did an incredible job running the show. They greeted us right away, took our order immediately and our food arrived surprisingly fast. While we were there, a difficult situation unfolded with another customer. He insisted on taking an entire table for four by himself. When the waitress politely suggested that he use a table for two instead, he became very aggressive. She handled the situation with remarkable professionalism, stayed calm, spoke respectfully and never let it turn into a scene. The young waiter was right there supporting her and together they handled the situation calmly and professionally. Watching them made me realize how challenging it can be to work in customer service. Not every customer is easy, but they both handled a stressful situation with grace, skill and professionalism. Extra stars to both of them for the outstanding service. They were an incredible team.
The food was such a banger that the phone didn't eat first this time. A true gem in the South Bay for all the Vietnamese food lovers.
Very clean. The service was fast and friendly. We ordered the combination noodle salad and the combination pho soup. The chicken was very juicy. I'm not from the area, but definitely recommend. Everyone in my party was placed with their food.
One visit and it's already up there on my list. Ordered #3 pho tai (rare steak pho) and a side of beef balls with regular noodles. There's an option to get fresh noodles. Good broth - tasted clean and wasn't bland, salty or that oily. For the vegetable plate, they automatically cook the bean sprouts. It was 8:15pm and it's about 15 minutes away, so we were hesitant to go since they close at 9pm. Called to check and they said not a problem at all. A few others came in after us and got seated, and we saw others get turned away (because it was already past closing time). We didn't feel rushed at all - good customer service! Good space and well lit. Easy parking in the plaza. Totally satisfied with the pho and would definitely get again. They have other items on the menu that look good to try next time!
2nd time here with my 9 yr old son and he absolutely loves pho. We get a large and share a bowl with him, he eats everything up. His regular will be a ube smoothie with boba everytime he visits. Will most likely be getting him his own bowl soon. They do have a child bowl option. Thank you for opening up a pho place closer to home that we don't need to travel so far for. Great location
Came here around 7:55 pm on a Friday with my girlfriend! PARKING: this restaurant is in a plaza so there was plenty of parking. PLACE: used to be where mochinut was so it is pretty small and there are a few booth tables and it isn't hugely spacious so it could get crowded quick if it is busy. SERVICE: only one or two servers on the floor so could take a little bit for your order to be taken but they were pretty accommodating and fast! FOOD & DRINK: Thai tea & mocha smoothie - Thai tea had very good flavor, my girlfriend wanted boba but they didn't have any at the moment; mocha smoothie tasted more like coffee but watered down. Special grilled shrimp, grilled pork, and egg roll - portions weren't huge as I expected but since a lot of meat came into the bowl I understand and also since it is for one person as well. Definitely could have used some more sauce than just a grilled flavor but overall solid, could have a choice between salad, vermicelli, or rice. Filet mignon rare steak pho - meat kind of tasted like every other pho but overall really good broth and I love to dip my meat in a variety of sauces but overall not bad for quality. A great pho place, 5 stars for good service but since it is their grand opening they had a raffle which was nice for every $20 spent you get a ticket.
Checked the new Pho spot in the South Bay. More and more spots keep popping up, so the competition in the area is getting tough. The pho here tasted great. I didn't feel heavy or bloated after. Everything was fresh. I wish they gave you more hoisin and sriracha sauce. The restaurant is small, so it may not be the best place for a large group. I will definitely be coming back soon.

The chicken wings are cooked perfectly! They are crispy with a little bit of a sweet and salty glaze. We ordered Spring Rolls, Pho combo, and Pork and Egg Roll vermicelli. A6: The Spring Rolls with shrimp were excellent and fresh. The rice paper wrappers were soft, making them one of the top 3 in town imo! No.1: The Pho combo was an absolute delight! It included ox tail, beef, and a flavorful soap. The beef was tender and juicy, while the ox tail added a unique and delicious element to the dish. A little bit pricey but worthy. No.34: The Pork and Egg Roll vermicelli was alright. The meat portion was smaller compared to other restaurants, and the pork and fried egg rolls were just okay. However, the vermicelli with vegetables was absolutely delicious! The sauce had a unique sweetness that set it apart from other vermicelli dishes. The brown sugar milk tea was made with fresh milk and was not too sweet, which was a nice touch. The Thai tea was average. They were free during the grand opening promo period. The restaurant was modern and clean, and I particularly enjoyed the paintings on the walls. read more

