I've tried a couple of pho places around sgv, but this is by far the best place to get your pho tai/bac fix. They load up your bowl with a generous amount of meat. Their veggies are actually fresh, I usually have to pick certain pieces of the veggies to put in my bowl because they look old, but not here. Bad service but great tasting chopped "off cut / trimming" of Filet Mignon Pho. It's expensive and only serves Pho and nothing else but they are good at it. Service is terrible but not the worst I have seen. Here is a little secret their Filet Mignon meat are actually more like trimmings off from a Filet Mignon medallion because the meat is inconsistently cut, taste, and color. Ask them to give you the meat separately and cook it yourself and you usually will end up with better trims of meat, less fat less ligaments and tendons. read more

Best Pho I ever had. This is a pretty interesting place. They open at 7AM. It was around 8:30AM when I went here and there was a lot of people inside. I don't think they have any waitresses here. There were a bunch of gangstery looking Asian guys dressed in normal clothes taking orders. Maybe this is where they all went after the Orion closed down? After ordering they served the food super fast. I think it was probably less then 2 minutes. I always order rare steak when I get Pho but it's usually never rare when they serve it. Here it was rare which was a nice surprise. The bowl was perfect. A lot of meat and noodles all packed in there pretty tight. Dr. Greenthumb would be proud. Also there was barely any fat on the meat. The sprouts are clean and look very fresh, white and pure. You can request a metal bowl here. I think I want to try that out next time. I want to give them 4 stars for not having any chick waitresses but since Kim Jon-il is dead I will be nice and give them 5. read more

I ordered Pho Bac to go twice from here. When I went home and opened it, the beefs looked dead purple. For dine in, you'd never know what kind of beefs they put in your bowl :) Anyway I drove back and showed them but they gave me an ugly attitude. I'll never come back to this place again. read more

Had to try this pho restaurant after seeing the LA Weekly post from 2012 as #2! After visiting Vietnam and enjoying pho bac in Hanoi, we didn't enjoy the dish here. While it was nice that they had the Chinese donuts on the menu (although at a charge) for dipping into the pho, the broth almost had no flavor outside the small bits of ginger. We almost wanted to ask for fish sauce, but the broth also was quite oily. Maybe the broth was due to the time we arrived for a late-lunch (2 PM)... Bathroom also was quite dirty (no more paper towels, sink was clogged with pieces from a previous dish - puke?), probably one of the reasons why for the Health Score B rating. read more

I love Pho Huynh. They have Vietnamese authentic Pho. I love the Pho Bac Filet the most. They have this interesting Pho bowl that traps the heat inside the bowl leaving it Hot until you finish the last drop of Pho. If I ever want Pho, this is the only place I would recommend. The other Pho places are not that special, they all have the same old boring type of noodle with beef broth. If you ever want to see what real Pho should taste like, definitely try this place out if you are in town! read more

Another morning another breakfast. However it's pho that's calling me and that's what we had. The beef bowls came in giant steelware that was as big as my head. The crumbled beef was lovely and the broth was very good as well. The noodles were silky and plentiful. They do have lots of minced ginger on top so be warned if you don't like ginger. Nice table settings and with the exception of pesky flies near the back door, it was relatively clean. What docked me down the stars racket was the fact that I found a hair embedded in my beef bits! Nasty! I knew it couldnt have been mine cause it was definitely sticking out of a beef ball, ewww! After that I couldn't eat my bowl anymore. T_T. read more

Not vegan or vegetarian friendly. It's 11:45AM and they're sold out of their tofu spring rolls??? So I tried constantly to order the vegetable noodle soup (uses beef broth) but they didn't understand what I meant even though I pointed at it on the menu. Later I was told they didn't have that either. So in the end I resorted to a plain noodle soup. I made a mistake by coming here. My wife and I had been wanting to try out Pho Huynh given the rave reviews on here. When we finally went this past weekend, we were less than thrilled. We found the pho to be bland, at best. There simply was no flavor in the broth, the meat was plopped in the bowl and all stuck together. There was little effort to have any presentation done. Neither one of us finished our pho. Needless to say, we were disappointed. In fairness to the place, most in the restaurant seemed to enjoy their pho. With all of the pho places in the San Gabriel Valley, it's hard to find one that is really good. I really enjoyed the Pho Bac, had Northern Vietnamese style a few times, and this is one of the better ones that I've had. Love the simple menu, service is fast, and when you're finished you go up to the cashier and let them know which table number you were at. They have the check there and it's Cash Only. Parking is available in the back or on the street. I will be back. read more

