Lately we've been trying different pho places. Found ourselves in this one tonight. Close to where we live and across the street from ASU Thunderbird campus. Came in at about 6:30 on a Tuesday evening. They had a good amount of tables filled. Greeted immediately at the door and asked to seat ourselves at table 19. Directed us which way to go to it. As we were walking over to the table, our waitress also greeted us and pointed out the table for us. She brought menus over and after a few minutes brought water and took our order. I accidentally ordered the wrong pho. I wanted chicken but I got a beef one instead (I ordered the wrong number, totally my fault) . Hubby got the make your own pho with meatballs and beef in it. Thankfully she asked me if I wanted the lunch or dinner size. I went with lunch size and I'm glad I did. The dinner one, the size my hubby got, was HUGE. I would never have been able to eat it all in one setting (he did). Food came within minutes of our ordering. I mean within minutes. Less than 5 minutes. Steaming hot and steaming delicious! The beef broth was great and there was an abundance of meat and noodles in both our bowls. I barely finished mine. Service was great. Our waitress came back several times to check if we were doing good. The restaurant stayed moderately busy throughout our stay. Seems like a popular place. Prices very reasonably and they have some really interesting desserts. I never heard of Vietnamese snow dessert before but saw the server making one. I would love to try one sometime so we'll definitely be back again to do so! Restaurant was really clean too. Its in a strip mall with plenty of parking. read more

It has been a few years since I have been to Pho Avina but we happened to be in the area and I was hangry. We had a busy night so I called ahead to put in the order. We got the vermicelli noodles with chicken, shrimp and pork, Vietnamese rolls and an order of pork and shrimp spring rolls. Pickup was quick, we paid and grabbed our food and the guy at the front desk was really friendly. When we got home the rolls looked good and so did the vermicelli. The shrimp was delicious but the pork and chicken tasted like they had some kind of flour coating and was fatty and tasted like a lot of gristle. It's been a while since I've had it but I don't ever remember it tasting like that. Sadly it wasn't good. There were even pieces of pork that looked like they were not cooked all the way. Still pink. I was not sure so we didn't eat them. Maybe it was an off day but I will not get food to go again. Next time we will dine in and see how the good is and I'll update the review then. read more

Bland, huge unnecessary servings. I tried the Pho noodles w/ rib eye, flank, and brisket (lunch size). The first time the bowl arrived, the broth and presumptively noodles were warm but the meat was cold, ice cold. The service wasn't rude or anything, but not inviting in any way. To get some flavor, I used the hot sauce and a sauce that was undistributable whether it was supposed to be a teriyaki or hoisin sauce which helped some. I personally feel the amount of broth was twice as much as the dish needed/am used to with other dishes. There's much better options in the immediate vicinity excluding the Korean BBQ place in the same plaza. If one wants a half basketball size bowl of soup w/o distinctive flavor on the cheap, maybe it's the place for them. That's not me. read more

I was feeling under the weather and Pho seems to be my go to when this happens. Something about the broth just makes everything feel a little better. And Pho Avina DID NOT DISAPPOINT... I ordered the Pho with no meat. The broth was amazing and the bag of goodies they give you to add to the broth was filled to the top with fresh ingredients. It was a great sized portion and I luckily got to enjoy this Pho the next day as well. I also ordered the combo fried rice. All though it did not look super good when opening it up. The taste was by far out of this world. The best fried rice I ever had. Advice: Do not judge a book by its cover. read more

The food was very good however, it is important to have an eating out experience. The service was cold, careless, and abrupt. My child dropped a soda and this was seemed with huge negativity. We changed tables and from then on the service became highly distant. No napkins were given to us, no one checked in on us, and a refill was offered only at the end. Most of the negative attitude was from the female waitress. We had a bad experience with the female waitress not the male waiter. He seemed attentive and try to make up for his coworkers attitude. read more

Having moved to this side of town I remembered this place I use to frequent 15 years ago. Still has great food and service. The portions are very fair and they have great pho, spring rolls, and bahn mi. I highly recommend it if you are in the area!! read more

