This is my go-to spot when I have a Bun Bo Hue craving (spicy hue style noodle soup with beef, pig blood, pig trotter)! They have the best one in the area hands down! We came here on a Sunday for lunch and we were the ones there. We ordered the BBH and a beef pho with brisket and meatballs. I also wanted Taro smoothie with boba but unfortunately they didn't have boba. My toddler was a little sad about not having boba but the nice owner lady gave us free fried egg rolls instead! We were looking for some late night food, and this was one of the spots that was open till midnight. Understandably there was not many people so we were seated and served relatively quickly. The food was good. We ordered several bowls of Pho, one with egg noodles, as well as a special broken rice plate. I had the broken rice and i really enjoyed it. Decent portion of pork. I would've prefered if the egg was over-easy instead of sunny side up. It only came with 2 shrimp which I felt could've been more. I've been going here since 2016, my typically go to dish is the rice with grilled lemongrass chicken and it never disappoints me and neither do their eggrolls. Their pho is delicious as well. I know Pho Tango next door has a lot of hype before for their bottomless watered down Thai iced tea, but this place makes them correctly, they aren't bottomless but they are delicious! I will say, make sure you bring cash to tip. Typically I don't carry cash with me, but one of the waitresses knows me since I'm a regular, she kindly reminded me. But I think it's because we have that type of relationship Even with my previous nail tech in Beaverton told me this was her go to place. The Bun Bo Hue here is spot-on--spicy, flavorful, and really authentic. The Steak & Brisket Pho is total comfort food, with a rich broth and tender meat that just hits the spot. The wings are unbelievable--crispy, juicy, and that fish sauce glaze makes them crazy addictive (probably the best Vietnamese wings I've had in Portland). The only place I know that serves lemongrass beef Banh mi in Portland. Simple strip mall when inside they have seating but maybe more of a to go place. The lemongrass was super tender decent seasoning. It has some heat with fresh carrots and cucumbers lots of cilantro. Friendly service with a smile sit where they might want you to sit. Greeted the other customers as they left both parties were satisfied. Over great little spot I come here for the lemongrass beef! Banh mi. This was my 2nd time here and my last. The staff were nice enough. However the restaurant was pretty dirty. Dirty dishes at several tables. The condiment containers were nasty, sticky fish sauce covered bottles, dried condiment on the outside of the bottles. The silverware had dried & crustified food on them. My water class still had lip marks, fingerprints and smudges throughout. I ordered the Banh Mi (# 1 on the menu) This has got to be the worst Banh Mi I have ever had!! The roll was so over toasted, when I took a bite it shattered like a bread grenade. The ingredients seemed to be thrown in with no regard, the cilantro, daikon, carrot and jalapeño were sitting on the bottom of the basket. So I basically had to re-build my sandwich. Disappointed in my experience here. Was not greeted when I came in and no smiles from the staff at all, so I felt like my being there was an inconvenience. I had a challenge with communication and was not understood when asking what came on the sandwich - "chicken" is not a full ingredient list. This is not the place to go if you have food allergies - or want to know what's going to be on your sandwich. Despite being the only customer, my single sandwich took almost 20 minutes, and came with most of the toppings in separate containers so I basically had to put it together myself. Was that what they thought I wanted, because I asked what was on it? I will never know. The sandwich itself lacked the Banh Mi flavors that I had been looking forward to. I ended up not finishing it. In these tough 'coronavirus' times, this place has got some nerve! I'm not in the medical field, but my job is still considered 'mission critical' as I deal with payroll. Well it's only 6:30pm, and I am aware of special hours (they still specify 9:30pm closing), and also that some restaurants may limit items on their menu. Understandable, but I had a busy day at work and for some reason had a HUGE craving for pho. I noticed their Open sign on so I walked in, with plans to just place an order. The place was empty obviously, so I just stood at the door. A lady that I have seen before comes out from the back. No smile, NO MASK, yells at me to go outside and call. We're a good twenty feet away. "Call what? I'm already here, can