Pho dac biet (accidentally mixed before photo)

Fairly soild pho. The broth is good but lighter so I add the fish sauce that's provided on the table. They give generous amounts of meat. The service is good which is why I come back :)

    Pho Bac

This pho hit the spot every time I'm craving for pho. They used to be super busy but not sure why it's not as busy no more. But their pho tastes just as good and they're generous with the amount of meats in their bowl.

This establishment has been here for so long and it's one of my go-to pho place in El Monte! Location: It's located on Garvey Ave. Parking: They have a small designated parking area. Entrance is on the side street. Ambience: Typical Vietnamese pho restaurant. It's very spacious and can accommodate a large group. Pho: I think they have the best Pho Bac, which is the file mignon pho that is served in a steel bowl. All the other pho is good to, but Pho Bac is my favorite item from here. Drinks: They have all kinds of delicious drink. My favorite from here is their penny-worth drink. Overall: I've been coming to this place for the past 15 years! Highly recommend it if you're local and want to try out local food from here.

    Pho tai

It was sooo bad! I ordered pho tai- well done meat & cooked noodle, I asked for oil and onion(from my experience- they put it on the side) I didn't find the oil- but now realize that they put the oil directly inside my pho... I've never had any pho restaurant do that & I've been to many pho restaurants I couldn't even pick up the noodles w my chopstick bc it was so hard. The meat was bloody. I do not recommend this place!

Came for breakfast and my pho was delicious. They also have some sides at the counter that you can buy to bring back to the table to eat. My pho came with a lot of meat so that was a + but not enough noodles haha. Overall: Will return when craving pho for breakfast

The Hojicha Pudding in the Iron Buddha Oolong Milk Tea is a solid standard. But the Ube Taro Mochi Green Milk Tea?! HELLOOOO. Hella yum! I got both at 30% sweet and 50% ice, and I'm so glad I did because it balanced the pudding and that rich ube taro mochi paste perfectly. I fear full sweetness might be a little much, but I'm an old Asian who believes desserts should be "not too sweet." Lololol Service was friendly, the shop is cute, and I loved the cute lighting and tea wall. I live about an hour away and I would genuinely consider making the drive back JUST for this tea!

(+)- there are weekly BOGO deals (tip- check Instagram as it varies from store to store) I also visited Summerfield near Rosemead/Valley that same weekend and felt that it was more comfortable / had more seating albeit they do not have a BOGO deal like Formosa does.

Came here with three other friends on a saturday afternoon. Josh created the most immaculate vibes in his lovely home and put together such a thoughtful, delicious food/coffee pairing with his partner, Mei. He was also incredibly knowledgeable about coffee and we learned so much from him from brewing methods to his favorite cafes in LA. The service was next level! Additionally, every course was memorable and some highlights include the cold brew, the biscuits (perfectly buttery), the plum juice inspired palette cleanser, and the espresso take on boba milk tea. I would totally come back to try their new season. There isn't any comparable experience in the world.

Coffee omakase for a society obsessed with $8 lattes and cold brew, hear me out…read more Ahma opens as an invitation to experience the utilitarian drink as something slower and more intentional, challenging the palate while expanding your understanding of how coffee without the blanket of cream or milk could actually taste. Josh and Mei create the coziest intimate space in their San Gabriel home. Like stepping into your best friend's place who happens to work in fine dining and be a coffee expert. There are different Seasons to Ahma and for this particular one, Taiwan is the Muse and coffee is its medium. My limited discernment between good coffee and bad coffee is acidity--sour and bitter, bleh. Or watered down. I don't douse my coffee with milk (anymore) because of lactose intolerance. But here, Coffee can be strong and bold, or brewed to possess properties that taste more like tea. And decaf (!) could have notes of whiskey without any of its alcohol. Particular care has been given to serve your cold brew in a frozen glass, or hot pour over in a warm pink cup. Josh has all the latest gadgets if you are into the coffee scene. But even if you're not, observing him brew you an espresso is an act of joy, not the beleaguered coffee pot in the workplace break room, but sharing in something worth its time and precision and experience. But because this is coffee, there is also something interesting to pair with it. A blooming osmanthus jelly, translucent and floral and fragrant. A delightfully nutty and buttery biscuit, its recipe took five years to perfect, with pineapple wintermelon jelly and delicate egg yolk shavings. A fried popcorn chicken cutlet with Thai basil pesto sandwich with just the right amount of crunch. The total amount of caffeine came in just about 2 cups of coffee, and I left pretty satisfied, but this being San Gabriel, grabbed some dim sum to go afterwards. The experience was 2.5 hours, and there were a total of 4 guests served at a time. The menu changes periodically and they will return in October if you want to try the next Season.

The only thing I would note is that the lychee flavor is not really there - I'd consider this a regular espresso tonic instead of a lychee-forward one. I also appreciated that they asked whether he wanted sugar at all rather than assuming a default sweetness level. It was actually his first time having a hojicha latte unsweetened, and he really enjoyed it. The space itself is pretty bare-bones, so I wouldn't necessarily come here for the super aesthetic cafe experience. But it's comfortable and functional - there's a row of bench seating with tables and chairs opposite it. The seats are actually padded, which makes it a nice spot to sit for a chat, or to get some work done. Street parking was plentiful when we went, and I believe there's also a small attached lot. There was also a baker set up on-site when we stopped by. They were selling things like salt bread and sandwiches, so of course we grabbed something to support them. I thought that was such a cute touch and would love to see more local cafes doing little collaborations like this.
