I don't think this place has gotten worse, but after having more experience in better Vietnamese restaurant areas (like Randolph), I've just noticed that this place is just okay. The pho is good and portion is decent, but the broth isn't superior to places like Pho So 1 or Pho 41, both in Randolph. The last time I came, I had to employ much sriracha sauce to get some flavor into the broth. I had a watermelon smoothie here and it was really refreshing on a sultry summer day. The service was pretty good as the waiter we had was patient and did his best for a large group. So if you can't get to Dorchester or Randolph, and you're hankering for some pho, this is a reasonable place to go. Definitely far better than Pho Hoa on the other side of town... read more

Was visiting today on a super cold day for a hot bowl of Pho after a long time. The food was still as good as I remember and the waitress was so nice.Everything was good but the restaurant was freezing made my visit wasnt enjoyable and i feel bad for servers have to run in the cold all day. read more

This place is a gem. I did not expect this from a small pho restaurant in Quincy. I ordered D1 pho and house fried rice that has Chinese sausage, beef, shrimp, chicken, and vegetables. Pho soup is very clean yet has that deep strong taste you cant find anywhere else. I also noticed that soup remained hot for a very long time. You can tell they have been brewing this soup for a while. It was nice to actually take my time eating it without having to worry about soup getting cold. Fried rice was also very clean yet super tasty. Resturant itself is very modern and clean. Service was excellent and got our food in time. My only suggestion would be to use less salt in fried rice and clean out the shrimps because I noticed shrimps still had black stuff inside. But other than that, I would HIGHLY recommend this place over any other pho places in the area. Pho Countryside is as good as it gets! They have amazing pho and appetizers for super cheap prices. I always order the pho dac biet. Just recently, I discovered that they have bun rieu! It was delicious and the portion was HUGE. It lasted me two more meals after taking it home because I couldn't finish it. I highly recommend ordering the fried bean curd stuffed with fish paste appetizer. It is super crispy and delicious. I love dunking it in fish sauce because it enhances the flavor. One thing that differentiates this pho restaurant from others is their amazing coconut mung bean shake! It is so yummy and refreshing. It complements the pho really well. You can get the shake to go, which is what I usually do when I don't have room for pho and only want the shake. It's a constant battle between coming here or Pho Linh. But Pho Countryside is definitely more convenient. They have a huge parking lot, whereas Pho Linh has a super small one and you have to rely on street parking. Pho Countryside is also located in a really convenient location. Next to is a supermarket (Kam Man) which I usually go to to walk off the calories that I just consumed. Service lacks but I don't really expect much from an Asian restaurant. It's not stopping me from coming back!! read more

My favorite dish from this place is the shaking beef with rice. Their shaking beef is very close to authenic and the rice is on another level. My second favorite dish would be their bun bo hue. Its a spicy beef based noodle soup with multiple beef meats. They are a more americanized Vietnamese restaurant, no free refill on drinks, hot tea is a standard and is free ! read more

Food 8/10 This is authentic vietnamese food. the Pho broth is usually good, the beef broth is more on the bland side than i would like but its pretty good. i usually get the PHO dac biet and the portion is good Rice plates with pork/grilled pork/grilled beef are good for the most part. It is however inconsistent, portions are very inconsistent, flavoring is inconsistent, and the cook (well-done -- burnt, etc) is inconsistent the smoothies and drinks are really good though. Service 7/10 Straight business. The host, waiters, bartender meas business like most traditional asian place, they will get you your food and drinks fast but will not engage in anything else. Service was wonderful! My pho was sooo salty, I ordered a large pho Thai. I also ordered an avocado shake and it tasted healthy?! Haha It defiantly was just avocado and ice , wasn't made with condensed milk or ice cream. I guess a good place to go if ur starving after shopping at Kam man but skip the shakes! I got the D9 flank steak and beef brisket Pho. It was average, soup wasn't great, the meat was over cooked for some odd reason. Service was awful. The waiter and the hostess was miserable. It took 15-20 min to get the check. Never again. read more

