I have been to every Vietnamese restaurant that is on Sierra Avenue in Fontana. It appears I saved the best one for last. What a marvelous restaurant! It is in the same shopping center as Aldi, directly across the street from Kaiser Permanente. The interior looks like it was renovated recently. The dining area is spacious and very comfortable. The menu is large with numerous items to choose from. I ordered the House Special Pho. It had all the available beef cuts such as rare beef, fatty and lean brisket, tendons, book tripe, and beef meatballs. The broth was clear, light, and non-greasy. It had a slightly sweet flavor which was very appealing to me and different from the usual broth. It just needed a spritz of lime juice to brighten the rich beef flavors. The herbs, jalapeños, and mung bean sprout toppings were fresh. The thin rice noodles had just the right amount of chewy texture. The pho only came in large, which is fine because you can then take the remaining deliciousness home to eat later. I also ordered cha gio which are made with chicken here instead of pork. The egg rolls were generous in size with a well seasoned, ample filling. There is a smooth, starchy texture in the filling, most likely taro, which gave the egg rolls a nice mouthfeel in contrast to their crispy exterior. I ordered two but would have gladly ordered more since they were so delicious. A definite recommend. The black iced coffee I ordered went well with the meal. It was smooth tasting without any harsh bitterness and was also not too sweet. A good change from the usual Vietnamese iced coffee with a milk creamer. Service here is polite and friendly. Not too much hovering, which I appreciated. Parking is plentiful and access is easy onto the nearby 10 freeway. I will definitely return to this excellent restaurant to explore other menu items. read more

Amazing find near the Kaiser Hospital in Fontana. Pho Ha Vietnamese Restaurant is in a busy strip mall and be careful of traffic and tight parking. The Pho Ha Restaurant was nice and clean all around and I was helped at the counter by a young lady with a smile. I wanted some eggrolls to surprise a dear brother as he wanted something different. So she helped me choose number 40 for 4 Cha Gio (fried eggrolls with chicken fillings) and number 41 Goi Cuon (fresh spring rolls of chicken and shrimp in a clear rice wrapper). It was all prepared quickly and neatly bagged for me to take out. The visual presentation of the rolls inside the containers was very pleasing and it did not take much time for us to enjoy the deliciously made rolls with each distinct vegies and dipping sauce. Pho Ha certainly has much more than these two items as the menu is full of descriptions and colorful pictures. We will be returning to Pho Ha on our next trip to Fontana. read more

This is one of my favorite pho spots in the Inland Empire! I've been coming here for years and finally got around to writing a review. I ordered the #17, and it was excellent, perfectly sliced rare steak that cooks right in the hot broth. I also got their amazing spring rolls, and they do not hold back on the filling. I wanted Bun Bo Hue after my visit to Kaiser and stopped here. The ambiance is nice, store looks clean. I ordered my food right when I got seated and the food came relatively quick. I'm be honest, there was no flavor in the soup. I can't taste the spicy or the shrimp paste. They don't give you the correct condiment that goes with Bun Bo Hue... they give the same as what they give for the pho... it wasn't worth the money, it came out to be $21 with tax and tip. There is a much better place in San Bernardino that's cheaper and packed with taste. I will not return here for Bun Bo Hue. read more

