I've door dashed from this place a couple times during COVID. The food always arrives steaming hot and fresh - never any wilted vegetables or soggy noodles. I've had the flank and rare beef pho here and the portions are good. The soup is nice - not too salty or oily but still dense with flavor and comfort. I like to re boil the soup in a small pot before eating. I also boil the bean sprouts so that my soup doesn't get too lukewarm by adding in cold bean sprouts. Highly recommend using the jalapeños. They add a subtle kick to the broth. Have yet to try anything else from this place but I'm sure the quality will be good nonetheless. Pho Mama just opened a new restaurant in Fremont's Raley's Shopping Center on Paseo Padre Pkwy. We went on their grand opening day for dinner and was pleasantly surprised- The decor is calming, service was very attentive. We ordered spring roll, seafood rice noodle soup, veggie garlic noodle, grilled pork, shrimp and egg roll dinner plate. Everything was delicious! This place gets zero stars from me. I got food poisoning & was sick for a week with diarrhea. The worse stomach illness I ever got in my whole life. & we dine and eat at a lot of places. I literally took 3 sips from my soup and told my hubby, it tasted funny. After 3 hrs I got chills and started shaking really bad and after that is when the diarrhea started. I literally wanted to stay on the toilet that's how bad it was. The next day I went to urgent care & it was so bad that they called emergency at Washington hospital so they could get an IV started because from all my labs I was dehydrated, low sodium & low potassium. This one might be my new favorite local pho spot in the area. But their rice plates (beef short ribs) was definitely the star of the show! Came through last night and ordered a buncha stuff an hour before closing. Very friendly and attentive staff. The food was really good! Definitely coming back soon. Got takeout (due to the shelter-in-place), called ahead to place my order and the lady on the phone was really friendly. They are open for takeout till about 9 PM on the daily; they take both cash and card. In the same plaza as Safeway (off Decoto), next door to Mr. Green Bubble and Wing Stop. Plethora of parking in the entire plaza. Usually doesn't get overwhelmingly busy at any time or day. Ordered #6, which was just the pho tai with beef balls. Soup, noodles and beef were placed in separate containers, and she also provided me with bean sprouts, jalapenos and hoisin sauce and siracha in a separate bag. Soup was still steaming hot when I got home, which was amazing! Noodles are a large portion (a little more than your average pho place I'd say). Soup tasted really authentic, flavorful and oily, but didn't taste like msg. Beef and beef balls were your average pho meat. Spent $11.50 or so, after tax. Would definitely come back, as it is definitely one of the better options in the Fremont/Union City area. Hopefully when the shelter in place is lifted, they're still doing okay!! read more

I ordered no.31 house specialty bowl. That's what I always order from my work. Today I had order to pickup. I asked for 2 chilli sauce because it comes in a small container and I like chilli taste. The lady didn't give me and said one order comes with one sauce only. I felt very bad. Just because of one smallest sauce she lost one permanent customer today. I order the regular combination pho #1 and garlic noodles with with beef. Now Im Mexican American so I've never know what it is to eat pho in Vietnam and just like Im super picky about Mexican food my Asian Yelpers must be about pho. But let me tell you-this was awesome to me. I always like egg noodles and the meat was a plenty. I ran out of noodles before meat. That never happens. The garlic noodles smelled amazing wish Yelp had smell-a-vision so you could smell the aroma of the noodles. Damn. The beef was so tender and juicy and the bell peppers and onions adding a sweet touch to the dish. I was so full when I finished and had plenty of left overs for later. So glad I got to try this place! It was my first time going to this location and trying their Combination Pho. Much better than a lot of the pho places in Fremont and Union City!! Location: In the plaza right next to Mr. Green Bubble to get your pho fix and then your boba fix! Plenty of parking close by and you can even park right in front of the restaurant. Service: Standard service. I think it was nicer how they came around to refill water quite quickly and they actually gave limes for the sides along with the standard bean sprouts and mint. Food: Super flavorful broth! I don't think they overdid it on the salt and I don't think they even added MSG. This was basically the same quality as the ones you can find in San Jose but closer to home. They gave quite a lot of meat, noodles and beef balls for a regular-sized bowl which I appreciated. I definitely wish I ordered a large because the price difference wasn't that different. Price: Well decently priced with a regular bowl only $10.50 and it was decently sized!! Came here one night when one of our go to restaurants was closed. Was pleasantly surprised!! The inside of the restaurant was very clean and open. They have a lot of options on the menu - all which looked very good. We ordered a number of things from the pork/shrimp vermicelli, the spring roll appetizer, the pork rice plate. All of it tasted fantastic - especially the pork which was cooked to a delicious crisp. We also ordered the jack fruit boba drink! It's a must try and was the perfect dessert for after. This place doesn't get 5 stars because we asked if my elderly grandmother could order off of the kids menu. It's difficult to have such a large plate given to an elderly woman when she barely eats anyways. The server denied our request and we were a bit saddened by it. Most restaurants have no problem with allowing things like this to happen. The server offered to give her a small side of chicken broth to compensate. This is my gf's and I go-to pho place since we live down the street. Been here 4-5 times already and service/food is always consistent. Staff there are really nice. We usually get the Pho with steak on the side. This is my first time ordering the Rice dish, I highly recommend the 52. Grilled Slice Pork with egg. I added in egg rolls for an additional $3 but it was worth it. The slice pork was soft and a really good flavor. Tip: Save room for dessert at Mr. Green Bubble next door. read more