Check in... And Check out for good. Literally the only good thing was the fancy looking menus. Everything else made me regret even trying this place. Coming into a Vietnamese pho place, I didn't have high expectations for the service. This place disappointed. The waiter that took out order seemed very impatient.... The restaurant messed up our order. Pho tai became tai nam. Pho bac... Their "house special", was lacking in flavor. For those trying it, it comes with thick noodles instead of the things banh pho. Attempted to order extra noodles cause the pho bac didn't fill me up, and even though the menu clearly said $. 50, but nope, waiter said $2.50. Oh and parking lot was full. Dude the hype is REAL. Came in this morning for some breakfast and honestly I didn't expect it to be that great even though everyone raves about this place. Ordered pho filet and I swear it came out within 20 seconds. Faster than clark kent changing into Superman. The metal bowl kept the pho hot longer than the regular bowls so that is a super plus for me. i freaking love the thick noodles and the ginger inside. I need to go back asap. Inside was clean. Pho was good, not the best I had though. Portion was small, even for the large size we ordered.

Not a great first impression when I walked in there were customers but at when I walked set down the table next to me hadn't been cleaned up yet I didn't get to look at the bathrooms or anything else it was decently clean I guess my biggest complaint is the food it really was poor quality of the product has no flavor as other people say I've eaten far for years and it was barely any flavor is almost just noodles in water with the Hino the typical stuff thrown in the vegetables they give you like wilted like there a couple days old half the meat was it was OK some pieces some pieces were Without much flavor I gave her one just because there was nothing impressive about this restaurant and that's it's the worst fight I've ever tasted I mean absolutely flavorless soggy noodles and a wilted vegetables read more

This is your place to get a simple pho fix. I usually get pho tai, but sometimes i get the fatty pieces too. The pieces are hit and miss; sometimes they're just slabs of fat but sometimes they're really good pieces of brisket. Hopefully you don't need a menu because I've been here probably 20+ times and have never seen customers actually use them. i dont see how this place can get more than 3-4 stars. the broth they use is almost bland and theyre stingy with the bean sprouts, which arent too fresh. i ordered the number 1. it wasnt bad, they were pretty generous with the meat, but it really didnt taste like anything extraordinary. if i was in the area, id stop by, but i wont go out of my way to go here again. read more

Any place that only has Pho dishes on their menu and is very busy almost all the time has to be good right? Absolutely!! No rice, egg rolls, spring rolls, congee, bun, banh mi, etc. Pho and a variety of it is all they have. And they are damn good at it. One of your quick in-n-out meal kind of place, with affordable prices. My favorite, Pho Bac (Pho with medium flat noodles and filet mignon meat). I also ask for extra ginger, onions, and ngoc bao (did I spell that right?!) that flavor oil that comes with green onions. Usually the waiters are ready to take your order as soon as you sit down, so if you are in a hurry and know what you want, you can be in and out of here in under 30 min. Fair warning, parking is limited and this place gets busy. read more

I feel like throughout the years it has changed but its still good none the less, just not over the top good. However, I think I did order the wrong pho the last time I came here.. I. Love. Pho. Huynh. Pho dac biet with a side of pickled raw onions always does the trick. The broth isn't a dark color and oily like most other pho spots. The meat and noodles are plentiful and go so well with the side of onions mixed with a bit of hoisin, schiracha sauce, and lime juice. Their service is FAST. Place your order, grab and wipe down your utensils and be ready to chow down cause just like that, your food is ready. ** Stop looking, this is your hang over remedy people. *oh ya, pho filet has nothing on pho huynh. This place is really fast. Like, extremely. I like going here when there's a huge crater in my stomach, but I also am not a fan because everything is supposed to taste better when you're starving, but this place doesn't meet that requirement. I've only ever tried their pho and don't really know what else there is on the menu. I've had their pho bac (chopped beef chunks) and their pho bo vien (meatballs), as well as their pho tai (rare beef flanks). Without a doubt, the meats do not disappoint. I've eaten at places where they skimp out on good quality meat and serve the cheapest kinds. Not here, though. You can always count on their thinly sliced tender beefs and their whole quality meatballs (with tendon pieces intact!). But as a place that thrives on serving pho, their broth is so poorly made. It's like they only boiled up some beef or pork stock and let it simmer before they threw in some chives, basil, mints, and the noodles. It's so void of flavour that it's really unpleasant to eat. I like drinking the broth while slurping up the noodles and devouring the meat, but I cant do that here. It really tastes just like oily water. And because the broth is the most vital component in any pho dish, I have to give them a measly three stars. read more
