The only complaint was when I got the soups and asked for hoisin, soy sauce and chili oil they put it all together in one condiment container. I've been coming to this place since the 90s and it has always had the same owners, old married chinese-vietnamese couple. Their prices are fair, adjusted for the market so a large bowl of pho will be $13. You will get delicious broth, fair meats/veggies and plenty of noodles. I've always received great service as I grew up. If I lived closer, I would visit this place more often. It has a quiet, calm charm that comes with old school dining that makes the food taste good. Of all the places I could have pulled up to this was not on my radar. I wanted to stop at the Market next door to buy some veggies to cook at home, but I really needed some pho soup to help with this winter weather and my sniffles. I was safe, didn't go inside, ordered at the door, went to the store and came back for my order. I had to get some cash to pay the $10 since it was cash only business. After warming my broth at home and assembling the soup, I prayed that it would meet the need for pho. The taste was so good. It was flavorful and filling. I added some of my watercress I bought at the Market to make it even better. I had to stop eating it or I would have eaten the entire order. It could easily serve two light eaters. I'm not sure if the chili sauce that came with it was supposed to be added beforehand but I added the whole thing to the broth which may have given the soup it's rich and hearty flavor. My favorite place to get Bun Rieu in sacramento. My family and I have been going to Pho Bolsa for about 15 years for Bun Rieu. It is a rice noodle soup that comes with pieces of shrimp, crab, tomato and tofu. The broth needs to be slightly tart and we've found that no other place has achieved the authenticity of the broth. Overall the bowl is savory, fresh and delicious. Great comfort food. This restaurant is located next to GoldStar market with plenty of parking. It's a small mom and pop restaurant with really nice owners. I ordered during COVID-19 on the phone, and waited outside of the restaurant and they bring it to you. Payment is in cash. I really hope this restaurant survives through the whole shelter in place order. read more

Bun Cha Dong Xuan, meat ball is good, slice meat is a kinda dry, the sauce is just salty, the supposed pickle vegie is too soft instead of being crunchy, & it also not sweet / sour. Bun Vit Xao Mang, bamboos shoot is too soft, flavor is salty. Not recommended. There are many wrong in any dish. Service is friendly and warm. But I can't come back for this. read more

I"m still working my way around Little Saigon, an adventure that may well last a long time with so many options, and this was one of my first and favorite Mom and Pop discoveries. I love the fact that you can eat breakfast here when they open at 7:30. There a couple other options in the area for breakfast but none offer the same level of variety and tastiness in comfort food. The place is certainly has a dated look. The upside is it's always very clean in the restaurant and you can see into the kitchen which is well organized and clean as well. One of the HUGE pluses are the servers who always make you feel at home. I believe it's a mother and daughter. They are both so sweet. They offer suggestions if you ask. I've tried numerous dishes and have found them all to be tasty, fresh and filling. The food always comes out fast and hot. The food is an amazing value but bring your cash as plastic isn't an option. By design of the little mall the common shared restrooms, that need to be unlocked for use, can be untidy at times. I make it a point to just avoid that area. All in all a great place with an amazing variety of foods that really hit the spot for breakfast. For my money as good as it gets for breakfast though not as good as it gets for Vietnamese food in Little Saigon. read more

I can't remember how long I have been coming here but it has been a long time. My all time favorite item on the menu is their chicken noodle. Sorry Pho Anh Dao, this place is much better to me. I prefer their chicken noodles over most places because you can ask for then big noodles over the pho noodles. I'm just not a pho noodle person. The chicken meat was always abundant and you can ask ask for the gizzards etc or skip them. I've tried the Bun Rieu and it's good but I would still order the chicken noodle over this as well. The Bun Thit Nuong is good but the sauce is just okay. The dipping sauce in my opinion is really just fish sauce and not vinegary enough for me. Overall if you are wanting a bowl of chicken noodle i would recommend this place. Any other dish I would say other places are a tad better. I ate here with a friend during a late lunch hour. This was my first time eating here. There are no restrooms inside the restaurant. The waitress told me the restrooms are outside the restaurant, located behind New Wendy's Hair & Nails. The waitress unlocked the restroom with a key, handed me the lock, and asked me to lock it once I'm done. There are no paper towels and hand soap and graffiti is scribbled all over the place. Despite the unhygienic conditions of the restrooms, it didn't ruin what was a pleasant exposure to Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine. The chef prepared the food fast. The waiting time was short and she served the food to us personally. I ordered the beef stew with rice. Beef was cooked very tender with generous portions of white rice. My friend ordered the bun bo soup, a soup with beef and rice vermicelli. When his order came, the soup bowl was huge and the price was a bargain at six dollars. Our lunch also came with complimentary hot tea. Ambiance was Chinese calligraphy with red background banners posted throughout the restaurant, giving it the feel of an authentic Chinese & Vietnamese restaurant. It would have been nice if there were payment options other than just cash only as Pho Bolsa doesn't accept credit cards. But the bill was reasonable at $15.20 for two people. read more

The Bún Riêu was extremely good! Lots of crab flavor in every bite!! That's what I come here for, so that in itself satisfied me already. Unfortunately, we could have done without the DRIED Hu Tieu noodles though. Although they did bring us a side of broth, there was still broth in the bowl of Hu Tieu, which means there was nothing dry about our hu tieu. Other than that, the flavoring was on point. The prices are very fair and the service is fairly quick. Onto the crab vermicelli soup which is apparently one of the most popular food items on the menu. It is a decently sized mixture of crab meat, vermicelli noodles, tomatoes, scallions, and broth with the usual Vietnamese side dish of bean sprouts, jalapenos, lime, and mixed herbs. So I had the popular soup dish Bun Rieu and yes, there was flavor, but the broth was just too sweet. I added two lemon slices to hopefully offset the sweetness with more acidity, and it just didn't work. Added a couple dabs of fish sauce to make it salty, nope. The BR was surprisingly small and flavor was off and seemed light on ingredients. SERVICE 3* Service was better than average. Server knew it was our first time and made some recommendations. I think she checked on us too so better than average for HITW joints. LOCATION 2.5* In a big Asian plaza with plenty of parking. Place looks pretty old, decor is drab, not the cleanest, but also not that different from typical HITW azn spots. Also not the nicest part of town. I love the Bun Rieu here. That's about the only dish I order, they have really good pork chop over rice but I'm more of noodle type. They're known for the best Bun Rieu, Pork over rice and the yummy egg rolls! The funny thing about here is that almost every item on the menu is good... expect for their chicken or beef pho. You think because they're like a pho restaurant, the pho here would be amazing. But it's not, the pho here isn't bad it's decent. But if I'm craving pho I wouldn't eat here.
