Once you get inside the decor matches the outside al la 1970's bingo hall. The food is what people come here for, and the prices are awesome as well. I almost always get the #10 Pho and a Thai tea. It's the one with all the crazy meats most people turn their up at. Tripe!! Mmm chewy!! At lunch usually I go early at 11:15 or so and the Pho comes out quickly. I wolf down the hot soupy goodness and escape like I stole the Sriracha. I tried the egg rolls once and they were delicious and fresh. Don't care about trendy decor? What a find in a very nondescript strip shopping mall! The Pho Ga (minus the chicken in the bowl :)) for me was very tasty and the fresh jalepeno and basil perked it right up as anticipated! My colleagues enjoyed the meat fest #10 minus the tripe... Busy lunch crowd but we were quickly seated at 12:45pm. Parking is abit limited though. The small bowl size is just right. I don't like Vietnamese food but came here at the suggestion of a coworker. Boy was I missing some seriously good food! Their spring rolls are very good. They have a nice crunch to them. But the star of this show is the pho. I like the one with thin sliced beef, beef balls and beef tendon. Definitely get a large bowl because it will stuff you. Their house made hot chili oil is awesome. 2 spoonfuls in a large bowl of pho get my nose running and I absolutely love it. Service is great. Go enough and the wait staff remembers your order. They always keep your water topped off. Judging by the regulars we see there, something good is happening. This place is probably the most authentic pho spot in Tampa, and it's situated in what feels like little Vietnam (in the best way possible). We visited from out of town and came here twice for lunch and loved it! They serve family specials here (Cm Gia Đình) and the prices are great. The family specials take about 40 minutes to prepare, especially during work hours because it appears to be close to many other offices and they have a smaller kitchen. Portions are huge too! I was a little disappointed they didn't have veggie pho but they had a vegetarian menu so I got the spicy stir fry with lemon grass and tofu one day and the noodle stir fry with bean sprouts the next day. I enjoyed both and ate everything! I probably enjoyed the tofu with lemon grass a bit more. I also tried Vietnamese coffee for the first time and it was delicious! I was clearly missing out on amazing coffee this entire time. We ordered spring rolls as an appetizer, and it was really fresh with veggies and cilantro. The peanut sauce was amazing. Mmmmm I'm not sure what the hype is, it's just your regular Vienamese restaurant. Fried chicken wings that everyone posted-- have you ever had chicken wings from a Chinese restaurant? Because those salt and pepper fried chicken wings trump these for sure. What I had was some fried but also kinda flavorless chicken wings, nothing special. Pho/noodle bowls- the small is kinda the regular price you would pay for any other Vienamese restaurant, but the amount is def less. I had the spicy beef noodle bowl and the amount of the noodle is literally just one big chopsticks hold, that's it, the other ingredients- hock, blood, and meatballs, one each. I mean WHAT??? They discriminate those with disabilities here. My mom, friend, and I attempted to dine here today and we were denied service because I did not provide them with documentation of my disability and service dog. I stated that the ADA does not allow staff to inquire about my disability or require identification for the dog and directed him to ada.gov's website. I was informed that it's a Florida law. The staff member told me that they were fined for allowing undocumented service dogs so now they require all service dogs to have an identification card. The staff offered to call the owner and ask for permission. 18 minutes later, the staff person came back and said no. I know the staff member is full of hot air and diarrhea. Florida does not have a law requiring documentation or an identification card for my service dog. I also know that discrimination hurts. It's embarrassing to have people stare and point fingers at you, and then to be turned away as if you're in the wrong just because you're different. I will not recommend this restaurant. I recommend Tasty Pho down the street. read more

Came down to Clearwater with the family for a week-long beach vacation and I knew we would end up craving some Vietnamese food. This restaurant ended up being one of the highest rated Vietnamese restaurants in the area. It's located in a small, old shopping center in what I assume is a predominately Vietnamese community. There's a banh mi restaurant next door and a Vietnamese grocery store. We came for lunch on a Friday afternoon and they were packed, but it's a large restaurant with plenty of seating so we were sat right away. The service is typical Asian quality so very bare bones but they were nice enough. Menu was plentiful with good amount of the standard options. Prices ranged from $8-$10 per entree. I went with the spring rolls and found them lackluster. Meat wasn't fresh and the lettuce tasted dry. My bun bo hue was better but could definitely have used more flavor. I like that they included blood cakes and a pork feet to keep it authentic. Rest of my family enjoyed their noodle dishes. My mom thought the rice dishes were better at another restaurant down the street (review to follow!). Overall, it satisfied our cravings and we left full. we did take out. It was so busy inside so I was excited to see what all the fuss was about. We ordered the Tai Pho and were immediately struck by the aroma of the broth upon opening it. As I took my first sip, the flavors exploded in my mouth. The broth was rich and savory, with just the right amount of spice to give it an extra kick. Huge portion sizes for cheap. Major four takeaways (this actually started as major two takeaways but as I wrote the review I kept remembering more important facts), the outside looks super sketch (it is much nicer inside), bring cash because your meal may cost less than $10 (which is their credit card minimum), service can be slow, just don't be afraid to flag people down (and in my case, we loved the slow service because we were catching up) and the pho is huge and satisfying. One major lesson I learned is even though it is only 75 cents to get a large, if you aren't going to eat that much just don't do it. I ate all the meat and took home the noodles and broth for lunch the next day. It does not taste as good the next day. Of course, this isn't their fault since they make it hot and it should be eaten right away, but now I know that I don't like leftover pho! OUTSIDE: If you have friends who are afraid about being mugged, give them a heads up that it is much nicer inside than outside. I told my friends this (since I read all your reviews like a good Yelper does) and I STILL received a text saying that the outside looked scary when my first friend pulled up. She did send a second text saying that the inside was much better. Maybe it wasn't my best life choice to choose this place to meet a friend who has a two-year-old, but once you get inside you'll feel better! I'm helping to build that two-year-old's character. SERVICE: Yes, service can be slow. Honestly I didn't notice because we were a super slow table. I did upgrade 75 cents for the large, but like I said at the beginning I probably won't do that again because I've learned that pho isn't made to be leftovers. I did take a picture of the large and regular side by side so you can see. The regular is perfectly big enough. The pho was great. I got the number 11 (please don't make me type out the name) and it was amazing. I loved all the meet that was included. Yes, there was tons of fat on certain pieces, but I am a huge fat lover. PRICE: It's cheap! For $11 (including tip) I got a large bowl of pho that lasted me two days. That's legit. I really like this place. In terms of the deliciousness of the pho and the price point, Pho Kien Giang is definitely one of the best pho restaurant in town! The pho here is dirt cheap, averaging only about $9 for a LARGE! What I particularly love about this place is how you can replace the ingredients in the pho for an extra of something else. I am not a huge fan of meatballs and they are always wasted on me. But at Pho Kien Giang, I can replace the meatballs with extra marble brisket. What a steal! The service here is lightening fast and servers are extremely friendly. Reason for 3 stars was the dining area has been ignored. The window blinds behind us had multiple and I mean multiple spots of food on them, (I'm guessing it was food???). The salt & pepper shakers looked as though they had not been wiped off in months, actually had tiny pieces of food, salt & pepper on them. Looked like the dining area could use a deep cleaning.