It's 2019 and everyone needs to wake the PHO up! Pho Country side has gone downhill. What was once my favorite Vietnamese restaurant, is now my most loathe place to eat. If I could put caution tape up, I would. Instead, I am advising everyone from going there until they improve their quality of food AND customer service. The broth is watered down, 40% broth 60% water. There is legit 2 pieces of each type of meat. Whatever meat you do receive is disgustingly fatty. They are so cheap with the lime, it's ridiculous. Don't even bother coming here during the summer because they're cheap with ice too. I asked for ice in my water and they said it was reserved for smoothies, while i received luke warm tap water. And when I did order a Thai iced tea shake, it was tasteless and which was the breaking point of me hating this restaurant. Questions for the service: Why do they only give 1 napkin per person the entire meal? Why are there 5 servers standing around and not tending the tables while I need to wait 20 minutes to make an order? Why do they never come to your table to check on you? Why do I always have to flag a server down? Why does it take forever to get the check? There are better Vietnamese restaurants for you to go to in Quincy. read more

We've come here about twice and have some mixed feelings about it. The food is usually pretty good, but the service could be better, and that's really where this place loses stars. The service is another thing. The staff isn't super friendly, sometimes they are actually a little curt. They are not always very prompt with taking food orders and checking in on guests at the table. Yesterday, they also gave us a pot of tea that was stone cold, when it's usually boiling hot (had they taken a used one from another table?!). We get the spring rolls to start - we tried the pork spring rolls yesterday and they are bomb :) I'd recommend them. We've also gotten smoothies (mango, avocado) and coconut juice. All very good. Both times we've come, we've gotten pho with eye round steak, brisket, flank, and/or meatballs. The broth has been flavorful and hot both times we've come. We are always happy with the pho! So overall good food, and we'll definitely be back for pho, we'll just bring an extra ounce of patience for the service read more

I came here with a friend on a Tuesday around 7pm and it was fairly quiet. We were seated right away and I ordered the vermicelli (bun) with grilled pork and a spring roll. My friend ordered rice with grilled pork and a fried egg. The grilled pork was marinated so well with different spices and tasted great. The flavors were unique and I enjoyed it more than pho places I've been to in Boston. For dessert we shared a tri-color shaved ice with coconut milk, and it was so satisfying. This is my favorite place to get pho in the Quincy area. Their portion sizing is always on point and the flavors always comes through. Out of all the pho places that serves the crispy pork spring rolls, this place has the best one so far! The wait staff is a bit more pleasant compared to other places. Overall experience was not bad. Would have given more stars if it wasn't for our waitstaff's slow service, hate asking more than 2 times for extra utensils. The broth is delicious and the portions for pho are the best I've seen in MA! ! I usually get the Pho Sate, which is full of so many flavors, although it could use some more watercress. I also love the combinations of meats you can get - you can mix and match to your liking :). I've tried many of their other dishes and have been just as pleased. You really can't go wrong here! I'm a big fan of their Vietnamese coffee - I always get that stuff to go! Tip: order the drink to go! They give you double as much! Pho Countryside is my go to spot in Quincy whenever the craving for Pho comes along. The menu is ever so big which plenty of choices, ranging from noodle soups to rice dishes. My usual here is between grilled pork patty spring rolls and Egg fried rice with Vietnamese shaking beef, grilled pork chop with rice and Pho special. Portions are more than plentiful and will leave you more than full. The service here is average, they can be very forgetful of drinks and at times have had drinks come out after finishing the meal. On my last visit, I had to wait at least 20 mins before our waiter came with the check. This shouldn't deter you from stopping in to grab a bite to eat but just beware that it does happen often. Parking shouldn't be an issue since it situated in a private lot for Kam Man, but beware of weekends for parking cause its like a mad house. This review is strictly for the drinks I got from Pho Countryside! I was at Kam Man and suddenly my friends and I wanted boba, but we didn't want to go all the way to North Quincy, so my genius mind remembered that Pho Countryside exists and sells drinks! ;) We ordered Durian Smoothies and a Thai Iced Tea. I had the durian smoothie and it was amazing! Super cold, creamy, and very durian flavored. Durian is really something you either love or hate, if you wanted to try and aren't ready to commit to a full cup of it, I would suggest trying a sip from a friend's cup! I have eaten here before, it was literally the day after I got my wisdom teeth out and the pho here really touched my soul T_T just couldnt eat the meat hahaha If you're around Kam Man and want boba, Pho Countryside is a great if you don't want to go too far :) read more

