My go to 'fast food' - when in the mood for a quick bite that's fairly reasonably priced and provides a decent portion then this is where I go. Located within the Mitsuwa marketplace food court, it's always consistent and good. order at the counter and wait for your number to be called in the loudspeaker, plenty of tables to enjoy a meal served hot in real bowls, or take it on the go. It's a pleasant casual atmosphere, lots of free parking and you can top of the meal with other goodies from the surrounding options.

Very good Japanese udon, curry and tempura sets for a quick meal. And the prices are very reasonable at $6 for a small dish. We ordered a tempura sets and a small beef curry bowl for a total of $12. Service was quick and friendly.

    As advertised.

You buy dinner and spend more than 20 dollars, but they won't give you a cup of water. The food is terrible. I ordered number 26, and a small number 23. What the photo shows on their menu, is not what they serve you. See photos of the same item. That is known as false advertising. The dishes are 95 percent rice and the pork is chewy meat, covered in onions and egg to hide the terrible meat. The rice also tasted like soap. I spoke to the lady at the counter about the false advertising, and she simply shrugged. Do NOT eat there!!!

I finally found a place to have my favorite mentaiko udon! And it is here. The portion is adequate and filling and the price is cheap. The whole plaza is easy to find with plenty of parking spaces. I ordered via doordash because my credit card gives me $5 off. Or else I would order in store because online order is expensive The food is tasty nonetheless. I can't wait to come back even though the location is inconvenient from where I live.

I can easily say that everything in the Mitsuwa food court is delicious. The variety of eateries is nice but Sanuki Sandou probably has the most variety as other stands are more of a specialist in their menu item. Go and check them out for yourself! Parking: large private lot VERDICT: Rinse and repeat

The food is okay, but the service is slow. We got there a little last noon on a weekday. There was no line, and no stream of food delivery drivers picking up food either. We ordered Nabeyaki udon and plain udon. And then we waited. And waited. Now, if this had been a sit down restaurant, I would have given them a benefit of a doubt and assumed they were making some of the order from scratch. But this is just one of four food counters at the Mitsuwa Marketplace food court, where the utensils are plastic spoons and cheap, disposable chopsticks.

Always a fan of Mitsuwa and service is quick. Rice and beef are good for the price point. The onions are grilled well but there is not a lot. Overall, a little dry but is fine.

This place was located in one of the stalls at the Mitsuwa Market in Mar Vista. There's got a fun little selection but I wanted something without me and just small because I wasn't super hungry. So I got the cold soba noodles with dip. I was walking a dog earlier and it was a warm day so I drop the dog off at home and came back to do a little grocery shopping. After, I stopped by the this stall and got the cold soba. It was kinda perfect. It was satisfying and the flavor was good. The fact it was cold made it refreshing. The ordering process is similar to most food courts you find at malls, but the food in Mitsuwa just always seems to at least feel a little fancier. I'm a fan.

I dont recommend this place at all. Cashier was nice, but the chefs showed they are not fit to make food for people. Unprofessional and unacceptable. I had to take chefs picture because I was so disgusted by his and his fellow chef (no pic) behaviors. They were looking over the kitchen window and smirking. They seemed to be judging customers by their appearance. They were delaying serving food... I had to throw my food in garbage because I was so digested by these guys' behaviors and worried that they would put something unsanitary to my food. You know what I mean? I just couldn't trust these guys. I never had such horrible dining experience that I waited to take these pictures so that I can post and warn people to stay away and tell management to make some changes here. They showed that they were clearly mentally not fit to stand there and make food for people. These two individuals should be replaced. They are harming your business. I saw a google map review written a month ago about similar behaviors of chefs, I assume they are the same guys.

Average: sauce wasn't too good and rice was mushy. Tempura was average

Shrimp tempura is just so so now. I remember it being really good but that's not the case anymore. I got the tempura bowl and I wanted the small one but was given the large one with all the vegetables. Everything was just average. The batter was the same you can find anywhere. It wasn't extremely crunchy or tasty, it was just whatever. The rice was mushy and the sauce was a weird blend of two sauces. It didn't have much flavor to it. I may try it again for old times sake but I'm disappointed they use a different batter now. Nothing good lasts forever I guess.

