This is a great lunch spot. The food is delicious and cooked to order. I frequent here for lunch to go and sit down. Either way they take care of you and you get satisfaction

Me, my wife and my sister decided to try Pho Houston for lunch. Once we entered. Staff were extremely efficient with seating us although the staff was efficient I will say I didn't feel a nice welcoming and also while ordering I felt rushed and kind of like a nuisance. The atmosphere felt nice music placed and the smell of pho was in the air. Pho Houston had many options from sandwiches ,pho rice, and protein, platters, and lots of appetizers, including spring rolls and egg rolls. I ordered a large chicken for a beef Bahn mi a pork Bahn mi and a shrimp vermicelli bowl that came with an egg-roll. Starting with the chicken pho the broth was extremely rich, but had an over powering flavor of ginger which hindered the the rest of the flavor the broth had to offer the chicken didn't seem to be breast but rather than thighs that were inside the pho which different from pho I had previously even though the chicken had an amazing flavor and the broth and chicken paired nicely together. Moving on to my beef. Bahn mi which was extremely pleasing the meat was cooked to perfection and had a touch of sweetness that was balanced out by the savoriness of the marinate that it was placed in before being cooked the pickled Daikon and carrots mixed with the jalapeños and cilantro that were also in the sandwich, elevated the sandwich to a whole Nother level. The bread was also extremely fluffy yet crisp on the outside, allow for a Crunch for every bite. The pork Bahn mi was even better. The pork was seasoned so well and so tender and salty the toppings balanced the savory mess of the pork bahn mi quite well. And finally the shrimp vermicelli bowl which was my favorite the noodles and vegetables were so fresh which paired extremely well with the shrimps the shrimp was very fresh as well and tased quite nice and to top it all off an egg roll was also served with the bowl it was piping hot and so crunchy yet soft and the filling on the inside was seasons quite well and tasted fresh a sauce was also paired with it which went quite nicely it was sweet and balanced the egg roll really well. Inside there was also other customers and it was pretty packed for lunch time. That being said I believe that Pho Houston is a pretty busy during lunch. All and all I will say that pho Houston was a pleasure to visit. I also want to highlight the Vietnamese coffee which was extremely delightful. It tasted like a Hershey's bar had met coffee beans and the consistency was very smooth almost like chocolate milk. This coffee was definitely the best part of pho Houston and we will definitely be back.

    Burnt pieces in grill beef

Order 3 x Grill Beef. 1/3 of the meat was burnt. Also spend half an hour picking out the burnt pieces out of the meat. The meat was full of these stuff, which tastes just like burnt charcoal. And I'm certain will cause cancer. My mom said this is caused by chef not cleaning the pot between dishes.

Been here now 4x in the last 1 1/2 week... Everything that I've had here so far, are excellent. Growing up close to "little Saigon" in Orange County, Ca. I'm spoiled in having vietnamese restaurants/cafe, everywhere and did I mention that we have places there that are 24/7! Lol From pho, vermicelli plate, fried rice to my fave, Vietnamese sandwich. They were ALL good(to my opinion) my weight will attest to this,

The service and food is always amazing when I come to this restaurant! The staff is friendly and the food comes out fast

    Pork eggrolls are delicious!

Wow! This place is really awesome! First, I appreciate the early hours, I usually eat lunch at 10 due to my early working hours. So the hours are much appreciated. I ordered the eggrolls which I ate every single one. They were pork, which was even better. A lot of places add shrimp to their eggroll mix, I can't have shrimp so this was a great surprise. Next, I custom ordered a bowl of Pho, instead of the reg meat I ordered grilled beef and it was excellent!!! Everything about my experience today was great. Thanks to all the staff, keep up the great work!!

