Their vegetarian pho isn't vegetarian - it contains some sort of meat. As a long term vegetarian, this was disturbing.. made me very sick :(

This place was off to a shaky start since construction delayed its opening beyond its grand opening advertising. But after the glitches, we were thoroughly impressed! We're there weekly. Food is light, but very well flavored. Pho soups are wonderful, with very fresh ingredients. Prices are very reasonable. Although we prefer take-out, the staff makes sure to arrange food in an artistic manner, even if they're preparing it for a styrofoam box. They're quick to offer a beverage while waiting. The place is squeaky clean and enjoys the highest safety rating from our inspection agency. And, most importantly, the folks who run this place are extremely friendly. A great find! read more

Not very good pho... I was curious about this place and had to try it since it is right down the street from my parent's house. I was very disappointed, and so was my mom. We usually drive to Richardson to get our pho and we will still go to Richardson. If you want some really good pho, I highly recommend Pho Bac! read more

Pho Apple was a "let's try it," kind of place and boy are we glad we did. Started with the Shrimp Spring Rolls, perfect size and so good. Highly recommend for a light appetizer. I had the A1 Combination Pho, holy smokes was it good. Best Pho I have had in a long time and not expected. My significant other had the 17 the Steak Pho and she was equally impressed. I came by for lunch and my wife and I ordered fried rice, pho ga and egg roll. The egg roll comes out as does the rice, and I wait..... the waiter never comes back....finally a young lady comes by to ask if my wife wants a to go box. I ask where was my soup. She disappears and apologizes saying the waiter (who has never come back still) did not write it on the ticket and offers to make it to go for me. Well I just sat for half an hour watching someone else eat while my stomach growled. So I declined. No I paid the bill and left never to return. read more

Ok food, bad service. So I didn't see what I wanted in the poor descriptions of their menu so I tried to describe to the woman what I wanted. She seemed to understand but then brought me some slimy stuff and I told them that was the opposite what I asked for. They exchanged it for what my wife was having, but their whole demeanor changed. This had happened once before when we went there and the exact same situation occurred. Its hard enough to go to Asian restaurants where there is a language and understanding gap and know what is good and what is not. I am always patient and describe what I want, and most places if they get it wrong just fix it. This place the staff gets an attitude. A lot of yelling in another language and then sullen behavior by the staff. I won't be back a third time. read more

Stopped here for lunch since I was in the area running errands. Had pho with brisket. Came with the standard accompaniments - bean sprouts, cilantro, lime, jalapeno. The noodles were cooked properly, the meat was lean. But the broth was very bland - almost tasteless. I'm from Houston where there is a pretty substantial Vietnamese culture with awesome pho and Pho Apple definitely holds a spot in my taste buds for top Pho of all time. They have different broths for their beef and chicken. I got the filet with brisket pho and the it was absolutely amazing! My farther got the chicken pho that was delicious as well. Pho Apple is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Dallas. My husband and I eat here at least twice a week. I've tried many dishes here and have not been disappointed. My very favorite dish is the Pan Fried Noodle w/ Chicken. The veggi's in this dish are so fresh and crispy....yumm! The broth of the pho is flavorful. The vermicelli's are all good and so light & healthy...But leaves you full and satisfied. Love the egg rolls. Can't leave out the Chicken Spring Rolls...very good also. For me, the perfect bowl of pho begins with a great broth and ends with me ditching my spoon and chopsticks and drinking the last of it straight from the bowl. Something my wife tries to discourage because it embarrasses her. I held back tonight at Pho Apple, but only because kids were present and I didn't want to set a bad example. We ordered the Crispy Egg Roles as our app and large bowls of the Beef Eye of Round and Beef Eye of Round Brisket pho as our meals and shared a strawberry shake. The egg roles were perfect, served with lettuce, cilantro, other veggies, a sweet sauce and vermicelli noodles. We like eating them "Vietnamese" style by wrapping the egg roles, noodles and veggies in the lettuce and eating them like burritos while dipping them in the sauce. It's messy, but worth it. Now on to the bowls, which were huge. Pho Apple offers XL portions for $1 more, but you'll need a serious hunger just to finish the large portion. Our noodle bowls were served piping hot and were delicious on their own, but we love adding the fresh Thai basil, bean sprouts, jalapeno, lime juice and of course hot chili and hoisin sauces to the mix. The strawberry shake, which was made with real strawberries instead of syrup was also delicious and was the perfect healthy sweet end to our dinner. The service was great and I thought it was a nice touch having the chef bring our food out himself. We'll definitely be back. read more

Last week I was in Dallas on business and on the mend from a really nasty cold so I just had to get me some Pho Ga. I found Pho Apple on Yelp and was looking forward to it based on the reviews, even though they serve sushi which normally would be a huge red flag for me and I wouldn't even give them a shot. However, I'm rarely disappointed when it comes to Yelp. This is one of those times. I cannot believe the disconnect versus what I was expecting and what I received. I so wanted to love this place! I give them credit for trying; the staff was very friendly, the service was quick and attentive, the atmosphere inviting, and the restaurant was very, very clean which is a big deal to me. However, I now understand why it was so easy to get a table at 12:30 pm on a Wednesday. I know there is a huge Vietnamese population in Dallas so I couldn't believe the product I received based on all the Yelp reviews. Honestly, I just don't get it. The veggie plate was the saddest thing I have ever seen in a Vietnamese restaurant. The Thai basil (one stem!) was wilted and small and begging to just be thrown away. The bean sprouts (all five of them) shouldn't have even made it onto the plate. There were two lame slices of jalapenos and even those weren't fresh... I should have taken pictures because for some reason they put huge, uneven slices of red onions in their Pho along with about two whole green onions. Red onions?? Come on now... I've never seen the like!! The chicken itself was good, it was not super dry like some places and the broth was clean and tasty but I cannot overlook the sad state of affairs that their vegetable plate was in when it arrived to my table; it should have never made it through the pass. My colleagues got the egg roll plate and beef stew and they were content with it (neither are Pho aficionados like I am). I realize that I am a harsh critic because my wife and are "Phonatics" but the Dallas yelpers really let me down on this one. This place is not deserving of more than 2 stars and fellow yelpers out there trust your gut because there's no reason at all to sell sushi if the name of your restaurant starts with "Pho"... That just shows how bi-polar you are and chances are you'll do neither of them properly... I didn't dare try the sushi but I can imagine what the experience would be like. Please put more focus into the quality of your ingredients. read more

Tried this place based on other Yelp reviewers. Thanks for the tip. Went with my husband and 3 sons. With two teenagers and a 4th grader who is fairly selective, it's hard to make 5 people happy. Everyone liked their food - a minor miracle. The lemongrass beef #82 was awesome; I had it "medium" because I was apprehensive about the heat level. It was about right for me (spicy, but my tongue was not on fire), but if you can handle really spicy, you could ask for more heat. Pho #17 was good, teriyaki chicken #50 made my youngest happy, stir fry noodle with chicken #83 was mild and flavorful, and the bun with pork #70 was excellent. My husband loves Pho Pasteur 2 at Josey and Beltline, and he commented that we don't have to drive so far any more - a good review all by itself. The fresh-squeezed limeade was a hit with my teenager. Service was friendly and attentive. They were not busy on a Wednesday, but seemed to do a decent amount of takeout business as well. read more

If you see a 1 star it was probably them.