I came here with my mom and sister. They both ordered the special combination soup and a plate of spring rolls while I got the bún riêu. They got their pho first - but with no spring rolls. I wasn't too bothered that I didn't get my bún riêu along with their pho since I figured less people got it and they needed to make some of the ingredients or something. Ten minutes later, no spring rolls or bún riêu. The waiter walked by us many times and looked at our table. I called him over to ask about my noodles, but he said he would be right back (he was cleaning up another table). Twenty minutes pass. My sister and mom are pretty much done with their dinner. He finally comes over and asks what we need. I complained that I haven't even gotten my bún riêu after they brought out the pho and I've been waiting for 20+ minutes. You know what he said? "Do you still want it?" ??????DO I STILL WANT IT??????? If I wasn't so hungry I would've said no and left immediately. I had to wait another 7 or so minutes for them to bring out the bún riêu that he just forgot to even order for me, and to my disappointment it wasn't very good. If it was busy would understand maybe a 10 minute delay or something, but there were literally only 3/4 other parties in the restaurant. Pho Countryside "used to be" the BOMB!! I ate there many times & have gotten take-out there many times as well. I'd usually order vermicelli, bbq pork, egg roll, & shrimp. The servings were quite large. I got the same thing for take-out several months ago. This is not an exaggeration. The order was 1/2 the size as before! I get it. Because of COVID, many prices have gone up. TBH, this was not the issue with me. I'd rather pay more but the lesser amount was unacceptable! My friend told me that the restaurant has changed owners. I can not imagine that other customers have not noticed the same. I'm all for 2nd chances but I've already found another very good Vietnamese restaurant. read more

I love the richness of the broth - full flavor with each spoon. Hi I'm Minh This place is okay for me, nothing too special. The pho is okay and the smoothies are hit and miss sometimes. It's a bit more pricey than other options such as Pho Pasteur or Pho Linh in North quincy if you want an alternative. I came here one night and got a lemon grass chicken plate with a side of Shrimp Tofu. I got a okay size piece of chicken breast over rice with cucumbers, lettuce and tomatoes. I really like shrimp tofu and they gave a heaping amount of it! It was fried perfectly in bean curd and had this sweet shrimp/tofu mixture on the inside. That one one aspect that made me enjoy my time here. All in all: -Bit Pricey -Food is okay -Drinks are hit and miss -Service can be spotty -Try shrimp tofu ! read more

Just the absolute worst Vietnamese food ever on my most recent trip. The Countryside Rice Plate was something I'd be nervous about feeding to my dog. The noodle soup was bland and the meat was off. Even the the spring rolls were loosely rolled and tasted like damp cardboard. And yet I give it 4 stars? Why? It's my protest against people who go to a restaurant once and give that establishment 1 or 2 stars. Those aren't the reviewers any of us should give credence to, unless something extraordinarily bad happened on that visit (e.g. a dead rat's head was floating in their french onion soup or a tangled mass of hair was sitting atop their pasta plate). They're way too reactionary. Was the food I ate this time awful? Absolutely. Was that indicative of the food I've had their in the past? Absolutely not. I've gone there plenty of times, and the food has been fantastic. One way you know is that the place is full of East Asians. And before anyone starts thinking of crying "racist," I happen to be East Asian. That's why I look like a panda bear. So, even though this one meal was just godawful, I'm going to take a measured approach and average this into the other meals I've had their. Normally, I'd give this place 4.5 out of 5 stars. So, considering my meal today and having talked with a friend who is also a regular there and had a bad meal today, well, dropping them to 4 stars is fair. Does this mean I won't go back? Absolutely not, and no one who reads this review should feel queasy about going there. Sometimes unforeseen things happen in the kitchen and the food is abnormally bad. It's happened to me at a couple of really expensive restaurants in downtown Boston. But then I've gone back a couple more times and never had the same bad experience. Pho Countryside is seriously good food. Let's hope that this was a rare aberration. So, I look forward to going there again and hoping that they'll rebound and be better than ever. read more

