Staff gets overwhelmed with many orders. Not great service.
    Sandra D.

I was very excited to come and get some food here because they said the food was excellent. Sadly disappointed on their service, staff is polite but not very friendly. I asked for a turkey sandwich and a juice and she was frustrated for all the orders and said that the order will take 20 min, I said it's ok I can work in the meantime. 48 minutes later I have no food yet, only the juice. I went and asked for the food and she looked all confused and said, Oh let me check. She came back with my sandwich and said I'm sorry. So they totally forgot about the food. The sandwich was ok, I paid 20 dollars for a juice and a very skinny sandwich . Definitely not worth the time.

I should eat here more often as it is delicious however this place is my savior for each and every time i get sick. This is Mom 2.0 for me. Delicious soups and that grilled cheese always hit the spot when Im feeling my worst. Imagine if I ate this feeling my best? Is there a higher level of best? You can find out for yourselves by enjoying this place as much as I do. They have online ordering however walk ups are real fast as well. The staff is great and the space may be tight but there is also spots across the street too. This is tucked on a side street making it feel real local. Give it a go and let us know! Soup peddling is working well for them from my point of view!

I've always loved soup peddler!!! Over the past few years I have been extra happy with the grilled cheese additions! The Cuban is really good. I love dipping the sandwiches in my soup. I mean, honestly what is better than grilled cheese in tomato soup? I especially like the vegan options for my husband who doesn't do dairy. This is always a great comfort food spot for us, but also has lots of healthy choices. Adding a smoothie to my order makes me feel like I have all my food groups covered. I've always found staff to be friendly and kind.

Love the soup peddler. Healthy, refreshing, kind. I come back every time I'm in town.

Juice is fabulous! Needed something refreshing coming off my flight and stumbled upon this cute place.

The soup and grilled cheese selections are so rad (in addition to other sandwiches, salads, etc.). Everything is fresh and the sandwiches are made to order. Homemade pestos really take the sandwiches to that extra mile. Homemade soups that bring back childhood memories. Quick and easy no frills little cafe. Fast and friendly service.

    Plenty of seats and clean.

We walked in after a long day for a juice. The gentleman behind the counter was polite and recommended the best generation. It hit the spot with a bright taste that leaned onto the lemon and was easy on the ginger. Great places, clean, with plenty of seating.

I love this smoothie-- Maui Waui. It's better than juiceland and the staff is kind! !!

The Soup Peddler has been in Austin since he was just a guy making soup at home and delivering it on a bicycle. Now he's expanded to several locations around town, and we were pleased to see this one on an excursion to the east side. The original recipe soups vary seasonally and we've found all to be to our liking, vegetarian dishes especially. Soup comes in various sizes with a side of French bread stick or oyster crackers. They do have sandwiches and smoothies and several gluten free and vegan offerings in each category. They also offer a few healthy juice shots. I've attached photos of their current menus. This location has a private parking lot and a few tables outside and inside, with a counter facing the outside window in addition. Nothing fancy, but the food is great. The perfect spot to grab something to warm up on a chilly winter afternoon or to cool off on a hot summer day. Addictive, for sure.

However, upon opening the front door I was met with beautiful fine dining ambience: exotic ceramic-tiled walls, cherry-finished wicker furniture cushioned with satin pillows, and of course the enormous golden cherub statue in the center of the room which delicately sprayed chicken tortilla soup into the Venice-like channels that crosshatched the restaurant. A hostess in a gondola rowed us to our table singing a song in another language (maybe Italian?) before letting us know that the Soup Man would be with us shortly as he was very busy today. The warning was unwarranted though, as the Soup Man shortly thereafter appeared at our table addressing, us by name and apologizing that the hostess didn't realize what esteemed guests we were. Bashfully I stammered that he must have me confused with someone else as I'd never been to this establishment before, but he softly shook his head and with a smile said, "I know all who live within this city." and pulled a steaming bowl of turkish wedding soup (my favorite!) from behind my ear as if to prove his point. Overall it was a wonderful experience! I am docking it one star because they were out of oyster crackers to crumble on my soup. Will be back!

They were giving out free smoothie samples with three options: mango OJ, strawberry & banana, and banana PB. Their smoothies aren't very sweet and overall pretty basic. The mango & orange one was too icy, so it was hard to sip. The banana & peanut butter mostly tasted like peanut butter, but it wasn't too thick, which I liked. They also let you spin a wheel for a prize which was fun. Parking can be difficult during rush hour so I recommend ordering for take out. My parents bought an 8 oz cup of the chicken soup with rice. The…read moreThai basil leaves were absolutely ginormous, and they gave us plenty of them alongside very fresh limes, which I appreciated. The bowl itself came loaded with meat--they definitely weren't skimping to save money here. The meat-to-noodle ratio felt great, and every bite actually had substance instead of leaving me fishing around for toppings. As for the broth, I landed somewhere in the middle. It wasn't quite as clear or light as I personally prefer, leaning toward a fattier, milkier undertone that almost reminded me of a Vietnamese pho take on tonkotsu. The flavor itself was undeniably very good, but the richness may have been a bit too much for me personally. One way I usually judge how much I love a pho broth is whether I want to sip the bowl down to the very end, and this one wasn't quite light enough for me to want to do that. I've had richer and deeper pho flavors elsewhere, but I still appreciated the flavor profile here and could absolutely see why this place is so popular. It feels hearty, comforting, and satisfying in a way that clearly resonates with many people. Despite how packed the restaurant was, the atmosphere ended up being surprisingly pleasant. Service moved very quickly, which honestly impressed me given how busy everything felt. Even with the crowd, I didn't dislike the spacing or setup at all--the restaurant still felt comfortable, and the sound of people enjoying their food all around added to the lively, welcoming energy rather than making it feel overwhelming. Overall, Pho Phong Lưu ended up being one of those places where I completely understood the hype, even if it didn't become my personal favorite pho spot. While the broth leaned richer than my preference, I still enjoyed the experience and definitely look forward to trying other dishes next time.
