With a wife from Vietnam you eat a lot of Vietnamese food, in my case you cook it but there are times you want to experience someone else's passion. I liked what I felt at Pho Aroma. The pho is legit, though southern style, you can taste the bone in the broth not some concentrated salt cube. The meat is tender added just at the right time as to finish cooking through when the bowl arrives at the table. The other dishes are rich in flavor, I would recommend the bo luc lac when in a rice mood. Very fresh. I have yet to try the bun or banh xeo though they looked good. Only bummer was the banh my is almost $5 regardless. There are some items overt priced but over all not bad. read more

I would fight - literally throw up my fists and swing and bite and scratch - for the last bowl of Pho Aroma's tofu and veggie pho. And I would win. 2nd time was definitely not a charm. This time I tried their banh xeo and nem nuong goi cuon. I was so utterly disappointed with what I put in my mouth. The nem nuong had no flavor what so ever. I tried it with and without the sauce to see if there was flavor but bland was all I could taste. The banh xeo was not the greatest either. All bean sprouts and maybe 1 shrimp and a few pieces of pork. My friend talked me into giving this place another try because he liked it but I should have stuck with my gut feeling and went somewhere else. I will not be trying this for a 3rd time. read more

I had been hearing good things about this place from a co worker so a friend and I stopped by on a Thursday night for dinner. I ordered the Pho Chin Bo Vien (Brisket and Meatballs) and the Thit Goi Cuon (Spring rolls with meat) (only because the Nem Nuong Cuon was all out :[) The spring rolls were okay...they were filled with veggies and the little roll of egg roll wrapper added a really nice crunch. The peanut sauce was not very good which is, in my opinion, the most important part. I also might be biased because I make a really mean peanut sauce. The Pho was pretty standard and was very filling for a Small bowl. The broth was good and the noodles were fresh. I also appreciated that the bean sprouts were fresh because they can be hit and miss at other places. The decor is nice and the place is clean which sometimes isn't the case for other Vietnamese places. Pho Aroma is a nice safe choice for Vietnamese food. read more

This review is only for the pho. Five stars for the pho! Holy smokes - I LOVE this PHO. Seriously, loved it! The meat to noodle ratio was PERFECT and the broth was nice and flavorful. Often times I find myself adding a bunch of soy to even coax some flavor out of pho broth but not here - just a little hot sauce and I was all set. Just an FYI - the chicken pho comes in a beef broth. My dining companions had the veggie pho - which looked to be LOADED with veggies and tofu. we've been eating here for 2 years now (since we moved to seattle). this is a nice little neighborhood pho restaurant thats like literally right down the street from our house. i like it. service is usually quick and with a smile. they totally recognize us when we come in. i dont understand why people have issues with the owner... he is a really nice guy. honestly, it seems as though the people who wrote mean reviews about the owner are just real petty and ridiculous. i mean.. really? are you really going to argue about a .50 service charge? over .50 cents? please. everytime we eat there, the owner guy is always super nice and the staff are always super attentive. i dont understand why what kind of car he drives has anything to do with his business... ridiculous. anyway, their pho broth is very good. recently, i havnt been ordering pho. i have discovered their vegetarian dishes! my favorite is the bun chay. i always ask for extra mints =0) their lemon grass tofu rice dish is also very good. i have also ordered their banh mi before, too! i love it! they have so much variety here =0) overall, great service, clean restaurant, very friendly. i totally recommend to anyone who loves vietnamese food! this is also a great restaurant for vegetarians too! read more

