Completed an Uber Eats order here for a real early lunch. What I really liked about this spot was the presentation of the food. They already had the rice noodles and chicken in a prepped bowl. The only thing you have to do is pour the broth in the bowl. Convenience is key. Other pho places separate all the ingredients and you have to spend a few minutes literally putting a soup bowl together. The chicken was really tasty in the pho. Portions were perfect. Pho broth is not the best in SD (I'm Vietnamese and know my mom wouldn't approve broth because not enough anise/cinnamon) but my kids are happy because of consistency and variety of their favorite dishes and ingredients are fresh. Missing my bestie delicious homemade pho, I headed here for lunch. First of all, this restaurant is located close to a brewery and other shops. The restaurant wasn't busy and we were quickly seated. Our server was very attentive and helpful. I got really bad food poisoning about 6 hours after eating a delicious banh mi along with crispy egg rolls. According to everything I googled, food poisoning can set in between 2 hours up to about a week after ingesting tainted food so getting sick may not necessarily reflect the last meal you had. To be fair, it may not have been this restaurant that made me eliminate everything my body is made of for 8 hours straight but I still have a major taste aversion to this place and I can't stomach another try. I didn't call to talk to their management because I didn't feel like I could really pinpoint what made me sick even though I'm doing the CDC a statistical injustice. I just suffered in silence and made the decision not to patron here again. Fortunately, I haven't seen another review with my complaint so maybe what happened to me was a fluke. Either way, throwing up a banh mi with crispy rolls and fish sauce is not as tasty as swallowing. TLDR? This restaurant may or may not have given me food poisoning. I was not ready for a delicious pho place in Barrio Logan! I am super picky when it comes to pho, and this place blew my mind. The soup was fatty, but not overwhelmingly so, and I usually will add a lot of lime juice to my pho, but this place didn't need it. The chargrilled pork bahn mi was very good, with adequate pickled veggies and aioli to keep it from being dry, although the baguette was not super crispy or as large as K sandwiches, but the meat to bread ratio was better. Wow!! Thanks to my Yelp skills I found my family and I hella bomb pho and Vietnamese food. Sad to say this was better than all the Vietnamese food back home (SJ). The food here is fresh, large portion, and cheap. I think I want to move down here just for really good food. Can a girl just eat (good food)? So, the name of this is Pho Bo, which literally translates to beef soup/broth. I think only one of us ordered this. They said it tasted really good. I ordered the seafood dish with the thick flat noodles that was drenched in a little salty sauce (oyster sauce). I personally loved it. The sauce was a little thick, the veggies and seafood tasted fresh. The veggies were not overcooked and it had a crunch in each bite, how I usually like to eat my veggies. A little stir fried and to keep the texture crunchy so the veggies don't marinate too long in the sauce. Then the sauce becomes overpowering and the veggies become soggy and overly salty. My seafood dish had shrimp and squid (a lot of it) I had to give it away bc I was too full. I liked how they didn't skimp me off my shrimp, or veggies. We had more than enough food to satisfy our ever growing bellies. I think this is the first time that my whole family (7 of us) didn't complain, even the little man who is 6 years old, always has a hard time eating Vietnamese food scarfed his food down. I'm so happy I found this place it saved us a lot of time not worrying about food for the next hour, lol. Back to the food. The broth was very tasty. It did not taste like canned broth. It was in the middle of a sweet and savory broth. I really enjoyed the pho! They also give a good amount of noodles and meat for the regular sized bowl. The egg rolls were also good! It came with lettuce wraps and daikon radish. The pork was was quite tender and came sectioned into easy to eat portions. It was very tasty and picked of some essence of the grill. I loved their egg rolls. Their shell was crispy and their filling was great. I'm pretty sure it was ground pork, some vegetables, and glass noodles. The vermicelli noodles were properly cooked and served at the right temp. I loved that they added the slightly marinated scallions as a garnish. The Romain lettuce, bean sprouts, carrots, and chopped peanuts were all just grand. You know what else was just grand? The fish sauce they serve with this meal. It was light but flavorful. Service was outstanding and provided by "Vi." She was super friendly and a dear to chat with.
