The lady that helped us (didn't get her name) but she was quick and our food came out very fast and everything was hot just how I like my food. They also sell bags of fruit (in wintertime it's persimmons and jackfruit) for stellar prices and have a variety of to-go drinks, sweets, and buns. Overall, this is the pho place I keep returning to. The place has been recently renovated so seating is much faster. You can also order take out at the cashier but it's really great dining in. Took a little longer to obtain our food this time around but they were very busy. The meat and noodles portions are average in size. I ordered a large and didn't feel like it was super filling. If you're really hungry, may want to order the extra large. Pricing is very reasonable and this is the only pho location that I know of that serves Chinese donuts. Chinese donuts with pho are such a treat and it's the main reason I keep coming here. I grew up in the area since the early 90's and visited back here for the first time since then. The taste is not what it used to be. It used to be more flavor. Not sure if the nice renovations and newer ownership ? Pho is overpriced here to regular pho standards. I got a large and extra large and it was over $30 bucks. Their special combo didn't even come with meat balls. Their extra large bowl is no larger than a normal large bowl at other pho places. Mediocre taste , with over price pho and portions that don't match the overprice pho. I was disappointed that the quality is not what it used to be. I love this place. The broth hits different. Even though I live basically in Westminster in the heart of Asia, I will make the drive to LB for this. #8 with a side of bread is the usual. The only issue for me is I get lazy to drive at times andddd they close early. AMAZING AMAZING AMAING!!! This is my favorite pho place in LA (if long beach counts as that). Their house made chili sauce is to die for, I even bought a jar home with me to keep. The chef personally came out to speak with us and tell us how to best eat his dishes and what sauces to pair with them. Long Beach iconic Cambodian/Vietnamese Pho! They're currently taking takeout orders and have the back patio open for eating. My boyfriend's first time and he told me "if I ever want pho, I only wanna get it here." It's true, the broth doesn't have that usually original cinnamon /star anise dominant flavor, instead this broth has a savory and slightly sweet taste. The pricing is fair and they package everything nicely to go. The Chinese donuts here are incredible- they weren't fresh BUT they we're still soft and had more chew than the usual chromosome bread that you'd fine at Vietnamese shops. I also bought a taro custard desert that was so cool to eat. Lastly the spring rolls and the fish sauce were plump and delicious! They take card and Apple Pay. Their mains menu is very standard: pho with different meat toppings and a few other noodle dishes. They also have a big drink menu with uncommon options like soda with raw egg yolk. I ordered that alongside a small bowl and a Chinese donut. Here, the service is really fast. Once you're seated, they're ready to take your order and once you get up to pay, they're ready to prep for the next party. I think it's pho shop basics to have speedy food prep, and they have that down pat, bringing our orders very quickly. The pho tastes very good and the broth is present. This is an oldie but goodie. I was a regular at this restaurant before the pandemic, before I was a father, and even before I became a Yelper. For 19 years, the same owners operated this joint to satisfy the pho craving of neighborhood families as well as those who work nearby. I belong in the latter group, as this was my favorite lunch spot if I finished my morning clinic on-time. In the era of social distancing, they perfected the art of packing the complete pho concoction into separate compartments. The broth is piping hot in its own container, but filled just enough so it wouldn't spill over if you add the thin slices of rare beef to cook. The slices of beef are organized in their own sheets of wax paper, which are separated from the pho. The pho serves as the foundation. While it clumped together in the container, it quickly softened once it's bathing in the hot broth. A bag of basil leaves and fresh bean sprouts came with lemon slices and other condiments. And the broth is nothing to sneeze at. It's rich and savory without being too salty, and it carries the essence of the meal. I was speechless as it warmed my mouth and sailed straight into my soul. (My last review was 2016 and I just read it after I posted my updated review. I cant believe it was the same feeling about the broth. MSG. I am like a MSG alarm. Everytime I ate anything with MSG i got thirsty as hell.) Giving it another try after their renovation. Totally regreat it. First the broth isn't anything special. It has msg taste. It doesn't taste like any deep flavor broth like Wok and Pho. Second is that they charge 50 cents per container take out order. 2 large pho (which is more like small pho from other pho places) and a spring roll for take out is $27. Like wtf. If it tastes like heaven I wouldn't mind but it doesn't. I was super thirsty afterwards meaning plenty msg. Third their pricing is terrible. Before a large pho was 6 usd and now 9 usd. Extra large was 8 usd and now 13 usd. They don't even take credit card. It means they charge more than other places for container and their price is more expensive than others. They dont even take credit card nor debit card, cash only. This must be the worst place I've ever eaten for pho. I got why people liked it before because it was cheap but now not only it is not cheap but they have extra charge per container and no credit card. Above all it doesn't taste good. If you wanna have good non msg deep broth pho, go to Wok and Pho. They don't charge containers and they take credit card. The large pho at Wok and Pho is only 8.50$(equals to extra large at Pho Hong phat for $13) !!!! read more

I am Vietnamese so there are certain expectations I have. The location is cosy, parking is a bit tough, but it was fine. Decent dining area, no ac so It was hot and humid with fans spinning. The restaurant does not serve traditional Vietnamese appetizers, no spring rolls, no egg rolls, no viet salads. Menu is basic with drinks and just pho. I ordered an extra large pho number 14, it did not taste Vietnamese, a tad too sugary, too much salt, and NOT ENOUGH meat. I felt ripped off based on $9 for a bowl. It tasted as if carrots and celery were in it, the beef taste did not taste like it came from bones, the broth taste powdered based. The restaurant is operated by non Vietnamese which is fine to me but if non Vietnamese will attempt to make Vietnamese food, go all out. Don't hold back and cut corners to save money on meat. It's not a full service restaurant. I ate my entire bowl of pho because I was too hungry but I won't go back again. I always tip 20-25% but this time, I couldn't tip, first time in 5 years I didn't tip. I give it 2 stars only because the borth was decent but if it wasn't, 1 Star. OMG talk about skimpy, there is 4 sizes on the Pho. S,M,L, and XL. I ordered the (L) and the portion of meat and noodle was more of S elsewhere. I got the combination meat and there was literally count 6 tiny pieces of meat 2 piece of different meat each and when I go to loosen up the noodle I literally picked up entire bowl of noodle with one scoop. the noodle was in ball smaller than a tennis ball that took 4 bites to finish.
