Definitely my go to Vietnamese spot, I frequent this place probably 2-4x a month, if i'm feeling under the weather then definitely more than 4x. Parking can be tricky because there's really no designated parking and the side street parking can fill out fast especially on a weekend - there's a Walgreens beside it/across the street and thats your best chance of securing a spot. Now for the most important part - I LOVE THEIR PHO! Having lived in HCM for 2 years this is the closest/cleanest broth I have tried in the area, no frills. I usually get #14 which has everything EXCEPT the meatballs. Each order of pho comes with a side plate of basil, sprouts, chili, lemon/lime that you can mix into your broth. My husband loves ordering a side of their bread just to soak up all the delicious goodness. A side of shrimp roll and egg roll also works best (they don't have the best rolls but still great). On warmer days, the vermicelli bowls are your best best, clean, fresh and is loaded with chopped eggrolls, your choice of grilled protein (pork is the best) and peanuts to top it off. Pro tip - DO NOT SLEEP ON THE SATAY SAUCE. I have stopped adding the sriracha and oyster sauce to my pho broth and have instead added heaps of the satay sauce for that added kick and umami flavor. Go to drink is a large Coconut Juice - fresh and doesn't have that sweet syrup that some restaus add to their coconut juice and even comes with a few thick chunks of coconut meat, def a palate cleanser. read more

improvement on the mental and verbal abuse workers endure on a day to day basis. Being from the use of gloves to even them taking their breaks (10-15 while working a 9 hr shift), also with the health violation of not switching out gloves? (even after using restrooms) absolutely disgusting!!, lying about the tips they receive and then having a worker come and take in order while in clear distress, do not tolerate any of this!! won't ever come back!! read more

Cute little pho spot in Long Beach. One of the cleanest pho places I've ever been to, and the lack of Vietnamese on the menu suggests it's going for a gentrified demographic, but honestly it was pretty solid. The prices are very reasonable and the service was fast, and the guy who's either the owner or manager of the restaurant was friendly and checked in on us constantly to see how we enjoyed the food and even gave us tips on how to make pho tastier haha. I would recommend checking this place out and even if you've never had pho before I'm sure the owner will teach you how to enjoy pho to the max. read more

Off the bat, there is a strong mom & pop ambiance that welcomes and warms your soul as you enter. The most memorable part was the very friendly and accommodating service. Our waiter regularly checked in on us and gave us recommendations on what sauce combinations to use. The pho was very simple and clean, but left us very satisfied with our meal! Great great employees, they make you feel right at home and well taken care of with the chefs in the back cooking up some great Pho at a great price. The dining room is expansive and clean with plenty of room to feel comfortable in while eating. Came in for lunch today over the weekend. Parking here is pretty difficult, they have a lot behind the restaurant but if it's full you would have to park on the street. I found parking a block away on Anaheim and walked over. I haven't been here in years and when I walked in I was surprised by the renovations, it looked very nice and clean. I ordered the pho dac biet which had everything and it was pretty affordable compared to other places. It came piping hot, however the broth tasted very bland and watered down. I usually eat pho as it is, but I find myself having to add hoisin and sriracha to this pho. I also noticed it was missing other meats that you would usually get in a dac biet. Service was okay, I felt like other guests around me had better treatment and I was never checked on. I noticed this restaurant is owned by Cambodians, maybe their Cambodian items on the menu might be better. But for pho, I would prefer Pho 881 or driving to Little Saigon. read more

Yum. We had #8 rare steak and fatty brisket. (Large). I never saw a place w 4 sizes so they need 4 containers. She said regular size was medium but large was perfect for 2 adults and 2 children. #16 meatball noodles Spring rolls with shrimp and pork. Fattest summer rolls I've ever had. This place is legit! I love how when you order Pho you can choose between small, medium, large or X-Large! It did take a while to make my limeade boba but that was fine with me since I was walking around so it was a good to-go order. The place is small so I suggest coming during the weekday or once they open to find seating. read more

The Chicken porridge had good flavor they just used a cheap cut of drumsticks for the protein. Which was really chewy. $13.99 Last but not least was the salt and pepper squid. Do not order. The amount you receive for the price of $13.99 is not with worth it. Just a few measly strips of squid. You'll be left hungry afterwards . I usually love giving mom and pop shops my business if its worth it. All in all the food was lacking. I'd skip this place. 3 stars for the good service .