I come to Pho Mama about twice a week for the past year and the owner knows my boyfriend and I enough to ask where we are the week before if we had went out of town LOL. I have tried everything from the menu- Pho, special noodle soup dishes, rice plates and vermicelli bowls. From dining in with others, by myself and ordering over phone for pick up. This place always has a ton of patrons and jigsaw their tables to accommodate a large group. They are quick with their service with greeting, bringing out water, coming by to take your order and bringing out your food. I have been here every night for dinner. Both time I felt the food was great. BBQ chicken over rice and my husband for spicy noodle soup first night and Pho the 2nd night. We finish everything without any left over. I usually don't drink the water from the glass and this was ice cold and a little lemon made it a great touch. The food here is good...i have tried only 2 dishes....Unfortunately due to switching to a keto lifestyle/diet, i wont' be returning. They don't really have any all meat, or no carb options. I will say that they were kind enough to accommodate a "no noodle, extra veggies" request on a pho order....but i ended up paying $20 or so for like 5 thin slices of beef and the rest were sprouts and cilantro and onion etc...you now the "veggie" add ins for the typical pho...and for "extra veggies", i hoped to get actual substantial veggies, maybe broccoli, or caulifower or bakchoy etc....but it's literally just sprouts and cilantro that i got so much of... I then tried the same no noodle request for the Bun Bo Hue....tasted good, nice and spicy..but again, not ultimately worth it for someone like me that can't do carbs and trying to sub them for veggies. Extra sprouts does NOT cut it for "extra veggies" when replacing an entire service of noodles... hoping one day they'll offer ala carte meat only entrees, instead of perpetuating the whole Asian places ONLY serve stuff WITH RICE or WITH NOODLES. this day and age, all meat entrees i would think would be optional just about everywhere. But if i didn't have the keto restrictions, AND i had money to burn, sure i'd go back...the food tasted fine enough, and they were WILLING at least to try and accommodate the keto situation, though in execution, really it fell very short. So typically when I crave Viet food I'll go to Pho Mama. 1.) Really kind people! From the register to the back kitchen, it just seems like a great atmosphere. 2.) Great food! Good amount of seasoning, not bland, not too salty. My go to dishes are definitely the Rice Combo plates (similar to Côm Tấm) and Pho! I've also tried the garlic noodles which are also really good! Been here twice and enjoyed the vermicelli bowl with pork and rolls, spring rolls and a combo beef pho. The bun was decent and a well proportioned veggies to meat and noodles. The spring rolls had grilled pork, which was tasty, the peanut sauce could use a little mire heat but was able to add sriracha. The pho was good, a little sweet, I was looking for a deeper beef broth flavor but good enough to keep me coming back. Iced coffee was on the milder side too, still better than other places. This speaks volumes because it's the only thing he eats at any Vietnamese restaurant. - Pho brisket and meatball (pho tai and bo vien) - Not as good as my mom's--nothing is--but SIGNIFICANTLY better than the other places within with a 15 mile drive! - Spring rolls - this BY ITSELF deserves 5 stars. It is packed with shrimp AND grilled bbq meat, which is incredibly rare. I have only ever been to one or two other places that add meat to spring rolls and they're all in Southern California (Orange County). HUGGEEEE kudos to this place. We were greeted promptly and served water as well promptly. The water was fresh and clean to boot. I ordered the combo Pho which had a good amount of meats and the noodles were tender. When I started living in the East Bay, I stopped having pho every week because the pho here was never as good as the ones in SJ. I'm so happy Pho Mama opened & there's finally a good pho restaurant in the east bay! I ordered the pho dac biet (combination pho special), as I usually do at every pho restaurant I visit. The broth was delicious, flavorful, and not too salty as it tends to be at most pho restaurants. There were a couple of reviews about how the broth was bland here. I thought the broth was perfect, didn't taste like MSG, and tasted like something my mom makes. The pho is also filled with ingredients! They don't skimp on meat and beef balls - yay! The fresh spring rolls here are to die for. The spring rolls have grilled pork in them, which gives it a bbq pork flavor. It's the same grilled pork they use in rice plates. I love them! I'd come here just for the spring rolls. Service is kind of spotty because it's an Asian restaurant and the owners don't seem to be as fluent in English. It's okay though. Pho Mama - Mama Mia! I was in the neighborhood today around lunchtime, and I recall seeing positive reviews for this Pho joint in Union City in the Safeway shopping plaza on Decoto. I figured why not, seeing how they now offer indoor dining. It looked like they were following all state and county covid safety measures. I saw a bottle of hand sanitizer near the entrance, limited tables for indoor dining, staff wearing face masks and rubber gloves. We had zero issues concerning safety when eating here. The menu had all your usual Pho joint suspects - from rice plates to noodles, to vermicelli bowls, to all your standard fare. We opted for the Special combination vermicelli bowl and a #4 Pho. The food arrived within minutes of placing our order, and I noticed that they were doing a brisk takeout business. At least 4-5 people came in, paid and split with their grub. Good to know if I'm ever in a pinch and need to get dinner on the fly. The vermicelli bowl was freakin' HUGE. It was chocked full of grilled pork with lots of char marks, equally well cooked large prawns, small but tasty egg rolls, lots of veggies and noodles on the bottom of it all. A real bargain at $11 - well worth it for the sheer amount of food you got. The #4 Pho was tasty and authentic. The meat was fresh, and the soup hit all the familiar notes with your Pho experience. It tasted exactly like it should have. No regrets eating here, I'd return for another meal without hesitation.
