The service was good, I called in to ask if they could get my phone going before I arrived due to ny lunch being so short, they said yes but just the one-time. Totally understandable. The pho itself was okay, a little too salty, not much flavor. The place was homie, a lot of merchandise with their name on it. The service today at this restaurant was a bit disappointing. I've been in a couple times before when it wasn't busy and had a decent experience. Today, I walked in pregnant and holding hands with my 3yr old son and waited to be greeted and seated. It was busier than normal. As I was waiting, two firemen walked in behind me. The man working the counter immediately greeted them and proceeded to try and seat them before me. When I spoke up and said, "I've been waiting" the two firemen left and I stood their still waiting while the man working the register walked to the kitchen in the back and walked out with food to serve and completely ignored me. As I waited, a businessman walked in and asked if I was waiting for a table. I said "Yes" and not too shortly after he walked in, he was greeted and seated immediately. The cowardly businessman said nothing to the worker to indicate I had been waiting before him. Lastly, a woman and her daughter walked in and waited behind me. Finally, the host walked over and acknowledged my presence, but proceeded to ask the woman behind me how many she had in her party (6) and then asked me (2). To my surprise, he was contemplating who to seat first and just as I realized he was going to seat the other woman before me I said "No, we're going to sit at a table since we've been waiting here for a while". The unfortunate and very obvious circumstances that I could not ignore is that everyone that walked in after me and was greeted, was Caucasian and I am not. I've been going here for years, and honestly never had a bad experience. It is my husband's favorite place to eat HANDS DOWN in the area! And with a lot of gluten-free options, a big hit with my extended family as well. Ken is an absolute delight, as pictured here with our newborn. Wow, I'm so glad I came here with my family on our way back from to San Jose from Tahoe. Every dish we ordered from egg rolls, to spring rolls, to the pho, to tacos, were delicious. The cherry on top was the amazing gelato which surprised us because the food was already authentically legit. I ended up doing a 4 hour drive over the mountains from Reno back to CA due to a snow storm and was massively hungover so obviously needed to stop for pho. Randomly found this place in auburn and it was great!! The egg rolls were so crispy and fresh and I love that they offered it holly style with all the veggies!!! I'm not sure if you can ask for that at regular pho restaurants (I've never tried) but I've never seen it on the menu. The pho was good but it had some sort of scent/flavor I wasn't used to in pho. Can't put a finger on what it is but definitely some sort of additional ingredient in there that I wasn't used to. Still good though. Staff was kind. Tons of seating. One thing to note though is that it's cash only. There's an ATM inside but obviously going to get fees added on. If I ever find myself needing pho in auburn again I'll know where to go! The wonton soup with extra wonton noodles is my go to. They have the soup deconstructed for takeout. Tons of noodles come with it and the broth is amazing! I know the Business name sounds crazy but it's exactly how you pronounce it "Fa-King-Good". I don't like cursing but this gets me every time I drive by. Now onto the food. My second time eating here and experience has been great. Both time I had the Pho Soups which is what they're known for. Service was very fast even with a restaurant almost full during lunch hour. Our favorite place! We frequent about once a week, it's that pho king good! Order the Dang Curry Beef Stew, so packed with flavor, tender chunks of beef, veggies and medium boiled eggs. Such great flavors. I'm not sure why they have curry in the name, I detect zero curry in the flavor. My husband always gets the rare beef pho or the chicken pho. Both are delicious but order an extra side of noodles for your leftover broth and you might want to add veggies and won tons if you want a more substantial meal. In the summer or when you're not in the mood for something hot try Mike's Vermicelli Salad with shrimp, so crisp and delicious. For appetizers the pot stickers and spring rolls with peanut sauce are super yummy! I appreciate that they have gluten free options and I've never had a gluten exposure there, just make sure to make your server aware, they are knowledgeable about what is GF and what is not. Food was ok but I'm really not happy how I double tipped (40%) accidentally. They add automatic gratuity to bigger tables. We had 3 adults and 3 kids.... (4 dishes and an appetizer) Make sure you look at your check carefully. Was in the area for a visit and found this Pho house. It was so good we came here twice so we could try more menu options. The food was fresh, homemade, colorful and plated beautifully. When I go to Pho King Good, I always feel Pho King happy! And I really didn't get the name until I I wrote it in this review. Now I love it even more. I was able to order off the menu because the place is 100% authentic. Best of all, when you come in, they treat you like you're part of the Pho King family. The last time I came in I was nearing the end of a long road trip. It was dinner time, the weather was getting out of sorts and traffic was miserable. After recently moving here from Sacramento I was in the hunt for a new phone spot. I've heard great things about Pho King Good and gave it a shot. They looked fairly busy and the waitress even said it may take awhile. I was by myself and it took 10 minutes to get my pho. I ordered the rare pho. I took a few bites. The rare meat disintegrated in my mouth which was not good, the flavor of the broth was terrible. After 3 bites I left my cash (they only take cash which isn't great) and walked out. The staff, or our server, wish I caught his name. So fun and spunky. We were descending on Auburn and wanted something good to eat. Out comes the iPhone and Yelp had Pho King Good as one of the suggested places. We enter and get motioned to one of the tables by the amiable owner. Since it was hotter than the hinges of hades outside we decided that we were in the mood for Bun and ordered the most tricked out version they offer, the Bun Dac Biet. It comes with pork, shrimp, egg rolls and a fried egg on top. All the components of the bun were delicious! The pork was nicely seasoned as were the shrimp and the tasty egg roll. The fish sauce was the piece de resistance as it was chock full of flavorful chunky goodness. **During Quarantine Review: April 2021** When my friend said that she wanted to dine at a Vietnamese restaurant in Auburn I had my suspicions especially since I live near one of the largest Vietnamese populations outside of Little Saigon! (That's Westminster, CA for those who were wondering) and Auburn isn't known for a robust Vietnamese population lol Nevertheless, I went and was surprised by the quality of their offerings. What we ordered: -Spring Rolls: Standard. Nothing special, but it was solid -Bahn Mi Fries: Wow, I loved the flavors and everything about this dish! The fries were nice a crispy on the bottom, and the siracha mayo paired with the meat and pickled carrots/radish etc all worked really well together. I would absolutely order this again, either as an appetizer to share or as a main lol -Bánh xèo (Vietnamese Crepe): This is much denser than most of the Vietnamese crepes I've had. It's like a super stuffed taco, versus a more spread out quesadilla - but with Vietnamese flavors obviously.