This is located only 5 mins from my job, and I found it through reading Yelp reviews. My fellow reviewers were completely correct as the pho is delicious and plentiful, service is very nice, there's plenty of parking on the back, and the food comes out quickly after you order which is important when you have to get back to work. I've paid more for phos of lesser quality at many places so cheers to this amazing place and the nice family running it. The broth is splendid and flavorful, the beef is tender and non fatty, and the noodles are on point. The XL bowl is huge and at $14 is more than fair. Add a soda for $1.50, and you have a filling meal for the whole day. Do yourself a favor and go there today

Pho with all the meats and beef and shrimp rice

Amazing food and service. The portions are huge and the meat was so juicy and tender. The restaurant is also very clean and inviting

As always, love the broadway decor and music- plus the tables and chairs set the nostalgia. Pork Bao's are normally my daughter fave but the soup dumplings here are her favorite. She could finish an order on her own. The service is always great. The order goes straight to the kitchen and you can add as you go if wanted. I always thought that was pretty cool. The owner came out to say hello and ask how everything is. She even brought out a small bowl of soup for my baby to enjoy. The waitress was also very sweet and attentive. I don't live close by but will make the trip when the craving hits. Today was one of those days. The last time I was here there was no ac and not enough seating. This time it was nice and cool in and well as having new seating! For more standard fare the Mongolian beef is good, sour soup, scallion pancakes good, green beans too. Fried rice was only thing that was somewhat disappointing. It wasn't bad but just ok compared to how good everything else they serve. Definitely try it out

Not many restaurants in Houston offer Takowasa, which is marinated raw octopus with wasabi; and when we find one that does, it's our must order for appetizers. We also ordered the chicken karaage and agedashi tofu. The karaage was juicy and slightly larger than the size of popcorn chicken. The tofu was soft and lightly battered, however the downside is that it gets soggy quickly since it's sitting in the sauce rather than on the side. For our entrees, we got the carbonara, curry tonkatsu rice, niku tama ankake, and kakuni udon. The carbonara was nice and creamy. The curry rice tastes exactly like the Japanese box curry. The niku tama is more of a thicker soup base similar to egg drop soup, however has a more slightly sweet umami flavor. The kakuni udon had a lighter broth with braised pork belly. The service was a bit slow here, but we didn't mind it too much. The interior had a cute traditional Japanese style decor. Overall, we enjoyed our meal and we'll be back to try other udons.

The tubs of ice filled with cold drinks all around as you approach the counter was casual and fun. And the staff was welcoming and friendly. The menu had so much variety, without being overwhelming. Anything from a good pazole, to a brisket Rueben, to an American Italian sandwich! I got the báhn mì sandwich, which was bursting with flavor! The pork was seasoned well and had good flavor from the marinade. The cilantro, pickled onions, jalapeno, all were so fresh and vibrant! And I was able to get homemade chips and fresh strawberries as my side - such a refreshing bite the strawberries after a rich, porky, spicy bite from the sandwich. Can't say enough good! A big part of the decades long success at Local Foods has been their commitment to consistency…read more Their casual setting with excellent service is one thing, but quality executed food that is simple and seasonal will always go a long way. Before their recent expansions to Austin, it all began here in Rice Village exactly 15 years ago. The vibes are contemporary and casual, with the kind of space that fits for just about any scenario. Whether it's a solo meal, a lunch date, or a group led affair, the experience is almost always an excellent one. Start by ordering at the counter and find a seat where the food will brought directly to the table. So much of their variety caters to all sorts of dietary restrictions from vegan to gluten free to nut free. Their spicy crispy brussels sprouts ($10) are a nice starter, as is the squash "onion" rings ($12). The local power bowl ($16) is a classic and I've always enjoyed the brown rice and quinoa combo. Their chicken "posolé" is solid, and I love the large hominy bits along with the clear but green tint of a broth. The chicken shawarma bowl ($20) is an interesting mix that includes pickled beets and strawberries, along with their market cheddar burger ($17) and fabulous twice cooked fries. The carrot cupcake is strangely addicting, and I think their gluten free brownie is a bit of a sleeper. Some of their items didn't jive with me previously, such as an underwhelming cashew queso ($9), a semi-laughable Vietnamese steak bowl ($22), and their semi-gringo version of a banh mi ($15). It's not that these items are bad per se, but they definitely don't live up to the same standard that I feel their other dishes do best. Where they hit the biggest home run is their customer service. Everyone working behind the counter does their best to deliver and they almost always do by staying on top of refills, cleanups, and customer greets. I've always enjoyed my experiences here and look forward to every visit.
