Place is older looking and there were tables that weren't cleaned off even though they weren't busy. They're pretty nice but don't come back to check and make sure that everything's good or if there's anything else needed. The place could probably use a coat of paint to freshen up. The food is always pretty solid. First time getting the grilled lemongrass chicken combo. I think it's my new go to! Good place to fill the hole!

We had to drop my sister off for an appointment and found this place across the street from her appointment. It was cozy with booths on one side and tables on the other side. We found a table and servers were attentive. We ordered tasty rolls with pork and shrimp, lemongrass garlic noodles which were yummy and House special vermicelli with eggrolls, pork and crispy shrimp. So much food that we enjoyed

Came for dinner and everything was authentic. Would come back here if I needed some Vietnamese food in Union city.

Great value and delicious, considering the price point. Even though the meat on the rice plate was thinnly sliced and sparse, but considering it included shrimps, a fried egg and less than $20, what more could you ask for. The pho broth was a tad mild but it included all the bells and whistles as expected. Their garlic noodle had great garlic flavors unlike Pho Ha Noi, which tasted like sweet spaghetti (if there's such thing).

In an age of Bay Area Vietnamese Restaurants charging $19+ for a bowl of Pho or Vermicelli, Pho Mama stands out from the crowd! The dishes are very reasonably priced and quite flavorful and tasty! I ordered a Vermicelli with Grilled Chicken & Egg rolls. It was filled with super fresh vegetables, perfectly charred chicken, and accompanied by a small bowl of the most perfectly balanced Fish Sauce dressing. The egg rolls were also freshly fried, warm, and flavorful. If I were to change one thing, I'd add a touch more chicken to the bowl, but for the price, I'm happy with what I got! One small thing that I didn't really like was that we were charged a dollar for "extra" limes - which happened to be a few small slivers of lime.

Been awhile since I been here! Inside seems the same, basic setup with all the necessities on the table. Nice staff, food comes fast. The pho broth was lacking some flavor. Chicken combo plate was good, the shrimp and chicken had lots of flavor. The portions seem to be smaller than I had remembered from before. I loved the milk tea! Food tastes fresh

Our go to spot for Vietnamese food in Union City when we're up for a small drive. I usually choose the dishes based on what I'm craving that day, and I always order a side of spring rolls to share. My partner usually goes for a rice or vermicelli plate, and he enjoys the consistency in the meat flavors. This time we called for pick up and food was ready within 10 minutes. Staff is friendly and there's plenty of seating for those who choose to eat in!

The place is great if you're looking for pho, with a convenient location and plenty of parking in the complex. Place was pretty nice inside, I would say it's more casual dining. We requested to be seated at a larger table since we had senior citizens with us, but they refused and seated us at a table for four, despite the restaurant being somewhat empty. Otherwise, the service was good and fast. The pho was flavorful and came with a generous portion of noodles and beef--enough for two meals, though I was able to eat a lot of it because I was really hungry.

My partner and I were craving pho and stumbled upon this place. Friendly service and the quality of their food was good! There's plenty of parking since it's on the other side of the plaza. I got their bun bo hue and didn't think it was too spicy or too sweet, it was just perfect for me! My partner got their combo and said it was good! Definitely would come back again!

    Shirley M.

I would give this pho joint 3.5 stars. I went with my go-to order of bun bo hue during my first visit, and while the bowl seemed big, there weren't as many noodles as I would have liked and the portions seemed a little low for the price point. The flavors were decent albeit on the spicier side (which I sometimes crave). It wasn't very busy when I went but there was plenty of seating and the wait staff seemed to be handling all tables with ease. Food came out quickly, and you pay at the front as in most Vietnamese restaurants. Next time I'll try the pho and see if that merits a higher rating. The dish was good the service was fine but I think there are better similar restaurants nearby if you're craving something flavorful and fresh.

My fiancé and I love pho mama for all of our soup cravings, but this time was such a huge food-handling no-no. We bought chicken pho for our LITTLE ONE, as we mixed the noodles a piece of aluminum flew out of the bowl! Thank goodness this didn't become anything more, but pleaseeee be careful!! It would have been 1 star, but the food itself is good.

Decent food, fast and friendly service. Menu isn't too big so it's pretty easy to decide. Portion sizes of the plates in many of the pictures on Yelp looked a bit lacking compared to some other Vietnamese spots. I was hoping for a bit more variety of broth flavors like they offer at other pho spots, but they've got the basics here. The fresh spring roll was tasty.

