Rice and Spoon is a cute Vietnamese spot that shares a small parking lot in a plaza with other small businesses. Ordering is fairly easy on the self-service kiosk, and I had their Mango My Pork, which featured lemongrass pork with shredded mango and no jalapenos. I'm no stranger to banh mi; after all, I grew up eating it. That being said, it's often not the most exciting food that I crave but when a friend wants to go too - suddenly yes! Mango My Pork... yes I'd tango with or without a fork! The Mango My Pork features lemongrass pork, which was very tasty and perfectly seasoned. To bring out the taste even more, there is unripe mango, which might sound unappetizing.... but this mango had less tang, less sweet, less sour - just a bit of chew with no tenderness. Essentially, it served the function a tropical vegetable with substantial chew. Although this restaurant is not a regular sit-in with table-side service, the staff checked in on us to see if we were enjoying our food. It's also a bit on the smaller side, so it's hard not to notice the environment around. Nonetheless, it was fairly quiet and calm. They were great here. Really good customer service from the moment we walked in--the two people in the front were welcoming and greeted us right away. We asked if they were still accepting dine-in since they were closing in about 15 minutes, and we even offered to take our food to go. They insisted, "No, please stay because they still were cleaning up." They checked on us throughout the meal, made sure we were doing good, and asked if we needed anything else before they closed the kitchen. Even after they closed, they told us to take our time and no rush but we were almost done. The food was delicious! My daughter and I shared the meatball pho, and my husband ordered the chicken curry. We always love coming here to Rice and Spoon after a long day out--especially on the weekends. There is always room and ample amounts of space. While we were eating a group of eight came in and were all accommodated, so definitely consider dining in. The crew here definitely run a tight ship, floors are always clean and tables are always wiped. I never had an issue with cleanliness here within the three years I've been here. As for their food? Just as good and consistent as the first time. Their Pho Tai is an electric shock for an exhausted body and tired soul. My girlfriend and I always feel so much better after eating here. Portion sizes are great--they never skimp on toppings, noodles, or garnishes. It's probably the equivalent to a size large elsewhere. Check out how much beef I was given in the photo. The spicy beef noodle was very flavorful and my partners mixed beef bowl was also very flavorful. We chose to dine-in but the appetizer came out far after our pho bowls. While waiting, it seems the kitchen is pretty disorganized and with only one person taking orders, it felt chaotic. After a morning hike nearby we were in search of a restaurant that allowed dogs. Rice and Spoon popped up on my Yelp search and I was pleasantly surprised to see a Vietnamese restaurant that had outdoor dining options! I called them up to confirm they were open (it was memorial day) and made sure they allowed dogs. When we arrived, there was a single 4-person table out front that was available, perfect for our group of 4 girls and 3 dogs.
