I ordered this for delivery via Grubhub, please take into consideration for my review. I got: - Pho Rare Beef Loin New York - Coconut Shrimp Overall, the pho was solid. It didn't blow me away but it was packaged well and tasted good. The amount was a little underwhelming considering the list price of $18.50 (Before delivery fees etc). But I enjoyed it and finished it all the same. The coconut shrimp weren't that great though. The flavor was a little iffy, it felt like they perhaps put a bunch of spices or lemon flavor that overpowered the shrimp. I still finished them but it was a little underwhelming. Doordashed the Rare Beef Steak Pho - I live near Westwood and it was right after work so it took about 45 minutes. Quickly reheated up the broth in a pot since it had cooled down a bit after travel. Overall delicious and the broth was great! A little salty but the noodles, veggies, and noodles helped balance it out. Kept a little for leftovers and those help up well too! Love their MDR crispy wings. I don't like "soggy" wings and they are crispy and hot just right! Also nice bowl portion of PHO! The indoor vibe is kinda funky like with the red lighting and the art, the club music, street vibes etc. They also have mango rice that's good. Parking is on the street or on the side if you have it. Limited spots. About 8 tables inside so it's not big. 6 (four tops) and 2 (2 tops). There is a handicap ramp on the side entrance which helps if you have mobility challenges. The main front entrance has a high step (one step) and is narrow to get in. Definitely a "neighborhood". Mostly locals here. Also tried their Spicy Basil Fried Rice with Garlic Beef. One thing to note, no outside food or drink and no public restrooms. They also automatically add the tip to the bill at 18% and for parties 6+ is 20%. The soup base is delicious I've had both the beef broth and chicken broth. Both are excellent I usually do the rare beef and it is fantastic. The fri d rice here is also phenomenal which is weird for a pho spot yes but also excellent. My favorite thing on the menu is the tofu fries! Phi MDR is a very cute and unassuming hole in the wall pho place. There are only street spaces so parking might be a bit of a challenge at certain times of the day. The inside of the place is small and has some themed pho & Vietnamese food art painted on the wall, which is a nice touch. The service was swift and the portions were ample. We ordered the beef loin pho & chicken pho as well as the egg rolls with pork. All the great flavors were there- the beef was tender, and the broth was nice and hot. The server was friendly and my food was still warm when I got home. The flavor was not hitting for me. This was probably the most bland pho I've ever had. If you are into bland, this is for you. This little hole-in-the-wall, Pho MDR Noodle Culture, is a hidden gem right in my neighborhood! I must have passed this place a million times without ever stopping in. Yesterday, I met a Pho-loving friend for lunch and I'm glad I did. The Vietnamese & Thai fusion restaurant offers a myriad of choices and all of them were delicious. We started with the house-made veggie rolls, fried and stuffed with a blend of veggies and spices and a side of nuoc cham. (Fish sauce). We followed this with the Fried Chicken and Veggie Dumplings with a side of soy sauce vinaigrette. We also tried the Satay-grilled chicken skewers marinated in turmeric seasoning peanut dipping sauce, and pickled veggies. What we really came for though was the Pho Rare Beef Loin NY-rice noodle soup topped with sliced rare New York strip loin, green onions, slide onion, and cilantro served in a beef broth with a side of bean sprouts, basil, jalapeno, hoison, sriacha sauce, and lime. My friend and I decided to find a Vietnamese place to enjoy on a chilly day when I came across Pho MDR. I loved how cute it was from the outside, so we decided to give it a try. My first impressions were based off of how cute and fun the interior was. Definitely a warm and cozy vibe that my friend and I very much enjoyed. The dining area was a bit small, but we went later in the evening so we had no problem finding a table to dine at. For my beverage, I decided to order a Vietnamese Coffee as it's one of my all time favorite drinks to order at Vietnamese restaurants. Unfortunately, this was probably the worst one I've had. The coffee came with a hugeee amount of condensed milk on the clustered bottom so I made sure to shake it vigorously. Even mixed, it was way too sweet with almost no coffee flavor at all. I asked for more coffee on the side so I can balance it out but that didn't help, it was undrinkable. I didn't want to make a fuss so I just left it on the table and paid for it when it was time to leave. When it came to the dishes themselves, they were actually really flavorful and delicious. My friend ordered pho and she did enjoy it. I loved my noodles as well as they were well cooked and had nice flavor depth to it. In terms of service, this is where it fell quite short for me. My friend and I weren't too pleased that our appetizer came out the same time as our food, otherwise, we wouldn't have ordered it. It was very delicious nonetheless, but kind of a waste in this scenario. They also were out of mangos so we couldn't order dessert. Furthermore, the employee who picked up our check with our cards, took a significant amount of time to run them. She also ran the cards multiple times to the point where my card wouldn't work and my friend got multiple charges on her card. These extra charges were eventually canceled, but I have no idea what the cause of this was. We must've waited 10-15 minutes just to get our cards back. Additionally, a 18% service charge got added to our bill. Could be the reason why our service wasn't quite good, considering they get automatic 18% onto every bill. My friend and I weren't too pleased with this either. Overall, I loved the atmosphere and the quality of the food but everything else was quite disappointing. Don't recall what time parking enforcement (time restrictions) end. Read the signs. Walked in. Seated immediately. No wait. Noticed a lot of take out business. Service was the usual I've become accustomed to at Pho restaurants. Just wave the staff down if/when you need something. Friendly is what I will say about the person who was our server and cashier. For the food. See pics. Ordered Pho, Chicken Skewers and a Noodle Dish. Wasn't the most memorable meal I've ever had but it definitely hit the spot. Pho broth was nice and hot. As a lover of rare meat and flavorful broth, I was very happy with the pho here. I ordered the rare beef loin NY pho, and it came with a plate of raw beef. I don't think that's for everyone, but I loved swishing the meat in the broth until it's just slightly cooked, similar to hot pot. The broth was rich and delicious, enough for me to drink it all. The prices are reasonable, and the space is small but bright and charming. The servers are pleasant and clearly take pride in what they do; they're very eager for you to pack up the broth and take it home if you can't finish it. Bill integrity issues 1. Foods were okay okay, nothing spectacular 2. However, the initial bill has the following fine prints: 18% service charge is included for dine-in parties of 1-5ppl & 20% for parties of 6+. The service charge goes 100% to the staff which I don't mind at all 3. Unfortunately, when the final bill came, additional 'add tip' lines for 10, 15, 20% more tip or others were added. When service change is already included, these add tip lines should be removed, unless it's an exceptional service such as with high-end establishments and the server stayed silence in hoping of me not noticing the add-on service charge. 4. The neighborhood is in a safety concerned area with transient people. 5. Will never go back again. read more
