By leaving that lone, menacing fly that was checking on customers at every table out of this review, I like this place.... My daughter and I stopped by for a late dinner.. I sent my young scout in for a menu while I rested my eyes for a few minutes... Out she comes and the menu looks great. It has most of what both of us liked, including the smoothies that she required to even dine in... I just drive. She does the planning and navigating!! We ordered a couple glasses of water, our smoothies and the meals... The interior is pretty comfortable and modern. Booths and tables. Not too many of either to be crowded by. Two large TVs that can be seen from either direction you're sitting. Our meals came out staggered, as it should. All was hot, well cooked, and plenty of condiments were placed at the table. The salt and pepper shrimp were huge. I have to say that this will be my reason to return, and possibly try the salt and pepper squid also. The pho bowls came in one size and were pretty large... I was sort of proud of myself that this was one time that I didn't make a mess on my shirt with the wet swinging noodles!! The summer rolls were good also, especially with the addition of cucumbers, which isn't in most places I go. The gentleman serving was a one man show as far as making sure every table was satisfied with their meals and checking to see if anything else was needed. We went here on Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. The place is very nice inside with all new furnishings. We were the only people in the restaurant. Our waitress was very nice and promptly served us water while we waited. We ordered the vegetable spring rolls which were crispy with plenty of meet, fresh cabbage and carrots. On a recent visit, we learned that the quality of their foods have changed. We ordered two plates that we frequented. They all came out tasting bland. I had the chicken padthai which I order in every single visit. The chicken tasted more like chewing hot rubber. The spices that I experienced in layers was not existent at all. It all tasted hot peppery padthai attempt or recipe fail. My husband ordered some chicken dish with lemongrass and veggies. There came some water color plate that has a couple of green and red pepper pieces with onion. The chicken was the same rubbery chicken I had on my padthai. The flavor of lemongrass was the only taste we could identify on that specific dish. That dish definitely reminded us of bland food served in a nursing home (kitchens in nursing homes need revolutions - ---- that is another topic). I asked our host if they changed their cook or vendors for their ingredients. He said no. I do hope that things get back to delicious-normal soon. read more

I have been waiting for Pho Le to open ever since I saw the 'coming soon' signs a few weeks ago and I stopped in for lunch today on their third day of being open. My first impression was how clean, bright and inviting the space was and I was promptly seated by a smiling waitress. I ordered a ca phe sua da or iced Vietnamese style coffee with condensed milk (ca phe sua nong for the hot version) and it was delicious. For lunch I ordered chao gio or Vietnamese style fried spring rolls served with do chua (pickled carrot and daikon) fresh lettuce, hung que (Vietnamese basil) and nuoc mam pha dipping sauce. It consisted of two crisply fried spring rolls cut into 8 pieces - crispy, hot and delicious. The nuoc mam pha was very good with a nice balance of sweet, salty and a skant touch of quickly dissipating heat from the red pepper. For my main dish, I ordered the Pho Tai Bo Vien which is Pho with tender thin steak and meatballs. It was served steaming hot with some thinly sliced fresh white onion on top alongside a plate with the usual accompaniments of fresh lime, bean sprouts, sliced jalapeno and hung que (Vietnamese basil). I tasted the broth unadorned and it was light, unctuous and delicious. No perceptible taste of star anise, cinnamon or any other strong spice - very well balanced and nuanced. A squeeze of lime, a swirl of hoisin and sriracha sauce along with a few slices of jalapeno and fragrant hung que torn and sprinkled across the top and it was lunchtime! It was very good - very traditionally, classic South Vietnamese/ Saigon-style Pho - my favorite. The menu is full of great Vietnamese dishes and I can't wait to go back and try some more! I hope Pho Le is in Berlin to stay because it so much closer to me than its competitors in Voorhees and Cherry Hill and the pho is just the way I like it - delicious!! Pho rat ngon! read more