Been wanting to try this place out since good authentic Asian restaurants aren't as prevalent in this area. We came in around 5pm and it wasn't too busy. Very clean and modern vibes inside. We ordered a #4 and #14. Both came with a good amount of noodles and meat. The meat quality really stood out to us - they were good cuts and very tasty! I love that they have a nice well rounded menu. Our usual go to is Pho Teresa because it's right by our house, but we will also be coming back to Pho 85! Over all a great first experience. read more
Nice newer place that's super clean and bright! Nice artwork on the walls and looks very modern! Waitress greeted us right away and sat us. Super friendly and very attentive. The food was solid. The portion of the rice plate was lighter than what I'm accustomed to, but the flavor of the BBQ Lemongrass chicken was there. The beef stew was good, but doesn't have the depth of flavor that we're accustomed to, but it was good! The fried chicken appetizer was more up my wife's alley! The chicken itself was great! Fried really well all the way through! Light and not greasy at all! The sauce is up to the individual. I don't care for sauce, especially if it's sweet! My wife loved it! So if you love sweetly sauced wings, these are the ones! It's NOT super sweet at all! Don't want y'all thinkin' it was dipped in Kool Aide! lol But I, personally, don't care for sweet foods unless it's candy or a dessert. It's across the street from Kaiser! read more

The short rib is fine and size well. Soft and easy to ripped off from the bone. The other beef stew with bread is a little too overcooked and stiff and soup is not thick enough for dipping purposes, and the carrot is hard enough seems undercooked. read more
We had lunch here today forth first time. Pho 85 is located in the corner of Cottle and Beswick Dr. next door to China Delight. They took over the Mochinut spot that closed in January 2026. We walked in and went straight to their front counter. We were shown to a table and given menus. We hadn't been there for 3 minutes and we were asked for our order. My goodness lol , we just sat down and have never been here before. We told the young lady we needed more time. The inside looks exactly the same as Mochinut except for replacing the Mochinut sign, with a Pho 85 sign above the angel wings painting on the wall. They also painted over all the pained doughnuts except for one. They packed as many tables as they could in there, because the space is small, but it works. They did great filling that space. We were finally ready to order. The waitress came and we ordered the shrimp spring rolls for our appetizer without bean sprouts. My hubby ordered #36 the pork and grilled shrimp rice plate and I ordered the #31 the grilled pork, grilled shrimp and egg rolls with no bean sprouts in the salad. Our waitress had a look on her face like she was upset and didn't want to be there. When I reminded her, kindly, about no bean sprouts in any of our food, she just stared me down with a look of disgust. She also didn't write our order down. I had a feeling that things were going to go wrong because of that and I was right, unfortunately. Our shrimp spring rolls arrived first. They came out within 7 minutes. I noticed that there were no bean sprouts, yay! However, one of the shrimps in the roll had three dark black spots on it. And they were not small spots either. There was no way I was going to consume this and I was surprised that they served this to us like that. I got the attention of our waitress and her superior came by as well to look at it and apologized and said they would remake it. It took 10 minutes for the remade shrimp spring rolls to come out. And guess what? They filled it with bean sprouts. So here we go again. I had to tell their manager that I told our waitress that I can't have bean sprouts and that we can't eat this. She looked pretty pissed off but took it back to have it remade again. Finally after waiting 15 minutes. They brought out the new shrimp spring rolls and they were made right. They did, however, forget to put the crushed peanuts on our dipping sauce.....oh well. The shrimp spring rolls were just okay. They were very plain with just rice noodles and lettuce with shrimp halves. No cilantro, carrots or anything else. The peanut dipping sauce was good. We added some sriracha to it and that made it better. Our main dishes took over 30 minutes to arrive and both orderes were wrong. They gave my husband a pork and rice plate with no shrimp and with 2 egg rolls he didn't order. Then my order arrived and all I got was pork, 1 egg roll chopped up and plain lettuce with bean sprouts lol . I mean really? At this point the whole thing was just laughable. This is why it's critical to write a person's order down! We had to explain to them what the was wrong and that took awhile. Instead of leaving leaving my husband's plate and bring out some shrimp on the side for him, they took his whole plate away. What a waste. He could have at least started eating the pork and rice. I guess since he didn't order the egg rolls they didn't want him to eat them. They were already on the same plate. At least let him eat them since you messed up his order. I had to show them a picture of what I ordered and explain to them I only didn't want beans sprouts. I did want the pickled carrots, daikon radish and cucumbers on it. I wanted it just like the picture but with no bean sprouts. Finally our food came out correct but all the pork and shrimp were ice cold and overcooked to the point of having trouble chewing it. I have never experienced anything like this before. I have to say it was very frustrating and disappointing to say the least. There was one employee who apologized and was very sincere about it. She was very sweet and didn't charge us for the shrimp spring rolls, which was kind of her. I just can't justify coming back here. I think there needs some improvement with customer service. I also think they need a better system with taking down orders that will avoid repeated mistakes and wasted food because of those mistakes. And please don't serve cold food to your customers. Overall, a very bad lack of communication and understanding of what we ordered. Numerous mistakes with our food, because of not properly communicating to the kitchen. And the quality of the food was just not there. Dried up grilled pork and shrimp that is served cold is not acceptable. The white rice was also dried up and old. I hope they can learn from these mistakes and improve their business. read more