Sanuki located inside the food court of Mitsuwa Grocery store is one of my most visited takeout places! I've never eaten in when I order Sanuki so I don't know how it tastes right out of the kitchen! I usually get to-go and it's wrapped very well and then I drive either to work or home to enjoy it. It's comfort food for me and I find myself always returning to Sanuki when I have trouble deciding what I want when I get to the food court. You can get so many different sizes since items are various sizes and is cheaper if it's smaller so it's good if you aren't starving BUT also good if you are because I get the combos and you get so many things. One combo can have soup with rice and beef and another can have soba noodles you dip, along with salad and an egg with tempura! Just so many choices!!! There are select credit cards that they do not take..I think it's Amex and discover? Combo 51 is my favorite and Combo 48 was also tasty!

    Celine W.

Tried Sanuki and went for the chicken udon noodles, which turned out to be pretty good. The dish wasn't overly salty, and the denser noodles were a pleasant surprise. The parking lot was ample, conveniently located inside the Mitsuwa shopping center. It's a seat-yourself setup, and ordering is done at a window. Overall, a satisfying udon experience with a convenient and straightforward dining process.

Even though I have dietary restrictions, I'm pretty sure there's going to be something on the menu that I could eat. Now when I got there and I saw the very brief menu, I was stunned and I was like, oh my gosh, I should've looked at the menu before I came here This looks like I'm about to be eating a bunch of raw fish. But to my surprise when I looked closely, I was able to see that there was a whole section of grilled foods and appetizers that I could eat. I ended up ordering: - the miso soup - the edamame - the cucumber salad (for appetizers) - sea bass - oyster mushrooms - shrimp - the ginkgo nuts Every single food item that I ordered was delicious. I was genuinely surprised by how flavorful everything was and I was particularly impressed with the sea bass and oyster mushrooms. These two dishes were phenomenal. I don't know how they made that sea bass so flaky and moist and just melt in your mouth but it was so good. I don't know what sauce they put on top of it but that thing was amazing. The oyster mushrooms were so good that we ordered two more orders of it. For the edamame, the only thing I didn't like was that it was served cold. I don't know if that's like a traditional way of serving it or something but I'm used to having my edamame be served warm or hot so that was unusual for me. The server was amazing, super attentive and very kind. He always made sure we had what we needed and there was even something that was mistakenly served to us but he took it off the bill and allowed my friend to eat it anyway so we were grateful for him. He was also really good at explaining the menu and the dishes that he liked. The vibe in here is social but a little classy. There were these ladies that were sitting to the left of us and one of them just randomly started talking to us and asking us if we were from the neighborhood, which was a little odd because... why are you asking me those questions??? Other than that the vibe was fine and I would definitely come back here again. One thing to note though is that the food is served kind of like tapas style so if you're expecting massive portions and to be stuffed to discomfort, this is not the place where that's going to happen.

The Santa Monica one is more grab and go as it's their smaller flagship location. Here (at either location) you will find unique delicious flavors of omusubi but also called onigiri rice balls! That you won't find anywhere else! Rice balls are actually shaped into triangles and stuffed or mixed with simple ingredients like a salted plum called ume (it tastes salty, and tangy with a touch of sweetness) To more engaging offerings like the lucky cat with japanese pickles with fresh wasabi, ginger, and bonito(dried fish that is sliced paper thin) These finger foods can be enjoyed as a snack or grab a few to make a meal. The Culver City Location has a decor that immerses you in Japan. I had it once before, when I was Tokyo, but don't remember it. I won't soon forget this place. I tried 3 omusubi: the Sunny Blue Curry ("tender chicken and scallions simmered in wafu curry), the Miso Beef ("tender beef and caramelized onions cooked with homemade miso sauce"), and the Tokyo Tori ("chicken with sweet and sour sauce"). hard to pick a favorite; they were all really tasty. Though I kind of think the sushi-like nature of omusubi might work even better with fish, which they also offer; specifically the Kara Tuna ("albacore tuna with diced cucumbers and onions with spicy mayo sauce") and Spicy Salmon ("cured salmon with chili seasoning"). Maybe next time. As for the place itself, it was clean and neat, and while there was only one table inside, they had a nice outside area on the side. They also have a staff who were friendly and helpful. As for parking, I easily found a spot on a side street on a Wednesday around noon. There's also some metered parking on Washington. Just watch the signs. If I had a complaint -- and I don't, really -- it would be that I wish they had some coffee drinks. But that kind of wouldn't fit the vibe (and, to be honest, there were tons of coffee places on Washington on my way home). Instead, their beverages were fittingly rather Japanese. Like Ramune.

