Veggie P17. Vegetarian Noodle Soup (Phở Chay)

A solid, casual go-to spot for pho! Veggie option available. Service is pretty quick and there's indoor/outdoor seating. It is more costly when you ask for to-go orders (by like $2). Boyfriend always gets their beef broth pho and loves it. Says that the broth is very delicious and flavorful. Definitely hits the spot overall. Spring rolls are also good.

Delicious. If no one else got me, I know pho place got me. The last pho review I did, I mentioned wanting the thinly sliced steak to still be pink. This is what I was talking about. It's almost perfect. Overall, this joint is relatively generous with the meat also. A ton of brisket. I like the broth here more too. It's just a bit richer. More herbs also. I ordered a large, and it's an absurd amount of broth. I almost regret getting the lemonade soda. The place feels surprisingly trendy. I'll probably find a joint I like even more than this, but I think this is good enough for me to drop a *****.

Have been craving pho for a while now so decided to give Pho Bo a try. Gotta say, their food is solid. Started with their Cha Gio (egg rolls) which came with lettuce, herbs and of course nuac cham for dipping. Wrap a roll in lettuce and herbs and get to dunking. Crispy, savory, sweet all the things really, very well done. For pho I went with Dac Biet that was loaded with all the goods. Meatballs, rare steak, tendon, and fatty brisket were all so tender and that broth, so fragrant and balanced. Plus ample amount of rice noodles. I was in slurpy heaven! I did take out and everything was packaged perfectly. Fortunately Pho Bo is close to where I live so my order arrived piping hot. Good job! Looking forward to trying more dishes soon especially their Bun Cha Gio Thit Nuong, Egg Rolls & Char Grilled Pork with Vermicelli Noodles. *drool*

After dropping our luggage off since it was too early to check-in, I was thrilled that Gavin wanted Asian. The Uber ride was less than 8 minutes. We were the first to walk in. They open at 9. We picked a table right by the outlet so we can charge our phones. We ordered their P1 (pho dac biet) and Gavin ordered their C14 (BBQ pork fried rice). Service was fast and friendly. The broth was light and clean. The restroom was clean, the restaurant was spacious and inviting. Kudos to them being open early, too!

It was my first time here and as you walk in the restaurant is very spacious and has a lot of seating. The food had a lot of flavor and the fish sauce was 10/10. Some places don't have good fish sauce. We ordered: Beef vermicelli 10/10 Pho tai 10/10 Egg rolls 10/0 Two smoothies 0/10 The service was fast and friendly! I wish we didn't order the smoothies because it just tasted like condense milk with slushy ice, if we didn't order that this would be 5 stars. Unfortunately they lose a star for the terrible smoothie.

My daughter wanted pho and this was close by to Coronado. The pho here was amazing! The broth was nice and beefy, the depth that only comes from plenty of bones and meat stewing instead of the instant seasoning paste so many restaurants use in large quantities. I got pho dac biet and you can tell each cut of meat was carefully tended to make sure it was the right texture- the ve don ("crunchy flank") actually had a crisp bite that is so hard to get at restaurants! First time I had a bowl in SD that would be worthy of OC - delicious! The strawberry smoothie was also so refreshing.

I really enjoyed the pho broth--it was rich and full of flavor. They were generous with the meat in each serving (we ordered the large pho). I usually go to Pho Hoa when I'm craving pho, but Pho Bo definitely impressed me. I'll be coming back again.

Overall: 4.5/5 Food: 4.5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 This spot is one of the best Pho's I've had. The service was fast, polite, and personable. And when I say personable, the older gentleman (Gramps) came and asked me "Hey, You ready!" Lol.. I wasn't ready yet. But they gave me that feeling like it's one of my older uncles asking me if I'm ready. The bathroom was super clean! This is always a plus in my book! The food, exceptional! One of the best pho broths I've ever had. The fatty brisket, the beef rib, the noodles, and the Thai tea, all delicious. Would I double back? Yesssirski!!

Broken rice with grilled pork and shrimp

This place is right behind Chicano Park, across the way from Northgate Market, right in the corner. It's modern, clean, and spacious. Even the bathrooms had nice decor and were clean, which says a lot for a pho establishment. We had egg roll appetizers that were nice and hot, and crunchy. Could have used a little more salt or seasoning in the meat, but not bad. We specifically went here for my pescatarian friend, who asked me to make sure there was vegetarian pho. There was, but after the meal, she said the noodles were a bit overdone. I had the broken rice with grilled shrimp and pork. Mine was delicious, I'd order it again and again. Everything was seasoned well, pork was juicy and caramelized, and the 5 shrimp were a good size, with good bite... Not the dinky kind that I'm used to seeing, and not rubbery. Service was fairly quick; I'd come back here if I was in the area. My friend was staying at the Hilton Bayfront, and this was the closest pho spot, just a 6 min drive.

    Diana C.

Absolutely delicious, just what you need on a nice chilly day. I ordered a small P8 and it was so filling. Definitely throw a bit of chili oil in the pho to make it spicy. If you are sick this will sure clear your sinuses. Our server was so attentive as well, never missed our refills and we didn't even have to tell him. Went here with my coworkers and we all loved it. Will be back!

