This is my go to restaurant for the best dumplings in Auburn! There are a couple good dumpling restaurants in Roseville, but not in Gold Country up the hill. They have the best drinks with a nice variety. Yes, the food sometimes takes a little longer, however, it is made fresh. The shop is really cute inside, and I find it relaxing inside or outside. Ai bao is a rare spot in Auburn with both great asian snacks and teas. Auburn is typically low on good Asian spots so this is a real find. First off when you enter the interior is rather modern and very clean you are greeted by the smell of incense (which I like) . The service is cordial and quick, our server was very nice and took our order quickly service. For the food we got some fried BBQ pork baos I think these were homemade the filling was really good not too sweet not too fatty and not too salty - very balanced I liked that the top was brushed with oil and had some scallions on top! My only feedback is that these should be filled more and they bottoms should be fried till golden. For their drinks we got the berry freeze and the mango fruit tea, this might sound like a complaint but It really isn't - they took their time to make these drinks and they made it damn good. Pretty average spot for noodles. If you're vegan, there aren't many (delicious) options but there are a few. To note, the veggie soups have broth that is seafood-based according one server. I had let the server know I was vegan and if they had any veg-friendly broths. She said no and directed me to the stir fried variety instead. I ordered the stir-fried Garlic Noodles with veggies. The noodles tasted like they were pre-packaged (like one of those kits you can buy to assemble a quick meal) but the veggies themselves were fresh. I had asked to have tofu on the side but they declined since they felt the tofu was too soft to accompany the noodles (even on the side). My bf ordered the soup noodles with chicken. He said it was pretty bland. Everything was edible but certainly lacking in flavor in comparison to your typical chinese restaurant. The vibe of the shop was super cute with a mix of potted plants (real and fake), cute displays and neon signs for your selfies. This was such a sweet little tea shop! I ordered wonton noodle soup. While it wasn't on the menu, they were able to accommodate. They had wonton soup and noodle soup but not in combination. I visited this restaurant this evening because I'm interested in Asian cuisine. When I walked in, I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and pleasant it was. The menu doesn't have pictures, so it's unclear what the dish is, but since I knew almost all of them by name, that didn't bother me. I ordered the Udon BBQ pork soup and mango smoothie, and my mom ordered the Udon beef soup. The dishes were prepared and served very quickly, and we loved everything, but since the portions were so large, we unfortunately couldn't finish them. The staff was very friendly and respectful. Excellent food you can't find elsewhere in Auburn. They're not just a coffee/tea/dumpling shop. We've had dinner here several times - ramen and udon soups, stir fry and rice bowls, msubi, and more. The soups were large and filled with tons of veggies and generous meat/shrimp, with enough for lunch the next day. Each msubi was palm size. I also love their Boba milk tea. My kid is obsessed with boba tea, but I don't usually get my own when he does at other shops because of high sugar and fake flavor powders. But I love Aibao's milk tea - real tea and milk, with options to reduce the sweetness so you get that authentic tea tannin bite. read more

I love their artisan soup dumplings but you need to be really patient because they take a very long time to prepare, as they obviously make each order by hand. Trust me, they are very pricey, and this is someone who buys Pot Stickers at Costco for $9 (for a 3 pound bag). One order of eight (8) tiny dumplings costs the same (or more) than that huge mound of Costco gyoza. I guess you don't have to drive to San Francisco (where you can buy 3 huge steamed pork buns and 3 giant pot stickers for $8), and I guess it's worth it to not have to drive 200+ miles, etc. My only gripes, are that (1) they did not have "steamed pork baos" (buns) on the menu, since they have the word "bao" in the name, and (2) they picked the absolute worst location in Auburn due to being 2 miles from the freeway (which would draw Bay Area travelers). South Auburn is the redneck capital of Placer County so don't expect the local residents to embrace this type of ethnic cuisine. I understand that they are doing a "soft opening" right now (through February 25) and I hope they will add the Char Siu Bao (steamed pork bun) to the menu soon. read more

My first time here! It's a super cute tea shop with a nice sitting area to enjoy food/drinks and chat with friends or study. I enjoyed the strawberry matcha with the strawberry mochi waffle. They both were really yummy and the staff was very sweet! I'm excited to come back soon to try more things off the menu! A great addition to Auburn. read more

Our first time at Aibao Noodles and tea. Very nice little restaurant, ambiance inviting. The menu had a lot of variety, something for every taste. Young lady took our order, answered all questions, very professional, very friendly. I ordered beef stir fried noodles which was absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the pork soup dumplings, spam musubi and barbecue pork bao. Everything was sooooo good! We shared a mango cloud smoothie with boba pearls. Very refreshing. Two stars for the boba it wasn't bad. Taro cream puff...it was a little hard to drink have to scrape the taro and cream. The food was all frozen and just reheated: sui mai, hargow, bbq pork bao and the pork belly taking udon - they gave us beef. The reviews are confusing, maybe just having some variety in Auburn? If I could go to south sac I wouldn't have to look for random places to curb my cravings. This wasn't it, we got very bad stomach aches from this place. The woman was nice, didn't go out of her way above and beyond like the other reviews but just quiet and normal. The wait was quite a long time I'd say 25 minutes and we were the only ones there. For the boba, the ambience/decor, and the general interaction I give it 2 stars. Very cute inside but I couldn't stay as I'm allergic to incense and it was overwhelming. The noodles tasted like instant ramen and were super thin, and they literally gave me like 3 pieces of beef and some soggy veggies... the broth was pretty flavorless, even with a lot of chili i added. i know good noodle soup, and i ate the entire thing, but they could do better. read more

I'm very sad to leave this review. I really want to support a local family owned businesses, but they have to do their job to support their customers as well. I have done three orders, all were Togo. The first order was almost perfect. My only complaint from order number one was that the pork buns barely had any pork filling... pretty much all dough. The garlic noodles, the chili wontons, the potstickers, and the yakisoba were all delicious! The second order was not even close to the same. It seems like they did not pay attention to the special order note and we did not receive any of the sauces or requests that we had noted. And sadly, the last order, will be the last will will order. We purchased almost $70 worth of food. The potstickers were good, but we never received extra sauce as requested. The BBQ teriyaki pork plate was an absolute joke! There may have been 3 ounces of pork, and it was so fatty and gelatinous that we could not eat it!! Im so very disappointed. The green onion pancakes were completely soggy and greasy, and had barely any flavor. One of the worst I have ever had. I first came here two weeks after their opening and I immediately fell in love with it! Their food is made to order and the boba was so good that I made sure to save the name so that way I could come back. Since I live in Sacramento it's very rare I am in the area but I've now made it a habit to stop here whenever I'm in town! Today I got the BBQ pork bao and the shu mai, along with the tiramisu milk tea with boba. Everything was so good and I always love the tapioca pearls they have (some other places are too chewy for my taste.) I will say to be aware that the tiramisu milk tea is very sweet though, but that's what I prefer so I loved it. Also love all the decorations they've added since my first visit. Nice quiet location in South Auburn. VERY slow in making the food and nice we weren't in a hurry. They have an extensive menu, but they don't have waiters, so you have to decide what you want while you wait in line--didn't like that. Food was good, but not great. Should have had some sauces on table for rice and noodles dishes--didn't. Many better choices in Roseville--but if you want to stay in Auburn, is tasty with some nice choices. read more