Finally a REALLY good Vietnamese restaurant in south San Jose!!! The pho is better than the other restaurants in the area (specifically 3 other ones near Cottle/Santa Teresa area). They also have Vietnamese sandwiches, rice plates and cold noodle salads. The oxtail combination pho is superb. Their sister store is Pho Duoi Bo in east side. I stopped by Pho 85 during their soft opening to take advantage of a special promo pho, and I was genuinely impressed. I ordered the beef pho with lean brisket, and the broth was absolutely incredible. It was rich, deeply flavorful, and one of the best broths I've had in a long time. It honestly ranks up there with one of my longtime favorites, Pho Ha Noi. The service was quick, friendly, and attentive, and everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. My friend and I left happy knowing we've found another solid spot for our pho fix in the South Bay. I'm already looking forward to coming back and trying more of their beef pho options. Saw this place on IG and saw they were having a grand opening deal for a bowl of pho. So when I had a free meal, I stopped by, on a weekend for a quick lunch. It wasn't very full when I arrived but was pretty busy when I left. They are located in a newish strip mall, with some other restaurants and other stores. Plenty of parking. I walked in and was greeted and handed a menu. I decided on the spring roll appetizers and the special - $12 for a bowl of brisket/flank pho. Where all bowls of pho are close to $20 a bowl nowadays, this is a steal. The spring rolls came out first. I think they had an option for pork or shrimp - I opted for shrimp. There were 4 half rolls, all with lettuce sticking out of them. I only had one, dipped in the peanut hoisin sauce. And then my pho arrived. It was a pretty big bowl, steaming and hot. Plenty of pieces of meat. Broth was flavorful - very star anise forward. Not too oily either. It was a solid bowl. I would have this again - but I like the dac biet version with all the things. Also I liked that one of the waiters brought me over a to-go container for my spring rolls before I even had to ask. I was only able to have a half of one, along with my pho and I was pretty stuffed. I also see they're having a short rib special right now so I might be back soon for that. They just had their grand opening so go check them out. read more

Chicken pho was so delicious!!! The broth was super flavorful and the noodles and chicken were perfect. Sometimes chicken tastes a little too chicken-ey, but not here. Thai tea was delicious and the perfect beverage to wash down my food with. I'm huge on good service, and the service here was impeccable! I will definitely be back again. read more

Been coming here a few times since we live nearby and food is delicious and so are the drinks. From the chicken wings, fried tofu and pho which all taste great. Service is good and quick and ambiance is pretty chill. I recommend their egg coffee and Thai tea. Glad to say we found a new place that's definitely worth visiting from time to time. read more