Solid Vietnamese food in West Seattle. I come here fairly often since I live less than 10 minutes away. My favorite thing to get here are their grilled pork banh mi sandwiches. The marinated pork pairs well with all the fresh herbs and veggies. I've also had their pho, vermicelli bowls, and rice bowls. All are solid and taste great. My husband and I have lived down the road for 6 months and finally got around to coming here. This was my first time eating pho and it was delicious! The veggie broth had so much flavor and no fish oil. I can't tell you how many places have given me "vegetarian" dishes with fish oil in it. Gross. My hubby had something with rice, lots of meat, and a fried egg. It looked good and he ate it all so I'm guessing he enjoyed it. He has always told me he did not like pho but he tried mine and really liked it. Our service was really good. They forgot to bring us our drinks and when we mentioned it they were extremely apologetic even though we were not upset. The dining room is fairly small so I would not recommend coming with a large group. Last but not least... The "manage your children" sign. Honestly I looked this place up on Yelp and when I read about the sign it only made me want to try it more. I'm sorry to all the parents out there, but I cannot tell you how many meals I have had ruined by unruly children. I'm not talking about the ones that are just having a moment. Everyone is capable of that, not just children. I'm talking about the ones that run all over the place screaming and knocking things over while their parents carry on their conversations and ignore them. I'm not sure why those parents think their kids are more important than a dining room of paying customers, but they are not. This is a business. They are trying to make money, not cater to your little monsters. When I was growing up we were given a warning and if we could not behave one of my parents would take us to the car while the other one had the food boxed up and bill paid. They understood that we were their children and therefore not anyone else's problem. Plus we learned an immediate lesson about the consequences of our actions. First of all, I want to say that I have resisted having a Yelp account now for quite a few years, but this place is SO good I walked out determined to write them a good review. First, the location is perfect. If you live in that area you either have to drive up to the Junction or into White Center. There are Pho places that are good in either neighborhood, but it's a relief to have one so central to where my boyfriend lives. We ordered the fresh Shrimp rolls to start. They looked good, and had a unique and crunchy treat in the center. I never get fried egg rolls, so it was nice to have a taste of the fried bits I love without all the fat. I ordered #30 the grilled Lemongrass Tofu. I eat this often at other places, although sauteed. I usually know what to expect, tofu, onions and some cilantro. This came out browner that I had expected and clearly had more in it that onions. I was skeptical, but too my first bite and was a goner. Grilled perfectly, it had tofu, onions, mushrooms and the best surprise of all pineapple! It assaulted my taste buds, I couldn't stop shoveling it into my mouth....dreading the last bite. Every bit of it was fantastically delicious. The decor was cozy and warm...even the bathroom was cozy! If you haven't been, do yourself a favor and get there...pronto. if you have kids get take out - not kid friendly I asked for the booth so I could keep my toddler corralled next to me and was told I could have the booth but the child would HAVE to sit on the outside in a chair because kids got the booth dirty and he had paid for cleaning it twice already. Uhm yes you are a business owner and expenses like that happen also I am certain adults could stain the booth as well. Needless to say sitting her in the chair sucked and I wound up taking her for a walk while my husband had the food boxed. Upon re entry I saw the sign on the door stating if you can't control your kids they reserve the right to refuse service. Unfortunately, our last experience at Pho Aroma warrants dropping my rating from 5 stars to 3 (and that's generous--I think a 2.5 star rating would be more accurate). I was staying with my parents in Seattle when I got sick. My mom decided to call in an order of pho from Pho Aroma in the hopes it'd make me feel better. She tried calling their main line, but it kept going to voicemail even though it was a good two hours before closing. My dad decided to drive down to order in the restaurant and just wait for it to be ready. When he got there, he was informed the restaurant was out of a good chunk of ingredients for pho, including bean sprouts and brisket. Initially they said they didn't think they could make the pho, but eventually decided they found enough ingredients to make it. Again, this was about an hour and a half before closing, so it's strange they could be running so low on ingredients to begin with. After a substantial 45 minute wait, everything was finally ready. When he got home with the food, we tried the pho and it was average, at best. The broth seemed a lot saltier than the last time we had their pho. It almost tasted as if salty boxed/canned broth was exclusively used, with a couple other seasonings added. Of course, it was also disappointing not having the meat I ordered--I ordered the combination with two meats, but only got meatballs. The meatballs were quite tasty, but that's about all that can be said for this pho. Overall, our experience this time was very disappointing. OMGYUM! We tried this place for lunch with 2 kids (on a Friday). We're vegetarian and my husbad has kind of a lot of food allergy issues, so eating out can be a pain. Pho Aroma was excellent! The menu had a surprisingly large amount of vegetarian choices. We tried the Tofu Salad Roll (pretty good, surprising and yummy crunch to it), the Tofu Vermicelli Bowl (very tasty), the Tofu and Veggie Pho (very yummy, I shared this with my 4 year-old who loved it!) and a Vegetarian Banh Mi - which was outstanding! The bread was so fresh and crusty, the tofu was delicious, the veggies crisp and fresh and condiments were a perfect balance of creamy mayo and spicy hot sauce. Did I mention it's super affordable? We left stuffed for about $20+tip. So amazing. The only improvement I'd like to see is more frequent water service by the servers - sometimes you get a spicy bite, and you want some water NOW. Ate here a year and half ago and I ordered pork sandwich and a steak pho. The bread for the sandwich was so stale I told the waiter to take back the sandwich and not bring a replacement. So a year and a half later I go back and I order the same thing(pork sandwich &steak pho) and once again I get stale day old sandwich bread! WTF is wrong with these people? And why is there a price difference if you eat a Vietnamese sandwich here or to go! Never going back! Also, I don't think the owners are Vietnamese! This place adds to my angst over no longer living in West Seattle. They have amazing food and the friendliest staff around. I have not had their pho because they had so many other items on the menu that looked so delicious...but my very picky friend LOVES it and I plan to order the Pho next time. I had lunch there yesterday and had the opportunity to taste the egg rolls, the shrimp spring rolls (not sure what they're called) and the Lemongrass Beef Bun. All amazing, especially the egg rolls. We have also had take out with friends who are lucky enough to live just up the road (who get take out from them almost every time they don't cook at home) a couple times and everything is fresh and flavorful, but I'm not sure what everything I've had is called. We have moved to Fremont, far away from the universe of West Seattle. But after trying nearly every other vietnamese place around we still find ourselves wanting to drive back across the bridge to eat here. Still haven't found another place around with such fantastic flavor at the prices they charge. Delicious food! Shoot for an early lunch if you want bahn mi - they do run out on occasion. Luckily, if you miss a sandwich, there are tons of other tasty options. Love the BBQ pork, the eggrolls, and the noodle bowls. It's a nice, homey place. Unlike most pho joints, this actually feels like a restaurant, not a hole in a strip mall. Comfortable - not too big or too small. Lunchtime can get busy, but it's worth the wait. Great service - fast, friendly, and conscientious. Glasses stay full and they are serious about "take your whiny kids outside" - which is why I ALWAYS eat here if I'm nearby. I admit, I had low expectations coming here. The name, the location, and what I'd heard didn't sound too promising. Luckily, I took the advice of a couple other friends instead, and I ended up agreeing with their positive opinion. The place is decorated a bit randomly, but it's an open setup, lots of light, new and thus relatively clean. Not like the typical pho/Viet restaurant lol. Prices aren't bad, although the portions are a bit smaller to compensate. My friends ordered pho, and I ordered the combo rice dish. I only sampled a spoonful of the broth, but from that taste it seemed flavorful and as hot as it should be. The dish I ordered came with good quality meat, tasted great, and I love that it included a fried egg (which I usually have to add and pay extra for). Only complaint is that they only gave one scoop of rice, about 1/2 a bowl in size. Oh, and the young waitstaff was very friendly. Will be back for sure! read more