After months of not coming back here, I finally decided to give this place another chance after some of my horrible experiences here with the customer service. However, after hearing some friends say that their customer service has picked up, they were renovating, and that the foods are now proportional to their prices, AND because my bf loves this place so much and kept asking if we could go back....I finally gave in and came back just this past Tuesday. Least to say, I wasn't disappointed or insulted this time. This time, everything was enjoyable including the customer service from the reception guy. He was polite, very professional, he even asked us to please excuse the cramped space during their time with renovating. Props to whoever trained him well. We were placed at the back corner of the restaurant and was seated very close to other diners. Which of course it's expected since they are renovating and spacing is very limited between diners. The food portions were extremely portioned and fit the price that they charged you (which was in my previous unhappy review). This time I really felt more welcomed and respected as a customer of this restaurant. It also shows that the owner/s had respected and acknowledged the reviews on yelp and took control of the situations that needed to be addressed in his business. He was always a nice guy that frequently interacted with his customers and made them feel welcomed and appreciated. I'm glad that he finally was able to make his workers treate the customers the same way he does. read more

Busy plaza and busy restaurant. They were able to seat the four of us that were there and the other four arrived later; the pho arrived quick and hot. The soup broth was okay, but they only had a single piece of tendon and tripe in each of our bowls... though an extra large does have a lot of noodle, not so much different in meat than the other bowls. Friends had the avocado and durian shakes - they liked them! We'll have to try it next time. The rice dishes were a good size, though. Patient servers, though, they were able to handle three little kids and the adult's demands for them. read more

I personally think this is the best Pho in Quincy. The menu is very widespread and accommodates to vegetarians. I typically go with a large D1 (Pho Dac Biet) which is the combination of rare steak, flank, brisket, tendon, and tripe. The Food I had the Pho beef with beef balls. The soup broth i preferred the one i had in Allston Le's Vietnamese.There is nothing wrong with the soup is just that i preferred the one I had in Le's Restaurant. However, their beef balls are delicious!!!! My boyfriend had the grilled pork chop and it is tasty and what i was hoping it would taste like. Atmosphere The place is a medium size restaurant and the restaurant had a little bar at the back. I think they are also serving vietnamese drink (alcohol). The restaurant is also next to a supermarket, it is huge supermarket and i think its definitely worth it to have a look as it is huge. Overall I will definitely come back and try more of their menu. When I used to live in Quincy I went here all the time with my roommate. We never got pho here when we came though. The pho broth has hints of cinnamon which I really didn't like. However everything else we got here was always good. My to go dishes are the grilled pork patty spring rolls, shaking beef and the tri color dessert. The grilled pork patty spring rolls have a fried egg roll wrapper tucked inside that really makes it delicious. If you're used to the spring rolls with just shrimp, noodles and greens get this spring roll and you'll want several orders to make it into a meal. The shaking beef is basically cubes of beef cooked with bell peppers, onions and tomatoes which makes it become this saucy dish that is just really good with rice. It's considered an appetizer on their menu but it was enough to feed 2 people. Now the tri color dessert is something I really miss since moving away. It's a sweet concoction of pandan jello, red beans, green mung beans, coconut milk and ice. There's peanuts sprinkled in there too and it just brings back good memories of my childhood when my mom would make something similar. Stumbled upon this restaurant when I was shopping at Kam Man Market. My family is originally from Vietnam so we are all huge critics when it comes to eating Vietnamese dishes outside of our home. It was pretty empty when we walked in during dinner time on a Saturday night so we didn't have high expectations for the place. We ordered passion fruit tea, vietnamese coffee, the 7 beef combo meal, vermicelli pork combo plate, and chicken pho. The seasoning was perfect and all tasted like home cooked meals which can be hard to replicate. The 7 beef combo meal was suppose to be only enough for 2 people but we still had so much food left to share with others and bring home (that was my favorite meal). We had no complaints whatsoever. Owner (I'm assuming) even came up to check on us to make sure we were serviced properly and happy. Everything came out at a decent time and service was great. We live close to 2 hours away but definitely will be returning for more! Unfortunately, we were all too hungry to capture any pictures before digging in. I'd noticed the former Pho Yuen Dong was under construction the last time I was heading to Kam Man Market. Last night was a good pho night and wanted to try someplace new since my old standby in Randolph had been very inconsistent lately. Upon approach, a hand written sign informed us that they only take cash temporary. The new owner greeted us warmly and appologized that their merchant services card not working yet. We proceeded with the Cha Gio (eggrolls) and the Goi Cuon (summer rolls). The eggrolls were seasoned well only issue was that the wrapper they use was a bit thin and very crispy so when you bit it the eggroll shattered all over. The summer rolls were lacking: the pork they used in it wasn't seasoned and very dry. I couldn't even use the peanut sauce to eat it instead used the nuoc mam sauce from the eggrolls which boosted the flavor immensely. I got the D1 which is the pho w/all the beefy goodness (eye round, brisket, well done flank, soft tendon and tripe). I'd requested it with yellow noodles but was brought out with the traditional rice noodle. I thought our server understood what I'd requested but I was too hungry to have them make the correction but she never came by to check in on us...the owner did but by that time I was about 1/4 way into my pho. I like the broth that it was light, not greasy but flavorful. The brisket was lacking in flavor and had the texture of sandpaper as did the eye round. I'd only ate about 1/3 of the pho. DC had the I7 which is the grilled pork chop rice with shredded pork skin and vietnamese meat cake. The dish was good. Pork chop (sadly only a single thin one) was seasoned very well. The meat cake (our first time trying it) was not bad either. The shredded pork skin was very bland and we didn't like the texture of "sand" that they put in dry pork meat that used to dust the skin. Dousing it in the nuoc mam help tremendously. Initial visit says it's a big improvement over their predecessors. They are relatively new so I might give them a little longer to work out the kinks and might give them another try. read more

