Grateful for my friends telling me about this place. It's a True hole in the wall that was worth the drive! I've been craving for my mom's cooking, specifically ca kho and canh chua. OMG they had it at this restaurant, and it was so good. They have many traditional dishes that my mom made for us in the past, so we'll have to come back. Service was great! I never knew this establishment existed and I see why, bc it's located in the very back of the strip mall next to CVS and Jack In The Box. It's so easy to overlook for sure. I've decided on spicy shrimp cakes(delicious), curry rice noodles soup with shrimp(very tasty)and Vietnamese ice coffee with ice cream and whip cream(so good). PB ordered summer rolls with shrimp(grilled shrimp), beef pho and he really liked the spicy shrimp cakes, he finished them for me. He also ordered lemonade(refreshing)and chocolate chip cookie. Our server was great. He didn't even write down our order and he got them right! Inside the restaurant was very spacious and airy. They sell Vietnamese rice puddings in different flavors(I've had them before in Hawaii. They're delicious). They also sell their own fish sauce which I had to purchase one. They have all sorts of cookies and shrimp chips(I love them)for sale. This restaurant will be our new "go to" Vietnamese restaurant from now on as we've been looking for one since one by our place has changed hands. I highly recommend it. We came here looking for nem nuong cuon and chao tom cuon in Plano, so we wouldn't have to drive to Garland for these. Service wise, we got our waters very quickly and our order came out within 5-10 minutes! We got the egg rolls (5) a la carte. They are 50 cents each if you buy them by themselves ($2.50 total) or you can order them from the menu with sauce and vegetables for $5. They tasted delicious and much like what I expected. The nem nuong cuon and chao tom cuon were both okay but did not taste as good as they used to be. The vegetables were not as fresh as they could have been but this might have been because we came in the afternoon. The rice paper was also kind of chewy which was unexpected. I preferred the chao tom cuon more and the sauce served with them is good. The meat and crispy egg roll wrapper inside are definitely the star of the show but I'm not sure if I'd get the spring rolls again. Overall, I'd want to come back and give this place another try since it is closer to home but I would explore some other menu items for sure! read more

I was excited about this place just by looking at the menu offerings prior to coming in for lunch since I was going to be in the area. I even came back again the following week driving from Fort Worth. They have so many options for seafood and vegetarian dishes with some being really unique. Not often do you find salmon fried rice, Vietnamese curry with shrimp, pho with grilled salmon, or turmeric fish spring rolls served at a restaurant. They even have pho with vegetarian broth. I will definitely try their pho when I can eat meat again because seafood or tofu pho just doesn't hit the same, but it's nice to have that option. I definitely have my eye on the beef rib pho. For my first visit, I had the turmeric fish spring rolls. The rolls have the fried spring roll wrapper inside it and I loved the crunchy texture in each bite. The server asked if I wanted the dipping sauce to be spicy and I appreciated it being served with chopped Thai chili peppers. I shared the green papaya, mango, and apple salad w/ grilled shrimp. The salad had a lot of ingredients and textures. It was on the sweet side due to the fruits and very refreshing. Other dishes ordered was the chicken fried rice and Bo Luc Lac on a sizzling plate reminiscent of Bo Ne served with a baguette. On my second visit, I had to get the shrimp sausage spring rolls (chao tom cuon). I was kicking myself for not getting it the first time. Cravings satisfied! These rolls are just like the ones from Bistro B in Arlington. Same family? Even the dipping sauce is the same. We ordered a family meal (Dinner for 3 A) that consisted of lotus salad, crispy Cornish hen, sweet and sour catfish soup, catfish in caramelized fish sauce, and 3 small pudding. I can't get enough of their lotus salads, the caramelized fish sauce catfish was sweet and very peppery (not a bad thing), soup was more sweet than sour, can't comment on the Cornish hen, and we didn't get any pudding. I like that they have traditional Viet dishes you eat at home (thit kho trung, kho qua xao trung) along with modern, unique dishes you don't see at many places, and everything in between. They have buy 1 get 1 free banh mi although I will say the protein was sparse. The restaurant is spacious and clean. They even have patio seating. The two times I went for lunch on a Saturday the crowd was light. I hope they are busier at dinner time or during the week. Customer service was friendly on both visits. Overall, this place is good. The food is good, the staff is nice, and they always have Bob Ross playing on the TVs. They serve a full Vietnamese menu, playing all the hits like a Cheesecake Factory of Vietnamese delicacies. Hot take, I know. But like CF, everything is good...but not as great as if you specialized in one thing. (Yes I know that CF specializes in cheesecake.) Pricing is a little higher than you might find in the middle of Garland, but pretty on par with some of the more Americanized Vietnamese offerings. I like the grilled pork vermicelli, bahn xeo, and especially the bahn khot (pictured) which is like eating a delicious shrimpy salad with all of the fresh veggies. My wife, daughter, and I visited this spot and were very impressed. I am a Pho fanatic so I had been keeping my on this spot for months while they were completing construction. It's downtown, hidden away behind some buildings so if you are not a local you may have trouble finding it. We went in the the place and it was really unassuming.