When it comes to pho, I'm super picky only because my first experience with pho sucked. So I didn't have pho after that. I was 19. Then when I was on vacation in San Jose, my friend took me to a pho restaurant and it was BOMB! I was 24. When I got back, I was on a mission to find a good pho restaurant in, or near Long Beach. Then I came across Pho Hong Phat. I loved it! It's a little hole in the wall, but those are almost always the best ones! Some pho places only have one size or two sizes at the most for the bowls they serve (at least in my experience). Pho Hong Phat has small, medium, and large. The small was big enough to fill me up and it was delicious! Some pho places over do the cilantro, but they had the perfect amount in their pho. If you prefer a lot of cilantro, you can ask for more. This is strictly a pho restaurant. If you're looking for rice, egg rolls, extra meat/veggie dishes, and such, this isn't the place for you. If you're in the area on a cold rainy day, Pho Hong Phat definitely hits the spot. read more

This is another one of my favorite places to go to with my parents when growing up in Long Beach, before it got really popular as it is now. The good thing is that their pho is still as good as I remember. I'm glad that they're doing well and able to spruce up the place a little bit. I usually choose between the rare meat or beef ball pho. Both come with a good amount of meat. The broth is the best, and it's what sets it apart from other pho joints, somehow they make the broth rich and flavorful. I would always ask for the dough sticks, if they are available, and soak it in the broth and nom away. They only make one batch a day, and usually runs out by late morning. What I have noticed a couple of times though, is that if you go later on in the day some time before they close, it isn't as flavorful, as if it is watered down and an attempt to have more broth. read more

This place is my go-to! Unless of course it's Wednesday (closed) and I really really need pho. They only have pho here and I can understand why, they make the perfect pho and that's their main focus. I always ask for my beef of the side because it allows you to dip it in moments before you're ready to eat it, creating a fondue like vibe that doesn't over cook your meat. To me, it's all about the broth which is nice and flavorful, not transparent like some places. They give it to you in the perfect proportion too. Some restaurants give you little to none leaving you with nothing but a bowl of noodles. I know they also make it fresh daily which is great because other pho spots that don't, tend to use a lot of star anise (a licorice type spice) that masks the awful smell of old pho soup. read more

OKAY GUYS. All pho tastes pretty much the same, some places make them bad, some places make them right. You know? Sure they differ from restaurant to restaurants, but you know it's pho when you're eating it. AND THEN I DISCOVERED PHO HONG PHAT. This pho place sets itself from ALL the pho places in the surrounding areas. It has amazing pho and it's also so different. When you try the broth, you know you're eating pho, but ... is it really pho?! Everyone has to try this place, right now! There is a downside to this place though; the parking is HORRIBLE. Holy crap I wish this place had bigger parking and a bigger place. I'm going to take away half a star for that, so since I can't give 4.5 stars, I'm rounding up to 5 stars. ;) read more

really good food, generous portion, I loved it. I walked out thinking of coming back on a cold rainy day with people I care. Until I took another sip of the ice coffee as I walked out of the restaurant, I spat a 1.5cm long cockroach soaked in coffee on Walgreen's parking lot where my car was parted at. I immediately went to Walgreen's and got myself a bottle of water and a gigantic bar of Ghirardelli peppermint chocolate to forget the texture of the bug. But it's no use. This place has the best Pho in town, and perhaps the whole SoCal. The broth is spectacular, and you can't find the same taste anywhere else. What I love most is that for the 4+ years I've been going here, the clientele has grown a lot BUT the quality remains the same.. My favorite is the beef ball pho, and this is one of the few places where there is no cartilage in the balls.. People who have eaten this before know what I mean. If you're looking for a job that makes you work 9 hours only gives you a 10-15 min break for the whole day, pays you only 120 a day and the owner STEALS and DEMANDS all your tips that customers give to you then this is your place ! (: I've never felt like I've been stared at and judged by someone so much ! He's so rude by scolding you and telling you have no common sense he also expects you to memorize all regular customers orders right away ! Nothing fancy and that's not what I'm there for- I'm there for a great bowl of soup. . Find me every Sunday morning Large no 1 extra steak and bread. The BEST Pho in Long Beach / Hands down. Order served in a couple of minutes. These guys do it right.... If you're in for a Pho experience, then this is the place for you. They serve nothing much but Pho. Not bad- Meat broth, few meat slices, bean sprouts, mint leaves. You just have limited choices, so if you're the picky type, don't bother. Aside from their parking that really sucks, they close early. The prices don't cost that much. I loved my chicken stir-fry with veggies. The white rice was perfectly fluffy. I would order this dish again! At the end, our server brought us little cups of a green tapioca pudding. I believe it's made with pandan or some type of neutral-tasting bean. It's sweetened though, and it was honestly a nice little touch, compliments of the house. The cleanliness of this establishment has scared me straight to the point where I've removed this spot from my usual rotation. This sucks because I truly loved the food from China Chef but I can't eat a combo from here in good conscience while knowing that the food might still be prepared in an unsanitary manner.