Great taste and portions. Came in on a Friday after lunch and ordered the number 12 rare steak and brisket and it was delicious. The broth was light and even though it was hot it was refreshing, not overly seasoned and not greasy or oily. I finished everything in that bowl and very much enjoyed it. The young lady was very attentive checked in on me multiple times to make sure my experience was good and the food as well. She smiled a lot which makes me smile. I had the beef rib Pho, and it was absolutely outstanding. The broth was rich and flavorful. Clearly simmered for hours, and the beef rib was fall off the bone tender. The portions were also generous. The service was impressive, didn't feel rushed at all. The ambience was warm and comfortable. First time coming to this Fontana location. Linda our server suggested the Sizzling Beef plate and oh boy! Oh boy!!!! She was right by saying beef is so tender. At my young age of nearing 70, I can't chew on tough meat so this dish I can eat all day. Aside from beef being tender , it was very tasty and blended well with the red bell pepper, mushroom, onions and what looks like fried basil leaves. The dish was served in a hot sizzling hot plate and a plate if white rice and a side of pickled cucumber salad and a small bowl of warm broth. And I've lived in San Gabriel Valley and tried so many places -- as well as other local spots. THIS IS NUMBER ONE. It's not at all authentic and just a shame because now people will think this is what Vietnamese food is. Spring rolls with shredded lettuce only? No mint leaves? TONIGHT, THE PHO HA LOSES A LOYAL CUSTOMER. Previously, I would have rated this restaurant 5 stars and I hope in the past I have. Whatever the case, there is some mixed feelings that come with this review. I came in for dinner on a Tuesday night around 8pm. I have been coming here to the Pho Ha since they opened in Fontana. I've enjoyed their food, and happy to say that some really good dishes are served here. The service however has gone down hill and I am forced to see how bad it has gotten. The owners of the restaurant and those who work here seem nice, yet, don't let that fool you. It seems like they're all about making them dollar bills instead keeping their customers happy and just let the doe flow in naturally. My experience: During my current and last visit here, I had dinner and had a Vietnamese Egg Soda. The Vietnamese Egg Soda, from what I recently learned, is made with soda water, condensed milk with sugar, and a raw egg. The resulting drink is often sweet, thick like milk, and refreshing with bubbles to it. The drink I got with my dinner was watered down and not very sweet at all. While paying for a $36 meal, I gave the restaurant an opportunity to fix a simple drink that was initially served bland. Unfortunately they failed to make it better, even after 2 attempts. My request was simple, to just make the drink sweeter by adding whatever was necessary. In the process of talking to them in between paying with ApplePay, my total jumped from $36 to $47. I was distracted while paying in the process I was basically taken advantage of. I asked the man why there was a difference, and he stated that I chose to leave a $10 tip. Not sure how I agreed to that or how I selected that on a key pad while handling my drink in one hand, and my phone in the other... Mind you I was also sipping and testing out the drink they were supposed to make better - which they failed at doing. Instead of making a big deal about it, that $10 will just be the last $10 they receive from me. I rather hit up the Fontana Pho instead next time, and I will make it a point to avoid this restaurant. Moreover, having dinner here used to be nice. There used to be a nice crowd of people here too. Instead, there is less amount of people frequenting this restaurant, and tonight I see why. For one, they do not have the AC running at a comfortable temperature. It is more on the hot side if you dine in. On too if that, the mosquitos will be waiting to dine on you while you dine on your pho. If you happen to be a loyal customer, as I once was, just order your food to go. Last but not least, it is a bit mind boggling how some restaurants choose NOT to grow with their business. The Pho Ha is one of these such restaurants. Unless you speak Vietnamese then I guarantee you the lack of mutual understanding will affect your dine in experience. I feel like the workers, owners, and staff here don't care to improve their English because their level of English has been the same since they opened, and it has been about 10 years since they have been around. And I know all the faces too. It seems like they stopped trying to improve their service with improving English, and this is affecting the way they serve people. This lack of understanding makes it difficult to communicate and perhaps makes patrons an easy target to get taken advantage of while the restaurant sides on ignorance. You know, like if something simple just "got lost in translation." So long Pho Ha. I'll be making my own egg soda from now on. No deuces for ya'll. read more

5 star PHO! Yelp definitely got this one right. My wife knows that I'm a big fan of Pho, and even though she isn't, she took me out to go have some. Originally she had planned to take me to a place we'd been before in Fontana, but I asked her if we could try this place instead and boy am I glad I did. The restaurant was rather empty on a Tuesday afternoon so my wife and I were greeted and seated quickly. We ordered eggs rolls and spring rolls as appetizers, both were good. But the star of the show was definitely the Pho! I ordered mine with lean brisket and rare steak, my wife went with well done steak and brisket.
