I was looking for some pho after doing a long hike, and we ended up at Pho Box. I ordered the standard beef pho ($13) and summer rolls. Pho portion size was large, broth was average tasting, meat was average too. They have a topping bar with all the regular toppings - thai basil, cilantro, lime, jalapeños, bean sprouts, etc. The summer rolls were also pretty standard - came with a peanut dipping sauce. A way overpriced restaurant - again. Not sure if the prices recently changed but the menu on their website is between $2-5+ different than what is seen within. There's also more variety in the menu as seen in the pictures. The menu online was already on the expensive side, notably if you are familiar with Vietnamese food prices locally (the sandwiches are $8-9 here ) so the uptick in price was very surprising and undesired. How you see these prices play out in our order is outlined below: The pork ramen comes with no pork, instead there are a half handful of vegetables and is mostly consisting of cabbage. The broth itself is fine. Ramen noodles are literally packaged ramen noodles. This would have been fine if the price was significantly lower but what you exchange for $12 is broth coupled with instant ramen noodles. Definitely not expected. The bulgogi and japchae have an extra $3-5 charge for making it a meal - which is a little ball of rice and a tiny container of salad. The portions are already small to begin with and unlike many Korean restaurants do not serve complimentary banchan with the orders. Both dishes were very average. The calamari was a bit too overcooked and ended up tasting like oil. There is also not a lot of calamari and yet the price is at least $10. The only redeeming factor of the restaurant is their playlist (they were playing Toy). This experience was lukewarm at best and was not worth the $60 paid for the four items. Small portions, overpriced, and a miser when it comes to adding sufficient ingredients. This is actually the first time I've had ramen or any noodle dish that did not come with the specified meat. Very small inside. The man working the front counter was not very welcoming and actually had a very straight face, lacking a smile, considering he had new customers coming in. I didn't see him smile is single time. Service was just blah to be honest. Soup was just blah as well. Unimpressed. Drove past this place multiple times and decided to take my sister the evening she was discharged from the hospital and we could've found a different pho restaurant all together. I heard they had good banh mi's here do I decided to give it a try. I ordered the bulgogi and pork banh mi's. They both are very good! I didn't realized I ordered the non spicy version when I got home. Won't be doing that again lol the only criticism I have is they put too much of the sauce on it so I was eating it was just soaked dripping down and I don't usually like my banh mi's so "saucy". I am speechless. I'm from out of town and decided to eat here over Chik-fil-a. Best. Decision. Ever. You wouldn't expect the place to be as nice as it is given it's location in a small strip mall. There's a large menu but it's clear and easy to navigate. My friend and I decided to go with the Banh-Mi sandwiches. I chose chicken and my friend had the combo (chicken + pork). Our orders were ready within 10 minutes. We opened the boxes and were pleasantly surprised with beautifully crafted sandwiches. The layout of Pho Box has changed since COVID. Not sure if they're related or not...but a server used to come to the table and take your order...now you place an order at the counter and the food is brought out. I guess more of a take out mentality these days. Pho Box goes over and beyond for keeping their place safe and clean for visitors. Disposable utensils, basically a "grab your own" mentality so things aren't always on the table. There's a salad bar-like set up for all of the pho toppings. Very clean. Tongs to fill a bowl...and a "used" section for tongs that have been used. Must try: crab rangoon. I feel like they make them fresh before they fry them. They're oozing with crabby goodness. The pho is huge (enough for two probably). And my son is a big fan of their boba. This place has been one of our go-to's for pho since we moved here. The presentation was great, but my combo pho had very little meat pieces (meatballs are sliced so thinly). The broth was a bit off. Partner ordered oxtail pho and it was $20. There were 2 pieces of oxtail, not bad but wow $20 pho is mind-boggling to me as a Bay Area native. I did like the self-serve bar so you can get the amount of bean sprouts, Thai basil, and jalapeños you want. More places should do this! I recently drove by this place and wanted to check it out. Judging by past posts of pictures, this place has been around for a year? I don't know where I have been as I'm always around here but my Dad and I just noticed it a couple days ago. I got take out. For a Friday evening, it was very slow. There was absolutely no one in the place. A party of two came in as I was leaving though. The inside is super sleek and modern. Definitely not your typical Pho restaurant. Their menu selection is pretty typical of any other Pho restaurant too. I went with the pork salad bowl (bun). It was good but I've definitely had better. Also, I wish I got more noodles too. At other places, the noodle to salad ratio is perfect, this one had way too much salad. But then again, maybe that was their intent because "salad" is in the title. I don't think "salad" is usually pointed out hugely at other places. I guess it was a good thing for me anyway since I'm supposed to be on a diet! I wasn't impressed with the veggie egg roll either, definitely tasted frozen and store bought from Costco or something. I ordered my Dad the pork rice plate. Was kind of sad they didn't have a combo rice platter like other places. This dish is nothing like your typical Vietnamese rice platter though, it was more of a teriyaki style with a fried egg on top, two scoops of rice and a side of salad (see picture). I was expecting a pork chop but it was shredded pork pieces. It doesn't come with traditional Vietnamese rice platter veggies either like some lettuce and cucumber and picked daikon and carrots. I also ordered my Mom some spring rolls, the sauce was similar to what I'm used to and my Mom said the spring rolls weren't bad. The service is friendly. Although it felt like it took longer than it needed for it being so empty. However, I think they had multiple to go orders at the time so it's fine. For two entree orders and a side of spring rolls, it costs $28. Pretty pricey in my opinion. It doesn't appear that this place is run by Vietnamese people either, which is a change (and I could be absolutely wrong). You don't see a lot of non-Vietnamese run Vietnamese restaurants. I mean that's fine, I'm not saying you can't but the dishes I had were definitely not authentic Vietnamese food. So if you're looking for that I suggest going somewhere else. This place definitely puts a different twist on their Vietnamese food and I'm not sure I like it. I don't know if I'll be back but I'm always game for trying new places at least once. read more