I just do a takeout order please? I'm starving!" "You need to go outside and call," she replied again. WTF, I should have slammed the door on my way out, how rude! Never have I had a complaint about this place until yesterday, and after a long busy day at work too. OMG the nerve of some people, great, now where the F do I go? I'm all about "supporting the locals", but damn to be basically told to leave. F THIS PLACE!!! Dining area: DIRTY!!! Yelp Health Score: LOW and violations! I'm sure its really rats! Five-star Reviews: Short and FAKE! One-star Reviews: Believable! Food: Bleh! Staff: Again, NO MASK and rude! Spare yourself everyone! My kid and I had sushi happy hour plans that were disrupted by a side trip to see my doctor. We missed the happy hour window. If you have a hungry teen that's not good. Pho then,she said. Ok. So we bopped in here about 5:30 on a Friday for our typical pho with chicken.We were the only customers aside from a few takeouts for most of our visit. Service was straightforward and not remotely fawning. I wouldn't call it unfriendly, it just is not phony friendly. If you want that, maybe try a Red Robin. I think there were only two women working so we didn't see them too much nor did we get water refills or asked how things were. We could hear them banging pots around in the back and saw them putting takeout banh mis together. Some tables had dirty dishes on them, one had a takeout order waiting for a while. And a gentleman who came in as we were wrapping up waited a long while before he was helped. He seated himself and got his own menu. We ordered a Thai iced tea that Princess declared the best she ever had. I tried it. Nope. Still not my thing. But she loved it. The pho arrived in giant bowls with a side plate of bean sprouts, a lime wedge, Thai basil, and a couple big slices of jalapeno. The usual sticky bottles of sriracha, hoisin, chile paste, and soy sauce were available on the table. The server brought us spoons, chopsticks, and forks ( I have never been offered one at pho before and really didn't need a fork but Princess used hers to spear her chicken slices from the depths of her pho bowl). We will dub this some good chicken pho. I have no idea if the broth was beef or chicken but it had good depth of flavor and a big anise punch. The noodles were good with a nice texture, the chicken was breast meat in nice tender slices. We both brought our leftovers home like they were precious treasure which is a sign we liked the soup. Our one complaint was that it could have been just a little hotter in temperature. Two bowls of pho and the tea were under $23. My kid texted a picture of her bowl to her BFF, who says soup is an " insufficient nutritional delivery system". He only eats pizza or macaroni and cheese. He is missing out. Pho is good stuff. A hidden gem oddly adjacent to a well established staple Vietnamese/Chinese hybrid that is Pho Tango. When I first visited this location over 3 years ago I walked away satisfied but thinking they had a long way to go. I hadn't been back until this winter. I'm not sure if there's new ownership or updated recipes but I gotta say, it is really worth a try as I've been back 3 times in 4 weeks. My two go to soups are the classic special everything-in-it pho dac biet, or Bun Bo Hue when I want a bit of a kick. The pho is light on MSG and strong in beef bones flavor. When one can smell and taste the bone marrow (yeah that sounded better in my head), wow, they are doing something right. The bun bo hue does have congealed pork blood and some pork leg cartilage to chew on (that sounded better in my head too) but you can ask them to remove it. Flavor profile is quite unique but I can't say it is "authentic" in terms of having more lemongrass and certain spices, not to say it is lacking but the dominant flavor is a very warm and bold shrimp paste flavor, in the best way. Whatever brand or concoction they are using, it's great. My buddy who is a BBH fanatic felt the same way, definitely worth a try. We also ordered grilled pork rice and once again nicely done with fresh slices of cucumber with pickled carrots. Marinated pork chops had great fish sauce, sugar and lemongrass flavors abound. This is not a big place, maybe 30 ppl at most and if short on staff they are slammed. I saw A LOT of take out which speaks for their popularity even being adjacent to Pho Tango. If you have a small group give them a try, I think you'll walk away satisfied if you forgive the wait during busy hours. read more