Excellent Vietnamese food and outstanding phos! It's been a number of years since we were last here, but we remembered back then that they had terrific pho but unfortunately for my wife, a limited selection of non-meat/non-poultry dishes. Fortunately, their menu has been broadened considerably since then, now with many options for my pescatarian/vegetarian spouse to partake in. On this recent pleasantly summery October Friday, I enjoyed a generous ("large size"), steaming bowl of beef pho with round steak and brisket slices which were simmering slowly to medium-rare in the tasty, clean broth. It was accompanied by a plate full of crisp fresh mung bean sprouts, large sprigs of Thai basil, and lime wedges, to garnish your bowl as desired. My wife had a plate of their lemongrass tofu and it was seasoned well with a nice spicy kick (which my chili-head wife cranked up to 11 with liberal dollops of garlic chili sauce). Upon first walking in, we were greeted by a friendly host who seated us immediately. We came on a Sunday afternoon so we were pleasantly surprised to be seated so quickly. Our waiter was also very prompt and polite. I ordered the combination pho and my husband ordered a meat dish with rice. I don't remember the exact name so I apologize but he mentioned that he loved the rice. The rice was fragrant and had been fried with eggs. My soup was satisfying and really hit the spot. I just wished the broth had a bit more flavor. I tried the pho here before and I usually really enjoy the broth flavor so it might have just been an off day. We also ordered crispy egg rolls as an appetizer. The eggs rolls were crispy and served with a type of sweet fish sauce on the side. They also came with a couple pieces of pickled veggies that were delicious. The egg rolls were on the small side, but they were a great start to a satisfying meal. This is usually my go-to pho restaurant because it's so close to home and the food never disappoints, but there has been so many issues with the service that I will no longer choose this restaurant. My boyfriend and I came in on a Sunday afternoon and gave our name for 2 to wait for a table. The hostess said the wait is about 10-15 minutes, and that was not a problem. After that time has passed, the same hostess who took my name down butchered my name and lead us to a table to sit. After we got our water and were about to order, the hostess came back and said that we were on the bottom of the list and meant to say another party's name. Mind you, there were multiple parties of 2 who came after us so I'm not sure why we were still on the bottom of the list. She told us to get up and wait until our name is called. The waiter humiliated my sister. The bill came to be $46.00. We left a $6.00 tip. He called us back saying we short him .90 cent because it's a 15% tip. We gave him an extra $5.00 which added up to an $11.00 tip. Never again would I visit this place. P.S. The food was good though. read more

This place was horrible and we will never be back we went in for my mother-in-law's birthday and there was eight of us first we started off getting two drinks that had flies in them then two of us got the wrong food when we finally got the correct food everyone else was done eating and the food was lukewarm I ordered fried rice instead of the white rice with my dish and I got charge five extra dollars even though the rice did not come out fried is white rice with peas and when I complained they said that's what it is I was furious that I had to pay five extra dollars and everyone else on the table when they had the same rice as me.