I was never really into pho but I tried their P10 order it's my perfect level of spice and I'm in love it's chefs kiss , and don't get me started on their spring rolls with the peanut sauce I dream of it and then to finish I always get the taro boba ! Walking into this establishment it appears to be very traditional. Which for me is amazing when it comes to having the ambiance Match the food. The staff was very friendly. Let us know we can sit where ever we would like. We sat down, the waiter waited just the right amount of time before asking if we were ready. I asked which item he preferred and what his recommendation would be. He recommended the P10 spicy beef soup. I would recommend having this it's delicious. It hit the spot for sure. Loved it here. Had the spring rolls with shrimp and that peanut sauce is delicious I had the ox tail pho and added tendon and steak. I think next time the ox tail is enough. They are very generous with the meat they put in the pho unlike other pho restaurants I've been to. The broth is amazing too! Just go. Pho Avina is easy to miss when you're driving by, but I highly recommend stopping in. What used to be my favorite little hole in the wall pho spot has now turned into everyone's favorite pho spot. They've been gaining so much traction (as they should) that they've been almost packed every time I stop in. No matter how busy they are, the service is always quick and pleasant, and you are never waiting for more than 10 minutes for your food to arrive. Let me start with the best part of the experience. The coconut snow with strawberries and chocolate drizzle was absolutely to die for! I would make the trip to this restaurant just to eat that again!! In all fairness, they were quite busy and our waitress was brand-new. However, we did have some very long wait times both for dinner and for the dessert. The food was very tasty, the servers were pleasant and concerned and the prices are very reasonable. If you're looking for the best pho in Phoenix, Pho Avina is the place. I come here every week or so and the service is always great. I get either the vegetable egg rolls or pork egg rolls to start. My favorite pho dish is the Meatball pho but the eye round steak is good as well. The soup always is very flavorful. If you come here you have to try their shaved snow. It's similar to ice cream but is very light and airy. It comes in different flavors such as Toro, Coconut, Mango, strawberry, coffee, and great tea with lots of topping and drizzle options. I wanted Pho on a cold rainy evening because I knew something warm and flavorful would soothe my soul. That's exactly what it did. I ordered a small iced Thai tea, shrimp spring rolls, and chicken and shrimp pho in a lunch sized portion. The Thai tea was really sweet. It didn't have much flavor and was just overpowered with sweetness. The shrimp springs rolls were very refreshing and fresh. The peanut sauce that came with it was also too sweet. Now for the pho, I believe the pho was perfectly balanced. It was not overpowering in the spice Star anise. I could taste it but it wasn't super strong like other places have been. This morning I saw a review for Pho Avina in the Republic.. well the Republic isn't always a reliable source but for me Ive been all about the Vietnamese fare. It just so happens this week I'm house sitting on the west side so decided to have an early dinner on my way out. What's funny is this place is right on the edge of my old stomping grounds. My elementary school is just a few blocks from there.. of course there were memories of my first kiss.. my first girlfriend.. none of which actually took place there but hey memories, cant control 'em. I decided that I was going to be hungry for a Vietnamese sandwich called Bahn Mi as well as a bowl of soup, pho. Got the sammie, the special with pork roll, cilantro, cucumber, jalapeo, pickled carrots and daikon on crusty French bread. This was very satisfying.. while not as great as Da Vang it held its own. I also ordered the Vietnamese style beef stew called Bun Bo Ko.. thick tender chunks of beef in a rich and complex broth served with cilantro, lime, bean sprouts and jalapeo along with vermicelli noodles. This was off the hook tasty! The flavors were sweet, savory, slightly spicy and YUM-E! The service is very friendly and welcoming. The interior won't win any design contests but here, its all about the food! They take plastic.. this is always an important aspect to me as I rarely carry cash.. read more

And on such occasions one of my favorite places is Pho Avina. They offer a good variety of soup and noodle dishes as well as a variety of sandwiches (banh mi). Their rice dishes are also great; my favorite is their Pho Avina rice plate with grilled beef, pork, and shrimp. While the range of offerings may not be as extensive as Pho Thanh's, it is definitely more than adequate. Finally a pho place that I like! I've been to too many other pho places but this one finally convinced me. I ordered a regular size pho with meatballs and added the chili sauce and some lemon on it and wow. Absolutely amazing. Not only is the food amazing but the service is also exceptional. This place is delicious! You get seated right away and you can place your order right away as well. Your food will come out quickly and consistently taste the same, yummy! The service is where it's lacking, if they just left a pitcher of water at every table they'd bed set. They do not come often and if they do its because you waived them down. I've been back a couple of times since my first review, and the results were much more positive. I found that if you order pho to go, you can ask them to package the meat separately, as long as you swear to cook it right away. I did so, and the pho was much tastier when prepared fresh. Another time, determined to branch out from pho, I ordered the special catfish. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of bottom feeders. They get that muddy flavor to them. But not this catfish! It tasted clean and fresh, and it had a light, crispy breading on it. The whole dish was fantastic. I also still adore their melon boba tea. I tried the taro one time, and it was OK. But melon is where it's at. My only criticism is that the boba pearls have a slightly gritty texture. read more

Wow! This place is great for the area. It's been hard to find a Pho place in North Phoenix that I really like and I finally did it. I went with the Egg Noodle soup which some would argue isn't true Pho but I say boo to that! The spring rolls were great as well. They weren't too sticky and had plenty of meat inside them. The service here was great as well, what nice people. The lunch crowd was huge but they still provided very quick service and were attentive on refilling my drink anytime it was empty. I love Pho Aviña! I went here and bought their large Pho bowl and even a gigantic shaved ice dessert and paid a good deal. The bowl was so large I had to share with my fiancé and we had trouble finishing it! The food was fantastic and the service was great.