A Vietnamese restaurant with real Vietnamese people! I was a little skeptical at first when I saw the menu online, as they have Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai food, and if you've read my other reviews, you know how I feel about multi-ethnic restaurants. The call of my motherland on a rainy day, however, was strong, and there really aren't a whole lot of pho restaurants to choose from here in South Jersey (is that what this part of the state is called?) When I walked in, I immediately noted the delicious aroma of pho. It definitely *smells* like a pho restaurant, which is a good sign. The restaurant is clean and bright. I was quickly seated and my order taken by a lovely Vietnamese lady who, when she discovered I am Vietnamese, took lots of extra time to stop and chat with me. Pho Tai Bo Vien (raw beef and beef meatballs) is my go-to on a rainy day. The bo vien was very good. The raw beef wasn't at all raw, but still good. The broth was not as good as in California, but really, nothing is, and my 4-star rating is scaled for location. I also had the cafe sua (vietnamese coffee with condensed milk), which was a little watery as I am used to kick-in-the-pants mud coffee, but still perfectly decent. It is a little on the pricey side - $7 for 2 egg rolls, $8-10 for pho, which is 50-100% more than I am used to paying in California, but I'm not sure if that is just how much things cost here. I will definitely be back to sample more menu items and can see myself becoming a regular here if this rainy weather keeps up! read more

The Pho here is always just right. No frills and very filling. I've had the crispy tofu for an app. It's decent. The sweet sauce that it comes with is what makes everything taste good. All of their Pho's are good. I usually go with the seafood one and they definitely don't skimp out on the fish. Their taro bubble tea is also nice, but get it without the tapioca. Something about the bubbles isn't quite right. Solid spot overall. Lost a star for somewhat high prices and weird bubbles in the bubble tea. read more

Grabbed to go pho for lunch and had to take it back to work. After assembling my soup and taking about 4 spoonfuls, I pulled a long black hair out of my mouth that I had been chewing on. I called the place and was basically made to feel like I was lying about it. Was told to bring it back and get something else or get my money back but I was working so I couldn't. I asked for the manager/owner to call me back. I packed the soup back up and returned there after work. Going out of my way to bring the soup back. I was given a refund and again questioned as to where and how the hair was found. The cashier apologized and blamed the noodle company they purchase noodles from. I was given my refund as well. I recommend eating in at this restaurant. Nice ambiance and very very friendly staff. Ask for wooden chopsticks if you're eating vermicelli because the noodles will slip right off the plastic ones. They call their bahn mi "hoagies" but they're probably the most delicious thing on their menu. Did I mention the staff is very friendly? The prices here are a bit high but they have good food. I could get cheaper pho in Philly but I don't feel like driving to Philly all the time so I'll gladly keep coming here. They have an online menu and you can place your order/pay there and pick it up in a reasonable amount of time. Best Viet food I've yet to have in South Jersey! The pho tai has lots of noodles and beef slices! The broth is super tasty!! I didn't even have to ask for fish sauce. The bo luc lac (country style beef cubes) is AMAZINGGGGGG!!! SO tender and SO flavorful! The salt and pepper squid is on point!!! Perfectly seasoned and fried to a tender crisp with minimal unnecessary coating. Everything was super tasty. We can't wait to take my parents here. I decided to get the vermicelli with egg rolls and it tasted really fresh with lots of veggies! The portions were pretty big so I couldn't finish all the egg rolls. I don't believe this Vietnamese restaurant is truly "authentic" bc there is something that's totally off about this place. There seems to be some Chinese influence in this menu. A limited menu- No Bun Rieu, Bun Bo Hue, Mi Xao etc. The names of some of the dishes were different. Nonetheless I ordered the most basic noodle soup of all, Pho Dac Biet. What can go wrong with that, right? To my surprise, this broth was sooo salty. No amount of lime or hoisin/sriracha sauce could have helped. Usually Pho Dac Biet is pretty consistent wherever i go so I thought it was so strange. I noticed that the beef in my soup were sliced super super thin, that it was even breaking apart when I picked it up with my chopsticks. Talk about being cheap! The tendon was so soft, i couldn't even bite into it. Overall-If you want really good Pho, I would pass on this place. Two stars for the service and cleanliness though. read more

Great service, very clean, and reasonable prices. The food was very fresh tasting and seasoned well. In addition to traditional Vietnamese dishes such as rice bowls and vermicelli noodle dishes, there are a few Thai and Chinese dishes. In addition to the seafood rice bowl and summer spring rolls, I ordered a jack fruit frozen drink. That was different, kind of like coconut but a little sweeter. I really liked how my server, in a non condescending manner, explained how to use the condiments and add the veggies to the broth. I am looking forward to trying more of their food and hope the quality remains the same long after the grand opening. One thing I'm hoping Pho Le adds to their menu are lunch specials. read more