I love this kind of food and have tried too many places to list :) This one rates at the top of the list on quality!! I sure hope they don't change. A friend and I went there again Saturday - We ordered: Lemon grass chicken entree (absolutely dreamy!!) Curry Chicken entree - fantastic Pork chop and egg entree - YUMMY!!!! I like little family- run neighborhood places that are clean, easy to park or walk to, nice people serving you, and a tasty bbq plate. Told by the locals I went with, the sandwiches are really good and cheap and can get to go. When done, go over to the corner grocery store and say "hey" to Singh, nice man and buy something or discuss punjab history. Then two blocks west is a seven mile flat trail along Longfellow Creek. Last time I went to pick up some sandwiches I couldn't believe the sign about keeping your kids inline and they have the right to refuse. Thought it was odd because when ever I would bring my son in, one of the regular employees is always nice to him. I thought that was a very rude sign especially that youre telling people you can't keep up your bussiness, pretty much. If they are smart they will take that sign down and pretend it never happened, I know I will not be bringing my family here to sit and relax till i notice that sign gone. Oh Pho Aroma, we are so happy you have opened! We live 1 block away and stopped by for dinner tonight. It was delicious! My husband and I split the following dishes and were impressed with each one: Spicy Tofu Mango Salad, spicy and so good, Vietnamese crepe, and stir fry noodle with meat and vegetables. I thought we might need some to go containers but it was so good we ate every bite. Because it was their 2nd night open they did have some service issues, but they were very friendly and I think they'll have it worked out quickly. I love Pho. Trying this place for the first time, after reading a ton of reviews here, and I have to say that this place rocks! The Pho broth is hands down the best I have ever had. It is super flavorful and sets this place miles above many other Pho establishments. We also had the spring roll wraps and those were great. They add fried rice wrapper to the inside of the wrap to give it some crunch and it takes a yummy appetizer and makes it so much better! I will be back! read more

Stopped in a couple weeks ago and had the beef stew - it was delicious. I nagged a friend of mine to join me here because we've been sampling pho and bahn mi all over town looking for, "the best," since soup and sandwich is true American fare - no matter it's cultural origin!!! She had this tofu and mango dish (which I sampled), and I have to tell you people - I don't eat tofu, but this dish was amazing. You MUST venture to other of their offerings aside from pho. Friendly staff. Family-run. But unlike so many family-run businesses I don't get the impression nepotism is going to ruin this one. After reading through all the stellar reviews of this place and as I had been craving a new pho joint to get my fix, this place seemed worth the drive down to. I waltzed in and was seated immediately and no less than 5 min had a pot of hot tea and ice water with lime. I ordered up an appetizer of veggie wraps with came loaded, packed with lettuce which levels out to some veggie yum yum good!