We were in the area for my son's doctor's appointment and discovered this place nearby. What a bonus! If you're anywhere close, it's absolutely worth a visit. The sushi here is next-level. You can immediately taste the quality of the ingredients--the freshness of the rice, the fish, and the attention to detail in every bite. I started with salmon and tuna nigiri, plus a salmon roll that was cut into small bite-sized pieces. Honestly, I was popping them into my mouth like candy. Everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. They also have a great selection of hot foods. Right when you walk in, you're greeted by freshly prepared unagi (eel), which looked amazing. They also offer katsu, and other ready-to-eat items. I grabbed a Spam musubi, and wow--it may be the best Spam musubi I've ever had, even better than some I've had in Hawaii. The Spam still had a slight crispiness, the egg added richness, and the seasoning brought everything together with an incredible umami flavor. What I love most is that the place reminds me of a Japanese convenience store (konbini)--but an upscale version. It's like Tsukigi market had a store in Ginza. You can buy fresh seafood, ingredients to make your own sushi at home, or simply grab a meal and enjoy it there. The quality throughout the store is outstanding. The atmosphere is great too. There's always a buzz of people shopping for sushi or enjoying their food outside in the seating area. It feels lively and authentic. One suggestion: try to get there early if you can. They had so many ready-made sushi trays, rolls, nigiri, and prepared foods available, but a lot of them were already nearly sold out by the time I got there. I noticed a sign saying items are made fresh regularly throughout the day, which is a great sign of how popular and fresh everything is. Still, if you want first pick of all the goodies, I'd recommend arriving earlier. My only real complaint is the parking. The lot is small, and during busy times you'll probably need some patience. I visited on a weekday during rush hour, but once I got my food, it was completely worth it. The drive back to Simi Valley flew by because I couldn't stop eating and thinking about how good everything was. I honestly can't wait to find another excuse to come back. This place is such a treat. The initial idiot made a quip, "Oh there he is", and I shook my head. It should also be said that the manger isn't exactly a brain surgeon either. Also, Jeremy Allen White from The Bear also touted it as one of his favorite restaurants in LA. That being said, I was really excited to potentially try this place when I was in the area this past weekend. Although I did not have a reservation, my friends and I waited outside 30 minutes before opening to see if there was a chance that maybe my group could grab dinner at the bar or maybe sneak in a walk-in table. For a Saturday night, we were second in line for standby and we lucked out! The hostess was really accommodating though she said we had to be out within an hour and 45 minutes, which was totally feasible (so long as the team expedited our dishes)! The ambience of the place was beautiful, and I particularly enjoyed the fact that we were on the rooftop area, so it had an alfresco dining feel. What we ordered: COCKTAILS (recommend both) 1) Last word - very tasty and refreshing 2) White Negroni - refreshing as well! FOOD 1) Duck confit mixed rice - The portion was incredibly small and while it was unique, not sure I would order it again 2) Sweet corn - This was surprisingly yummy and exceeded my expectations (since I was expecting creamed corn) 3) Bluefin tuna sashimi - This was a bit underwhelming for the price. 4) Crispy aji sando - This was certainly unique but not that memorable 5) Chicken thighs karaage - This was quite delicious and reminded me of my dad's cooking. Lots of flavor, crispy while not being too oily. 6) Apricots with purple daikon - Very refreshing and love how the apricots were highlighted 7) Japanese eggplant - Disappointed since it was under seasoned. Needed acid and or salt to bring some depth 8) Charred broccolini - Delish and flavorful. Reminded me of the charred broccoli dish at Campfire in Carlsbad 9) Roasted sweet potato - Had great flavor and really enjoyed this one! 10) Duck meatball - Very flavorful and no surprise it is a popular dish 11) Lamb shoulder - Not gamey at all and was very delish as well! All in all, we were happy to try this place since it was on the list for a while. The ambience and service were great and while we appreciated the vast menu, we were left a bit underwhelmed for the price. Perhaps its the price tag that comes with having a restaurant in Venice.