    Kevin N.

I only had the pho dac biet which was solid. Good-sized portion with plenty of meat. The lime slice in my ice water was noticed and appreciated. Easy parking in the plaza.

Vietnamese coffee was expensive for a cup that is majority ice. In two sips, half of the drink was gone.

We have been here before, but last time I got so caught up enjoying the food that I forgot to leave a review, so I made sure to snap some pictures and write about it this time. Since the menu is simple and straightforward, service is quick and efficient. Even though it was not overly busy during our weekday dinner, I can see how it might fill up fast on weekends, but their fast turnaround means you never have to wait long. Here is what we ordered: #1 Chicken Pho (with bone and egg noodles): Definitely the winner for depth of flavor. The bone-in chicken makes the broth taste fantastic, rich, and deeply flavorful. #5 Boneless Chicken Noodles (with egg noodles): A great option if you do not want to deal with bones, though the bone-in version is still slightly more flavorful. On a server's enthusiastic recommendation, who told us, "Good choice, it is my favorite too," we added a fried sunny-side-up egg to the soup. It was a fun addition, though optional. Fresh Accompaniments: Both items came with a generous shared plate of fresh bean sprouts, Thai basil, jalapeños, and limes. Pro tip: throw the basil and bean sprouts in while the soup is piping hot for the best aroma and flavor. Mo Hanh (Green Onion Oil): Both soups also came with a side of Mo Hanh, which is chopped green onion with oil and a pinch of salt. It was amazing to have with the chicken, and I really loved that combination of flavors. Practical Details: Parking: Located in a plaza with ample parking. Being a weekday, we scored a spot right in front. Seating: Plenty of tables inside, though it can get busy during peak hours. Overall, Pho Ga 88 is a fantastic spot for a cozy meal, especially on a chilly day. We will definitely be back!

Um ... are you guys kidding?…read more 3 stars for me. Pretty much only one choice: free range chicken, which is pretty good, about on par with pho Kim Long (which is Michelin recommended and our long time favorite for pho); soup base pretty much bland, which is the main difference with Kim Long, and literally they don't have onion and other vegetables like typical pho places except bean spouts. Price a bit lower than typical pho places too, chicken a bit less than Kim Long, and dont order their chicken gizzard or whatever soup, like I said, only chicken.

Good portioned pho bowls with delicious broth for those looking to fill up regardless if it's…read moremorning or night! Pho VN is located in one of Union City's popular Asian cross street malls, sharing a large parking lot with other outstanding eateries. The space inside the restaurant is large and can comfortably fit small and large parties alike. Reminiscent of the classic Vietnamese restaurants in this area, you'll find each table stocked with utensils, napkins, and sauces and staff scurrying around with bowls or trays of them toward their hungry patrons. As we walked in, we were motioned to sit at any of the open tables; the staff greeted us with menus and got us started with waters. Their menu is comprehensive and includes all your Vietnamese staples including popular appetizers like spring/egg rolls, noodle dishes like pho and vermicelli, rice plates, and delicious iced drinks featuring the traditional phin filtered Vietnamese coffee. For the pho bowls, you'll have the option of a medium or large portion with the primary difference being the amount of noodles you'll get and a slightly smaller protein portion. I ended up getting a large and it was plenty filling but the medium seemed reasonable as well. With each bowl, you'll get a platter of bean sprouts and basil leaves to spruce up your meal. Highly recommend dumping those in right when you get the steaming hot bowl! I also ended up getting an ice coffee - the flavor was strong and balanced out as the ice melted. It was a delicious indulgence! When it came time to pay, we did so up front at the register. They are cash only but I believe cash apps are also accepted. The staff were quick, friendly, and thorough in their service. You'll have a pleasant time here with your party and minimal interruptions from the staff unless you're looking to refill on waters. Overall, Pho VN checks all the boxes for when you're craving a hot bowl of pho and meaty pieces to go with those bites. I haven't had a chance to try their other dishes yet but this location is conveniently located, easy to get to and park, and accessible to other activities and eateries nearby making it very likely I'll be back soon! This watering hole will surely host someone you know if you're a local and if not, get to know the owners as I hear they have origins in the community!

Also there's no phone reception, had to get their WiFi which I'm glad they provide. Came with soup on the side although that was very salty, wish it were more clean. Portions are huge, my friend got pho and was only able to eat half. Clean restaurant, plenty of tables and parking.