If you value sanitation or care about the adherence of proper Covid protocols, I strongly urge you to go elsewhere. NONE of the staff (including the one preparing food in the kitchen) were wearing masks. If I hadn't already placed an order for take-out beforehand, I would've left immediately, but even that has its issues. They didn't start preparing my food until I arrived to pick it up 20 minutes (eta I was given) after the order was placed and paid for. That would've been understandable if the restaurant was busy, but there were no customers in sight. Now I'm not usually a stickler for service, but when I told the lady I was here for pick up, she looked confused until she rummaged through some slips and found the order, clearly forgotten. I didn't expect an apology, but she acted as if I was the one to drop the ball-yelling "15 MINUTES!!!" with an air of stank before busting open the kitchen door to pass on the order. When I came back 15 minutes later, the same lady was taking orders from a couple that was dining in-this time with a mask on, worn as a chin guard, nose and mouth exposed, standing inches away from them. What is the point of putting it on when you can't even be bothered to wear it properly? The food was mediocre at best-hastily packaged with bits and pieces sticking out of the box. The Vietnamese coffee I ordered was filled to the brink with chunky ice-after I specifically requested light ice. I've refrained from writing reviews for a while-especially negative ones, but this was by far the most atrocious experience I've had with any business since Covid started. If they can't follow a procedure as simple as wearing a mask (even if to act in the presence of a customer), their whole sanitation practice comes into question. read more

This is my go to for pho and BBH. Been a regular for 4-5 years now and the main owner is super nice. Their BBH is the best around Hillsboro. It has authentic blood jelly and pork ham hock in it. They also have good rice and chicken, if you like shrimp get the combo with that in it for an extra dollar. Wonderful. Had the steak, grilled shrimp and egg roll vermicelli. The shrimp were fired crispy, but the bowl overall delicious; the real reason for the 5 star is that their beef is PERFECT, it's so tender and grilled just right. Makes the whole dinner. They are not sparing any expense on the beef, it's a higher grade than most restaurants are serving these days. This is my newly discovered favorite PHO place in Hillsboro. It's located right off Imbrie near my employer. Funny thing this restaurant is located in the same strip mall/ plaza as Pho Tango. The broth here is great with the right amount of noodles and meat. The workers are friendly and pleasant to talk with. It is a smaller place but I love the somewhat open feel to the place. The price is right at around $9 for the Pho Dac Biet, and they also have bubble tea and Vietnamese Binh minh sandwiches here. I always order the pho when I come here and it never fails to disappoint. My friend has the lemongrass chicken and he has mentioned that it is one of the best version of this dish he has had. I love eating here and will continue to do so. read more

My husband and I got food poisoning after eating here for lunch yesterday. He got it far worse than I did (I was really worried about him), which makes us think it was his meal that was contaminated. I had a bite of his which is probably why I got away with non-severe symptoms. He actually had a very similar experience to what the reviewer from 3/5/2018 reported: about 6 hours of suffering 7 hours after eating. Here's what each of us ordered: Him: Grilled Lemongrass Chicken, Thai Iced Tea Me: Egg Rolls, Fried Chicken Wings, Taro Boba Smoothie We thought the Lemongrass Chicken had a weird spongy texture that probably meant it was low quality meat. We stopped here on the way home from the coast. We spilt an order of eggrolls and both went for the lemongrass grilled chicken sandwich. The eggrolls ate lighter than most I have had, a welcome trait. They were brought out right away with some tasty dipping sauce. The bahn mi were perfect for a light meal. The bread was toasty, the veggies crisp and the chicken flavorful. The place is spotless, the service quick and friendly and the prices very affordable. I also tried the coconut drink. Perhaps it is one of those cultural differences that don't translate well to my western palate, it isn't something I would order again. This is the second place I have had bahn mi and I loved it from both. I may have found my new most favorite sandwich. I look forward to trying this at other places and see how they compare. Most authentic Viet place in Oregon. Service isn't top notch but the food most definitely is. Try to HUE style spicy soup. It doesn't taste any different from what we had in Saigon, if not better. Use numbers to order otherwise they may give you something else. read more
