My family and I use to really love this place, but the last few times we ordered we were highly disappointed. Which is sad because I use to praise this restaurant to everyone, especially on Social Media, they were our go to for Pho. I just don't know what changed. We ate here at around 6 PM on a Saturday. The food was horrible. I ordered the mixed meat noodles. The noodles were mushy. The beef and chicken were sliced very thin, which when cooked made the texture like jerky. The order of egg rolls was twice cooked, it seemed. Maybe from the day before or sitting under a warmer all day. The servers were like, "We are doing you a favor." My wife had a frown on her face at the register. Flat noodle with pork: Really good. Awesome flavor and the veggies are perfectly cooked. I think this will be a new favorite meal for me. It is great. The pork was tough, but that I forgave because it was so good. But it would perhaps be good for this restaurant to rethink their pork source. Vermicelli with lemongrass beef: AMAZING!!! Spicy and flavorful. I just love the spice on this. Vermicelli with pork and eggrolls: Pork is dry, but flavor is excellent. Eggrolls are a little soggy but this is because I ordered from Ubereats and it took them about 30 min to get it to me. I'm sure in house it would be perfectly crispy. Again, dry pork but awesome flavor. Pho with brisket and flank: Broth tastes almost as if it is bouillon with spices in it. Not a deep flavor. The meat is thin, dry, and scant. I gave the pieces that were gristle/fat to the dog. The veggies are really fresh and good. I will not be ordering pho from here again. The veggies that came with the vermicelli are fresh and crisp. The fish sauce is "boring", but if you add the chili that comes with the order it comes alive and is fabulous! read more

This restaurant is easily one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the Round Rock area. I've been here several times for lunch and the service is really quick. The restaurant itself is quite spacious, so there is almost no wait for a table. I love their grilled pork and spring roll combo vermicelli bowl. The grilled pork is nicely charred and egg rolls are crispy and flavorful (exactly how it should taste!). That dish never disappoints me. I have also got their Pho. The broth is everything and they make it really well, especially perfect if you are looking to have a nice warm dish. To top off the meal, have it with vietnamese coffee! It's strong but the condensed milk sweetens the bitter coffee taste. Always a treat to enjoy. read more

We tried 20 or so of the closest Vietnamese restaurants the first couple years after moving to Austin... and this spot is the best we found in the city. There is a reason they are always busy: THEIR PHO BROTH!!! To die for. There are a lot of reasons why this place is great, from the service, the cleanliness, the consistency of food quality year after year... but what sets them aside is the pho broth. I am still astonished at how many places around here are using instant mix or even pre-made broth. Pho Hoang is the real deal. Pho broth is made from simmering beef bones or oxtail for a long time, over several hours, with spices and sometimes charred onion & ginger. That's what makes it so rich and flavorful, and Pho Hoang's has a beautiful complexity that will fix you right up when you're sick or lethargic. We honestly haven't had any mediocre dishes from this place. We also enjoy the shaking beef with butter rice and all their bun. Their take out system is flawless and we've never gotten a wrong order here... they seem to double check everything consistently! read more

Perhaps I'm surrounded by more choices in my hometown... but I would definitely not recommend this place if you're headed to Arlington or Garland, TX. I ordered the rice dish with suon nuong, shredded pork and egg. The suon nuong (main protein in the dish) was dry with barely any flavor. Everyone else I went with had varieties of pho which were average. I would not come here again unless I'm in dire need to try to cure a hangover with their pho. Vietnamese comfort food. It is comforting. Technically, it's a noodle shop. That means you have a choice of noodles, noodles, noodles, rice and noodles. The noodles come wet or dry. You can pick what liquid makes them wet. You can pick how the noodles get sauteed if you get them dry. You can pick what gets dumped in with the noodles. I got em dry with the lightest and healthiest of the saute techniques and with tofu and vegetables instead of meat. The good health angels all pulled out their harps and sang hymns to healthy eating. Angel music is nice but that did mean I was getting one of the blandest preparations in the house. It was still fine. The food came out fast. The veggies were crunchy and tasty. The noodles were fried just enough to give a semblance of evil taste coming from what they were fried in in the bottom of the pan. My go to Vietnamese restaurant in Austin when it comes to Pho or Grilled Chicken rice plate cravings! In my opinion it's the most decent place in Austin for authentic Vietnamese food. I recently wanted to branch out in their menu and tried their Mi Thap Cam (combo seafood egg noodle soup) and I was totally disappointed. The taste of the broth was flavorless and the ingredients of the seafood didn't make it taste any better. The only edible thing was the egg noodle. Just devoured the take-out version of pork chops with crushed rice upon the recommendation of Will K. There was no fried egg (perhaps one must request this?), but I didn't miss it for a moment. For less than $7, I got 2 delectable, smoky grilled chops, 2 cups of fluffy rice, a salad of cucumber, tomato, and shredded pickled carrots, and the requisite little cups of fish sauce and garlic-chili sauce. My method is to chop up everything and mix it into the rice, then soak the plate with the fish sauce that has been pre-dosed with a bit of the chili sauce. Such complex flavors in every bite! I could only finish half the plate, so I'll have another crack at it at lunch tomorrow. Pho Huang is my husband's favorite place for vermicelli. On his noodle bowl, he never strays from the sliced pork and egg roll combo (from which he allows me to mooch a bite or two). The pork is incredible - sweet and smoky, yet very lean. The eggrolls give you a second hit of crispy, porky goodness - they are mostly meat, unlike 99% of the other egg rolls in this town that are mostly grease-laden wrapper and cabbage. The pho is best in town, with perfectly seasoned broth and lots of fresh herbs and veggies to add to the mix. Love the french-press coffee with condensed milk! This is powerful stuff, so I only partake on days when I can handle a caffeine kick in the head that will put my brain on warp speed. There are two locations for this joint, the original one down on Rutland near Pickle Research and this newer one up near La Frontera. I prefer the new one, as the menu is longer and offers more non-meat options, including seafood. The negatives (and they're really minor): For some reason, they never seem to have paper menus, and their website has been defunct for years after hackers attacked it in the '90s (strange for a place with free wifi onsite, no?). It would be nice if they'd get a menu online so I could plan my order from home and not have my kind dinner delivery dude (aka hubby) have to guess what I'd like to eat. The cash only thing used to be annoying, but since they've installed ATMs near the check-out counter, it's no problem for me now. read more

Today I ordered the #200, Pork and Shrimp Noodle Soup.. it was good, not as tasty as the Pho (IMO) and the noodles were stuck together as if they were dropped in one clump; so i needed to pull them apart and they were not freely moving. Additionally, they were firm.. so either they were not cooked fully before being put in broth or they were just not good noodles. The meal wasn't bad this time around, but I would rather trust the Pho and its beefy flavors next time and hopefully they won't have that noodle issue again. It's a solid pho spot. I can't attest to how it tastes in person bc I've been ordering through delivery bc of CoViD. I've liked everything that I've ordered there so far, spring rolls, egg rolls, various pho, Thai tea. I'm curious to try their banh mi and rice plates and vermicelli. I'll continue to order from here. I've had problems with the food missing but that's more of the delivery app issue I think. I think one time I ordered the soup was not as hot.