I asked her what she wanted and she said, "seafood", so I immediately thought of Blue Water, and we drove right over. We parked at a metered spot nearby & walked in at 5pm. Do note that there is no dedicated parking for Blue Water, so at busy times it may be tricky to find a spot, but we had no trouble today. In the main dining ordering area & on the side patio, there were a few tables that were occupied, but there was no ordering line. All of us wanted shrimp today apparently, so my dad and I both got a shrimp taco with lemon garlic butter & my hungry mom got the shrimp platter also with lemon garlic butter. The platter came with 8 shrimp, jasmine rice, and a lovely, fresh garden salad. The server who took our order and brought it out to us was very helpful & nice. They have a ton of fresh seafood on offer though so if shrimp is not your thing, there will likely be another delightful offering from the sea that will suit your fancy. We sat in the side patio area and it was very pleasant. We enjoyed our experience this evening very much! The tacos were big and had more than 5 shrimp in them, plus cabbage, pico, cheddar cheese & white sauce. One taco was pretty decently sized. If I'd been hungrier, two tacos would've been perfect, but today, I was happy with one taco. Yum! Mom enjoyed her platter. It was beautifully prepared. Blue Water also has a decent soft drink selection and beers and wine, but we all just had their water and it was very refreshing! :) By the time we left at 5:45, a line was forming out the door, so we really came out at a good time. Peace!

The oysters were just amazing! I love how they were each unique in taste and so fresh. Wishes I had ordered more. The clam chowder was good, though I'm unsure how it goes well with biscuit when biscuit doesn't do well in soaking up the chowder like a bread would. So, this was alright to me. The charcoal roasted mussels were tasty! Not only were the mussels cooked well, but the sauce that went with it was delicious. Ate every single drop of the sauce! It was hearty, lightly tangy and acidic, yet had that slightly creamy flavor to it. Hiramasa collar was superb. Tender, flavorful and when eating it fresh out of the kitchen, that warmth makes it totally umami. There was plenty of fish meat on it and yes, requires some work compared to a fillet, but the flavor from the collar is not something you can get from a fillet. Worth the extra effort to eat it! Definitely a restaurant I would return to when I'm in San Diego.

The building has the shape of an old school Pizza Hut with light blue paint on the exterior. I believe its predecessor was a Vietnamese eatery. A small dedicated parking lot was available to the right and back of the structure. A large countertop was in the front of the room, however a sign explicitly stated that seating was not allowed there. That was not the case when the business first opened. The rest of the dining room had lots of four top tables that could be pushed together if you had a large party. I would say the seating capacity was around 60. A worker brought me to a table and laid out a large sheet of wax paper to serve as a tablecloth and/or the surface on which a boil bag contents would be placed. The two-sided menu had build your own seafood boils, bucket deals, and combo meals featured on one page. Starters, oysters, special entrees, soup, and dessert were also on this side. The other page listed the fried baskets, weekday specials, and beverages. Unfortunately, the Gumbo was sold out during my visit which was one item that I really wanted to try. I waffled between the Garlic Noodles with Shrimp and the Shrimp & Grits that were each priced at $16. The latter was my choice with mild spiciness. A shallow dish containing a bed of grits with eight pieces of shrimp was brought to my table in about 10 minutes. A fiery looking sauce (tobasco?) was applied on top of the grits, but it looked a lot meaner than it tasted. If anything, the sauce made this entree quite salty. For the price, quality, and quantity of my food, I gave a three star rating for my meal at Shrimp Heads.

Hands-down the best seafood and fish taco place in San Diego! A must order is the Taco Especial…read morewith smoked fish, shrimp, scallops, tomato, cilantro, onion, melted cheese and avocado. I highly recommend pairing this with the chipotle sauce, which is offered along with all of the other sauces. The Battered Fish Taco and Tuna Ceviche Tostada is also a must. Every time I have visitors to San Diego and they want authentic Mexican Food I take them to Oscar's. I won't eat my fish tacos anywhere else! This place is definitely a local establishment. Note that parking is tight in the parking lot, but you can also park on the street around the corner. The food is worth the search for a spot if the lot is full. This eatery is legit!

Oscar's came highly recommended by a bunch of SD locals. I've been here three times and it hits…read moreevery time. Some highlights: -Mixto Ceviche: ceviche with shrimp and fish. Comes in a personal sized cup and can be shared as a group or as part of your entree. -Grilled Octopus/Pulpo Taco: I'm always a little hesitant about grilled octopus because it's hard to prepare and can end up being really chewy. It was grilled perfectly here! The chunks were big enough so you get the squid flavor. It also comes with a sweet/spicy sauce which was unexpected but really yummy. -Battered Fish Taco: my favorite dish! Huge flaky piece of fish that's fried really well. Not too much rough and you can really taste the fish. -Chips and Guac: fresh made guac! Get it as a side order and you can add to your tacos too. It can get really busy here. Our food took longer than expected and you have to wait around for a table too. Parking lot can be a hit or miss. Try to come during off hours!
